Our shiny new thread!!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Oblomov · 31/05/2008 15:02

Heartmum, so sorry to hear that they are stil mucking you about. This is a disgrace isn't it ?
I think you are going to have to take a deep breath and get ready for a fight
Ring first thing monday. Calmly. Be forceful. If no letter, ring back and say you need it faxed, like now, in the next 15 mins. Then ring again. You have to be systematic in these things. Don't let anyone off the phone until you have got them to do what you want.
Oblomov is very very good at these things , through years of diabetic rubbish admin, and through fun and frolics with everyone from Sky to BT to HMCE to Inland Revenue, oh I have had a 'game' with the very best.
Hope you get success, SOON.

HELLO.....

Ireland was FAB... weather was gorgous and family were as usual totally mad but great fun!!

DOZY... me neither!!!! Mine still feels really low down. Doesn't seem to be rising. I'm still really worried. I think I feel it (the top of it) literally about 1 cm above the old hair line . If you press slightly firmly but not hard down from tummy button to pubic bone it starts to get firmer (however don't do it if you need a no. 2 because your bowel will be hard !!!

I have a bloated tummy still but it feels flabby rather than baby like.

Would love to see more tummy shots please ladies!!! Especially first timers!!!

LouiseSJ · 31/05/2008 17:20

Hello Ladies. Please would you add me to your list. My EDD is 25th November. I already have a little girl aged almost 6 months. So if this baby arrives on the due date there will only be an 11 1/2 month age gap! Anyone in a similar situation?

I am in Lincoln. Pinkali37 I note that you are in Lincolnshire. Whereabouts? There is a meet up thread for Lincoln ladies. If you're interested we are having a meet up on Wednesday.

MerryMarigold · 31/05/2008 21:06

LouiseSJ - welcome! My friend has a similar age gap with her kids, in fact I think it is 10.5 months. We were all in shock when she told us she was pregnant again, as we had our first kids at the same time, and I was still not quite coping with one! Hers are now 2.5 and 1.5 and they play so well together, they are really great friends, the hard but is over and now they entertain each other. So, hard at the beginning but definitely easier now than it is for those of us with bigger age gaps, and having to deal with toddler tantrums towards little siblings!

Dozy, I wouldn't be able to tell you where my uterus ends and my stomach begins. Ask the midwife - at 16 week appointment!

Oblomov, you sound like my dh! I always give people the benefit of the doubt, and assume the best, that things will be done without hassle - and I usually end up paying for it unfortunately.

lackaDAISYcal · 31/05/2008 23:28

misdee, meant to say earlier good luck for the cardiac scan. We'll have our collective fingers crossed for you.

hi louiseSJ and welcome to the thread . And I thought my 17 month age gap was small. Your two will be starting school in the same year . Were you on the November 07 thread?

Yorky · 01/06/2008 09:31

Good morning everyone.
We're back from Cornwall - we haven't drowned or blown away!
DS had a fantastic time, it took till the second day to learn he could crawl under the tent walls and go out to play. He can jump on a trampoline (guess what DH now wants for his birthday!) and his baby signing has exploded, he is so good at more and where but he was doing animals as well when we went on the farm.

I can feel the top of my uterus now - found it the other day when standing up, and said to DH 'Oh, there she is', and he could feel it too! Needed a loo at the time, don't know if that helped!
Very of your shopping trip, I still can't justify going shopping - don't wear belts anymore but thats just annoying as jeans give me builders bum without!

I haven't dreamt of the baby yet, but I always think of 'her', with DS I was never sure one way or the other, should I find out? as it will be quite a shock on baby's birthday if its a brother for DS. I don't think I want to find out though, didn't last time

Welcome LouiseSJ
Good luck getting it all sorted heartmum
Glad you had a good time in Ireland pinkali
How confusing MM, hope you're getting your head around it now

bubbaz · 01/06/2008 09:57

Glad everyone who has had hols has had a lovely time.
Heartmum hope you get a good result this week and finally get your appointment!

ChocOrange05 · 01/06/2008 11:35

Bubbaz I am going to e-mail you my name so you and add me as a friend on Facebook and invite me to join the group, after its made private though please. There are still a few people I would like to tell in person before announcing it to the facebook world. Let me know when its a secret group and I will e-mail you!

Hope everyone is ok today - I went to see Boyzone last night and it was fab!! A bit sad I know but they were one of my favourite groups as a teenager, it was a great night although DH is now worried the baby will come out liking boyzone!!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 01/06/2008 11:39

hey Yorky, glad the camping went well. Shame you don't have a sig, though- it really keeps the los contained! I think mum used to put extra tent pegs looping up the groundsheet on our cabanon.Hope the pitching went well!

Bubbaz- oh god facebook- I really struggle to keep up with it! I'll have a look tonight.
DH bought us a new car yesterday, - I took the children to a birthday party. So excited about the car esp. since I will actually be driving this one!
It's a Fiat Doblo in metallic blue, 1.9 diesel and the boot is huge! It's going to be lovely not to bang your head when loading the children into the car! Can't pick it up until friday as it needs MOT etc.

