Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Rolf · 02/06/2008 22:19

Hi Bun2 - no, I don't think you should be worried - I reckon it's just your body warming up for labour

bun2 · 02/06/2008 22:23

Do you think so? I have never experienced anything like the BH this evening but I know they are not like the contractions I experienced last time when I was induced. I've still got 3 weeks to go - if they get worse I'm going to be so uncomfortable.
How is everyone else, puffy feet aside?

bun2 · 02/06/2008 22:38

I'm off to bed in the hope of some good sleep. Night all.

debinaustria · 02/06/2008 22:38

Good evening ladies - I'd like to join the swollen feet group too - mine are very uncomfy in this heat. Bought some flip flops today for hospital as I remember with ds1 I had new slippers and I couldn't fit them on my feet!

Hope everyone has a good nights sleep

I'm getting impatient and I'm not even at my due date yet!

debinaustria · 02/06/2008 22:40

night Bun, sleep well

spongebrainbigpants · 03/06/2008 03:14

Morning everyone, anyone else up? I've been awake since 1am with dreadful indigestion and can't find the Gaviscon anywhere . I can't lie down anymore cos I just feel I'm going to be sick, so I've given up - even my hypnotherapy tape didn't do anything to help me sleep. It's pouring down with rain here too which isn't helping cos all that running water just makes me think I want to go to the loo!

I'll wander off and look at some other threads now cos I'm guessing the rest of you are in bed!

Rolf · 03/06/2008 03:36

Hi Spongebrain - are you still up? I have heartburn so am going to stay vertical for a while. DD has just snuck into our bed and is starfishing. She found a packet of socks I bought her and has put them all on .

Bun - I went to bed before you posted. I'm having a really slow build-up this time. Lots of BH and I feel very pre-menstrual, and have done for a couple of weeks. I'm sure I haven't been like this in my other pregnancies. I guess the positive spin to put on it is that it's probably all getting things moving along.

spongebrainbigpants · 03/06/2008 03:51

Morning Rolf, yes still up - still got the indigestion and still can't find the Gaviscon! Don't think I'll be going back to bed again tonight - still, only 2 1/2 hrs before dh gets up!

Lol at your DD putting all her socks on at once!

I'm just trotting round MN reading posts I've never read before - all v interesting!

Rolf · 03/06/2008 03:58

I've been looking at a thread about how to get labour started! I feel so pre-menstrual and crampy but have done for a few weeks now. DH flatly refuses to go near me (have to say I sympathise) and I suspect that all of the other methods will only "work" if the baby is ready to come out anyway.

I'm wondering whether it would be taking advantage of my lovely in-laws to leave DD with them today and sneak into town to watch SATC. I really feel the need to be on my own at the moment, at least for a good few hours of the day. Now I've come out of my Father Jack mode I'm really enjoying having them around so long as I get to wander off on my own for a bit each day.

Rolf · 03/06/2008 04:26

...and just picked up an "any news?" text on my phone . I sent a rather rude reply back - honestly, does this friend really think I'd have had a baby and not told him about it? And that I appreciate being asked if I've hatched yet? Hope he's not too offended though...

Perfect timing - the battery on my phone has packed in. I've ordered a new one which I hope arrives soon as I feel rather vulnerable without a phone. There's hopefully enough power left for maybe 1 v short phone call, and I've written down the most important numbers so I can contact people from a landline or can hail a passer-by and use their phone. Given all this pre-labour I'm having, and that I have quick labours anyway, i'm a bit worried that when things eventually kick off it will be fast and furious.

Right, going to try and get some sleep.

spongebrainbigpants · 03/06/2008 04:28

I was talking to a friend at the weekend about getting labour started and her and her dh swear by sex and curry but, like you, I have a feeling that all this stuff only works cos baby's ready anyway - otherwise you couldn't have sex or eat curry for your all pg!!

I'm lying on the sofa in a semi-reclined position dreaming of gaviscon and reading through the health section - don't know why, just want to think about something other than pg!

Only 2 more hours before dh is up!

Enjoy SATC if you get to see it - we have contemplated going to see Indiana Jones but I don't think I could sit still that long .

Upsidedowncake · 03/06/2008 06:15

Morning

Up at my usual time - and I wandered downstairs and found DH (he's back ) had left the computer on so I thought I'd get ahead with some reading ...

Alipalli, fab blog.

Sponge, hope you are now sleeping

I can empathise with big feet. I went to the recording of Radio 4 programme in central London last night, and my feet swelled so much, I could hardly sit down. However - and this is lovely - there was a bit of queue waiting for the doors to open, and without even asking, they went and got a chair for me. so I must LOOK bit pregnant at least!

re cucumbers. pmsl. I think I had better stock up.

Right back to bed for a bit.

debinaustria · 03/06/2008 06:56

Oh - just lost all my post!!!

Try again

Hope you early risers got some sleep eventually, I was up but managed to sleep again .

Rolf - hope you get some child free time today to watch SATC.

Allipalli - how are you today?

No signs here, just getting more impatient, and I'm not even due yet.

spongebrainbigpants · 03/06/2008 07:00

I had an hour, between 5.30 and 6.30. My dh is now up and in a v bad mood cos he overslept and is late for a conference call . This is just one of those days where you want to hide under the duvet and not come out I think.

