Thanks everyone!

Yay Indith! Kayz and Artichokes good luck for your scans!

minster · 27/05/2008 15:00

Indith and Pixsix that's excellent news, congratulations!

kayzisexpecting · 27/05/2008 15:03

I am so annoyed. I found a lovely maternity Tankini to get for my holiday and I cant find it now!! I am 100% positive it was a mothercare one. I am so

OP posts:
EffiePerine · 27/05/2008 15:31

Kayz: last time round I found a great tankini in H&M (their maternity bit). I had a Mothercare one as well and it wasn't nearly so nice

Indith: congrats on your scan

When DS was scanned he obliged by sticking his finger up his nose - a sign, I now realise, of things to come . I wouldn't have posted that one!

kayzisexpecting · 27/05/2008 19:38

Yummmmmmmmmmmy!!!!!!!

I have just had a lovely pizza. I sent DH out to get it and it was so nice!!

Hope everyone is ok.

minster · 27/05/2008 20:12

OMG I just had a veggie sub with loads of pikles ... it was perfect! Now I'll have 15 minutes before I need to puke again, but I really emjoyed it

minster · 27/05/2008 20:13

pikles???? lol pickles!

majormoo · 27/05/2008 20:26

congrats Indith and Pixsix

Good luck with your scans Artichokes and Kayz

Hope the sickness improves Artichokes.

Have not used one but people always seem to say having a doula was great for them. I have been lucky in that both births were pretty much OK (well DD too fast, DS got a bit stuck but still..). Post natal care was pretty non-existant when I had my DS. When I got to the post natal ward at 3.30am having had DS a few hours early, the midwife who saw me said 'this is not your first baby so no time to rest here. You go home tomorrow' (by which she meant 'today'). No discussion about it.

rosmerta · 27/05/2008 20:56

Indith & pixsix congratulations on the scans, it seems so much more real now doesn't it?

olipop hope your scan went well today!

majormoo funny you should mention doulas. I was thinking of booking one this time around, just in case we can't get anyone to stay with ds. I was also hoping they'd help postnatally, esp with bf as it didn't go well at all with ds. Midwives just kept trying to force formula onto ds, there was one bf counsellor but she couldn't be there all the time

Verso · 27/05/2008 21:09

Nuchal scan went really well! Looks like I'm having a baby too!

I've been wondering about a doula too - but I would only need her postnatally and I'm not sure if they do that. I considered a maternity nurse because of DH being disabled and unable to do nights (which ended up being a bit grim last time!) but they are £££ and I don't like the idea of a scary bossy woman trying to get me and the baby into a routine within ten minutes of the birth...

My postnatal care was awful too. Not going to post here about it as you've all heard enough of my woes for the time being (!) but suffice to say I'm now arranging another 'debrief' with an antenatal person as it's all come back so clearly... Really sorry to hear the other stories on here. I hope we all have a much better time this time round!

EffiePerine · 28/05/2008 01:06

Verso: I'm sure you can get doulas for the postnatal bit as well. They're very much about supporting the mother rather than criticising your parenting! Have a look at the doula website, there are also a few doulas on MN (Marslady and Lulumama spring to mind) who are happy to answer questions.

southernbelle77 · 28/05/2008 07:05

I'm pleased all scans yesterday went well! Good luck today for those having them too. Mine is still just over 2 weeks away and it seems like forever!
Feeling a bit rough this morning! Had a hard time sleeping last night. We had the biggest lightening and thunder storm I've ever seen/heard and I just could not sleep though it. And then dd woke herself up coughing so had to go and sort her out and then I kept getting stomach ache. Think it was trapped wind (sorry tmi!) but everytime I tried to sleep on my side it hurt and I've never been one to sleep on my back so I was fidgeting around all the time! Woe is me, eh!

kayzisexpecting · 28/05/2008 07:48

Morning.

Sorry you had a bad night SouthernBelle I managed to sleep all night last night. Still feeling a bit tired though.

DS has got some jabs today which I am not looking forward too. I hate needles so DH has to hold DS while I look in the opposite direction.

Has anyone bought any baby clothes/stuff yet?
I keep looking at all wanting to buy it all!

Morning

Has anyone else gone from eating nothing to EVERYTHING??

About a week ago I was so selective and could only face certain things but am eating everything now!

Yesterday was the first day in about 6 weeks I didn't throw up, which was good but slightly worrying too, lol.

