Mibbes I did get anti-D, I think...!
My post-natal care was pretty dreadful after I had my twins. I got a newly qualified junior doctor looking after me (August, when they all start on the wards) who spent several days quizzing me about my blood transfusion and whether I'd had my anti-D! Not the best person to ask, seeing as I was recovering from a section, a GA and was trying to breastfeed twins!
I couldn't get any sense out of any of the nurses and the registrar who'd done my section had gone on holiday. My ward was just chaos .
My community midwife eventually came to see me on the third day and chased things up for me. I hadn't had a blood tranfusion, so no idea where the doctor got that from! She was pretty sure I'd had the anti-D, but my notes were crap. Whole thing was fairly disastrous and its panicked me a bit ever since. Didn't get any support with breastfeeding the girls (got pushed on the first night to just put them on formula) and got told to go and sit in a side room by myself to feed at night as I was disturbing the other mothers .
At least when they test my blood for antibodies they should be able to see what's going on. Sorry for long rant! I think I'm very tired today and the things that bothered me last time are on my mind - at least I can come to terms with them and think of positive steps to deal with them this time.
I think my hospital was particulary rubbish - I don't think they generally mess things up so badly with anti-D - it was just because I'd had it whilst I was still under the GA so wasn't aware of having had it or not.
NCT website should help you - had a quick look as I'm thinking about refresher courses and they seem to have branches in Scotland..www.nctpregnancyandbabycare.com/in-your-area/branch-finder
