Thought I'd do this and post my last comments:

Hi all. Glad to hear more good scan news!

We had MIL visit this weekend and she is such hard work. She literally never lifted a finger and kept going back to bed every couple of hours. I've asked DP not to let her come again for a while as it's hard work waiting on someone.

We also finally put DS in his 'big boy bed'. Went quite well - he went to bed no problems, but he woke up at 2am crying as he'd got stuck under the duvet. He was then awake for a couple of hours so I'm feeling shattered today. Anyone of you with older children got any tips?

Slinkie we'll be near each other for mat leave won't we? We can have some fun together I'm sure.

Meglet I'm the same as you with the whole bf thing. I hated it last time and was relieved when I gave up. I keep veering to and fro with regards to trying it for this baby. I had such a happy time last time round, really enjoyed the whole experience, and am worried that attempting to bf will make the whole thing fraught.

Good luck to Pidge and littleconnie for Friday. Will you both be finding out what you're having, I'm so excited when other people have scans lol!

Just waiting for dp to get back from chinese with our dinner. He offered a take away as he forgot it is the anniversary of the day we met today. I was not amused He has offered to take me out tommorrow night or at the weekend but I'm now being a stubborn old boot and said no. I'd have thought he would have made the effort as he is not in my good books as it is but alas....

On the weight front I've put on 9lb so far (21wks) No idea if this is about right or not though and to be honest I couldn't give a monkeys If I start obsessing over it I won't be able to eat my weekly tub of B&J without feeling guilty and I'm not willing to forego that little pleasure for anything!

Re wet knicks, isn't it one of pregnancies little delights, NOT! I hate it. I cannot stand it and drives me mad as do panty liners esp in hot weather as it just makes me feel ewwwww.Amzing the things people don't tell you about pregnancy!
I suppose if we all knew about every little thing that could poss happen when we get preggers the nobody ever would!

Hello new thread! Lots to catch up on as usual...

Good luck with the scans on Friday girls, I'm due the same day as you Pidge and I have to wait until 3rd June for my scan! I am going to be the last one at this rate...

Wet knickers, what a delight they are! It is funny that no-one tells you these things, not even my sisters who normally delight in all the gory details.

Womb, I am lucky as I lost over half a stone in the first three months because I was sick as a dog (plus not drinking booze...) and I still haven't caught up yet. Am worried that it's going to catch me out one day though because once I got my appetite back there was no stopping me. Especially on the cake front - oops.

cake....yummmm.

i'm going to one of my all time favorite places to eat tonight (the hare and tortoise) it's not the best food but the portions are soo amazing and it's like southern comfort food except it's chinese/malaysian...i felt like i had to share that. i'm soo lonely these days!

eandz i got pregnant with ds when on the pill although admittedly i was fairly hit and miss with it

i've put on 6lbs so far (24 weeks) which is shocking when you see how huge my bump is. With dd i put on loads more by now!! although i think i lot of it is due to cutting out all alcohol ! i can still do up a lot of my jeans although they are very very uncomfortable if i do - with dd i couldn;t even get them up my thighs by now!!

anyone else having shoe trouble? i put my uggs on this morning cos it was a bitnippy and i couldn;t bend enough to get them back off i had to ask dd to pull them off for me

does anyone know where they measure you from to get fundus height would like to see if i am actually big for my dates

mustsleep - measeurement is taken from your pubic bone to the top of the uterus - mine is now above my navel!!!

Going to breast clinic tomorrow re: bleeding nipples and then for another scan on thursday as the sonographer couldnt see the spine very well last week becasue the baby was asleep and wouldnt move I am taking my mum this time as she has never seen a scan done before.

RE: wet knickers....I am wearing pany liners all the time and am regularly wetting myself when I cough and sneeze - and as I am suffering with hayfever that is about 10 times a day at the moment

My hair is gross and my skin is awful - all sort of bumpy and sallow looking. When is it we are supposed to "bloom"?????

hopefully i've put on at least 8 stone
Also, I am considering wearing white linen trousers and coloured top to close family wedding, so if its ok for me then its ok for you!

Savings using washables:
we've spent about £400 on washables, which is at least £150 more than we needed to (I love them and its a little shopping addiction of mine!) but 'they' say you'll spend about £1000-£1500 on disposables for one child. So bearing in mind we get to re-use all ours, that's up to a £2500 saving which is phenomenal. It means we can afford a holiday! (it really does make that much of a difference to us, it was the financial savings that persuaded me, the environmental benefit was merely an added perk ).

Wet knickers here too, glad I'm not alone

Wow what a lot to catch up on today.

My pre-birth v post-birth plans didn't change too much, mainly because I didn't really have a plan! I was lucky that I managed to breast feed without any big problems and ds fed every 3 hours for first few weeks then every 4 so we got into a feeding routine quite quickly. I suppose I had thought he would sleep all day and he didn't sleep much at all during the day so that thought didn't come off. The only other big thing I can remember is that I was NOT going to use dummies under any circumstances. That lasted until the night he came home!! I had thought I'd only be in hosp 1 night and ended up in for 2 but that wasn't the end of the world.

