OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
toolly · 23/05/2008 16:53

bumps name

SoExcited · 23/05/2008 16:57

Thanks for all the ideas - Argos do a couple of cheap possible sets. Cotbed, wardrobe and chest of drawers for £299 or £399. Just not sure about quality (although they are both pine, and I guess wood is wood!)

Daniya · 23/05/2008 16:58

toolly - thats an original bump name!! Too close to home for me! Why did you call it that?? You have any german links?

dozymare · 23/05/2008 17:14

oh mabel now I am worrying again!! I did wonder as my Dr is an old fart but felt ever so slightly reassured.......what ahve they said to you about monitoring then??

What is this Amby - where can I fnd info??!

toolly · 23/05/2008 17:29

Dozy mare, here's the amby link again www.amby.co.uk
Daniya, no German links that I know of. Ludwig just came to me and it makes me smile.

mabel1973 · 23/05/2008 17:31

Dozymare- i was given a the blood test about 2 or 3 weeks ago when the 1st child came to playgroup with slapped cheek, my midwife was on holiday at the time, but when she came back she popped by to see me and said that firstly I should have been given councilling before the test, as if it had been positive there would be nothing they could do except monitor me and secondly the results of the test if positive cannot descriminate against whether you'd had it as a child or had it in the last couple of weeks (please bear in mind my midwife isn't the best), although i have been told that i would have known if i had had in the last couple of weeks! I was then told on monday that there had been 2 more outbreaks at playgroup, so I contacted my midwife and she said just stay away, it isn't worth the risk, although, I have read that the risk decreases dramatically at 20 weeks. So as my test was negative and as long as I keep away from infected children, i won't need monitoring.

Yorky · 23/05/2008 19:34

Tooly, my bump is called Talullah, cos I want to call it Bethany/Beth and DH says it does nothin gfor him, so I'm kind of proving there are worse names!
Sorry if its anyones name but I just think of the girl/song from the film with the splurge guns whose name has left me completely (baby brain)

ceebee74 · 23/05/2008 19:39

Yorky - was that Bugsy Malone? the one with all the child actors in it?

Am so tired tonight - those of you bursting with energy, please send some my way

MerryMarigold · 23/05/2008 19:54

ceebee, me too, shattered. started worrying if babies are ok, if my iron levels are ok. am seeing consultant on tues, so hoping things will be clearer. hopsital phoned me during week to say they can't 'deal with me' and i have to get transferred to another hospital (Likely to be Homerton in hackney), which probably has the worst parking in the world, and is quite far away from me too. oh well, i suppose if they have the best facilities for trips. just don't know how i am going to get to MW appointments in this place, with little ds too.

Yorky · 23/05/2008 19:58

I knew someone would know what I meant, shame it wasn't me!
Thanks ceebee
Hi to MM, can't imagine why you're tired! You're doing 3times as much as I am and I'm shattered! Look after yourself

MerryMarigold · 23/05/2008 20:09

to be honest, i think i'm so tired 'cos i am trying to follow some diet advice on what you should eat to produce healthy, max weight triplets and my body is finding it hard to digest the sheer amount. i'm still only eating about 50% of what is recommended! 6,000 calories a day, 10 portions of dairy, 10 portions of carbo, 8 portions of meat, 5 portions of veg, 8 portions of fruit, so many portions of fat (can't remember). hee hee, i'll never be able to eat like this again. i do love my food and i'm not exacly the skinniest person on the planet, but these amounts are doing my head and my stomach in!

dozymare · 23/05/2008 20:24

Oh my MMG - that is incredible!!!!! NO wonder you are so tired! How often are you being scanned/checked??? has the shock sunk in yet??? Do you know the sexes???

DM x

MerryMarigold · 23/05/2008 20:40

don't know sexes yet, only 15+3. got a scan booked for 22 weeks, but hoping there will be one before that as well, maybe when i am transferred to the other hospital. got consultant appt on wednesday so should clear it all up. tbh, there has been no 'follow up' since i found out about triplets, in terms of advice on diet/ exercise etc. which is quite bad considering i am quite far along. my 'book' says you have to put on a lot of weight before 24 weeks because after that you cannot keep up with the babies, so your body uses its stores!!! it's sinking in, we already trying to finish up our house (which has been work in progress for 2.5 years!) and put it on the market, so there's people in doing bits and bobs, and dh doing DIY like crazy. feel sad to sell it, love this place and just when we're finally making it 'nice'. don't know what will happen anyway, there's not much time to do everything, so we may well end up here...we'll see, just opening all the possible doors, and then seeing which ones get closed.

