Thought I'd do this and post my last comments:

Hi all. Glad to hear more good scan news!

We had MIL visit this weekend and she is such hard work. She literally never lifted a finger and kept going back to bed every couple of hours. I've asked DP not to let her come again for a while as it's hard work waiting on someone.

We also finally put DS in his 'big boy bed'. Went quite well - he went to bed no problems, but he woke up at 2am crying as he'd got stuck under the duvet. He was then awake for a couple of hours so I'm feeling shattered today. Anyone of you with older children got any tips?

Slinkie we'll be near each other for mat leave won't we? We can have some fun together I'm sure.

Meglet I'm the same as you with the whole bf thing. I hated it last time and was relieved when I gave up. I keep veering to and fro with regards to trying it for this baby. I had such a happy time last time round, really enjoyed the whole experience, and am worried that attempting to bf will make the whole thing fraught.

Added my surprise bit and changed mine and ds's ages. I think the bold bits are more hassle than theyire worth though as you seem to have to manually put them in when you paste the list.

DebitheScot · 29/05/2008 14:42

Still up in Scotland on holiday, at my folks at the moment (already been at dh's aunties and a day trip to Glasgow yest to see dh's grandparents). We're going to the Lake District tomorrow to stay with my granny for 2 nights then home on Sunday. having a good week and all the relatives are doing a great job of looking after ds. My dad even took him out to the toddler group at his church this morning.

KashaSarrasin · 29/05/2008 14:45

The hospital just phoned - my blood sugar levels are fine : 4.3 after fasting and 5.2 two hours after lucozade, so that's a relief!

But my iron is down to 9.5 so I'm going to have to double my spatone to two sachets a day. At least it explains why I've been so knackered though! The annoying thing though is that my iron was tested several weeks ago when I was in hospital after my last bleed and it was already down to 9.8 but no-one told me which is really irritating, I could have started doing something about it then and it would have been much better by now! Grrrr. Sigh.

Jenbot · 29/05/2008 14:46

mustsleep - yes I am from Leeds actually, but I'm living daaahn saaaf these days.

There seem to be a few of you in Leeds, wherabouts are you all?

hopefully · 29/05/2008 14:48

Congrats on the good sugar news and commiserations on the bad blood news, kashasarrasin, but at least you can start tackling it now and with a bit of luck you'll feel a million times better in a few weeks.

Just got back from the midwife, she had a grope of my tummy and said baby's growing nicely and heartbeat was really strong. Also got my MATB1, so can get that sorted with work, which is good.

Good to hear everything is OK Kasha.

I just noticed yesterday that my spatone box had a best before date of last April!

I've requested to join the group on facebook

jennylindinha · 29/05/2008 15:06

Carrieon - I've requested to join the facebook group! My name is Jennifer Brown (yes, there are thousands of us on there...)

imoscarsmum · 29/05/2008 15:29

Carrieon - I've also requested to join the group. I've started requesting to add some of you on facebook - feel free to add me. I'm down as Steph Naylor.
Kasha - great news on your sugar. Out of interest, do you know what the 'normal' range is so I know what I'm aiming for when I have mine done? Ta.

KashaSarrasin · 29/05/2008 15:41

imoscarsmum I had a look here where it says the normal range should be less than 5.8 mmol/L after fasting and less than 7.8 mmol/L 2 hours after glucose, but each website I looked at had different numbers.

Am I the only person who doesn't like the non-anonymity of Facebook ?

lollipopmother · 29/05/2008 16:15

I don't mind Facebook, at least it's only people who you have accepted as a friend that can see your page.

biglips · 29/05/2008 17:00

im on facebook.......(I'm Helen Sample)...dont really go on it as i use myspace alot.

where is your baby kicking the most? as mine is on my left bottom side (prob where my ovaries are). this baby was showing back to back (same as my dd)

potxola · 29/05/2008 17:00

lollipopmother I am glad your MW put your mind at rest. I have just come back from mine and everything is fine too.

Kasha at least you know what to do from now on. But yes they should have told you before.

Hopefully I agree about just not having enough time or energy to learn about more things. Today I used ebay for the first time. AND>>>>> I managed to win a bid for a funky pink new tumytub.Only saved £ 8.00, but I am soooo proud. It was very exciting, especially the last 20min.

becaroo · 29/05/2008 17:26

Hi all, still feeling rubbish and I am sure you are all fed up still hearing about it!!!

Off to Thomasland with my dh and ds tomorrow so hope I get a decent night tonight

Cant really beleive my little ds is 5 in 2 weeks...it goes by so fast, guys, it really does (sob!)

Never been on facebook...er..what is it exactly??? (need a dunce emoticon!)

becaroo · 29/05/2008 17:27

starlight they really seem to make it all up as they go along, dont they?

eandz · 29/05/2008 17:30

O.K.!
I have JUST caught up on todays latest. When I lived in Texas I didn't want facebook or myspace because in the states everyone talks to eachother and if you've got a myspace, facebook then everyone is in your business. But when I moved to the UK...I noticed no one talks to eachother. So I started up a facebook account to make friends with people i was going to uni with here...and it worked...so I guess I'm a huge fan.

anyway I JUST got back from C&W and have been told I'm overweight and my blood pressure isn't high but it's higher than normal (for me) so my consultant thinks I should consider having an elective c section. i am VERY confused about this.

I thought c-sections should be avoided unless needed? i understand that i'm a chunky monkey, but i see chunky gals give birth vaginally (on youtube) all the time.

i think i'll have to call my dr.mommy now and admit defeat...

imoscarsmum · 29/05/2008 17:30

Ooh thanks for adding me on facebook Eandz. Your photo is really nice and I'm envious that you are so young . I am 12 years older than you

imoscarsmum · 29/05/2008 17:34

IMHO, I'm guessing I am way bigger than you Eandz and I'm not having a cs unless medically necessary. Being slightly overweight and having slightly high bp should not be a reason for an elective cs! If that were the case, I should definately have one but my hospital encourage vag birth wherever possible - stick to your guns!

lollipopmother · 29/05/2008 17:45

EandZ I'd have throttled the Dr if he had said that to me, cheeky b*stard, surely c-sections for the reasons he mentioned should be for heavily obese people, of which you are not one!

Potxola Great to hear that your MW confirmed all was well too. I just wound myself up I think, I'm not a natural worrier so when I worry I tend to get a bit carried away!

Biglips I only feel kicks very low down due to having a high anterior placenta and also because the baby is breach atm. I do occasionally feel high up tweaks but it's very rare (undoubtedly there is movement there but the placenta masks it all).

eandz · 29/05/2008 17:48

Thanks for requesting me imoscarsmum! Your photo is pretty hot too and to be quite honest, I was planning on having kids in 12-14 years from now...so I kinda envy you. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side

imoscarsmum · 29/05/2008 17:50

Ooh - I've remembered a question I had. At my scan I was told my placenta is 'at the top of my uterus'. When I asked if that was normal, she said 'nothing is normal with pregnancy', Very helpful, I'm sure. Can anyone help with terminology? I don't feel many kicks - do feel things every day but nothing like pthers describe. I am quite overweight myself so that may be a reason

(and I looked at a website the other day with had birth stories from women who are US size 26 and above, think that's a UK size 28+, and who were 22 stone+ - most had normal, natural births incl home births. I'm nowhere near those sort of weights, so I'm v positive).

eandz · 29/05/2008 17:54

Lollipopmother and imsoscarsmum,
I agree with both of you. I know I don't want or need an c-section...if it really comes to it then they'll surely give me an emergency c section if something goes wrong, but it shouldn't stop me from planning a vaginal birth. i think.