This time round my pre-birth plan is as follows:
Have baby somewhere, probably hospital, sometime in Aug or Sept hopefully. Then bring it home and feed it hopefully with breast feeding. That's it pretty much. Don't ask what we are going to do with ds as I have no idea.

I liked the idea of reusable nappies but dh wasn't keen. The bigger issue was that in the winter we have nowhere to dry our clothes, never mind nappies too. We got quite a bit of damp in the house the winter before last as we don't have a tumble drier and nothing dries outside in winter as garden is north facing. We decided that we'd try to be as green as we could with everything else to try and compensate a bit. Mind you I wouldn't say we have necessarily lived up to that.

wombfor1more - I won't be finding out - I just love that moment at birth of meeting the baby and having the surprise and for me it makes it even more special to look forward to - but I know I'm in the minority!! I have two girls already, and of course am getting a lot of "wouldn't you love to have a boy" comments, which I would, but I equally love the idea of 3 girls, so we'll just see.

jennylindinha - so you'll be 23 weeks by then, is that right? My local hospital also often do the second scan at 23 weeks, but mine was brought forward slightly because they wanted to check out the absence of the nasal bone (at 12 weeks). Which I'm not at all worried about, but it meant I got shuffled forward 7-10 days which is quite nice.

Well done carrieon on your 8 stone gain! I'm glad someone is trying to make me feel better, unlike all you 'oh, I lost half a stone with MS' people. you understand I am not at all jealous...

Thanks for the advice on the linen trousers everyone! I am just going to go for it - everyone is going to be so overwhelmed with my gigantic bump they won't even notice what I'm wearing.

Womb - Congrats on scan, wow we do have lots of boys due on this thread

hopefully - re; white linen trousers, I saw a very pregnant lady the other day with some on and she looked gorgeous - and linen trousers are definatley comfy. I've got a wedding in the middle of June and haven't got a clue what to wear!!

Regarding the weight issue, I've put on nearly 2 stone I had lost a stone before pregnancy and its all gone back on and some. I'm trying not to get too upset about it but hope that I can control my appetite abit more than I have been. As for stretchmarks I've just noticed some this week after being obsessive with oil - its all so attractive, what with the wet knickers as well this baby will i'm sure be an only child as DP will be running for hills soon enough

Regarding pelvic floor exercises my yoga teacher has said we need to be doing 50 a day when pregnant

Kasha - Sorry to hear about your bleed how scary for you, roll on Aug/Sept when this worrying time will be over. Rest up and relax as much as possible.

On a positive note - 10 weeks and 3 days until maternity leave starts

Exeter! I lived near Plymouth until two years ago, then we moved to Wales (which is where I'm from). 20 years? That's a long time, do you miss Bilbao at all?
It was my nickname because of my hair, it was really long. It was light brown, but where I lived they just said I was a "rubia". So in their eyes: a little girl with long fair hair = the female smurf - pitufina!

Sorry hopefully about the weight loss with MS but it was just horrible being off food! I'm sure I won't get away with it in the long run...

Pidge yes, I will be 23 weeks for the scan but at least we should get a good view as baby will be that much bigger! We don't want to know the sex either - really want a surprise for that bit.

By the way, I forgot to say that I totally sympathise with the whole eczema/psoriasis (sp?) thing - have got it bad on my legs and feet and the sleep-scratching/blood on bedsheets thing is a nightmare. However, you could try using thin cotton gloves at night. They must be the adult version of babymits! Feels a bit weird but it does help. I got some in John Lewis quite cheap but you can sometimes get them as part of intensive hand conditioning treatment kits from Boots etc, so you can protect your skin and get lovely soft hands at the same time. Not that I ever feel like putting hand cream on before bed - I usually just want to pass out...

Gracie you have got me worried about pelvic floors - am going to have to do some right now!

Womb - glad your scan went well.

I had mine today as well - all looks ok, it kept yawning / drinking, and at one point the way it put its hand up to its mouth it looked like it was drinking from a glass, v weird.

The sonographer wasn't sure about the sex, she said she got the impression it might be a girl as she never got any glimpses of dangly bits, but baby was shy, and wouldn't budge for her to have a proper look.

Spent 2 hours there as had to see the consultant after, luckily dd remained cheery throughout. I have to see the consultant again at 28 weeks, and also the anaesthetist at some point in case I needed a cs, all due to my heart thing, what a pain. Felt a bit of a fraud, as I was the only 1 there who didn't look pg.

Knickers only slightly damp so far, thank goodness, though whenever I feel a sneeze coming on, I clench those pelvic floor muscles (wish I remembered to do it any other time)

Just beginning to get some heartburn, and burp like mad a lot of the time, big loud juicy burps at that

jennylindinha - that's a good idea about the cotton gloves - though I'd have to tie them on otherwise I would just rip them off in my sleep. As a child I used to go to bed every night with oven gloves tied on my hands - no kidding. Anyway, eczema is now just foul and horrid looking head to toe, rather than really uncomfortable. So some progress after putting creams on every few hours!

Pelvic floors - gosh they're tedious aren't they. Must endeavour to remember them though.
