OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Pinkali-I think that's the thing with most baby things- there is no perfect one size fits all solution- what works for one may barley make it out of the box for another!

If you get something with a decent resale value- it's a pretty safe bet, at least if you hate it once baby comes you won't lose too much money.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 16/06/2008 16:19

barely lol my typing today!

misdee · 16/06/2008 16:33

dd3 is unusual proprtins though. she is small, but somehow appears to sit in things higher up than my friends lad who is bigger and broader. i think she just doesnt slump as much as other kids.

it is a lovely buggy though, and was so easy to steer with her in it. i could've got it but would've had to take the hood off to use it for her.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 16/06/2008 16:46

She might be longer in the body? DS is like his dad; tall, but it's mainly legs! I have quite a long body.

misdee · 16/06/2008 16:49

yes, as her tops have to be longer/bigger size than her trousers. so could be that.

misdee · 16/06/2008 16:51

oh and thank you all for saying my girls are cuties. i keep thinking if i have a boy will he has masses of hair like the dd's did and if so what do i do? as the last two have had very gorgeous girly curls lol.

i cant wait to find out what i'm having, only a couple of weeks now till i find out.

MummyAnnabella · 16/06/2008 16:55

can i add my tuppence worth on prams...

i too this time last year was highly excited re picking my pram and only the best would do for my firstborn. spent £600 on jane travel system which i do love.

however it is heavy and now ds is out of carseat and carrycot i have succumbed and bought mclaren and you can guess which gets most use. the jane is fine if you walk everywhere but once you go back to work and are lifting it in and out of car it is heavy.

my friend bought the phil & ted which you can buy a doubles kit for so i would say if you are expecting your first but plan another in next few years get this and you can convert to a double. otherwise the travel systems are great but only for first 6-9 months so think about that.

Your lo's are gorgeous, misdee. DS has lots of blond curly hair, I hoped DD might have it but it seems to be straight like mine.

I often wish I'd bought the P&T first (much as I loved my frog)- didn't know I'd get pg when DS was 7months old, though! It took us 2 years to conceive him,and a month for DD!

I don't drive- so it is a big factor with the prams, I think.

lackaDAISYcal · 16/06/2008 17:09

gosh i didn't realise we were neaqrly out of thread already....too busy being gas bags

pinky, I did see that on the P&T Vibe thanks I love the look of it, but would need to see one up and running. Does the newborn still go underneath with the toddler on the high seat option? It's all so bloody complicated.

I need to get mine advertised on ebay...DH says No more prams till the ones we have are sold...as I have three at the minute; four if you count a tatty old tiny umbrella stroller that was DSs.....I had just bought a very lightweight stroller for the back of the car wehen I found out I was pregnant. Plan to sell the McLaren and the "big" pram and then get a P&T. I should cover half the cost of the P&T doing that.

hmmmm thread title.....how about "halfway to paradise"...or is that just far too cheesy????

Pinkali37 · 16/06/2008 17:14

Can i ask, is the new quinny classed as a trvael system? It has everything in it from birth to about 4 as it has the pushchair bit too. I think all the new prams seem heavy (or am i just a wimp )

bubbaz · 16/06/2008 17:38

Misdee my DS has loads of girly curls and he is a red head too. So very cute when he was little but we tend to keep it short now cause it is very unruly. Boys with curls are great!!
Im very re the new prams but may have just changed my mind about the M&P double as I recall someone said it fell to bits, Might look at the Maclaren twin.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 16/06/2008 18:03

Laackadaisy- as far as I can tell it works the same way ass the old style-newborn in sling seat, toddler on top, yes. It does look very nice but you could get an old v2 like mine for much less money- I wouldn't get the sport it's got loads of glitches.

ceebee74 · 16/06/2008 18:19

Wow have struggled to keep up with all the pram talk!! It is like a different language to me That Red Kite one looks lovely and even DH seemed impressed (certainly by the price anyway!)

