Evening all.
Thanks Bisou for updating the list for me.
Just when I thought morning sickness had ended I have started feeling sick again- does not stop me eating though!!
Latest food cravings have been garlic muchrooms and white chocolate buttons. In fact any sort of chocolate. Also had to stop ay McDonalds on the way home from work for a double cheeseburger and an icecream sundae. I have already put on 7lbs(with the amount I am eating I am quite surprised it is only 7)-going to be massive by the time Christmas comes!!I read in some book that the foetus only weighs 17g at 13 weeks

DP and I have decided not to go for the nuchal scan but for the blood tests at 15 weeks.
Artichokes- how do you know you are 80% sure you are having a girl.
I think this one may be a girl although DP thinks it is another boy.
Hope everyone has a good weekend
Simmo

theyoungvisiter · 20/06/2008 21:37

hello everyone - hooray - well-done Bisou!! Such good work, am amazed you can keep up.

Did goneundergroundtillfamilyknow ever out herself? I was having a quick look at old threads but couldn't see anything announcing her namechange.

Well, I am now 16/17 weeks and am STILL feeling sick, grr grr.

Have thrown up twice today and am feeling very sick (ha ha) of the whole thing. With DS it was all over about 14 weeks so was fully expecting the same this time round and SO WRONG. Chiz chiz.

mibbes · 20/06/2008 21:44

Hello ladies - LOL at all of these food cravings ! Am about to have a takeaway curry but suspect it will bring on the dreaded heartburn - oh well, these are the sacrifices we make to feed our cravings !
Had 16 week appt today and heard the heartbeat - wooohooo ! It took about 2 mins to find it and that felt like an eternity to me . I recorded it on my mobile and it sounds great
kayz am very of Boyzone - I'm off to see Kylie in Belfast next Friday - weyhey

snorris · 21/06/2008 10:02

Hiya!

Hope all is well with everyone. I'm still wound up about what the consultant said to me but I'm determined not to let it get me down. I'm putting my energy into showing her she's not neccesarily right. Failing that I shall tell her I won't arrive at the hospital until it's too late and end up giving birth in the car park. I'd like to see her try to monitor that! .

Food-wise I've gone off most things,or they don't agree with me . Anything deep-fried disagrees with me,same with McD's. If I eat sweet stuff I'm left with an awful taste in my mouth and I can't eat too late at night. It's turning into quite a healthy diet but for someone who normally enjoys her food it's quite depressing! Knowing my luck they'll start whinging at me for losing weight! I assume as long as I eat a balanced diet the baby will be ok? (I can afford to lose a few stone pounds )

Right off to ToysRus in a mo to spend the dt's birthday money.

majormoo · 21/06/2008 10:34

oh mcdonald's strawberry milkshakes sound great!

weather is rubbish here but somehow I still have hayfever.

Has anyone felt the baby move yet?

Verso · 21/06/2008 12:18

litterbug my '20 week' scan isn't until I'm 21 weeks and I asked my m/w about it last week and she said it's just fine. It's like effieperine said - it's not such a critical window of opportunity like the nuchal, so you should be just fine at 21w4d.

Just back from a night away through work and although the trip went well it's lovely to come back. Glad to see everyone's doing well - and starting to get excited now!

Having a nice quiet weekend (I hope).

Verso · 21/06/2008 12:21

snorris as long as you're taking your folic acid and getting a reasonably balanced diet I don't think the baby will come to any harm. Make sure you don't get anaemic though (something I struggle with). Thanks to whoever suggested the 'spatone' iron supplements btw - they're v good!

majormoo I don't normally go for strawberry anything (except real ones) but had a real thing for strawberry Nesquik of all things the other day! I also have hayfever and forgot to ask the m/w if there's anything safe to take. The pharmacist said I have to grin and bear it .

EffiePerine · 22/06/2008 06:28

Morning all

Today we're going to finally tell family I'm pg - tomorrow it's the turn of people at work. Am feeling a bit grouchy about other people knowing tbh: I rather like the stage where it's asecret between me and DH. Still, it won't be a surprise to anyone who has seen in me in RL

Bought some nice stretchy interim clothes from H&M - not big enough for maternity stuff yet but need bigger waistlines! They have some stretchy jersey skirts in a variety of colours that are perfect for work. Off to Primark later in search for cheapo draawstring trousers.

EffiePerine · 22/06/2008 06:29

Snorris: my diet isn't great atm either, I think the baby takes its nutrients from you whatever, so your health tends to suffer rather than the other way round IYSWIM. Trying to get my fruit and veg in as well as all the crap...

GettingBiggerBird · 22/06/2008 09:50

Hello all, I too am feeling much more excited about this pregnancy. Had a very long session with my consultant on Friday where he checked the placenta for my twins and found 2 - good news as it's less risky, apparently - and also had a really good look at them, all very reassuring. I can feel the stress ebbing away (though I expect it will build up in the wait for the 20 week scan!). I don't feel sick any more and don't have heartburn yet, but I am already really breathless and getting bigger by the day - I chose the right MN name. Has anyone noticed how much bigger their bump is by the end of the day? Maybe it's just me/my diet . I thought of you all in Ikea looking at all the different types of Daim/Dime bar products the other day, that's definitely where to go for them!

JamInMyWellies · 22/06/2008 16:58

At the begining of the day my bump is really small by bedtime I look the same as I did when I was about 7mth with DS.