My mum arrives this afternoon though to stay for a few days and help us make a start on the nursery. I need some mummy tlc today .

debinaustria · 03/06/2008 07:17

Oh Sponge - sorry you only got one hour and that the day started badly for your dh. Lovely that your Mum arrives today, have a lovely time with her. I bet she's so excited.
I'm enjoying having my Mil here and my Mum will come over when baby arrives.

spongebrainbigpants · 03/06/2008 07:30

Hi deb, yes mum is v excited - and comes to stay alot nowadays which is lovely (parents live in Brighton). She always makes herself v useful too and I know I will be waited on hand and foot. Course dh runs around after me too, but he's at work during the day so I have to look after myself which is just not on!

I know I'm going to be in a seriously foul mood by this afternoon cos of lack of sleep so think I will just pick her up from the station and then plonk her infront of the telly while I snooze!

Sorry to hear you're getting impatient but no sign of progress - never realised how hard these last few days/weeks were. And to think I want four kids! Adoption is starting to look more and more appealing!!

ErnestTheBavarian · 03/06/2008 07:49

sponge, I was going to be all sympathetic. It's crap when a day starts badly like that, isn't it. But then you lost me.

at people who've got people 'running round after them' or 'waiting on them hand and foot' sniff.

Anyway, it's a bit cooler here, and cloudy. WOuld love a great big storm to clear the air a bit.

Feel like a time bomb now, and I'm not even due officially for 2,5 weeks, but with section booked for Monday, just feel a bit sods law that my waters will break somewhere really embarassing before SUnday pm when I go in.

Can someone MAKE me tidy my house please, as I can't have a baby while it's so messy. I'm too hot and tired to do it. Thanks

sophiewd · 03/06/2008 07:51

Morning all sorry that everyone is not getting sleep.

Laura - if your DH's name begins with P then he has booked you in and will you apologise for the 3 disjointed emails.

spongebrainbigpants · 03/06/2008 08:24

Ernest, sorry didn't mean to make you feel !

My mum and dh do treat me like I'm made of fine china and I'm not allowed to do anything, but this can be frustrating at times cos I just feel useless . .

Sorry, not making things any better am I?!

josey · 03/06/2008 08:46

Morning Ladies
I have woken in the worst mood today I want to scream and stamp my feet at everyone/anything. Poor DH said "good morning darling you ok?" Josey barks "NO"

This bump is so bloody uncomfortable its not natural.

Rolf Ive been tring all different things and still nothing.

Upside glad you DH is home LOL at you going straight on the computer though.

Ernest hope you get your storm.

I think the MW is coming out today so hoping she will maybe get away with giving me a sweep as im only 2 days off 40weeks.

aberdeenhiker · 03/06/2008 09:08

josey - I see my midwife today and will beg for a sweep too. Two days off 40 is really nothing right? Otherwise I wont get one until 40+5 and that's just not fair!

I didn't sleep well last night but am too lazy to come down and turn the computer on. We had a lovely meal out just the two of us, so are thinking of planning another one for Friday night to soften the blow if I'm overdue.

Off back to bed now...

sophiewd · 03/06/2008 09:09

I want to go back to bed

spongebrainbigpants · 03/06/2008 09:14

Have a feeling I might need to start building an ark soon - the rain is showing no signs of easing and the water levels are beginning to rise.

Are we about to have a repeat of July 07? Our house can't flood cos it's on a slight hill, but I remember last July dh and me were helping the old couple across the road bail out their garage - don't think I can do that this year .

They keep on saying on the weather report on the BBC that it's been raining 'on and off' during the night - and I want to phone them and say 'when was the off' cos I've been awake since 1am and it hasn't stopped since then!

Not a day for my flip flops!

PiggyPenguin · 03/06/2008 09:14

Josey, good luck with the sweep - I'm sure the mw will do it if she feels you are ready for it, and you have been having plenty of pre-labour signs so I would really argue your case if I were you.

PP - about the rh-neg. I don't think this is any reason to keep you in for two days. I'm rh neg as well and when I had my dd (2nd baby)I came home from the hospital 3 hours after giving birth. This time I'm planning a home birth so hoping not to go in at all. Last time the mw just took a blood sample from her and then phoned me in a couple of days to say that she was rh- neg too.

Lots of sympathy to those of us who are uncomfortable and fed up. I feel really breathless today but am so glad that I don't live in a hot place aka Ernest/Deb as then it would be so much worse.

Lorettah · 03/06/2008 09:16

Morning all,

I've had another set back last night, the tiler we got to replace the other tiler has let us down, he can't start today. I clearly went into emotional over-load & haven't really stopped crying over the fact the house is never going to be ready! I due in 6 days (which I know might turn into 16) but I'm so stressed out I thought my maternity leave would be a time for me to relax instead all I've done is cry & pick up after workmen.

My DH is also truely f**ked off with it all but I can't help but say to him that it was all his idea & his promise it would be sorted by the time I went on Mat leave and thus I have reminded him its his fault! Probably not that fair of me but I just can't help it.

Sorry long post & another self-indulgent one at that! I really hope all my crying isn't effecting the baby...

Think tomorrow I might just take myself off to watch SATC on my own - at least then I'm not in the house with the builders! Sorry self-indulging again!
