I'm here, just busy, shopping this morning with mil, then took ds2 to a party at the local pool - it rained and now we have a big thunderstorm. Came home and had a nap as I was so breathless and had a few pains, feel a bit better now.

Sorry, but no chance of me catching up with everyone, I'll just wave to you all instead.

poppy34 · 02/06/2008 17:48

essie was me with the puffy feet - did they suddenly get like that? were so sore yesterday..

putting them up seemed to help... and strawberry shortcake making me hungry.

off to check out allipallis blog..

poppy34 · 02/06/2008 17:58

ali -great blog, lovely photos (what a neat bump) and it all looks so slick.. am so impressed

needahand · 02/06/2008 17:59

right just signing in so that I can keep track of where I read up to in the thread.

Finished tidying the upstairs, only the downstairs of the house to do and I am done...I wonder what happens next

Sorry for all of you with insensitive in-laws. I really empathise.

what happens next - you could come nest round here... as I don't think its going to happen to me

Essie3 · 02/06/2008 18:05

Poppy - yes, they expanded yesterday, and haven't gone down since! I mean, it's not agony, but I'm aware of them most of the time!

Will go and put my feet up. I'm really short on enthusiasm for anything anyway!

poppy34 · 02/06/2008 18:09

big sympathy - from my scan of web yesterday - putting feet up, gentle exercise , eating bananas/cucumber juice and lots of water seemed to be the top tips.

sophiewd · 02/06/2008 18:23

Swollen feet, feel very weird and uncomfortable

aberdeenhiker · 02/06/2008 19:09

hi, still here unfortunately, MIL and I took DS out of nursery today and spent the day with him so he and she can bond before I disappear into the hospital. I'm very relieved that he was all over her all day - he'll be fine without me and she was great at jumping up and down to play with him! Now I'm exhausted though and my hips are shot, but DH and I are taking the chance of free babysitting to go out for dinner.

And I agree with josey - wow - there's no way to keep up with you all!

spongebrainbigpants · 02/06/2008 19:55

Essie, yes it was me who thought my feet may develop stretch marks!!

They're huge and nothing I try makes them go down. I can't really lie with my feet too high cos it aggravates my SPD so I'm just stuck with very sore feet.

poppy will try the bananas and water - can't get hold of cucumbers for love or money round here at the mo, been to Tescos 3 times in the last 7 days and every time no cucumbers! Are there lots of women with puffy feet round here stocking up on cucumbers?!!

bitofadramaqueen · 02/06/2008 20:11

spongebrain and Essie - empathy on the swelling feet. Mine are huge and have been for a couple of weeks. I try and ignore them as much as possible. Off shoe shopping tomorrow to try and find something comfortable to put on them as the flip flop weather seems to be rather elusive.

Ali great blog btw!

I eventually baked my cake so its in the oven now. Ticked off nearly everything on my list except studying so maybe will attempt that tomorrow. Off to put my feet up for a bit now I think.

PearTart · 02/06/2008 20:38

Evening!
Lots of chat today- I can't keep up...

Thanks for the kind comments about DD-her foot is fine and she's toddling about as if nothing ever happened.

I'm still hoping to hang on until 9th when I can relax about who to call when DD2 comes. I have made a list of who could come and when- and there are grey areas when I'd be relying on less close friends.
So no RLT for me this week (phew!). Maybe just chamomile (if I didn't have to rely on the odd cup of tea to get through the day).

Needahand- I'm shocked that your BF expected DD to go on the train to London. I mean how/ with whom??
I know I'd be prepared to stay at my friend's house at night and leave DH to look after DD because I've offered to do so for all my friends who are having 2nd babes.

I wonder if the RLT I drank in the last pregnancy caused the fast and full on labour I had with DD1.

Rolf- love your new-mum outfit idea, I'd forgotten how bad black T-shirts look with posset on them. Best to stick with multi-coloured patterns (that's one top then).

Amber- sorry to hear about your mum. I'm sure she'd be so proud of you. I don't know about induction but it sounded like you're carrying a big babe- is that grounds?
Thanks for reminding me about Fathers' Day. I think that his pressy will be a new DD to look up to him! And I'll get a card if I can haul my big bump to town.

Essie- your FIL comments are terribly possessive. That would piss me off no end.

Hello to everyone else- fingers crossed for good night's sleep regardless of heat/ builders/ SPD/ BH etc.

Essie3 · 02/06/2008 21:05

Strange about the cucumbers - couldn't get any in Tesco on Saturday, and none in the local shop, Lidl or co-op today. SpongeBrain might be right - there's a load of women with swollen feet somewhere...(other than this thread!)

