Thought I'd do this and post my last comments:

Hi all. Glad to hear more good scan news!

We had MIL visit this weekend and she is such hard work. She literally never lifted a finger and kept going back to bed every couple of hours. I've asked DP not to let her come again for a while as it's hard work waiting on someone.

We also finally put DS in his 'big boy bed'. Went quite well - he went to bed no problems, but he woke up at 2am crying as he'd got stuck under the duvet. He was then awake for a couple of hours so I'm feeling shattered today. Anyone of you with older children got any tips?

Slinkie we'll be near each other for mat leave won't we? We can have some fun together I'm sure.

Meglet I'm the same as you with the whole bf thing. I hated it last time and was relieved when I gave up. I keep veering to and fro with regards to trying it for this baby. I had such a happy time last time round, really enjoyed the whole experience, and am worried that attempting to bf will make the whole thing fraught.

I weighed myself the other day and I've put on around 21 lbs, so about a stone and a half. i wasn't feeling too horrified by this until i happened to google a weight gain chart for during pregnancy and I had disappeared off the top of it somewhere...

Apparently most people reckon between 25 and 35 lbs is fine, and i expect I'll be over that, but not by too much...

Oh, congrats womb, cross posted! We haven't had any more girls for ages, we must be on about 15 boys to 9 girls!

I have no stretch marks at all from last time round. I put it down to Body Shop's Coco Butter stick, which was recommended by friend and her cousin, neither of whom have stretch marks after using it.

I've put on around 5lb, mainly because I lost half a stone at the beginning.

Hi everyone

I had another scary bleed last week, ended up back in hospital for 3 days but everything OK now (fingers crossed). I have a clot on the edge of my placenta that partly came away and caused the bleed, but the baby is growing fine and the placenta is working OK at least for the moment. It was terrifying though! I have everything crossed it doesn't happen again, otherwise I may just lose my remaining marbles...

eandz I'm often finding blood when I blow my nose in the mornings too.

I'm a big reusable nappy fan too, although we didn't start with DS until he was about 8 months, so I'm having to buy newborn size ones. Our local council will reimburse 50 quid on production of a receipt which is quite good! My sis has lent us her newborn reusables but she never really got into it so they're virtually unused, plus I bought a few TotsBots fluffles (my favourites with DS!) as they're being discontinued and I didn't want to leave it till later and then not be able to get any. So far my newborn stash consists of:
7 Fluffles
3 Tots bots cotton
2 Bamboozles
1 Ellas House Hemp

  • various wraps, mostly Motherease.
I still need to buy at least 5 more, but will wait until a bit later on I think.

womb Congratulations on your scan!

I didn't weigh myself at the beginning of this pregnancy so I've got no idea how much weight I've put on! With DS my arse got huge (should really say even more huge than normal) and grew at the same rate as my bump until about 30 weeks, but fortunately I appear to have escaped that this time. I didn't get any stretch marks till 35 weeks with DS either, then they suddenly appeared overnight despite religious oiling of bump. This time I'm alternating bio-oil in the mornings after my shower with pure solid cocoa butter from Akamuti in the evenings and hoping I don't get any more - I have a feeling if we have a hot summer my bump may end up being seen in public (I have no shame, lol).

I haven't got any stretch marks on my bump (I put it down to being fat beforehand - tummy was already stretched...) but got lots of 'orrible bright red ones over my inner thighs. Nice...

Pitufina
Hi, I am from near Bilbao. I live in Exeter now. I have been in the UK for almost 20 yrs. No plans or intentions to go back for good.
Why was that your nickname?, where you really tiny? Los pitufos were very small.

Kasha,
I'm sorry your having a rough time. everytime we have in my favorite position i bleed like crazy...which made sex quite traumatic.

but in my 12th week of pregnancy i had something go wrong with my placenta and they said i had a haematoma (i can't spell it) ...after i had bled all over the hospital floor. (at that time, i figured since i was pregnant and not going to have my period for a while i could go without underwear....the most traumatic and humiliating day of my LIFE. but everything is ok now...and i hope everything will get better for you too...and very soon.

  • the haematoma (clot i think) took a while to clear out for me.

eandz that doesn't sound like fun! I bled all over the floor this time too, but only because the midwife let go for a second when she was putting the cannula in my hand and it started squirting blood everywhere .

I've bled so much in this pregnancy plus my pelvic floor is not what it once was so I won't even go without at least a pantyliner now let alone going commando!

starlight,
they all looked at me like i was some crazy person who has something against underwear. and then i had to leave wearing these weird absorbing pants and an adult diaper. it was a magical afternoon.

Wow, todays postings have consisted almost entirely of discussion about wet knickers! What a classy bunch we are. To add my tuppence worth, I have taken to carrying a spare change of pants in my handbag as I find panty liners give me an excema (sp?) type rash, but I hate spending the last couple of hours of the day feeling like I've wet myself!

In other news, how do we feel about wearing
(a) white to a wedding, in the form of white linen trousers with a coloured top and
(b) wearing trousers to a wedding in any form - I always wear dresses, but don't want to buy an expensive maternity dress that will wear twice! Don't mind spending a fair amount on a lovely top if I will get lots of wear out of it.

I think white pants can work if:

  1. beach wedding
  2. afternoon wedding
  3. garden wedding

and I think the best look for the white pants and a colorful top is: accessories..heavier, sexy sandals and hair done loosely with a little bit of curl...

imo.
