Happy Birthday Allipalli - hope you have a good day with your parents, are you going out for lunch?

needahand - glad you're enjoying ML

Just stopping from cleaning for a coffee/mn break

Parofleurmapu · 23/05/2008 09:55

Morning

m fine here, cramps are less today and LO is digging the heel of her foot into side of my stomach. Sometimes it hurts so bad that its actually really painful.

Thinnk i might have lost a little of plug too then
I thought it had to be (TMI) tinged with blood but it wasnt. That was on Mon night it was only a bit though

Debating whether to get up and move to bed Dh has put downstairs as neighbours have decided today is DIY day! but not sure its quieter down there either

debinaustria · 23/05/2008 10:03

Paro - I get that foot in the side feeling too and it hurts. Hope your neighbours get fed up with the DIY soon.
What's the weather like with you? Hope it's not too hot for you. Raining and miserable here.

Parofleurmapu · 23/05/2008 10:07

LauraT · 23/05/2008 10:16

morning all.

congratulations G43 looking forward to earing about Harvey's arrival. hope you are doing well!

I am now much better and back at work today was tempted to take one more day to recouperate but so much paperwork etc to do before I finish that would definately have felt like skiving! can't remember who asked, but didn't spot the parents on TV at the football, although they travel with the official Man Utd party which means that we got an hourly bulletin on the news as to when to expect the plane bringing them home to land last night!

PP horrid horrid lady how dare she speak to you like that you're a customer. They must have some kind of complaints procedure??

TGF good luck with the ECV today hope it goes well for you.

I am now only 5 days away from ML and can't wait, delighted that Monday is a bank holiday too!

pyjamarama · 23/05/2008 10:20

Morning all,

makecakes that is an incredibly cute baby you have made, well done! You have inspired me to go and order a swaddling blanket, which is blatently surplus to requirements, but what the hell!
Ver excited this morning as my totsbots nappies have finally arrived!!!!! I have spent a happy half hour pulling them apart and putting back together again. (simple things keep me amused nowadays)

GF Crossed fingers and toes for you today!

pyjamarama · 23/05/2008 10:22

GF3 CONGRATULATIONS! Looking forward to hearing all the details.

Parofleurmapu · 23/05/2008 10:22

Hehe might just go and do that! Taht would entail: allbran splitz, toast with jam, peanut butter and marmite, a yoghurt, fried egg sandwich, biscuits , cup of tea, choc mikshake for breakfast!!!! Yummy!

Glad you are better Laura

josey · 23/05/2008 10:25

Happy Birthday Alipalli...I will be 31 on Tues and Im like you I get irritated with my mother very easily and like to rebell against her all the time and normally for no good reason.

Debs plug with DS was like proper old blood stained snot and loads of it with dd it was like little bits of clear jelly...1st birth was 2weeks later 2nd birth was about 6hours later. Stay clear of you DH the last thing you need is going into labour with his germs

Essie I know what you mean about those families it was as though she had asked the HV to talk her husband round and he was having non of it....she looked hellish as well and she was only 35 and the kids were just wild....where as the other 2 were just big families....I have to say though if I was 43 and had 13 kids I dont think I would be going to such extreems to try for more.

Trying to work out what the baby is up too head seems to be down but over toward my left hip and bum is right up under my left ribcage so it all feels very weird and sore....have swimming with DD this morning so maybe that will bouce bubs into place.

Amberc · 23/05/2008 10:26

Oh my god - am sooooo tired and dizzy after waking up every 45 minutes in the night with braxton hicks contractions pushing the baby's head into my poor bladder. Can you die from lack of sleep? Got up and wondering about elective c sections now. Also Sky TV's broken down. And had row with fella last night. Anything else????!

Rolf · 23/05/2008 10:27

Congratulations G43 . Lovely name.

Makecakes - what a lovely photo - she's adorable.

Good luck today TGF.

I have a dodgy tummy - don't know if it's pre-labour "emptying out" or the spicy food I had last night, but I'm not feeling too good and DD will not enjoy staying at home all day. DH kept me awake last night by snoring horribly then wanted me to "help" him get up at 6am (ie make him coffee) . Serves me right for feeling smug when you were all going on about your DHs

Upsidedowncake · 23/05/2008 10:45

Congratulations, G43! Wow! Big baby! Was any of that water?

