Our shiny new thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SoExcited · 22/05/2008 13:31

On the tankini front, my sis recommends buying a bigger size rather than maternity, as she found they are all too baggy on the front. With our exanding busts a bigged top could work well!

lackaDAISYcal · 22/05/2008 13:33

PMSL at the thread title. You realise we'll probably get some sarky MN comments about this, or someone will start a thread saying "you know that thread titled.....well it makes me sick"....hee hee

just a quick hello from me; I have an old friend staying for a few days, so not been able to log on.

yorky, I hope you got things sorted about the strep B.

had MW appointment this morning and heard the baby's heartbeat . I have been having a horrible few days where I've been convinced that something was wrong and she was going to tell me she coldn't find the HB. I've missed having you lot to reassure me I was being nuts.

I am on iron tablets as well. I thought I was just tired from pregnancy, but my iron level was only 10.4. figures why I've been
so knackered lately.

I'll catch up properly tomorrow. Take Care all

Heartmum2Jamie · 22/05/2008 14:20

I did think that we may get stick for the thread title, but at the end of the day, realised that the regulars on this thread would recognise it for what it was, a nod at Pinkali and how her some of her worries and anecdotes make us smile. I have already seen 1 post on the thread from a name I didn't recognise. Let them talk!

I am going to start chasing up the OB's secretary as not heard about the fax yet, but I did miss a call while was at the GP's with ds2. Will ring up Birmingham Women's to see if they have recieved it.

I has to take ds2 for his pre-school boosters today, he did GREAT! He didn't cry and then proceeded to yell at the nurse: "OUCH! That HURT!!" That's my boy, he makes me laugh!.

I was given a prescription for paracetomol. Gave some to ds2 just over an hour ago as he was getting a little grumpy and said his arm hurt. About 30 minutes after that, I was clearing up and noticed the box the bottle came in said "over 6". Poor lad isn't even 4 yet . I feel terrible that I might have given him a double dose thinking it was the younger stuff and overdosed him. Thankfully I only gave him 5ml, but it is the equivilant of giving 10ml of normal 2month+ calpol . What on earth could have happened if the same thing happened and it was the baby and not ds2??. I rang the GP's who said he won't come to any harm, but not to give him anymore of the double strength stuff and to pick up a new script for the younger child version. Seriously, I just attract the worst of the NHS it seem. I almost never have to give pain meds to ds2, I honestly can't remember the last time I had to. Thankfully he is fine, even if he seems a little drunk, like he keeps repeating himself, lol! I think I will take him out in his pushchair in a bit and see if he will sleep it off, lol!

yorky, i missed your post sorry . i had stareted tp post on the other thread and just copied and pasted to here but hadn't read any of it.

sorry to hear it was your GBS result. I have no experience (they don't even routinely test for it here) but it sounds like you are getting good support and advice on the other thread. I hope that you can get the birth experience you want and that you can get home quickly so as not to be away from DS. Wait till you've seen the consultant as well; my MW told me I'd never be allowed a natural birth, but the hospital were very positive and encouraging about it. Sometimes CMWs can be a bit behind what is the latest hospital policy.

heartmum, we had some stick for thread titles on my last AN thread. If people don't like reading them they should hide the topic is what I say!

Creena · 22/05/2008 15:41

You know what? I wish I had the kind of leisurely lifestyle where all I had to do all day was criticise thread titles on the internet..... Just as well that we live in a democratic society where our right to freedom of speech is largely unviolated and we have a free press, which includes the internet.

In other news, it looks like we may be making progress on moving house! We've found a new build property that we absolutely love; perfect size and location, excellent schools neraby, in a lovely village etc etc. The company selling it has offered a house moving scheme to us, where we go on the market through them (at a slighter lower price than usual in order to attract a sale - only a couple of grand or so) and they pay all our fees including stamp duty for us when we sell. I'm feeling so positive about it - I just love the house and am desperate to move. We really need a bit more space if I'm to have a home birth - if we haven't moved before the baby arrives, it'll be a hospital birth for me.

bubbaz · 22/05/2008 16:29

Hi all, I've just got back from my MW app and hart the HB although it did take a while I started to feel movement about half an hour before app - typical just like DS he would never keep still when I had a MW app or a scan.He still doesn't to be honest.
Autumnlady have a fab holiday
I saw the critical comment and just thought but you don't know why do you so kindly keep your opinions to yourself, we do know why and we all think it is funny!
Hope everyone is well

tegan · 22/05/2008 19:07

Sorry didn't realise we had started yet another thread so i have posted on the old one and this one too.

