Thought I'd do this and post my last comments:

Hi all. Glad to hear more good scan news!

We had MIL visit this weekend and she is such hard work. She literally never lifted a finger and kept going back to bed every couple of hours. I've asked DP not to let her come again for a while as it's hard work waiting on someone.

We also finally put DS in his 'big boy bed'. Went quite well - he went to bed no problems, but he woke up at 2am crying as he'd got stuck under the duvet. He was then awake for a couple of hours so I'm feeling shattered today. Anyone of you with older children got any tips?

Slinkie we'll be near each other for mat leave won't we? We can have some fun together I'm sure.

Meglet I'm the same as you with the whole bf thing. I hated it last time and was relieved when I gave up. I keep veering to and fro with regards to trying it for this baby. I had such a happy time last time round, really enjoyed the whole experience, and am worried that attempting to bf will make the whole thing fraught.

OP posts:

Imoscarsmum Well that wasn't a very helpful description! I think generally the placenta attatches to the back wall of the uterus, thus those ladies will feel movements all over their bump. No one will feel kicks to the back of the uterus/inside their body as there are no nerve endings there.

People with anterior (front) placentas feel less kicks and normally lower down on their bump. If your placenta is described as anterior and low then I assume you'll feel at the top of the bump, having a low placenta can throw up some problems during labour as the placenta can hinder the cervix.

My notes clearly say placenta anterior, not low. I assume everyone's notes should have their position in it??

blimey · 29/05/2008 18:04

Hello ladeez, haven't been around much due to being away on a course AND not having internet at home at present. Feeling ok though, nothing to report.
EandZ I have a slightly cynical thought about what your OBGyn said - you are a private patient aren't you?
Csections give the consultant plenty of control and a fixed date for doing the deed - vaginal deliveries are much more unpredictable! I maybe wrong, but...

eandz · 29/05/2008 18:07

mine say posterior placenta.

eandz · 29/05/2008 18:11

blimey,
i was thinking he wanted me to opt for an elective c section because then he can charge my 1k extra...i signed on with him after he lowered his price by 2k because his prices were higher than all the other consultants but he was the only one available...and he knows that if he does a csection he'll get to charge full price plus 1k...

Sassafrass · 29/05/2008 18:18

Hi everyone, had a bit of an interesting day today. Took dh to a specialist dentist today as he had to have three teeth extracted while being sedated. I felt a bit funny while sitting in the waiting room and then fainted when I was sitting with him in the recovery room. Felt really embarassed. The nurse said my bloodpressure got really really low. Not sure if I'm going to go see the doctor about it tomorrow or just accept that I have low bloodpressure.

eandz · 29/05/2008 18:29

i get low blood pressure when i'm in pain. but apparently these days i have higher than normal blood pressure but it's still not 'high'... if thats not confusing then i don't know what is. But seriously get it checked out Sassafrass.

mustsleep · 29/05/2008 18:50

i am going for a GTT next wednesday as my dad has type 2 diabetes although i never had to go for one with either ds or dd and never had any probs - are everyone elses at the crack of dawn?

kel78 · 29/05/2008 18:52

Hi all. Hope ur all ok, I too am starting to feel really big and when I took dd2 to the opticians today they gasped cos I have 3 months left. Obvs thought I was due alot sooner, didnt make me feel too great.

Im on face book too its kelli vowles and I am standing with dd1 and dd2 on hols.

mustsleep · 29/05/2008 18:52

is it wrong that dd knows all the names of the Thundercats? my sister bought ds it for his birthday as we used to watch it all the time when we were his age but dd (2) loves it more than he does

eandz · 29/05/2008 19:14

i LOVED thundercats!

ohh, and kel78...i sent you a friends request

potxola · 29/05/2008 19:19

Eandz I agree with lollipopmum and the others. Stick to your guns. I did not think you were overweight and we all put on weight when pregnant. The BP needs to be controled, but it should not be a reason to go for a C-section. Look for a second opinion, phone the Tomy pregnancy helpline and talk to a mw there. I am sure they will reassure you.
Let us know.

meglet · 29/05/2008 19:35

eandz have you been watching people give birth on Youtube ?! I never thought of that.

eandz · 29/05/2008 19:38

meglet,
childbirth has always been a fear of mine. youtubing isn't making the fear go away though.

meglet · 29/05/2008 19:49

eandz Actually, i didn't shy away from finding out everything to do with childbirth prior to having DS. I am the sort of person who would rather know all the gory / scary stuff beforehand so I can prepare myself. Never thought of youtube though!

