Fantastic news about Ernest - I did have a bit of a gut feeling she was having a girl. I can't wait to find out what she calls her, especially as one of the names she was considering was my name (although she really doesn't like the shortened version I use!)

I hope we hear from Josey soon too, I felt really sad for her yesterday and hope she knows she is in all our thoughts.

debinaustria · 06/06/2008 13:16

I'm back - no fantasy labour here

Scan showed all was well but no indication of how far engaged baby is.

Scan also showed baby is approx 4kg(8lb 13 oz) already which was ds1's weight at birth at 40+3 so another big baby.

Because he's big they won't let me have a water birth.

So I'm back home and the BH started up on the way home - not when I was being monitored - typical.

Popped in to see friends who had a baby there last week - unfortunately didn't make anything happen!!

Wishing Josey all the best

Spoke to Ernest this morning - she's suffering with after pains, and baby is very sleepy as she's early so at 9.00 this morning she still hadn't fed. But apart from that Ernest is fine and her 3 boys are really pleased. I'll let her announce the name as I announced the birth!!

bitofadramaqueen · 06/06/2008 13:36

Can I interrupt all the birth chat with a rant?

Just back from a small local retail park, tiny car park, really narrow lanes and tight corners etc. After coming out of my car parking space I was about to turn right at one of the car park junctions when a car was about to pull out of road I was going into. He indicated for me to carry on turning right but he was in a big estate car and over the middle white lines so there was no way I was going to be able to turn right and get past him so I waited for him to pull out as there was plenty of room for him to go straight ahead. After a bit of hesitation he pulled out, and the woman in the passenger seat (aged mid 30's maybe) started pulling faces at me!!! I dont know best how to describe the faces she was pulling, but very offensive and un-pc indicating that she thought I was a bit thick IYKWIM. I was really offended.

Then to add insult to injury, when I came out of the car park I was turning right at some lights. Green light to go, but the right filter didnt come on... Traffic approaching on the left so I approached fairly cautiously because I dont know the junction very well and wasn't sure if the traffic on my left was going to be held at the lights. Car behind started tooting really aggressively. As it happens the traffic was held at the lights and I was able to go but for FFS have some patience.

Sorry, none of this particularly bad but why are people so fecking rude????

Wish I had bought myself a cake in M&S now .

Amberc · 06/06/2008 13:37

debinaustria - why won't they let you have a waterbirth? Mine's a whopper too and they said I can labour in the water but I might not be able to actually give birth in there. Might that be an option?

bitofadramaqueen · 06/06/2008 13:37

Deb sorry they wont let you have the birth that you want.

goingfor3 · 06/06/2008 15:25

Congratulations Ernest!!!

Baby is still being very lovely here. I'm still feeling very happy and content. We had a good night last night, he slept from 11.30 - 3.45 and went back to sleep at 5.30 I then had to get him up at 8.30 to take the girls to school (He wanted feeding at that point so I bf whilst making a packed lunch!). Hip still sore so I have tried not to do too much today, I'm hoping it will get better on it's own.

goingfor3 · 06/06/2008 15:27

Forgot to add, my three wheeler already has a pucture!!!!! I am going to get some slime at the weekend (I think that's waht it's called). Luckily I noticed it at home so I was pushing a pram with a flat wheel!

Upsidedowncake · 06/06/2008 15:38

Hi there

Totally exhausted after our trip on the tube. No-one noticed that it was a doll and DS loved being high up. The P&T is much heavier than the Maclaren (duh!). People helped me where I needed help, so am not sure if I'm this knackered because I'm pregnant or because of the heavy lifting!

Have two invitations out this afternoon - am so knackered that I'm not sure that I can face it, but I know DS will be really disappointed if I don't go out. Tell me to get my arse in gear someone.

alipalli · 06/06/2008 15:54

UDC - GET YOUR ARSE IN GEAR

Says Alipalli from the comfort of the sofa watching the tennis

PregnantPenguin · 06/06/2008 15:56

Whinegums - Like the "pretend the EDD is earlier" idea! Wish my MW or GP would fall for that.

AliP - Tesco pineapples still £1 each (and they're large ones too). I've just bought a couple, may need to eat one before Dh gets home in case he gets scared about a premature birth again!

Essie - No fear of anything happening here. After LO was a no show yesterday, I'm just aiming for our EDD of 12/06 now. (It's not until then I'll find out whether LO has engaged at all so may for the best for me). I promise not to get TOO jealous if you beat me...

DQ - Have some tea, sympathy and virtual M&S cake.

I had a lovely morning with friends today and then went for a truely disasterous haircut. It is far too short...you know the really skinny celebs that look like lollipops, well I am the complete opposite of that! I look like a birthing ball with a golf ball for a head. The wierd thing about it is that I really don't care. Normally a bad haircut really is one of the worst things that can happen to me (shallow I know), but today I just shrugged and went on with my shopping??? Hope yours went better than mine Rolf!

DH's colleague took their 8 day old baby into work y-day. Tried to explain to DH that he'll be lucky if I've got myself together enough to do that in 8 months, let alone 8 days!!! He held the baby for 10mins tho and was so gooey about it (DH normally = v staunch blokey kiwi). Bless him.