Well ladies thought i would let you know i made a huge faux pas last night.
Had a craving for cheese onion and tomato sauce sandwiches so at 9pm made one, ate it and then spent all last night and most of today feeling like i was full of wind and going to explode.

I guess baby isn't wanting the same cravings as me then.

Pinkali37 · 22/05/2008 20:04

Hi All,

Just sneaking on before I do MORE ironing.

Have just looked back at the strange comment by the unknown person who would appear to enjoy writing on other peoples thread for no apparent reason other than to pass comment on something they really haven't got a bl**dy clue about. IT'S CALLED A PRIVATE JOKE!!!!!!!!

Ok so.... So pleased a few ladies have heard the heart beat today. I also (as you can imagine) am having a nightmare about going. I suppose not having a bump makes me think there isn't a baby inside. Which all 3 of my scans should make me realise is silly.

Yorky, sorry about the result. Hopefully they will sort it out and compromise can be achieved?

LolaBella · 22/05/2008 20:23

Helloooo,
Fab new thread title and very appropriate - i check my growing uterus every night .
Well i'm 17w + 1 and still don't look pregnant at all - a little chubbier but people cannot yet tell i'm pregnant, when will my bump develop i wonder? Pretty convinced i can feel some movement now though, not prods or kicks but swirling movements down in my uterus, just near the hair - sorry best description i could muster
I decided to be an examiner this year for the current GSCE's and 437 papers arrived today i'v got three weeks to mark them somewhere in between my full time job - i will HAVE to drag myself away from mumnet.

Yorky i really hope things can be sorted for you soon

Heartmum2Jamie · 22/05/2008 21:21

Lola, I don't know how you have managed to avoid looking bumpy, I am also 17+1 and feel like everyone must know, like it is really obvious. Also, what you describe is exactly how my movement started 2 weeks ago, now I am getting proper little kicks! Good luck with the papers, rather you than me, lol!

OP posts:
Tinkerisdead · 23/05/2008 10:08

at all the proper kicks. Yorky hope everything gets sorted for you xx

Im feeling great at the moment, classic entering second trimester!!! loads of energy bounding around like an idiot and managed to cook a dinner from scarct every night. my poor DH just hoovers the food up. after me being sick for 6 weeks and him having to cook makeshift dinners of jacket potatoes and cheese on toast he's wolfing it down. I have reassured him that i will stock the freezer before the baby is born so he shouldnt have to struggle again for food!!

Today im going to finish the ironing, pack stuff up for the charity shop and maybe maybe clean my windows. just enjoying being able to do all the jobs without feeling like fainting or puking!

Yorky · 23/05/2008 11:01

Drswife, I am not letting my DH read your post, I am not feeling sick but as DS has decided not to sleep again atm then I have mot got a burst of energy. I am supposed to be starting packing today for going away tomorrow but I'm far more likely to have a nap!
Went to dr this am and have amoxycillin which he says will clear up the GBS, but nice as it sounds he put it on my notes as a water infection which I suppose it is as thats where they found it but nothing I have read in the last week says its so easy to get rid of

Pinkali37 · 23/05/2008 11:47

Hello All,

I am feel good too. TOO GOOD IN FACT. Still getting stupid spots which is annoying me, anyone else?

GUESS WHAT?! Still no bump!! Not sure I can feel my uterus either My bloated bump is coming down though.

ceebee74 · 23/05/2008 11:51

Pinkali - I am completely with you on the spots and it is driving me mad! I get spots anyway but it has been so much worse these last few weeks. With DS, my skin cleared up completely after the first trimester and stayed that way up until DS was about 18 months old so I am really praying that the same thing happens again. But, on the plus side, my nails are just fantastic! They have really grown and are really really strong. I did a french manicure on them on Sunday and they look fab fab fab! I am obsessed with my nails anyway but can never get them to grow or stay long without breaking normally so I am so chuffed. At least 3 people have asked me if they are false (which to me is a compliment )

dozymare · 23/05/2008 12:02

can somebody please please tell me how pregnant I am!!! Due date 11th November - was trying to work out from LolaBelle's post who is 17+2 due on the 29th October and am to thick to do so!!!!!!!

Dm wonders how she used to hold down a job yet along one working on big money accounts!!!

