Hi All,
I need to humph. HUUUUUUMMMMMPH.
Thank you

lackaDAISYcal · 23/05/2008 13:19

A quick hello from me...

why the humph tooly?

I've had my booking appointment and then first proper MW appointment. Will see her again at 25 weeks. I'm sure I had more than this last time around, but I'm not that bothered really.....taking Dd with me is proving to be a bit of a hassle as she is very distracting.

I'm now 16 weeks . Can't believe it as it seems to have flown by, especially after the first few weeks dragged and dragged and dragged.

Friends away now, but school hols have started and DCs are demanding my attention. I will catch up better when the DCs are in bed tonight.

I feel bloody knackered after my uber busy week.

twinklingfairy · 23/05/2008 13:48

Yes Tolly, why the Humph?

Why does everyone seem so much further on than me? a wee humph of my own I am only 13 weeks or so and still feeling/being sick and I am plain, well, sick of it!
On the plus side, sorry pinkali, but today I do seem to have a definate bump.
I don't care if it is bloating, which it could well be, it is making up for the feeling poo.
So sick of having to make dashes for the loo and then shaking like a leaf afterwards!

ceebee74 · 23/05/2008 14:11

Twinkling - you are not alone - I am 13 + 3 today and still feeling sicky It is getting better (VERY) slowly but each day is a little bit easier I can't wait to get to the stage of Doctorswife and Oblomov and be bursting with energy!

I know what you mean about everyone being so much further ahead than us but I guess that is the way it is when your baby is due at the end of the month.

As for bumps - I am still in the 'just look fat' phase although I am deliberately walking round at work with my back arched just to try and make everyone (who doesn't know) realise I am pg and not just piling the pounds on

thomasina1 · 23/05/2008 14:15

DM, I am due on 18th Nov and am 14 + 3 today, so yes, I would say you are 15 + 3.

My booking in appt lasted only 10 mins, after I had filled in all the forms! And that 10 mins wasn't particularly enlightening. Never mind, I have you lot to advise me anyway!

Twinkling, my sickness went away at about 10 wks but then today I have been feeling awful and have just thrown up! (do feel better now however!) So I think this whole pregancy symptom thing is just pretty unpredictable. I hope you are feeling a bit better soon!

dozymare · 23/05/2008 14:17

Thank you everyone for working out how far pregnant I am!!! I am going with 15 + 3days!!!

Poor girls who are still feeling sick, have you tried drinking flat full fat coke......my BF swore by it when she suffered from v.v.bad morning sickness....

What is everyone doing today? I am supposedly "working" from home but can't be assed!

YEs oblomov Bluewater is meant to be this friday coming!!!!!!!!! Is anyone else joining us, if not, then let's move! However, I am desperate for clothese that fit!!!

DM x

twinklingfairy · 23/05/2008 14:23

I am sorry that you are feeling sick too Ceebee but also happy to not feel alone. I too am looking forward to the happy days, I know they will arrive they just seem so far away on days like these.
Thomasina, sorry you are having a sicky day too I hope it is only today, for you.

Thank you ladies, see I feel better already

cricri · 23/05/2008 14:29

Welcome back Oblomov and glad you had a good holiday!
I like the name Elise too - it's been on our list of possibles for a while
DM I've just been sitting out in the garden but I'm about to sit down and do a bit of work. If I don't make a start now I'll just have more to do over the BH. A customer wants a rush job for first thing on Tuesday
Sorry to hear some of you are still feeling sick... Fingers crossed it stops soon. I found it gradually tailed off and then eventually stopped all together.

Pinkali37 · 23/05/2008 14:33

DOZY.. YIPPEE & THANK YOU. I'm not the only one wo can't feel the uterus. Great! Quite low down it feels firmer but not higher up i.e. half way between hair line ( to the person who doesn't like the thread title) and tummy button. Oh it's all so confusing.

Congrats Twinkling on your bump. My bloating seems to be getting better but alas no bump still!

As previously mentioned, am away next week so will hope to come back to a bump!

Am of your shopping trip to Bluewater!! Have a great time everyone.

Pinkali37 · 23/05/2008 14:35

Ceebee, spots are a nightmare but as you said my nails are also lovely. This is comign from the person who normally has them really short because they split. So that part is excellent!!

Heartmum2Jamie · 23/05/2008 14:36

Just wanted to say hi and check in, but not time to read all the posts properly as poor ds2 (who had pre-school jab yesterday) is being very hard work today. He is obviously tired, has very flushed cheeks but isn't burning up, but refuses meds even though he says his arm hurts. He fell asleep on the chair (thankfully I managed to get a pull up on him as he had just had lunch/drink but no toilet break) and I made the choice to carry him to bed, ofcourse he woke up, but he is sleeping again now and breathing far too fast for my liking. Poor baby

Tinkerisdead · 23/05/2008 14:38

welcome back Oblomov...funny that a man asked when your due. i think even as a pregnant woman i wouldnt dare ask someone in case they were plump!!

