Our shiny new thread!!

hana - that's brilliant. I didn't realise that it was hard to find the HB at 16 weeks. My mw went straight to it which was re-assuring.

Will look at my blood pressure results tonight and post them tomorrow. I know my result at 10 weeks was really low at something like 86/62 and that was when I was standing up and falling over. Feeling faint can be down to a number of things, namely iron levels, blood pressure or having a sugar low so check you are eating sufficiently and ensure you have a couple of boiled sweeties in your pocket for that wobbly moment!!

Laura- can't do wednesday as I work on a wednesday but would definitely love to meet in the future. x

All this talk of movement and bumps is making me very envious!! I can't wait until I feel the first movement - nothing yet at 16+1. And no real bump, just a bit of a wobblly belly - although I've been in maternity trousers for weeks cos they're so damn comfy. I don't think I ever want to go back! Normal clothes aren't this comfy!! Went back to work today after half term, and I had been away the week before that, on a school trip, so I think a lot of my colleagues were expecting to notice the change in me, but one even said that I looked slimmer. This is the one time in my life that I do not want someone to tell me I'm looking slim!! Maybe it's the fact that I bought myself a pregnancy fitness DVD - 2 in fact - and did them while I was off work. I must admit, I was expecting them to be nice quiet, gently affairs, a bit of stretching here and there, but they were both a bit mad! One was Erin O'Brien (who is married to the guy who plays Mike Delfino in Desparate Housewives by the way). She must be about 38 weeks pregnant in the DVD, honestly she looks like she could give birth at any moment. So I was thinking that it would be fairly easy to keep up with her, but she is VERY fit, I found myself struggling half way through the video. She just kept going and going. The other one is a double DVD, with a pre- and post-natal work. The woman is called Sharon Gregory or something like that, and the workout is pretty good, but again, hard work. I would recommend both of them though, if you want a decent workout. I used to go to the gym a lot, but I must admit I'm less inclined to now, I feel more comfortable huffing and puffing in the privacy of my own home! My gym doesn't have any classes specifically for pregnancy, although I know you can still go to other classes if you make sure you take it wasy. Anyway, that's my fitness ramblings over for today. Will try to post a picture of my bump later as lots of people are doing, it's good to compare!

Pinkali37 · 02/06/2008 17:16

Nope not from South Africa.

I looked at the site the other day but like a few others would prefer it to be private. If you go into privacy settings you should be able to do it!!

ChocOrange05 · 02/06/2008 17:17

South Africa?!?! Nope, I'm from sunny England - I assumed most other people were too! Thats exciting that we have a worldwide audience though. Is anyone else from far far away (from England!)??

Heartmum2Jamie · 02/06/2008 17:33

I'm not from South Africa either!! Must have a look for the group tonight.

Lola, you belly is so lovely and neat, I don't think I have ever looked that good, lol!

Good news on people hearing heartbeats today and more people feeling movement. As for BP, mine was 108/64 at 8 weeks, 105/60 at 14 weeks and 100/60 at 17 weeks, so going down. No wonder I feel well ropey sometimes as my usual bp is 110/70.

Right the group is now secret and can't be viewed at all by none members nor will it show on your profile.
Chocorange I will send you an invite now - could you invite Dozymare?
Anyone else who wants to join email me on patriciahepple at btinternet dot com with your email and I will invite you that way.
Hope it works!!
Just checked my BP it was 110/60 at 6 weeks and 16 weeks. I felt a bit faint on Sunday when we were shopping but I think I was just hungry! The MW really struggled to find the HB both times but she did eventually.

ChocOrange05 · 02/06/2008 17:51

Thanks bubbaz I have joined and will invite DM too!

ChocOrange05 · 02/06/2008 18:36

Bubbaz I have the same request from South Africa. If the mum2be in question is on here please confirm that you sent the request so we can accept you!

LolaBella · 02/06/2008 18:43

Thanks guys on bump comments - it is really hard to tell if it is growing each week when you see yourself everyday. So iv started a photo album of developing bub as suggested by Heartmum

Anyway, looking forward to seeing more developing bumps over the coming weeks

coolkat · 02/06/2008 19:01

Hi Ladies back from Lanzorote!

Wow some impressive bumps, mine was covered in a tankini in the end as I felt to conscious in a bikini!

Bump definately growing and seems to have moved up. We had a lovely holiday apart from me forgeting DH's trousers and men had to wear trousers to dinner at night- oops, we ended up going to a main shopping resort and he had to buy some (£64!!) he was not impressed

Really tired today as we did not get back until 2 this morning, back at work tomorrow and I need to calculate how pregnant I am as I have lost track, somewhere around 18/19 weeks!!

juanitad · 02/06/2008 19:24

Hi again all,

Have put a piccie up of the bump/non-bump - am 16+1 today. Also have put my 12 week scan photos which I never got round to putting up before now.