Knowing me I'll go watch a c-section on there now and scare the willies out of myself!

mamamufin · 29/05/2008 20:16

Hi guys just catching up with todays events!
Eandz you are so not overweight, I am [shocked] that your consultant suggested a cs. OOO I am going to watch a YouTube birth!
Dont worry I will not be favouring facebook over our lovely thread. .
Sorry you had a wobble today Sass hope ur feeling better now. I would defo get it checked out.
I ordered my bugaboo today , ive been waiting for this day for so long. Ive gone for the charcoal base with the new navy blue canvas fabric trimmings. It is gorgeous. I got all the extras car seat, adapters, footmouth, parasol etc. I wasnt impressed by the changing bag. It did not look nice and they did not do it in the right colour. So I got the buggy board instead . I will need to look around for a decent bag now. I am not collecting the bug till the end of Aug. Hmm
I also brought a grobag swaddling blanket and a new mattress for moses basket.
That is it now for a while.
Had my hair highlighted today also. Unfortunately, Back in work tomorrow .
Take care girls x

lollyheart · 29/05/2008 20:21

Oh no my craveing for sniffing nail varnish is back

I love watching births im thinking of recording mine this time so i can watch it over and over might even put it on you tube

carrieon · 29/05/2008 20:21

eandz I am also very sceptical of what your cons has said. Firstly, I've seen pics of you and you are NOT overweight! Crikey if you are then I dread to think what they'd make of me...

Secondly, my friend in Brazil says about 99% births there are c-section, and its for the benefit of the docs. People claim on their medical insurance, and the docs get way more for a c-section (which is a major medical procedure) than a vaginal birth. Also, the docs like to work mon-fri 9-5 and if you leave babies to their own devices then they're not always good about arriving during those times!

If I were you I would 'take on board' his comments but go for a vaginal birth. You are the patient!!

mamamufin · 29/05/2008 20:31

Good advice carrieon, I agree with you . I hope we are in hosp at the same time.
Gosh guys I am getting a bit paniky over the size of my feeble bump. It is so much smaller than the ones you guys are posting on facebook. Erm in fact its alot smaller . I think I better make a midwife appoint to put my mind at rest.

slinkiemalinki · 29/05/2008 20:39

Hi all.
mammufin good choice on the Bug! And wise choice on the changing bag - it's awful, totally impractical and impossible to use. I eBayed mine within about 5 minutes. I have sand and red hoods right now but am switching to blue in September! Although I have gone for the fleece as I have loved it these last couple of years so made sure I bought the one they are stopping before they ran out.
eandz I am a bit worried about your doctor and his suggestions, blood pressure goes up and down anyway and from what you've said, you don't sound overweight at all. I can't say I have any experience of him. I think I'd be inclined to seek a second opinion - maybe from your old guy at the Portland - but I guess you have your mom for that.

lollyheart · 29/05/2008 20:40

Try not to worry mamamufin dont no if you have seen my pic or not but i was smaller at full term with dd and ds they were both just over 6lb im hoping for a least a 7lber this time.

Kagey · 29/05/2008 20:48

Hi all,

Eeek I seemed to have dropped off the list, however I am completely rubbish at posting so completely understandable.

All a bit stressful at the moment as we were supposed to move house tomorrow but it fell through last week, so back on the trudge for house hunting and only 15 weeks to go before the big day .

mama....I didnt show AT ALL with my ds til I was about 28 weeks, so dont panic. (Started buying maternity clothes at 27 weeks and got some REALLY odd looks in Mothercare - felt like puttng a badge on declaring I was nearly 30 weeks pregnant!) Also, I am pretty sure you havent put on as much weight as the rest of us due to your awful ms.

eandz am really shocked at what your consultant suggested....second opnion needed I think?

sassafrass...I have always had low blood pressure - prior to pregnancy they sometimes couldnt get a reading on me! It is supposed to be a sign of good health as athletes all have low bp. I have been ok but have to get up from sitting or lying slowly or I feel a bit dizzy. If you are worried, go to your GP I am sure they will help out your mind at rest x

eandz · 29/05/2008 21:10

to be quite honest, i have put on two stone since december and that was when i didn't know i was pregnant...and this was my 1st meeting with this consultant since i decided to book with him. i have an appointment with my old consultant on the 4th and ask him what he thinks. my mom is completely outraged that anyone would suggest a c section...thank you guys for siding with me about the c-section. i feel a little less frazzled about it.

mamamufin,

which bugaboo did you order? what was the reason you decided on this model? (i can't make a decision about ANY pram)...

Agree Starlight with a lot of what you say though I know quite a few people who've had private OBs and all had normal birth except one who had an emergency section - as far as I know none even had electives suggested. Last time round I saw the consultant who is now my OB after my induction (which he advised on) and he said I had an excellent outcome given I had needed to be induced. This time round although we've not gotten into details this early on, he said that obviously another normal VB with no intervention was the plan. So they are not all keen for sections! - but cannot speak at all for this particular doc as have no experience of him... all does sound worrying for EandZ, hugs, hope you get some helpful advice out of your old OB.