Ive started DH's dinner, want to make individual toad in the holes. Anyone reckon i can do them in a silicone muffin tin??
Ive done all the ironing and now im treating myself to mumsnet!

Crici i felt extremely faint until last week. i couldnt do ironing as standing made me feel really faint. eating didnt help either i just sat down. Thats why im so elated that i feel better, from sickness to extreme dizziness i felt like a prisioner. i was scared of fainting when out and felt sick all the time anyway!

Has anyone else signed up for NCT antenatal? Ive just had my booking form through and it obviously encourages me to be a member but im not really sure what i'd get for the money?

browny · 23/05/2008 14:42

Hi, thought it about time I checked in with you all too , I just don't seem to have the time to get on the p.c. that much, you can blame my two dd's! I've had a little glance through the threads to try and keep up with everyone and I really your trip to Bluewater.... unfortunately I'm too far away in Merseyside . I've been feeling little tumbling movements for a couple of weeks now and today they seemed a little stronger - I'll be 16 weeks this Monday .

Tinkerisdead · 23/05/2008 14:44

what was Toolly's Humppphh?

toolly · 23/05/2008 14:58

I had a booking in appointment, at the 'new improved' Beckenham Beacon. They have shoved the antenatal dept in a corridor with five chairs. It's too narrow to take a buggy and there is no where to change and or feed your other DCs. The old hospital, at least had a dedicated waiting room with toys. Then the midwife mentioned that they were going to start charging for the specimen pot for urine. Unbelievable!.
HUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMPH

SoExcited · 23/05/2008 15:00

Hi everyone. Good to hear other people feeling movements - wondered if I was imagining things. I've booked on NCT antenatal and haven't bothered with the membership - it gets you into NCT sales first, but that's about it. And you get a newsletter once a quarter. But you don't need to be a member to go to their coffee mornings or anything, so I haven't bothered. Can't really afford the extra £40 without good reason.

I would say I do have a definite bump (14 weeks), but maybe only obvious to people who know me (I normally have a very flat stomach, and any extra weight goes on hips/bum).

SoExcited · 23/05/2008 15:02

Toolly - that does sound rubbish. Fingers crossed you won't spend too much time there anyway. Loads of GPs won't got you specimen pots, but I once had a jamjar leak in my bag and now I refuse outright to use my own container!!

toolly · 23/05/2008 15:05

I have no problem with washing it out and reusing but I think they could stretch to a pot to piss in. (sorry for my crudeness). We do pay for this antenatal service don't we?

Tinkerisdead · 23/05/2008 15:09

totally justified humphhh i'd say toolly. Charging for a wee basically!!! i'd say yes i will pay you for the pot however its ten pounds for my piss!

SoExcited · 23/05/2008 15:09

If you turn up without a sample, they would have to give you a pot in order to test (and they'd be negligent if they didn't test). I think it's bizarre...

Tinkerisdead · 23/05/2008 15:13

this is why i love my independant midwife, she asks me to wee directly on the test stick in my own toilet! its fab!

lackaDAISYcal · 23/05/2008 15:15

echo that there isn't any need for joining the NCT. I did, but that's because I want to do their BF counsellor course, and you have to be a member to be able to do it. Can't say that the magazines are all that awe inspiring tbh, and as others have said, you don't need to be a member to go to any of the postnatal groups or bumps and babies.

On the other hand, they are a charity and rely on membership and donations to be able to provide the services, and their BF counselling service is really very good, so if you can afford it, join, but don't sweat it of you can't. I'm not even sure I'll be renewing my membership next year as money will be very tight by then .

Have a good time at Bluewater. It looks enormous on the TV, but I've never been.

lackaDAISYcal · 23/05/2008 15:17

luckily here, there is a big box piss pots on the reception desk at the hopital AN clinic, so whenever I'm there I fill my pockets

thomasina1 · 23/05/2008 15:18

Can I start on cots? I know it's a wee bit early... but MIL wants to buy us one so I am doing some research! I'm assuming the baby won't go into it until about 6 months (moses basket before that) but what i don't know is how long do they stay in it? I'm trying to work out whether a cotbed is a good buy or whether I might be needing the cot for baby no. 2 (forward plannign I know!) by then. We are v short of space so a smaller cot could be better.

Sorry for the rambling!

twinklingfairy · 23/05/2008 15:25

Goodness, how ridiculous.
I would prob go with 'forgetting' my pot every week and then they would have to provide something when I arrived.
Actually I haven't been asked for any yet??
Mind you I have only had my booking in session so far, which took less than half an hour so I am assuming it was my booking in session but the MW was just particularily quick?
Next one is June 12th I think, but she didn't send me away with a pot, so I won't be bringing any wee.
Last time they always gave me a fresh pot.
