Thought I'd do this and post my last comments:

Hi all. Glad to hear more good scan news!

We had MIL visit this weekend and she is such hard work. She literally never lifted a finger and kept going back to bed every couple of hours. I've asked DP not to let her come again for a while as it's hard work waiting on someone.

We also finally put DS in his 'big boy bed'. Went quite well - he went to bed no problems, but he woke up at 2am crying as he'd got stuck under the duvet. He was then awake for a couple of hours so I'm feeling shattered today. Anyone of you with older children got any tips?

Slinkie we'll be near each other for mat leave won't we? We can have some fun together I'm sure.

Meglet I'm the same as you with the whole bf thing. I hated it last time and was relieved when I gave up. I keep veering to and fro with regards to trying it for this baby. I had such a happy time last time round, really enjoyed the whole experience, and am worried that attempting to bf will make the whole thing fraught.

Icant wait for britains got talent who do you want to win?

i ordered dds big girls bed today she is so excited about it bless her. im going to be brave and put ds in the toddler bed so baby can have the cot. i was going to buy another cot bed but thought it would be better to get dd a big bed instead.

meglet · 31/05/2008 19:56

I just had a thought about cot mobiles for first timers. We found our wind up cot mobile was a pain in the backside and ours was quickly traded in for a Fisher Price electronic one, along with rechargeable batteries. The wind ups only last a couple of minutes and you have to keep winding them up (obviously!). But the electronic one went for 10 mins at the touch of a button. Apparently the Symphony in Motion mobile is good too.

got back last night. it was warm but with my dodgy hips I couldn't do much so read instead and took short walks in the barri gotico. Dh took dd out quite a bit and now she is always after his attention.

the downside of the trip: dh insisted we get a flat on las ramblas. i didn't like the idea for the noise. OMG. was it noisy. luckily it wasn't so warm that you couldn't close the main doors off the balcony and not boil in the heat. the real downside which i didn't forsee was the pollution. I must have breathed in the exhaust of 80,000 cars, buses and lorries in the time there and i came home with a touch bronchitis. i am still quietly steaming about not insisting we stay in one of the quiet flats off one of the quiet squares we have stayed in before.

it is good to be home and coming home to nice weather is a bonus.

jearund
the breastfeeding 'care' your friend got in hospital is absolutely appalling. bleeding nipples are a sign that the baby is nipplefeeding not breastfeeding. babies breastfeed!

the midwives there have surely set her up to fail on several counts. i know you said that she will be happy breastfeeding but just so that you know, it is not too late for her to re-establish breastfeeding fully with proper care from a breastfeeding counsellor.

please see the list that starlight posted not too long ago, fyi.

kiskideesameanoldmother · 31/05/2008 20:11

about mobiles: here is another of my cheap deals which paid big dividends the first time round: the children's project

it is a simple cardboard black and white mobile which dd adored from the first time i hung it till she was at least 6 mo old.

the books and mobile are a tenner.

elsewhere on this site I really recommend the book 'the Social Baby' especially if you are a clueless first time mum like i was the first time round. it is priceless.

kiskideesameanoldmother · 31/05/2008 20:12

"she will be happy breastfeeding" bottlefeeding

Morning guys
I am glad u asked that question lolly, I was wondering too! Star you know everything .
Sorry x posts yesterday carrieon Hope you first night with dd went well. I too like your nursery plans. I would defo grab a night away without dd before no2 arrives.
Erm.... achy fango alert . Dont think all the bending in the garden helped me yesterday. Its worse in bed of a night. I hope this isnt a sign of things to come. Anyone else with this problem?
Ooo its raining, Ive left dh in bed and ds is in his toy room watching disney channel. Peace. Going to have a nice cuppa. back later xx

eandz · 01/06/2008 11:11

Morning!

I slept last night. i turned off my house and cell phone and just slept. (my folks call at random hours to talk because they don't understand the 6 hour time difference thing.) it feels good to have slept.

starlight, you make me blush . thanks!

achy fango: i have one too, i've been told to keep my legs together as much as possible to take small quick steps when walking and to sleep with pillows between my legs/ankles if i'm sleeping on my side. truth be told, this has helped me. also, you can't do the standing tree position in yoga for a while because it puts too much pressure on that area.

mamamufin · 01/06/2008 15:22

Gosh we are quiet today.
Thanks for the tips eandz, legs together and small steps it is. Not sure what the standing tree thing is though , but I am pretty sure I dont do it.
I am having one lazy day, Ive just had a bath, exfoliated, de fuzzed and fake tanned.(tmi) and put clean Pj s one. Not going anywhere, its great x

eandz · 01/06/2008 15:44

yeah it's like a ghost town on here!

i put on a dress and put on makeup...and i'm not going anywhere either. but i am waiting for a few friends...have no idea where they are though!

becaroo · 01/06/2008 17:19

Just been to a kids birthday party with my ds...38 kids running around hopped up on sugar..not a pretty sight Have left ds sownstairs with his dad for 5 mins quiet time!

Also, seem to have fallen out with my entire family this weekend, so its been busy!

Have been buying too...a baby mat/gym thing, a cot mobile and a pram toy. Just need the matresses for the cot and moses basket now and I'm done.

Seems a bit quiet on here today......hope all are ok

lollyheart · 01/06/2008 18:12

It has been really quite on here this weekend.

We went to see harry and his bucket full of dinosaurs today the dcs loved it even tho dd said harry is a boy not a girl it was a lady dressed up as harry lol.

lollyheart · 01/06/2008 18:14

oops quiet not quite

carrieon · 01/06/2008 18:45

Dh is back, HOORAY! Last night was awful, dd cried at 2am, I woke up repeatedly with a mouth so dry I couldn't swallow or cough or anything, I was knackered this morning and went back to bed as soon as dd did for her nap, and the very next thing it was 3:10, so I had no lunch. Dh has come back to report he's had two fried breakfasts, more cake than he cares to recall, and a full roast in a pub . I have demanded take-away tonight to right the wrong! Although what I really want is crispy roast chicken with all the trimmings and I don't know anywhere that will deliver that And I'm going to drink wine, or maybe a Guinness (mother's milk, its good for you!!)
To be fair dd has been absolutely gorgeous though, she started moonwalking today (?!) and has added giraffe and lizard impressions to her repertoire of animal signs. What a cutie, makes the lack of sleep worthwhile!
I was really surprised at the BGT result too, the violin girls were my fave (but I reckon Simon will have already signed them). That kid who won was good, but not star potential IMHO, and surely he's doing his back some serious damage with that last move?!
Very pleased with the I'd Do Anything result though, can't wait to see Jodie in the West End!!

carrieon · 01/06/2008 18:46

ps, If anyone with the cleaning urge wants to come and sort the tip that is my house then they're very welcome. I can't get round to anything beyond the most functional washing up and laundry and the dust is piling up and the stairs desperately need vacuuming
