Well, back from 4d scan it was amazing - our little girl (definitely a girl - phew)just wouldn't behave initially - face first into the placenta. She is head down back slightly to my right but not back to back as i thought. After threatening to poke her - I resorted to choccie and OJ to make her move. Have added a piccie to my profile - not one of the prints as i still need to scan them in - but an image capture from the DVD.

Went buggy shopping too - No mountain buggy for us - it's too big for my car but have fallen in love with a maxi cosi mura instead. to Dh's relief it's £250 cheaper too. (relax Dizzy it's going to the in-laws!!!) Also got a bargain on baby monitor - the tomy one with the movement sensor was down from £109 to £55 in boots.

So now she has a few things and I have some hospital bag stuff - not feeling too unprepared even if it is all at the in laws house (except the maternity pads and breast pads!)

Sorry for the book an altogether exciting day in the Oops household!

oopsacoconut · 31/05/2008 18:43

Forgot to say she has constantly got her mouth open and her hand between her legs!!!!

What have we got ourselves in for???

TwilightSurfer · 31/05/2008 18:48

Oopsa love the photo. Amazing isn't it.

warthog · 31/05/2008 19:11

miamla, it is hard isn't it? i still have a pang when i drive past my old place and it's 3.5 years on!

ts - pinks are the pits aren't they? the dd's room is going to be pink and i think i'm going to go for a very, very pale bluey pink. not actually decided on paint, but have decided on curtains so i'm hoping my choices are limited!

oopsa and buckets - lovely pic

CaptainCaveman · 31/05/2008 20:58

oopsa what a fab pic of your dd! She is obviously starting life as she means to go on!! Question is, who does she take after??

Have been cuddling my friends 4 month old little boy today, he is gorgeous and a very contented baby. Awwww, can't wait til ours arrives!

Hospital bag:
2 novels (coz I'll have nothing else to do but read)
Nail polish (for painting my nails whilst in labour)
Size 10 clothes (because I'll obviously fit straight back into these)
Paracetamol (in case the pain gets a little 'niggly' and won't go away)
A can of red bull (just in case I have any trouble staying awake at night in a 4 bed-bay)

Do you think that's realistic? Am I missing anything?

Buckets · 31/05/2008 20:58

Dizzy, has your doggie looked in the mirror yet?

My BH contractions have increased from 1 lunchtime biggie per day to at least 4 'hugies' a day this week. DS thinks mummy's chair gripping episodes and pained grimaces are quite hilarious. Starting to feel some trepidation about what discomfort and pain the next 10wks is going to bring, starting to wish it all over and done with, starting to remember how much I dislike being pg...

CaptainCaveman · 31/05/2008 21:01

Am with you on the feeling shit front TS. Still got this throat infection and the most annoying cough. If I cough too much I throw up - which is nice.

Also got no room for more than a few mouthfuls of food at meal times. Heartburn is pretty much a constant, so my new best friend is Gaviscon. Can only take blackcurrant and glycerin as cough mixture which is crap and gives me worse heartburn!!
Still, I shall stop moaning and go lie on the settee instead!

Buckets · 31/05/2008 21:01

Cavey, dont forget the johnnies in case you feel frisky on the journey home .

CaptainCaveman · 31/05/2008 21:08

Good point buckets - will put a 24 pack in as we may fancy some in the delivery suite too (immediately after giving birth of course)

warthog · 31/05/2008 22:03

caveman - are you going on some kind of holiday? books? nailpolish? i really think you should pack some bills to pay, bank statements to check through, perhaps start thinking about your next tax return. what about reading through mortage brochures so you can choose the next best deal? sort out your investments, isas etc. wow some people can get lazy...

warthog · 31/05/2008 22:03
Grin
cyteen · 31/05/2008 22:18

fgs Cavey, no hair straighteners? Anyone would think you didn't care how you looked in the post-birth photos.

bigboydiditandranaway · 31/05/2008 22:39

captaincaveman how about packing your running kit in case you fancy going for a run to pass the time away whilst waiting for baby to arrive or perhaps making sure you are wearing a nice designer nightie/outfit, one has to look ones best esp in labour.

HazieDazieandBaby · 31/05/2008 23:33

OMG! What on earth was going on last nite? I go away for 36hrs and you all turn mad! I was pmsl (out loud!) at the last 3 or 4 of the pages on the last thread!

Yay, on the new thread TS! And I'm loving the new title! Even if I am now completely embarrassed about my nappy confession...