Glad the consultant went ok GBB.

Dont even go there about diet I went to taste of london yesterday and managed to eat my way round the world.

kayzisexpecting · 23/06/2008 07:18

Morning everyone.

I hope everyone is ok and has had nice weekends.

Jam I am really jealous. I wanted to go to the taste of Leeds, but we were busy that weekend.

I am 16 weeks on Friday and I can't believe how fast it seems to be going. It might just be me but I think its started to go really fast now.

rosmerta · 23/06/2008 08:32

morning everyone, haven't been able to get on for a few days now but everything's ok.

Haven't caught up on the thread but hope everyone's ok.

Ages & ages ago I mentioned about perhaps having a meet up for those of us in London. I think everyone's had their scans now so shall we try & organise something?

JamInMyWellies · 23/06/2008 08:44

ooh that sounds good Rosmerta. I am in Essex but its pretty easy for me to get up to town as long as its not W.London. Count me in.

Morning everyone, hope the sun is shining for you all. I am going to say bog off to the housework today and spend all day chasing the dog and ds sit in the sunshine reading a book

rosmerta · 23/06/2008 09:05

Jam, I guess as we're all spread out it would probably be more central!

Your day sounds lovely, sunny here as well so think I'll take ds to Kew Gardens!

pixsix · 23/06/2008 09:20

Hi everyone, I hope you are all well.

Rosmerta, I',ll be living back in London from mid-July so a London meet-up after that sounds great to me.

majormoo I haven't felt the baby move yet but I'm a first timer and 16 + 1 today so I think it's still too early?

kayz I think it's going a bit faster now too. The wait for the 12 week scan really dragged for me and I think it's going a bit faster because I'm not so worried as I was before the scan.

Effie good luck telling your colleagues today.

I hope everyone has happy weeks.

jenduck · 23/06/2008 09:30

Hi to everyone. Glad we all seem to be doing OK.

I too am finding that my diet is not what it could be! I am trying hard to get lots of fruit & veg but it is a struggle! Smoothies are a good way to go for fruit, & I usually have veg soup, but it is too hot for that.

On a positive note, I finally went to my first aquanatal class on Wednesday & it was great! Really knowledgable, friendly instructor & the other ladies in the class were really friendly too. They were all 30 weeks + but that didn't bother me too much, as I think it will be beneficial & the instructor said there are usually some ladies around my stage of pregnancy too.

I would also be up for a London meet, I too am based in Essex, so not difficult for me to get in (evening or weekend though as have to work)!

Hope you all enjoy the sunshine!

EffiePerine · 23/06/2008 10:25

well, told them and they were oddly surprised! Obv though I was just getting fat

Def on for a London meet-up, evenings/weekends best for me as well, or Wednesdays. If a Weds/weekend I might have to bring DS with me, so in the interests of actually talking to people rather than toddler taming I vote for an evening do . Am in N London, so central good.

kayzisexpecting · 23/06/2008 10:54

I'll be at the meet up in sprirt(sp) as I am in North Yorks.

I haven't felt the baby move yet. I can't wait to though. I really enjoyed it last time.

Hello everyone,

snorris The midwives did't bat an eyelid when I lost a stone after being unable to keep anything down, so I wouldn't worry. I wasn't skinny to start with, size 12, but I'm now thinner than I've been for years but with a pot belly My MIL said I look much better with a bit of weight off! Don't you just love MILs!!

gettingbiggerbird I've always got more of a belly at the end of the day! I'm glad it isn't just me .

kayz Thanks for replying re the itchy scar! It feels much better now I've been putting cocoa butter on it.

Anyone out there with long-ish legs?! I'm struggling to find trousers in long leg lengths. My local Debenhams (Red Herring) and New Look only had regular lengths. Does anyone know if gap and H&M do leg legged maternity?

Hello to everyone especially my TTC symptom spotting graduates abby, hatty and mibbes. How are you ladies doing?

EffiePerine · 23/06/2008 14:45

H&M stuff tends to be on the long side IME

GettingBiggerBird · 23/06/2008 15:56

JB: I'm 6'3" so maternity wear is a challenge - lots of cropped trousers for me! Formes stuff is sometimes long enough but you need to re-mortgage and some Topshop styles come in longer lengths (probably easiest to choose in the shop then buy online if you can't find the precise size there, stocks are often rubbish). The Seraphine jeans I got are quite long, and I think Next is worth a try too. Good luck!

I'm trying to set up a pregnancy yoga class at my local hospital, it's great (well I would say that now I've trained as a teacher!). It can help give you energy if you're going to a good class.

mibbes · 23/06/2008 17:17

JollyBear lovely to 'see' you back missus ! I can't believe you lost a whole stone , you must have been seriously ill. Hope you are feeling better now.
GBB I have been trying to find a local pregnancy yoga class as really fancy it as a relaxing way of strengthening muscles in prep for birth. Any suggestions where I should try ? Is there a register of local teachers or something ? Am in Central Scotland - the closest I can find is Glasgow which is a bit of a trek for a regular class.
Like kayz I'll be at the meet-up in spirit. Anyone else on here from Scotland ?

Verso · 23/06/2008 18:25

I'm in S London/Surrey - or work in West London, so can do central London (or Purley Way IKEA ). Evenings/weekends are best for me too.