Am getting a lot of black cabs due to SPD, but have been amazed that only one (female driver) has offered to open the door for me and no-one has offered to help with shopping bags! As per balls description above, it really is obvious that I'm about to burst. Not annoyed about it (saves me money in tips) but am suprised and a bit disappointed in a way...

debinaustria · 06/06/2008 16:04

Dramaqueen - sorry to hear about your problems on the road today, I had a car join the road I was on today from a slip road, then proceeded to stop directly in front of me making me do an emergency stop, with a huge wagon behind me, then he did a U-turn - couldn't believe it.Hoped it would bring on labour but no such luck!!

Amberc - don't know why they said no waterbirth, maybe I'll be allowed to labour in there? They did say with baby #3 it should be easy!!!

G43 - so pleased things are still going well for you, can tell it's #3 - bfeeding whilst getting packed lunch!!

Upsidedown - think you were brave attempting the tube, whilst heavily pregnant and with a double buggy!! Well done.

Upsidedowncake · 06/06/2008 16:07

DS has been in tears ever since he woke up. No ptemperature but don't know what's wrong. Anyway, we aren't going anywhere.

bitofadramaqueen · 06/06/2008 16:08

PP thanks for my virtual cake, do you want to share it while we moan about rude drivers and cabbies?

Am over my car park rant now, I think I was just quite shocked at the woman pulling faces. Really inappropriate and I'd expect better from a cheeky 5 year old tbh.

UDC have you got your arse in gear?

Just been putting some things in the diary, and looking at the w/e of 5 July. Just realised that's only 2 weeks after my due date so I might only be having LO around then .

G43 - check you bf while making packed lunch! Hope you've been taking it easy and resting your hip.

debinaustria · 06/06/2008 16:13

Forgot to say - also found out today that they don't do gas and air here , how can they not do it???? How will I cope?? Do you think I should take ds's snorkel with mouthpiece and pretend?

alipalli · 06/06/2008 16:13

PP I now have my next pineapple ready and waiting. Go on post a photo of your haircut on your profile, you know you want to share it with us! (sorry, only joking). Just remember the old addage that the difference between a good and a bad haricut is two weeks.

I have discovered an interesting effect of being overdue, which is amusing me slightly. A couple of strangers that I have met this week has asked me when I am due. When I tell them that I am overdue, the men look slightly alarmed and back away. Truely I am a human time bomb .

systemsaddict · 06/06/2008 16:34

LOL @ anti-lollipop and human time bomb! I too am enjoying the effect of the latter ali, I even got it from a mum of toddler in the park yesterday, which surprised me. And since the magic 40-week date, dp has finally started treated me as if I'm pregnant - warning me about lifting, stepping in to help with things etc. Ironic really - SPD has eased so much in the past couple of weeks (completely unexpectedly) that I'm actually feeling far better than I was a couple of months ago! but hey, any extra princess-treatment is welcome at this stage.

Have just painted over wrecked bathroom tiles with noxious tile paint, really horrid stuff. Hope it doesn't do LO any harm but it looks ever so slightly better now...

Amberc · 06/06/2008 16:34

PP - PLEASE put a picture of your haircut up - your description made me laugh so much!!

After my horridly depressed day yesterday, I got some lovely flowers from my unborn son saying sorry he was a pain and hadn't come out yet which made me cry. It's amazing how he managed to communicate with Interflora. Very sweet and even though it made me cry it cheered me up no end (ANYTHING makes me cry these days).

dylansmumplusone · 06/06/2008 16:49

LMAO at human time bomb that's just too funny for words!

systemsaddict i too have found that my SPD has been easing the past week or so. i'm feeling much much better in myself. still waddling like a fool and it's tender but it's a lot more bearable.

had a fab day, everything just going right. after a nightmare in john lewis yesterday trying to get ds new shoes (waited 20 mins, everyone served before me, got so fed up i threw a huge strop and left without even getting him measured properly ) i discovered a company on web called footling and they came to my house TODAY, measured, fitted and got ds the cutest shoes i've ever seen in my life. about the same price as start-rites in JL. ds loved it, the case of shoes was fascinating to him and he was an angel. i will never go child shoe shoppping again!!!

dylansmumplusone · 06/06/2008 16:50

Amber that is soooo sweet about the flowers! if it makes you feel any better just your story about it made me shed a tear or two!!

whinegums · 06/06/2008 16:57

PP - well, I think I'll be knocking the idea of the fake EDD for the reflexologist on the head - DP has decided that he is going to finish off the kitchen the week after next - he started it back in October, and has left it since then!!! So of course this means that I have to pack away/move a load of stuff and go to sodding Ikea as well! Grrrrrrrrrr. The week after next is when I am due!!!!!!!

DQ - car parks are the worst places for bad drivers I think. I find mouthing 'f*wit' very clearly and then driving off very quickly makes me feel better.

Ucake - hope DS has calmed down.

Deb - how can they not 'do' gas and air? What's the alternatives?

Love human time bomb - they must have visions of your waters gushing over them like a tsunami with Carmina Burana playing in the background.

Amber, that is lovely about the flowers, your son is clearly going to be a genius, now do you think he could tell me the numbers for tonight's Euro Millions as well?

Amberc · 06/06/2008 16:58

Thanks! I felt so bad because in my frustration I said some not very nice things and then spent ages apologising to my bump

Amberc · 06/06/2008 17:00

whinegums i'll ask him to try and kick the numbers like morse code!

josey · 06/06/2008 17:19

Josey don't really know what to say, makes all our moans and groans sound very trivial. Praying for you, your family and especially Olivia Margaret.