Glad to hear you're feeling better today cyteen, hormones help nothing eh? And it's good you're getting the pram situation sorted. Look forward to hearing which one you end up with.

shazza, I'm really sorry to panic you, I totally didn't mean to. Have you measured the width of your boot? The measurements of the prams are on the links that I gave cyteen so fingers crossed.

oopsacoconut, I'm glad your scan went well and I love your pic! She's sooo cute! Did you say you had a name for her yet?

Er sazzles I may have also looked on your profile for some Brad/Angelina pool pics! My argument is that I thought that maybe you had made up a pic using some technical wizardry, you being a genius and everything!! (Does sucking up to you make up for me being a bit stupid?)

And dizzy, the next time that DH rolls his eyes at you giving us advice on not keeping prams in the house, just tell him that we appreciate you looking out for us and that we love you for it!!

CC on the hospital bag front, I think you also forgot your blackberry so that you can give us realtime updates on what is happening.

Well, my weekend away went a bit wrong! DH booked us a room in a lovely hotel, but they couldn't find our reservation - turns out he'd booked it for the wrong date! (He did it quite late at night after a long day of me nagging!) He was really upset about it as he'd gone to the trouble of picking a really nice hotel, making sure we got a room with a great view of Edinburgh Castle and having chocolate covered strawberries delivered to the room before we'd arrived. So obviously none of that happened - I felt really sorry for him, poor thing . They at least transferred the charge for the room over to the correct night so we didn't get charged twice, but the staff in general were a bit snooty and generally not very helpful. It was a bit better this morning, or at least less noticeable because we were so excited about the scan! We got to the scanning place in plenty of time, with my bellyful of coke and chocolate to get Button moving! Except Button seems to be immune to sugar and spent the whole scan head down, face wedged against the placenta, with arms in an 'X' position, giving us no view to the little monkey's face!! They tried for ages but it just wasn't happening. So we went away for a couple of hours and came back at 3pm - this time with a bellyful of ice cubes, cheeseburger, coke, chips & Smarties (in no particular order!). Did that help, er no! The stubborn one then went and put a foot in the way as well as the arms! Oh well, we have a gymnast in the making if nothing else! We've made an appt to go back in 2wks and if nothing happens then, we'll give up!

On a happier note, we are having a little girl!!!!! DH was beyond shocked as he's been convinced since day 1 that we were having a boy. He's still shocked now but is coming round to the idea. I think it's more that now, with me, the baby and the dog all being female, he is completely outnumbered!

HazieDazieandBaby · 31/05/2008 23:35

at massive post back there!! Sorry!

dizzydixies · 31/05/2008 23:38

hazie thats lovely - your dh sounds like a dream and wee princess too

are we on Gabrielle/Gabriella then

HazieDazieandBaby · 31/05/2008 23:50

Thanks dizzy! Definitely on Gabriella now, I've been calling her 'Gabby' ever since we found out, Button doesn't seem to fit any more. I'll just have to watch out in RL, we're trying to keep it secret! Still need to broach the topic with my friend who's 5wk old daughter is Gabrielle.

Since you're the resident name guru, should it be 'Gaby' or 'Gabby' if we're shortening it? I think it looks better with one 'b' but makes more sense with 2 iyswim? Oh, and how's your name hunting going since getting the new books? x

dizzydixies · 31/05/2008 23:55

you could use either to be honest, both are perfectly acceptable and equally pretty

name hunting kind of stale mate at the moment, we're sorted for boys its just girls names am stuck on

dizzydixies · 31/05/2008 23:59

hazie I even posted on the name board - there are a few regulars who always come up with same names as me so we've been musing it all over

here

HazieDazieandBaby · 01/06/2008 00:01

Aww, have you any girlie names in mind at all or have you hit a wall with them? You did really well with your first 2 so I suppose you've set the standard quite high!! What boy names do you have in mind? I can't nick them now so don't worry!! I don't mind if you'd rather not say though

dizzydixies · 01/06/2008 00:03

for boys we have

Cassius
Jude
Reuben

the main contenders with Corin, Caleb and Roan chasing up the rear!

HazieDazieandBaby · 01/06/2008 00:14

Uh oh! I'm glad I made up my mind before looking at that message board! Excel spreadsheets and everything, you guys mean business!

I love all the ones you've chosen, with Jude and Reuben being my favourites.

dizzydixies · 01/06/2008 00:17

trust me, those people are serious namers

I haven't a clue in comparison to them

HazieDazieandBaby · 01/06/2008 00:22

Not true! You can definitely hold your own there I'll bet!

You're up late tonight btw, enjoying the dd free household?

dizzydixies · 01/06/2008 00:25

just winding down from a hectic late shift - dh working till 4am bless him and the kids staying over with a friend so if my bladder plays nice I may even manage a long lie

friend has told me that dd1 needed some calpol though so may get them back earlier than expected in the morning, wee soul