But this morning I feel nice and sick again pmsl so am reassured.

Glad the scans are going well!

Mines just 13 days away now

My friend is having her 20 week scan at 9:30 so am waiting for a TXT to tell me if its pink or blue!

kayzisexpecting · 28/05/2008 08:51

I can't believe I am 12 weeks this Sunday. It only seems like 5 minutes ago that I got my BFP.

It'll be December before we know it.

OP posts:
minster · 28/05/2008 09:30

Yay Verso! Good nuchal is excellent!

This week is really dragging - I'm so jealous of those of you getting to 12 weeks. I'm still stuck in the 9s. I've got my doppler from my last two pregnancies & hearing the hb would really reassure me ... too soon though (well I hope it's too soon 'cos I'm not hearing anything yet).

Just told my friend about the pregnancy (I think she thinks I'm insane) ... tryin to shake the 'OMG I've jinxed it now' irrational thoughts.

kayzisexpecting · 28/05/2008 09:34

Why does she think you are insane?

I think it is too early to hear a hb as MW's don't try until about 16 weeks but it can be possible.

OP posts:
chinchi · 28/05/2008 09:47

Great news Verso!

Im 11 weeks today and eating the family out of house and home! Ive just polished off a bowl of tuna pasta salad and its not even 10 am yet!

minster · 28/05/2008 10:29

Because I'm tired & sick & stressed & generally behaving like a bit of a lunatic. I heard the hb with dd at 9+4 (but I was much thinner then) with ds I didn't try until 12 weeks but heard it straight away.

kayzisexpecting · 28/05/2008 11:19

Thats natural Minster. I am behaving like a lunatic too.

I can't stand DH cuddling me in bed at the minute. I don't know why but its horrible.

I've just bought 10 jam doughnuts, they do only come in 10's so its not as bad as it sounds.

OP posts:
southernbelle77 · 28/05/2008 11:31

Doughnuts, did someone say doughnuts?!! Ooooh, now that's something I would LOVE to be eating right now!
Can't even pop out to the shop easily as have 3 littlies here today and it's too much of a faff getting them in and out the car!!!

msdynamo · 28/05/2008 11:51

Glad you're all stuffing your faces, me too

I have two weeks to go till scan, am very excited and I'm counting the days.

I know how you feel, kayz, I feel a bit like I want to be on my own in bed. My Bf is annoying me a bit, and at times I just find him profoundly irritating. We had sex on the weekend and I didn't enjoy it at all. Think I'm in a cosy mumsy mode and don't want to be touched.

southernbelle77 I couldn't sleep because of the thunderstorm either, feel like death today, can barely keep my eyes open. Luckily didn't have to go to work this morning.

Congrats on all the wonderful scan babies out there! Well done ladies!

kayzisexpecting · 28/05/2008 11:54

I have 2 days till my scan. I feel these 2 days will go soooooo slowly!!

I can't wait to have a picture I can scan in and show all of you.

Morning all - I am just back from the hospital. The midwife and obstetrician were lovely but I am majorly p*ssed-off because the scanning unit was too busy so we have to go back on Friday for the scan. Basically the midwife spent about 45 mins talking to us because I had pre-eclampsia last time and a PPH and a huge baby. It seemed every question she asked there was another problem. Then she tested my urine and there is already protein in it (this is a sign of pre-e but last time I did not get it 'til 37 weeks) then she did my BP and that was already quite high . So after 45 mins with her she sent me off to see an obstetrician who spent another 30 mins checking things and then said I have to go in every two weeks to have my BP and urine monitored... (that will be fun as the hosp is over an hour from work). By the time the ob had finished the scanning dept was full for the morning.

I feel a little but down now, partly because I was desperate to see whether the baby was OK on the scan and partly because I really hoped to have a trouble free pregnancy this time. I lost weight before conceiving and my BMI is 20 which is brilliant, but already I have high BP and protein. This combined with the bad morning sickness and utter exhaustion that I am still experiencing is all getting a bit much.

Sorry for the long rant. I feel I am always coming on to complain at the moment. I am usually quite light hearted (I promise!) hopefully I will return to my normal self soon.

kayzisexpecting · 28/05/2008 12:00

I'm so sorry Artichokes I'll keep everything crossed that you don't get pre-eclampsia again. Hopefully the protein and high BP will go.