AAAARRRGGGHHHH!!!!

cricri · 23/05/2008 12:03

Hello everyone,
Silly question coming up - has anybody else felt faint when standing up for a long time? I was coaching trampolining last night, which requires me to stand for two hours, and after an hour or so I started to feel a bit dizzy. I didn't think anything of it at first, but when it continued I ended up having to sit down. All the kids were asking me if I was OK I ended up coaching from a chair for the rest of the session. I had eaten before going so it wasn't that. I googled "dizziness in pregnancy" and it seems it can happen at any point during the pg, not just the early weeks - typical! I'll have to see how it goes next time I guess.
On a more positive note, I'm eating normally again and feel more energetic so that's good! My bump is definitely there now too

dozymare · 23/05/2008 12:04

pinkali I am on 3rd PG and I can't find my uterus either - have tried sitting up, lying down, standing and have no idea what I am feeling for!!!!!!!!

As for spots, I changed my routine this PG and it seems to be working, the last 2 I was the Queen of Zits but this one so far so good!

Oblomov · 23/05/2008 12:16

Hello EVERYONE
Back from my course, and our holiday, had the best time, sunshine every day.
I am Blooming. People have started to comment.
I thought Ceebee's picture of her bump was nice - nice shape. but god, you should see mine, it is huge. Lots of people on holiday commented.
And when I was on my course, a man, yes a man, (obviously a sensitive one), introduced himself and asked me when I was due. This really shocked me, because I had no idea that it was obvious.
Heartmum, I really struggled to feel anything with ds and didn't feel kicks until really , really late. Am hoping that I will feel earlier this time. Bit worried I won't be able to differentiate between a kick, fluttering, and a pending ... fart, really !!
I have had bad pains again today and yesterday.
Only just taking in Merrymarigolds 3 NEWS !!!!!

I have no boys names. I think it is a boy now, even though dh predicted a girl.
I like Elise. And Dh suggested Autumn.

LackaDAISY, Roca, and Pinkali were discussing Eliza. I saw the name Elise on a mumsnet thread a while ago and I love it. It is not in the top 20, but it is not that unusual, based on Elizabeth aswell. What do you think. I am happy to share it
Help with boys names please.
I Like very normal/traditional names for boys. I prefer more unusual names for girls. Suggestions please ?

ceebee74 · 23/05/2008 12:16

Dozymare - I get you to be 15 + 3. Well, you have to tell us what your new routine is rather than just teasing us

Crici - funny you should say that as I am sat at my desk now feeling a bit dizzy. It came on about 10 minutes ago and it is not bad but I feel a bit light-headed. I am sat down aswell

Oblomov · 23/05/2008 12:20

Dozy, you nikenpoopy, what are you like.
You can't work out how many weeks you are ?
You are 15 1/2
Try this link :
www.justparents.co.uk/pregnancy/tools/due-date-calculator.html

Oblomov · 23/05/2008 12:29

Dozy, glad to see someone having a planned c section. Me too. A second. Midwife, suggested VBAC. But I don't want that. I am very happy with my decision.

dozymare · 23/05/2008 12:30

oblomov welcome back!!! You sound as lif you had a lovely time!! Still on for bluewater next week??!

Yes, Yes I KNOW I am a thicko as I also worked it out to be 15 plus 2 but then my actual due date of the 11th Nov is a Tuesdya so couldn't see how that worked?? AM I just being really really thick??!

As for my skincasre routine, I am using Chanel Sublimage which is bloody expensive but so so good........I rationalise the cost by thinking how much I am saving by not eating prawns!!!

Glad we are thinking names oblomov we have lots of girls but NO BOYS! even though we are predicitng another boy we are stuck stuck stuck...only think we both don't mind is Finn. Girls we like are Layla Grace, Scarlett Grace or India (indy) Grace.......

I think Elise is beautiful BTW!

DM x

dozymare · 23/05/2008 12:32

yes re planned C section.....having had 1 emergency and 1 beautiful PLANNED one, there is no way in a million years I am eveng oing to think about a vadggy delivery - I think I have a phobia about it now based on what happened with DS1.

Question to everyone should I have had a midwife meeting yet????

DM x

Oblomov · 23/05/2008 12:37

Dozy, Bluewater, is next WEEK ?
God, doesn't time fly. WHEN ? I am not sure if I can make it.
I have had my first midwife appointment. My 'booking in'. 1 1/2 hrs of how many pregnancies, bloods, loads of questions. Have you not had that ?
Where are all the boys names suggestions ?

ceebee74 · 23/05/2008 12:40

Dozymare - and I get 15+ 3 so obviously between us it is proving difficult to decide how pg you are!

Oblomov - welcome back - glad you had a lovely time - probably just what you needed after all the stresses with the hospital.
