Just put the M&P Primo Viago car seat in the car - it doesn't feel very secure and it's very upright. Looked at the reviews on mumsnet and it doesn't fare very well. Does anyone else have one? Am worried now that we've screwed up.

PearTart · 07/06/2008 15:51

UDC- our P&T has just arrived! I think the cocoon would be a nice padded place for a couple of bottles of wine.

Amber- I'm sure the car seat will be fine- they are all built to stringent specifications. Maybe it just needs to be jigged a bit.

Happy Due Date to Rolf, Deb & Dylan'smum & Mellymel- were you late with other DC's???. I was 9 days late with DD and boy was I pissed off. We want those babes out.

PS Chocolate/ bacon sandwiches- any way you like is fine at this stage.

PearTart · 07/06/2008 15:54

Deb- how's Ernest getting on?

Rolf · 07/06/2008 16:09

PearTart - DS1 - induced at 40 + 10
DS2 arrived 1 day late, spontaneous labour
DD induced at 38 weeks but it didn't take long to get things started - just a couple of pessaries, I think.

So all over the place but everyone has thought it would be early . The reflexologist said a couple of weeks ago that she didn't think I'd last the week. The midwife is surprised I'm still here - made an appointment for next Thurs but thinks I'll have delivered by then. The doula was convinced I was going to deliver about 10 days ago.

DH is at work now. He helpfully reminded me that it's the Lord Mayor's parade today so ths streets will be gridlocked. And that he has a 5-day trial next week. I think he can accommodate me this evening or tomorrow. So helpful...

.

bitofadramaqueen · 07/06/2008 16:15

Amberc - if you're not 100% could you pop to Mamas and Papas and get them to check the fitting for you?

Alternatively, Halfords offer carseat fitting. It's free if you have bought one from there but I think you can pay if you've bought elsewhere.

Rolf - I hope you manage to accomodate your DH!!!

Amberc · 07/06/2008 16:34

I think we've put the car seat in correctly I just think it's not a very good one reading the reviews on here (too upright when baby can't hold his own head up).

alipalli · 07/06/2008 16:38

Hello

Glad other people are having human time bomb moments too. The tsunami expression is about right - especially on middle aged men, they seem especially freaked out.

I'm feeling very odd in my pelvis today. Ok walking around, but once I have been sitting for a bit and then get up I have all sorts of aches and pains, especially a shooting pain down the front of one thigh. I think this is just an escalation of the head engaging twinges that I have been having for weeks now, it certainly doesn't tie in with what I am expecting labour to feel like. The shooting pains in my thigh are accompanied by a loss of strength so I have to put my weight on the other leg. At this point I both howl in a bit of pain, and laugh as its not that bad. DH asked me whether I was sure they weren't contractions, I pointed out that most people's babies don't emerge from their thigh.

Apart from being a bit of a physical wreck today, I managed a nice trip to the shops with DH. Found a lightweight grobag in TK Maxx, then had a big lunch in a lovely pub: steak and chips followed by a massive slice of chocolate brownie.

sophiewd · 07/06/2008 16:43

Good afternoon, just got back from birthday party and seeing Mor-Mor (grandma), with a very hungry DD, just bicuits and fairy cakes at party and she doesn't like them, just thought that was a bit weird for a party but never mind.

Rolf · 07/06/2008 16:58

Sophie - that does sound a bit of a spartan party!

Alipalli - I've been staggering to my feet when I get out of bed at night. I have to cling onto the side of the bed and edge round it until the stiffness eases. Hope the baby doesn't come out of your thigh. I feel as though mine is trying to come out of my urethra.

Amber - I am deeply unco-ordinated so have nothing to add to your carseat dilemma. Sorry. Hope it's resolvable. Can you return it and get another one?

I'm dying to know what Ernest has called her baby! Can we have a clue, Deb? Do you know when she's coming out of hospital?

PiggyPenguin · 07/06/2008 17:02

All quiet here. My mum and dad have apparently been reading their stars for this month and both are expecting a busy and stressful family event for tomorrow, so are convinced that I'll be having the baby then. I obviously would be quite pleased if this turns out to be true but can't see it somehow.

I also managed a pub lunch today which was lovely and then had a nap so feeling reasonably chipper. What do we think Ernest has called her little girl then? Maybe she looked at her and just knew the right one.