MerryMarigold · 23/05/2008 20:48

A note on the thread title: I thought 'the hair' referred to the hair on your head, because that's where it FEELS like my uterus is!!! ha ha ha ha. I only just got it, looking at it again. how slow am I?!

ceebee74 · 23/05/2008 20:52

Merry - you have put my tiredness into perspective! You are doing such an amazing thing and you must be feeling 3 times everything we are feeling - get that food down you When else are you ever going to be able to eat such quantities of food

Right off to bed now for a ridiculously early night

x

dozymare · 23/05/2008 20:59

merry we are due on the same day!!! I was trying to work out exactly how PG I was and based on a due date of the 11th November, it took a fair few of us to work out that I am 15w+3!! That makes us birthing twins erm triplets erm Quads! Got there in the end!

Right I am off to my bed now!

Nighty night lovely ladies and beautiful bumps (or not as in Pinkali's case!! ;)

DM x

twinklingfairy · 23/05/2008 21:21

I am off for an early night too, after DH has dried my hair, I just don't have the energy. Lord knows what I will look like when he is done!!

bubbaz · 24/05/2008 07:59

Well I am tired but happy after a lovely girlie day out yesterday. It was my cousins birthday so the ladies of the family went to a hotel called Sharrow Bay overlooking Ullswater in the Lake district for high tea- VV posh and very beautiful.I'm sure we lowered the tone considerably when we started discussing bra sizes and BF The weather was gorgeous as was the view and the foods cakes esp were fab.I also got an afternoon on my own without DS. I ate far too much a needed a lie down when I got home .
Sorry to hear people are still feeling sicky and tired, hope it goes away soon.
Has anyone seen anything from Mad4mybaby recently?
If you are lurking Mad hope you are OK.

Creena · 24/05/2008 09:45

Another poster who's shocked at the suggestion of a charge for a pot to piss in! That's ridiculous! I get handed at least two every time I go to my GP for my check-ups (one for my next sample and one 'just in case'). How ridiculous to charge you for the sample pot when the medics are the ones who insist that you bring a sample with you in the first place!

SoExcited I'm not sure where abouts in the country you are but you might like to know that Mamas and Papas have a factory outlet shop in Stoke on Trent. I went there a couple of weeks ago and there were many bargains to be had. For example, a cot, dresser/changer and wardrobe set for just £250 (and they were quite nice ones too).

I'll be popping back there to peruse the nursery furniture in the future but while we were last there, I managed to get loads of maternity wear from their current range at knock down prices (a top that usually costs £40 for a tenner, camis for £2 a piece etc). We also picked up a lovely fold up stroller for when we go on holiday for just £25 (with rain cover thrown in for free) and a group 1 car seat for DS for just £90 (it's got some fab features and is ina lovely design and I think it currently retails at £150). If you can get to Stoke easily enough, I would recommend checking it out.

Creena · 24/05/2008 09:48

meant to mention no bump name here as yet (although last time, my bump was referred to as 'Kenneth' - so glad DH didn't keep it going after DS was born!) but my bump is a peculiar shape. It goes right in at the middle (by my waist) so I've got one bump below my belly button and another above it. It looks like a kidney bean!

lackaDAISYcal · 24/05/2008 12:29

hi there

Creena do they have prams at the factory shop. They have quite a nice twin one that I was eyeing up in the shop last time I was in.

Stoke not too much of a treck for me, and I'm going to Norfolk soon so could drop in on the way home. DD desperately needs her own wardrobe as well as her chest of drawers is fit to burst.

I was just thinking we hadn't seen mad4 for a wee while. I hope things are OK.

Roca · 24/05/2008 12:30

Am trying to get a couple hours work in (hmm) so I can go off holiday shopping for a few maternity bits - we go to Spain in a week to see friends. I like the anticipation of going and just hope I find a few good bits. Oh a shopping trip without the kids - bliss!

Have noticed again that when I lean back my bump goes a triangle shape which I remember from before and always looks a bit odd!

Creena - number 4 for you - how have you found having 3? Does life ever get back to some sort of normality do you think?

Tinkerisdead · 24/05/2008 14:16
