Our shiny new thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
vbab78 · 12/06/2008 16:43

lolabella & Heartmum2Jamie - Congrats on your little boys.

You have now all started making me doubt that I want the surprise this time of baby's flavour. I was so sure until I read your posts.

Now so confused . Also worried that if I find out like a few people I know did that like them the flavour they were told was wrong . Even worse items had been bought based on flavour that couldn't be returned by family and friends. DONT KNOW NOW.

Tinkerisdead · 12/06/2008 16:56

wow only just been able to get back on here, Pinkali very reassured by your bumps and your norks hun. cheers for going public for me!!! im not feeling proper movements, odd shuffle and flutter but only if i lay on my tummy with a leg up, like the recovery position!!!

twinkling glad to hear your so positive, wishing you good luck at "thing" in womb.

lola heartmum and chocorange congrats on yoir scans and to those who have ickle boys in their belly. You've driven me mental as i dont want to know the flavour and you guys have made it so tempting to find out!!! argh.

I still dont have a scan date so i'll look whistfully at all of yours!

Oblomov · 12/06/2008 17:30

Congratulations to Lollabella, Chocorange and Heart2mum on their scans.
Wow, we start with 3 boys.
I wonder who will be the first to have a girl prediction ?
Toolly, I will see you at Kings, on the 1st. I will be in diabetic clinic all morning and then scan at 12.30. See you then !!

ChocOrange05 · 12/06/2008 17:44

Lola and Heartmum I'm not sure congrats is the right thing to say when finding out the sex (I don't think you did anything to decide it ) but I am very happy for you both as you both seem pleased !

Heartmum your scan photo is so clear - it looks great, although I can't believe you are ok about living with 4 BOYS!!! Gosh, I am coping with 1 at the moment - DH!

Thanks for all the nice comments on my scan photo. This will probably be my last post for a couple of weeks so goodbye to all until 30 June and hope everyone who has scans between now and then gets good news.

bubbaz · 12/06/2008 17:46

Congrats to you too Heartmum your pics are so clear. Now I want to know too (stamps foot) but DH is adamant he wants a surprise.
Docswife any luck with your midwife contacting them about your scan?

ChocOrange05 · 12/06/2008 17:47

Oblomov and DrsWife - I don't know what I am having yet BTW!!

Cricri and DrsWife I'm not finding out either and I feel a bit left out but I still really want a surprise!

Dozymare · 12/06/2008 17:57

Chocorange Congrats on your scan - lovely pictures...very clear!!! Have a fabulous time in Barbados, am very very Did you manage to send./receive a book in time btw?

Heartmum - I am sure I will be joining you in the 3 boys scenario...I cannot see myself with a girl (although if I am absolutely honest,I am desperate for a girl to even out the tesosterone in my house) However, they say that after having 2w of the same sex, you only have a chance of less then 30% of concieving t'other. You are so upbeat about it, I think I will be shocked/upset initially if I am told another boy, hence why I am finding out as really need to prepare myself for more male hormones!!!!! i hope that doesn't sound ungrateful, obviously I would love another boy, but if I could choose it would be a girl to even things out!

lolabelle Congrats on your little man - as those of boys know, they always always love their mums!!! So have you got any names yet???

Off for baths now, back on later

....

......

yup, 13lbs LOST

woohoo for all the scans and congratulations on the blue bumps heartmum and lola

Still undecided about finding out here, but am hoping that it will be so obvious the sonographer doen't need to tell us.

I've been in A&E all afternoon with DS. He fell and crakced the back of his head on the tarmac at school at lunchtime, and was feeling sick and woozy with blurred vision so doc said go straight to A&E. He;s fine, ha has mild concussion, but the clapol has worked its magic and he is now charging around the house pretending he's Ben10 and trying to justify why he shouldn't go to school tomorrow.

Oblomov · 12/06/2008 18:07

Heartmum, me and Dozy want a girl, but we discussed the fact that we both think we are having boys. I am convinced that I will be joining you in the boys camp, but that is not for another, nearly 3 weeks.
Stamps foot like Bubbaz. I too want to know NOW.
Sorry to chocorange, I misunderstood the post about it all being boys and thought that you knew too.

Oblomov · 12/06/2008 18:11

Daisy, goodness me, that its alot to lose.
I have put on that much atleast. Plus some. Not good.
Are you still continuing to lose ? Are you feeling o.k. ? They(doctors/MW) are not concerned, are they ?

juanitad · 12/06/2008 18:31

Wow, it's so exciting now that some people are at the half way stage and the rest of us are fast approaching! And it's great that there have been such wonderful scans recently. I've got the date for mine toda - 1st July, the day after my birthday! So hopefully it will be a nice belated birthday pressie to find out everything is ok (fingers crossed). I always said I wasn't going to find out the sex, but I must admit I'm quite tempted now after today's news!! I am 17+4 today and the bump doesn't seem to be getting much bigger - the kids at school STILL haven't cottoned on....I must admit, I am looking forward to one of them asking me and finally being able to reveal it!! Most people are telling me I shouldn't wish a big bump on myself, as by the time I hit 40 weeks I'll be wishing it wasn't so big!!

LolaBella · 12/06/2008 18:56

Thanks for all your congrats guys - the news is sinking in. Had to pop into Next earlier to have a look at the little boy outfits

Dozymare as we have found out the sex we are keeping the name a suprise - although got a few in the pipeline

vbab good luck for your scan tomorrow, i will be looking out for your post and seeing what you decide. Also, there was little mistaking the flavour of our little one. The sonographer freeze framed us an extremely obvious picture

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 19:01

bump seems fine oblomov . I lost it pretty quickly and just haven't gained anymore so I think on aggregate I'm still losing weight. It's gone from my bum and thighs and upper arms, but my bump is still of decent proportion and I can feel the top of my uterus just at my belly button, so I'm assuming all is OK was drinking rather a lot of wine before getting pregnant and eating chocolate every day so I reckon it's just my much healthier habits now I'm pregnant.