PiggyPenguin · 07/06/2008 17:03

Ah, crossed posts Rolf, but good to know its not just me who is dying with the anticipation, come on Debs, put us out of our misery!

bun2 · 07/06/2008 17:22

Thank you Rolf. Fingers crossed for you today - there's still 7 hours left!

systemsaddict · 07/06/2008 17:22

Hey Sophie, my ds has a Mormor too, my mum is Norwegian - what's the Scandinavian link with you? (In fact, my dd would have been called Sofie after my own Mormor, if my brother hadn't nicked it as a middle name for his baby earlier this year!)

sophiewd · 07/06/2008 17:24

She just started saying it for some reason, couldn't say Grandma, my mother did work in Sweden many years ago and likes being called something different.

bun2 · 07/06/2008 17:28

Rolf LOL at the baby trying to come out of your urethra. Having similar sensations!

Amber I have a M&P Primo Viaggio (from DD1) and thought it was great. It is one of the more upright models though.

PearTart · 07/06/2008 18:01

Just had major stropville in the house. DD, not me! She was having such a massive paddy, I had to put her in her cot to calm down.

Rolf- so frustrating when everyone tells you when they think the baby will arrive- perhaps she has made a diary date with your DH for after his trial! Cheeky things babies... Either that or she's nice and snug in there.

Amber- does your car seat have an additional head support thing to stop sideways movement? Was totally shocked when IL's borrowed a car seat from yesteryear when we went to stay in Australia- it was just an open bucket compared to today's designs. We had to bolster DD's head with blankets. Can you go to M&P and get them to check it?

Allipali- sounds like you're trapping a nerve in your thigh- very ouch. Not long until the babe's out I hope.

Sybil- bless your parents and their star forecasts!

PearTart · 07/06/2008 18:02

SA- how's you DS getting on? Hope he's on the mend.

PregnantPenguin · 07/06/2008 18:11

Happy due date to all those due today! Think this thread needs a birth this weekend.

Makecakes - Thanks for the chinese tip, I prefer Chinese to Indian anyway. Also I'm feeling too big and useless (and lazy) to cook, so takeaways are very appealing...

Debs - That's sweet of your boys, it's great that they're excited about the baby.

UpsideDownCake - It's the other way round for me. DH's snoring is driving me mad, normally I can sleep thru it, but am so restless at the moment. And of course, once I'm awake that's it. His snoring just
taunts me.

LauraT - Read your post out to Dh who now loves the idea of me going into labour this weekend thanks to Euro 2008!

alipalli · 07/06/2008 18:36

PT - yes I had thought it must be the baby headbutting a nerve in some way.

Rolf - have had the delivery via urethra thought too...hope not though.

Just been lying down reading for an hour which was much more comfortable, but then when I got up there was much joint cracking and I was hobbling like mad again. Ahh well, not much can be done about it, must try to be more stoic!

Rolf · 07/06/2008 21:24

Re baby down urethra...I feel as though the baby is headbutting my pubic bone (although apparently it's fully engaged). As though it was trying to descend but was trying to do so at a bad angle. Is that how others feel?

debinaustria · 07/06/2008 21:38

Rolf, I'm getting those headbutting pains as well as more frequent Bh tonight but I am trying not to get my hopes up! Had a soak in the bath but it didn't stop them.

Haven't heard from Ernest today, she's hoping to be home Monday or Tuesday, and as for the name - you'll all have to wait

Fantasy labour now would be tomorrow morning, after breakfast and a good nights sleep. A relaxed drive to the hospital , finding a parking space easily, a little cough and then he'll pop out!! - would also make up for the fact that we haven't got dh much for Father's Day (it's F day here tomorrow not next week)

bitofadramaqueen · 07/06/2008 22:04

Rolf I sometimes feel like something is really pushed against my pelvis, slightly to the left. I imagine its a little shoulder trying to get comfy! I'm on 3/5 - 4/5 engaged though so that may be completely different to what you feel.

Didn't do my big spring clean of kitchen today although I got as far as cleaning out fridge/freezer. Now got lots of space for stocking up on freezer meals. I dont think the weather is supposed to be great here tomorrow so hopefully will be in a better mood for spring cleaning then.

Whinge of the day is that my hands are all swollen now . My BP was perfect on Thursday and feel fine otherwise so convinced its just fluid retention. Between that and pesky carpal tunnel I feel like an old wreck

Josey - just in case you look in at all, hope things are going ok for you guys.

Good luck with the fantasy birth tomorrow deb (and I think you're right to keep us in suspense re: the name!)

Amberc · 07/06/2008 22:17

Rolf - I get that exact feeling - it's like something is jarring against my hip bone on the left hand side, especially when I lie on my left. I keep thinking it's the baby trying to get underneath but he's too big (hope not!!).

Amberc · 07/06/2008 22:18

Sorry that's drama queen - i get the same feeling!!