Hope your scan goes well, misdee.

lackaDAISYcal · 01/06/2008 11:48

hey, yorky, I thought about you last week when it was teeming wiht rain and there were severe weather warnings for the south west! Glad you survuved it and that you all havd a lovely time.

pinky, friends of ours have a Doblo and they love it. The headroom is fantastic and it has lots of storage above the drivers head as well. It's great for getting kids in and oout as well, his wife climbs in to do it, saving on the endless backache and the sliding doors are great in car parks. We vaguely considered one, but I'm not sure about getting 2 baby seats and a booster across the back seat.

bubbaz · 01/06/2008 13:10

Chocorange that is fine but I already know your name as you are after me on the bookclub list I think I have found you on facebook I will send a friend request.
If anyone else wants it done this way let me know and I will let you have my e-mail address.

ceebee74 · 01/06/2008 13:14

Bubbaz - will go on facebook in a mo and try an join the group

Chocorange - don't be embarrassed about Boyzone as I am going to see them in Manchester in 2 weeks and I can't wait!! Was it a really good show?

Welcome Louise - 11.5 months - wow! Make sure you add yourself to the stats list.

Well, I am going to have to change my prediction on the Predictions thread. I had a very vivid dream last night that this was a boy. I was going for a scan (a nuchal one even though they still do the blood test up here ) and the sonographer asked me if I wanted to know what sex it was so I said yes. He showed me between the baby's legs and it looked like a hand waving complete with 4 fingers and a thumb so I said that to the sonographer and he said oh all boys bits look like that at first but they join together and form a penis' - twas extremely clear and made my re-think my thoughts that 'bump' is a girl

Hope you are all having good weekends - is chucking it down with rain here! Just been to aerobics then took DS swimming but forgot to take any clean underwear with me so after swimming it was either the very sweaty sports bra I had been wearing for aerobics or none at all - I opted for none which is not a good look when you are 4 months pg with huge boobs

x

ceebee74 · 01/06/2008 13:17

Bubbaz - just sent a request to join the Facebook group but not sure in what form you get it - you should know it is me as my initials in real life are the same as my MN name if you say it aloud iyswim.

bubbaz · 01/06/2008 13:26

Ceebee Yes I have you you are now a member I'm just glad it works.
LOL at your dream!

LadyOfTheFlowers · 01/06/2008 16:49

Thanks for the answers to my belly question!

PInkyminkyohnooo · 01/06/2008 20:19

Daisy- that's the main reason we got the Doblo- we can fit two maxi-cosi forward facing seats and the cabrio baby seat in the back. DS is only just 3 and still in his full seat, but he'll be in a high back booster when this baby comes, DD will still be in her seat. It was much cheaper to run and insure than the big people mover thingies but still had enough space for the seats. YOu can put more seats ikn the boot if you need to.

MerryMarigold · 01/06/2008 21:07

I sent a request too. It's gonna be interesting to see people's RL names!!!

ChocOrange05 · 01/06/2008 21:32

Ceebee Boyzone were fantastic, I was a bit worried beforehand that I would feel a bit old and not enjoy it but from the first song I remembered all the words and managed to belt them all out with the rest of the crowd. They put on a really good show and I think you are going to have a great time - I did!

Bubbaz thanks for the friend request (bet it wasn't hard to find me with my name!). Can you invite me to join the group when you've made it private again please? Thanks!

DH and I bought a nursing chair today - ok I know the baby isn't due for 5 months but it was such a bargain we snapped it up. Its a cossato 360 degree chair and foot stool that costs £300 and we got it for £150 (its only 1 year old). Its sooo comfy! Do any current mums have one? One of my friends told me it was a must have as she spent hours feeding in it.

MerryMarigold · 01/06/2008 21:43

Chocorange - is the chair leather? I was grateful for my leather sofa as I was always spraying all over it?! Just make sure you have room for it in front of TV - bfing can be quite boring once the initial, excitment and pain have worn off!

MerryMarigold · 01/06/2008 21:49

hi ceebee. i saw your name on the facebook group and it is really, really familiar. i'm not sure where from (pic was too small for me to really see what you look like). could be school, uni or a friend of my sister's?! My sis is rebecca norkett (now moran), she went to st andrews. we grew up in hemel hempstead. i went to uni at warwick. any bells going off?!!!

LolaBella · 01/06/2008 21:51

I'v put a pic of my not so impressive bump on my pictures page if anybody wants to see as some people were asking about bump sizes. I'm 18 + 4 but it's my first. Lots of movement though so little bub must be happy
Hope everybody has had a good weekend xx

ChocOrange05 · 02/06/2008 08:58

Lola - I wanted to see your bump but I think your profile is secret as you don't have a "see this persons profile" tab next to your name? Perhaps you can change that?? I took some bump photos last night so I will put them up later. My bump is very big now, or at least it feels it, and this is my first, but still no signs of movement for me

I bought some scales yesterday and I have put on about 4kg since becoming pregnant (from 67kg to 71kg). Does anyone know if this is normal?? I am not eating as much overall food as I did before but I am eating lots more junk so I thought I would buy some scales to monitor myself. (Oh but I reckon I'm saving about 2000 calories a week on alcohol!)

chocorange - I put on 20kg with my first. I was 63kg and went to 83kg!! It did come off mostly after the birth, although I still had a tummy cos muscles were shot, and he was a big baby. The rest came off when I stopped breastfeeding a year later. I believe, the more weight you put on, the more likely it is that you'll both be healthy ie. the baby is not lacking anything, and is not taking all your reserves. It's important to be healthy after 'it's' born. Obviously not a license to eat cake ALL DAY, but one day is fine .

MerryMarigold · 02/06/2008 10:22

Oh, and it's good to increase your intake of 'proper food' rather than junk! [I meant one cake a day!] ie. meat, dairy, fruit and veg, carbos should increase and 1-2 egg a day!