I was a bit worried about it, but there was a thread about losing weight in pregnancy on here the other day and it reassured me a little. I've decided there's little point worrying about it until my scan next week.

misdee · 12/06/2008 19:03

congrats to heartmum and lola on your boys!

if you start to grieve for girls at all i can send u three hyper ones! they are driving me mad today lol.

misdee · 12/06/2008 19:06

reharding weight, with my previous pregnancies i lost laods of weight (well over 13lb) due to hyperemeis gravidium, this time i have gained 2lb so far. i lost initially in the first 12 weeks, just a few pounds, not the huge amounts like before.

am hoping not to gain loads as need to loads weight anyway, so am watching what i eat anyway.

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 19:14

lol misdee, I have a 1 yr, 1 wk old DD who has started the terrible twos already....free to a good home .

I think running around after her is helping as well.....and tbh I was nealry 13 stone and am only 5'2" so had it to lose...and some

ceebee74 · 12/06/2008 19:37

Lolabella and HM2J - congratulations on your scans and what fantastic news about the boys - I am of both of you having your scans, finding out what you are having and it being a boy! Boys are just the best!!
Come and share some names with us now

Weight gain - I have put on about half a stone I reckon which isn't bad considering my diet has pretty much consisted of cheese for the last 3 months!!

x

Heartmum2Jamie · 12/06/2008 19:53

Thanks you all for your wonderful messages. I think I have suprised myself with how well I have taken the news of another little boy. Perhaps the fact that I have fallen utterly in love with his profile is helping combat any gender disappointment I thought I might have felt. I really don't think people believed me when I said I honestly didn't mind what I had so long as it was healthy, I'm not even sure I believed it, lol!

As for weight, I have gained a grand total of 3lb so far. I am sure I gained about 15lb with ds2. I do remember being worried about my lack of weight gain, but midwife said it was fine. With ds1 I put on 2 stone and was overweight to begin with.

This conversation about weight isn't stemming from that awful programme last night is it? Britain's Biggest Babies?! It was horrific and annoying.

OP posts:
misdee · 12/06/2008 19:55

that programme last night was awful. my dd2 was bigger than that chip only baby at a year old, not 18months. i defend big babies all the way. and little ones. (there are so giant baby pics in my profile)

lackaDAISYcal · 12/06/2008 20:09

I never watched that programme and I hope my dear SIL didn't either. Her 10mo old twins are bruisers, but they have a normal healthy diet, nothing out of the ordinary like chips three times a day. They are just big boys, and have been since birth, 6lbs and 6lbs 3 at birth at 38 weeks.

My DS was a bit of a pudgy baby, just under the 91st centile. He is now a skinny little 6 year old rake.

chocolategal · 12/06/2008 20:11

just popping on. congratulations on all the scans in last couple of days.
the pictures are amazing, am hoping mine will be as clear as those!

just a quick question, has anyone had any experience with the icandy apple pram?

bubbaz · 12/06/2008 21:04

I must admit I watched it!! My DS was 8lb 4 at birth and was a proper porker WELL over the 91st centile at all of his checks and is now a perfectly 'normal' healthy weight, he lost it once he got moving at a year old. I love fat babies!!! all babies are lovely TBH!

misdee · 12/06/2008 21:06

see, dd2 was OFF that charts completly

MerryMarigold · 12/06/2008 21:10

oh lolabella, your scan post made me so emotional, you sound so happy and it's all so vivid. Boys are great, mine is a total mummy's boy at 2.5!

Heartmum, so glad you found out and got to fall in love. Seeing the baby on the scan is incredible and you just can't HELP love it.

For those wondering whether to find out, we didn't on our first, and I am still glad I went that route. This time I was debating whether to find out, but now really want to know if it is 2 boys, 2 girls or one of each.

Bit I will miss most of your 20wk scans as I'll be away with no internet access. Mine is not until 9th July, so ages to go, but not minding the wait, keeps time ticking on!

My ds was 8lb3 and never lost any weight after he was born. He was a really chubby baby and then lost it all when he started moving (late!) at about 9 months. He is now very skinny (a bit too skinny tbh) and wearing clothes 6mths to a year younger than his age. It's just the way he's made! Although I do miss all that baby chub. I've put on nearly a kg. This is less than I am 'supposed' to (according to a book I have). Bump is HUGE though.

Got a consultant appointment tomorrow. A little nervous...don't think there will be a scan, but I'm sure they'll listen for the heartbeats. I'd love a scan to re-confirm the twins and definitely rule out triplets. It feels a bit like I am living in limbo at the moment.

Dozymare · 12/06/2008 21:28

merrymari you should perhaps explain to your consultant about your fears (just in case it is trips) I am sure they will oblige with another scan!!!!! How exciting for you!

As for big babies - I have had a 10.5lbs and a 8lb 14oz!! Both on the 95% percentile but now they are both "average" in fact, younger is now a skinny little waif!

Despite the fact I am convinced I am having another boy (even though Desperate for a girl as Oblomov has already stated!) I am already hopelessly in love with this little one.......I think because (like many other 3rd timers) this was unplanned and definately my last I am just enjoying it for what it is.........

Anyway am really off to bed now!