Been for my first ante-natal check up today and everything was fine thankfully - it took her ages to find the heartbeat and she was starting to look a bit worried (never mind me!) then when she did find it, we listened to it for about 10 seconds and then the baby went and moved and she lost it again! Bloody typical - have been waiting all these weeks to hear it and I get 10 seconds worth!

not had chance to read to catch up latest messages, started my book from bookclub and now booked holiday in devon. It came down to bath, devon or isle of wight and DH has chosen devon as he wants to see crocodiles at the zoo!!!!!!

pinkali he isnt a doctor, he is a housing developer (hard times!) my MN name refers to the motoGP rider valentino rossi, he is known as the doctor and his number is 46. I love him. i wish he was my DH and not this crocodile hunter .

zonedout · 16/06/2008 20:09

aaargh, am totally lost amongst the zillion posts about prams, sore toes and cheesy rice... oh no, that one was weeks ago...

just popped in to say hello and that all was well at my 20 wek scan today. lots of wriggling, waving and kicking from the little one and I managed to not find out the sex... dh and i were extremely tempted but i do love the surprise at birth.

i am afraid i haven't had a chance to read through all of the pram talk and add anything helpful but i do have a question for 2nd/3rd/4th timers... my ds will be 2.9 when the next one arrives. he still has all his naps in the bugaboo but aside from that we barely use a puschair any more (if we use anything we use our falling apart maclaren quest to get to the park/shops etc). so i am really unsure of what to do in terms of a double buggy... i plan to sling the baby as much as possible so it probably feels like a waste of money to buy a double... on the other hand what if my ds keeps up his naps for another year or so [wishful thinking emoticon] or if occasions arise where i need the two of them in a buggy at the same time... help please!!!

also, has anyone got any good recommendations for a soft sling? i still have the baby bjorn from my ds (which i liked) but fancy one that i may be able to breastfeed in and even wear around the house if needs be.

xxx

coolkat · 16/06/2008 20:11

Hi ladies wow all this pram talk, I think I know what pram we 'need' but have not been to see and test drive it yet, we like the Britax vigour 3+ as it faces both ways and has a carry cot etc. We need a 3 wheeler as we live just down the road from a county park and the paths can be a little rough.

Sorry to hear about toe doctorswife, glad bump was ok though.

Glad you hear hte heartbeat Ceebee, although it was only 10 seconds it is still lovely to hear.

MM whoever said the tandem maclaren gets hard to push is right my friend has twins and had this pushchair and by go it was hard work. I definately find pushchairs with Pneumatic tyres much easier to push although I would also say def get one with a swivl front wheel.

Sorry for the ramble, it had perhaps all been said before. My pelvis and lower back have been worse today and I feel quite down as don't want to be seen like I am moaning. My pregnancy with DD was perfect and she was a 9lb baby but this time I feel knackered already!!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 16/06/2008 20:28

Hey some antenatal news in amongst the product reviews! Good news re your antenatal, ceebe, just a shame baby was soo wriggly.

Glad the scan went well, zonedout!

Re-pram- I'd be tempted not to get a double if I were in your shoes, and just get a board instead. The wheeled board for the bug can have a seat but not one for sleeping on.

If you are going our around the time DS had his nap, you could take the stroller and keep baby in a sling?

I've got a couple of different wraparound slings- but the best thing you could do is find a sling library near you and try some out.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 16/06/2008 20:31

coolkatt sorry to hear you are feeling bad. I know what you mean, I have felt thoroughly fed up for parts of this pregnancy and sometimes I can't bring myself to post on here as everyone seems so (justifiably) happy.

There is a group in Leeds called the White Rose Baby Wearers who meet regularly and you can try various slings for size/comfort. They have a yahoo group which I'm going to join.

Tinkerisdead · 16/06/2008 20:45

im down too... ive cried loads today...not just cos of my manky toe, my lack of scan, my vandalised car, my witch of a SIL who still hasnt apologised for dead baby comments!

But that my dh doesnt seem to understand how much my body changes, that i cant help waddling through town due to pressure in my pelvis. that i cant help but get excited about flutters in my tummy, sorry if its boring to you, that no thanks i dont want sex and fuck if you tickle my tummy and i leap in the air it pulls my ligaments so hard yes i'll cry. If you read the blokes pregnancy books you bought, you'd know all this! knob head!! having said that im told this is normal!

Anyone else want a good ole moan?

lackaDAISYcal · 16/06/2008 20:46

good news on the scan zonedout

coolkat, moan away; it's what we're here for!

My pregnancy with DD was pretty horrendous, with AND, backache, and general all round misery and hyper hormonalism. After two mcs i felt really bad for feeling so awful; so I know where you are coming from.

this one feels more like the pregnancy I had with DS.....so maybe another boy?????

Thanks for the chocolate.

I ate whole packet of chocolate mini rolls on the (5min) walk back from the shops yesterday evening- that's how fed up I was feeling.

But that was a great post, DRswife- I think you covered all the bases there!