Makecakes, what fab swadding!

Debs, congratulations on your show and your BH. I know you don't want them to be, but are you sre they are BH ...???!!!

TGF, good luck for ECV today

Allipalli. happy birthday. I trust you will be greeting your parents (at 945) with daygo pink nail varnish and electric blue eye shadow!

Went out to supper last night and was a very lazy person as took a cab back. The suspension was very bad in the cab and I was bouncing about like mad! I can see why they say it's a good way to bring on labour!

Good morning,

Time for my birth story.

Sunday evening I went in so I could have my GTT in the morning. At about midninght I statrted to feel contractions so I was monitored and then the midwife examined me and I was 3 cms. The pains stayed constant but I called dp and went to labour ward. By about 4.00am it had stopped so I went back to antenatal.
Monday morning I had my GTT. No pains or sign of baby. The results from the gtt where fine but they didn't arrive until the evening and the dr's hadn't written a clear paln of what they planned to do if I didn't have diabebtes and there wasn't a dr from my team around so I asked to stay so I could speak to a dr in the morning. A
At about 10.30 the contractions started again so I mentioned it to the midwife and at about 11 she put me on a monitor. The contractions got stronger. At 12.15am she examined me and I was 4cms and definatley in labour. I called dp. Midwife offered me morphine and then gave me my antibiotics though didn't give me the morphine. Someone brought me G&A. DP arrived about 12.45 and I was taken to labour, the pains where very bad and I could feel that alot had happened in the 30 before I was transfered. When I got to delivery the midwofe broke my waters at about 1.10 and said I was 6cms, after she did that she examined me straight after and I was 9 cms, she moved the lip of my cervix and I was 10cms!!! I didn't have the urge to push and could feel the baby was very high up, I was in so much more pain that I had ever been in in my life! G&A did help to keep my distracted. I tried to push but it felt pintless as he was so high and I could feel anything happening when I did, it was so painful that I decided instead that with each contraction I would either run backwards up the bed or cross my legs!! The midwifes were very good despite me rufusing to push. Eventually one of the midwives put a couple of fingers inside me to show me where to push too, it was very effective and Harvey was born at 1.55am. He was back to back which is why the pushing was so hard!!!
The midwife put him on my chest and dp cut the cord. As soon as I looked at him I could see he is a mini me!
I just nneded one stitch, I told the midwife no to bother but she said that if I didn't I would have a gapping tunnel that flaps in the wind, so I didn't feel I could refuse!!!
Harvey is very cute and cuddly, feeds well and has slept well too. I didn't have enough antibiotics to cover the group b step so he had 48 hours worth of iv antibiotics but he stayed on the post natal ward with me. It took a while for him to maintain his body temp and his blood glucose dropped so the scbu nurse gave me some formula and it went back up. Poor baby also has a clicky hip and a heart murmur (DD1 had one too and it went in a few days). He will have a hip scan in six weeks and see the peads in 7 about that and his heart.
Happy to be home and the girls love him. I can't stop holding him!!

systemsaddict · 23/05/2008 10:54

congratulations G43, how exciting to have all these babies arriving! Look forward to hearing more!

Thanks for posting your birth story makecakes - I hadn't realised quite how bad your SPD had got before the birth, you are a brave woman, here's me whingeing about my mild case - bit of a wake-up call! Has it cleared up now?

Good luck TGF!

My dp has been coughing for weeks after a cold and is now convinced he's developing pleurisy. He's had it twice before after a coughing cold, it means 6 weeks of agony and he is very down about it, thinks we won't be able to cope with that and the baby. Of course, his way of being down is to be snappy and aggressive which is a complete PITA at this point and my patience is running out. There is very little the GPs can offer him - last time they just said take OTC painkillers till it goes away - he won't even go to the dr's with this at the moment as they were so dismissive with him last time, though I have tried to persuade him in case there are some stronger painkillers he could get.

We have been doing steam inhalations with essential oils to try and minimise the actual coughing, plus rest and fluids and anti-inflammatories. I have tried to talk him into seeing a Chinese medicine practitioner as this is the only thing which I can find online which is really supposed to help, but that basically means acupuncture which he vehemently doesn't believe in. Any ideas or experience gratefully received ...

systemsaddict · 23/05/2008 10:55