I'm trying to drink loads because I don't think I've been drinking enough today and it's been really hot - but even flip flops are leaving marks on my feet!

Had a massive crash, big low this evening - if I wasn't pg I'd think my period was due! Crying for no reason etc. Actually, good reason - made a cake, cooked dinner, but so amazingly clumsy I managed to cut my hand, grate a bit of finger, drop a bowl, burn my fingertips because I forgot an oven glove, and then caught my wrist on the oven shelf... So actually good reasons for crying, thinking about it . I think I'm tired (self diagnosis there) - I had a busy but lovely weekend with friends, but I just can't keep up really.

josey · 02/06/2008 21:16

HEHE DQ I will keep an eye

Ali lovely blog...I tried starting one and havent got very far!!

I have had awful feet they keep turning a blue purple colour with white spots if you can get your partner to rub your feet in an upward direction while drinking lots of water you will actually pee out alot of the fluid.

Peartart I stopped with my RLT a few days ago I think it def helped with my very fast labours but I think it only works if your body is up for it IYKWIM

AH hope you enjoy your meal, your not away for a curry are you lol!Glad MIL getting on with DS.

I have now had loads of texts today any sign ...obviously not plus im not due till later in the week aaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh

spongebrainbigpants · 02/06/2008 21:20

Hmm, think you're probably overdoing it Essie, but I can't talk - I just don't do relaxing!

So, where have all the cucumbers gone? Is this global warming?! Or is it because of the credit crunch? Or should we blame the Government? We should be told!

Just took 20 mins to get off the sofa cos had the most excruciating pain in my pelvis - all across my back, bum, and pubic area, like baby was headbutting me hard between the legs. God, it was horrendous! Please tell me labour pain isn't as bad as this!

josey · 02/06/2008 21:23

Plenty of cucumbers in my shops had cucumber in our dinner tonight

Splodge sounds like baby may just have fully engaged...hate to say that labour will be about 10times worse but you get drugs for that

spongebrainbigpants · 02/06/2008 21:36

josey, if I send you my address will you send me some cucumber?!

good news (I think!) about baby engaging - and thanks for the reassurance on labour pains!!!

josey · 02/06/2008 21:46

Hehe sure I would love to see the look on the postmans face if he is handling a jiffy bag full of cucumbers

spongebrainbigpants · 02/06/2008 21:49

lol!!!!!! dirty mind!!!

josey · 02/06/2008 21:50

sorry sponge I just realised I called you slodge in the last post

josey · 02/06/2008 21:52

I know ...out of badness I would sent them recorded del so you would need to sign for them hehe

spongebrainbigpants · 02/06/2008 22:04

that's just mean - i wld have to get my revenge!

do you realise we're both going to get told off for posting too much if we're not careful!!

PregnantPenguin · 02/06/2008 22:14

Hello big feeted ladies! Still here then? [PP ducks as pregnant ladies throw things at her]. Hee hee.

Had a better day today, no tantrums and no tears. (No, I haven't got any LO's yet, I'm talking about me). Although I am getting fed up of not being able to walk or get comfy.

Went to final NHS antenatal class which was quite fun and also included a tour of labour suites and postnatal ward. The midwife led birthing ward was wonderful and so peaceful, as was the postnatal ward attached - all with ensuites! The postnatal ward and labour ward on the other hand...they were fine, they were exactly what is needed (and no more!). (If you've seen Antonement the hospital they set it in was the one in which I will be giving birth...and nothing has changed since! )

I just don't see me not ending up with an epidural... I'm planning to go into hosp as late as possible anyway, so if I'm lucky enough to be very dilated when I get there I may opt for birthing suite.

Strange thing, labour ward rooms had tvs, birthing suite rooms didn't...perhaps you're only calm enough to watch tv and labour if you've had enough drugs.

Discovered that even if I have a straight forward labour and birth I am likely to stay in for about 48 hours because I am rheus negative and it can take that long to get results back. That's the same time as for a C section!

Also went to see Indian Jones - I've never been so uncomfortable in a cinema before, and we paid extra for premier seats! Good film tho, if you can totally suspend all disbelief.

Right, am off for more RLT - this one will come out soon!

bun2 · 02/06/2008 22:16

Hello all,
been having the most painful run of BH. At one point I swear my stomach was hard for about 20 mins with pains all the way across my lower tummy. Been lying on the sofa all evening because it is too uncomfortable in any other position.
Do you think I should be worried? Baby is moving around alot so no worries there.