Yorky · 02/06/2008 19:39

Hello again everyone, very of everyone feeling movement, and having a bump worthy of the name - mine is still just flab!
No MW till next week when I will be 16wks so want to hear HB, although I'm psyching myself up to stand up for myself and say I've done some research and I don't think I want the ABs during labour for the GBS so can I go back to plan A and have it at home Bit nervous. Trying to convince myself that there is nothing I can do till much further on hasn't worked so going to try and get a decision now so its not hanging over me.
I don't know my BP but she said it was fine, but I've been having that light headed feeling when I stand up sometimes.
I'm not from South Africa either
Coolkat, blame DH for not packing his own trousers - you officially are supposed to have baby brain!

ceebee74 · 02/06/2008 20:56

Evening all

Merry - none of what you have said about yourself or your sister rings any bells with me - sorry! Plus, this is my married name anyway

Chocorange - glad Boyzone were good. I just need to summon the energy to be out until midnight after a day at work!! Plus I think I will have to drive as my friend who I am going out with has a 5-week old baby so I am guessing she is going to be even more weary than me

Blood pressures - mine is usually around 110/70 which is fairly normal I think.

Am very of those of you hearing heartbeats and feeling movements! My next MW appointment is not for another 2 weeks and I am not feeling anything at the moment either.

Am guessing that it is not going to be long before all the 20-week scans start - who is first?

x

vbab78 · 02/06/2008 21:27

Hello everyone. PInkyminkyohnooo pointed me in the direction of this thread as I am due on the 3rd of November.

I think it will take me a while to catch up on what has been happening with you ladies. Especially as there is 16 pages!

Just a little about me ... I am expecting my 2nd child. I have a son who is 2 this month. My bump seems to have popped out very quickly this time around. Touch wood I've had no health complaints or morning sickness with this pregnancy the same as my son. I'm really excited at being pregnant especially as I had a miscarriage just before x-mas. In between working 4 days a week, chasing my son, tidying up after my son and husband I try to relax but more often than not I'm exhausted.

I've got my 2nd "detailed" scan on the 13th June when I am 19 weeks.

MerryMarigold · 02/06/2008 21:32

These bumps are very cute. I feel huge too. I know I have a good reason too, but I am really, really HUGE...I was large with ds tbh.

I'm not having a scan till 22wks. Can't wait to find out sexes. I didn't with ds, waited for a surprise, but this time I want to know!

I've only felt movements a couple of times. I'm finding it very uncomfortable to sleep now, which is worryingly early. My knees hurt all night!

I felt lightheaded and a bit nauseous on Sunday, realised I had not eaten for 4 hours. Dh got me a packet of waffles! Made me feel a lot better...

Anyway, take care all. And hope

ChocOrange05 · 02/06/2008 21:34

My 20 week scan is on 12 June and from memory there are a couple of others on that day. We must be near the firsts as I am due on 1 November.

MerryMarigold · 02/06/2008 21:37

Wow, choc, that's about a month before mine. Mine is 9th July.

ChocOrange05 · 02/06/2008 21:43

Ok - I've put bump photos on now, but I warn you, they're not pretty!

MerryMarigold · 02/06/2008 21:47

that's a nice bump, choccie. it's about half my size too! sadly, i haven' taken any photos to post and comfort you - i'll try sometime.

ChocOrange05 · 02/06/2008 21:56

Thanks Merry - I wasn't so keen when I saw them, it was a bit of a shock to see actually but i keep reminding myself of the eventual benefit!

lackaDAISYcal · 02/06/2008 22:08

Don't listen to that mad yorky one! I have met her and she is skinny as a rake....flab indeed

Hi vbab and welcome. Just slot in, you'll soon catch up with who is who

Dozy, I got your e-mail and have replied now

lackaDAISYcal · 02/06/2008 22:10

oh, am loving the bare first time bumps.....mine will be hidden under a t-shirt as I don't want to scare anyone with the c-section scar and stretch marks

PInkyminkyohnooo · 02/06/2008 23:09

Vbab glad you found us!

Good news on hb today.

RE anaemia- the main ones to watch are for HB levels and ferratin levels. The other test may indicate the size of the platelets- somnetimes they are not only too few, but too small as well ( has a specific name that I can't remember just now).
Ferratin levels are the level of iron stored in your reserves. I don't store it at all well, my levels tend to be around 7- very low. Flouradix is another good non ferrous sulphate supplement to take, but make sure you are getting enough.

LACKSADAISY, My bump is apparently a proper bump, not just a large beer belly shape anymore, which is reassuring- Not sure I want to reveal it, though!
Did you see my post about the car? We tried the seats ands they did fit.

PInkyminkyohnooo · 02/06/2008 23:13

I'm confused how far on I am now. I thought I was 17 weeks. My 20 week scan isn't til 25 june, but I'm due 3rd Nov. Very confused now.

vbab78 · 02/06/2008 23:17

PInkyminkyohnooo - i'm due 3rd Nov and as far as I know i'm 18 weeks and having my scan at 19 weeks (week on fri).
