We are two down and have another 30-40 to go. Makecakes and Gemma have probably popped by now, then G43! It's all happening!!!!!

G43 - congratulations! He is gorgeous!

Josey - good luck if it is all kicking off!

I seem to have slipped into being boringly domesticated since I finished work, done lots of baking this week (brownies, bread and biscuits) and cleaning and that is about it.

Nothing interesting to report on bump, still got itchy stretch marks, going to go up to town today and try and get something to put on them.

DQ- was it you who was asking if everyone had packed their bags? I haven't and we are due about the same time. At the moment we have a huge pile of baby stuff that needs sorting out but have nowhere to sort it to until DH makes up a little chest of drawers this weekend. So my job next week is to tackle the pile of stuff, wash everything and put things away and pack the bags as I go I reckon.

When did people start drinking raspberry leaf tea? and where did you get it from? I read something about it the other day that said you should drink it from 32 weeks, whoops! I had assumed it was for the last few weeks.

ktpie · 23/05/2008 11:25

Paro - good luck if it was a contraction! (I'm like you I have absolutely no idea what to expect)

whinegums · 23/05/2008 11:38

G43 - how lovely, congratulations! It's all kicking off now on the June thread isn't it?

Paro - think I had the same thing yesterday - v sore back and then gripping pain at the top of my bump. Thank the lord it went away!

Well, first day of leave, and have got ladygarden sorted - that bloody hurt today - bye bye Brian Blessed, hello Johnny Depp. (Obviously when he has his cute pointy beard, not Jack Sparrow weird plaits!). Think I will go and have a wander around the shops as I have no urge for nesting (even though the flat is a pigsty!).

Good luck to everyone who is having BH/shows/early contractions/turning/etc etc etc!

debinaustria · 23/05/2008 11:49

Whinegums - you shouldn't do that to a heavily pregnant woman - pmsl at the thought of Jack sparrow plaits emerging from your swimming costume!!

G43 - What a gorgeous boy and sooooo kisseable.

Paro - could you carry on walking or did you have to stop? The test is to see if you can continute as normal - BH, if not a contraction.

Josey nice to see you joining me in the "gunky fanjo" group!! What colour was the jelly and how big? I'm due 2 days after you, wonder who'll pop 1st?

I feel like baby is further down today but no more BH. I do feel more uncomfortable though. Stay put baby, we're not ready yet!

needahand · 23/05/2008 11:50

G43 congratulations again. Ihad a look at the picture and Harvey is very handsome.

allipali happy birthday.

Can't believe all the prebirth activity going on. I am feeling nothing happening here and I'm sure I will still be here in July!

Ktpie I started with one cup of raspberry leaf tea from 34 weeks and have just started on the tablets today (36 weeks today). I got the tea from Holland and Barrett and the tablets from the internet.

debinaustria · 23/05/2008 11:56

Rolf - can I ask a favour? Has Which done a test on digital cameras lately? Don't want to pay a fortune, just want a decent one, and preferably before baby arrives, ours is currently stuck together with sellotape.

whinegums · 23/05/2008 11:59

Honestly Debs, I probably could have done the plaits - the poor woman who had to take on Brian Blessed asked how long it had been since I'd had my bits waxed. I told her I hadn't been able to see them for a while.... Out of sight, out of mind is what I say!!!!!

I'm upping my RLT consumption now - 3 capsules a day and 1 cup of tea - the tea is vile, so I stick a liquorice and peppermint tea bag in with it.

Happy Birthday allipali!

G43 - love the name Harvey btw.

ktpie · 23/05/2008 11:59

Thanks needahand, will have a look when I go to town. I am also feeling very boring here with all this activity happening to everyone else, nothing at all happening to me, I'm sure I will be the last one to go!

Neenztwinz · 23/05/2008 11:59

Congrats G43 - after all the stress of your pregnancy what a wonderful ending.

Makecakes - well done with your birth. To have all that intervention and still manage a vaginal delivery - that is great. You should be proud. I hope you and CJ are getting on OK with the BFing now.

I have been suffering major baby blues the last couple of days - after Theo's night of no sleep on Tuesday I have just been resting and trying to get my milk back up. Mum has been looking after me.

I had my first "OMG what have I done I have totally ruined my life by having these babies" moment yesterday . My sisters warned me I might feel that way. I burst into tears yesterday at the thought of my mum going home so she stayed a second night, but we didn't need her, although it was still a tough night.

It is just so hard during the night. It takes an hour to change, feed and settle both babies (if I am lucky. Sometimes it takes longer if one or the other won't settle). Then they are awake one to two hours later wanting to feed again.

DH can't help during the week cos he has such a demanding job and gets very ill when he is tired and rundown, so I am on my own. But at least he will be able to help tonight and tomorrow. And my mum is going to come every Wed to look after me from now on.

I have been douing far too much, not resting enough - I have learned my lesson totally. So I may not be posting on here very much for a while. I need to sleep when I get the chance and it might be another 10 weeks before I get anything like enough sleep again!

For all those BFing - make sure you rest rest rest or you'll end up with a baby who wants to feed all night!!! Trust me that is not nice.

Systemsaddict - thanks so much for that advice on washing nappies.

LauraT · 23/05/2008 12:10

what a cute baby G43! Neenz go away and rest and we'll still be here when you get back! (at least I will, probably until the beginning of July!)

whinegums Johnny Depp. hmmm. LOL.

paro good luck!

I have managed to forget my wallet today and am wondering how long I need to stay at work before I starve to death. found some fruit in my handbag which i conveniently left there a couple of days ago, but it is not going to sustain me all day.... send me virtual lunch people!

systemsaddict · 23/05/2008 12:18

Neenz big big hugs, it's completely normal to feel that way, the sleep deprivation and hormone changes take a while to kick in and it's a shock when they do. Rest and sleep all you can, do the bare minimum, and accept all the help you can get - twins is bloody hard work and you're doing such a great job! Glad the advice on washing nappies was useful - but if disposables for a few more weeks will make your life easier till you feel energised again, don't feel obliged to follow it just yet!!

Laura i have half a packet of chocolate hobnobs here if you would like one? it was a whole packet until quite recently

Parofleurmapu · 23/05/2008 12:27

Hugs to you neenz and go away and sleep!

Re the pain! Debs i leant on the bathroom door during it but because it took me by surprise think i could have probably walked!!!!

Good thing DP wasnt here he would have rushed my off to hospital !!! every time i grunt groan or even breathe he sayys oooh is it? or something similar Bless!! ALhtough must admit im slightly like him having never done this before all i know is that it really is when waters break or i really can feel them as in cant talk or walk !!! n0?

katyjo · 23/05/2008 12:37

Congratulations G43 I am very really can't wait to just get going, but hopefully won't be too much longer. Love the name! Big baby - well done you!

Neenz totally normal to feel like that, I found bf one baby hard so you are my hero feeding two! I know my mum wanted my sisters to be individuals so kept letting them sleep and feed when they wanted, but decided 'bugger this' after 3 days and my dad used to wake and change one while she fed the other. It must be really difficult with your dh unable to help much, try get as much rest as you can, really wish I could help.
We all have that 'what the f* have I done moment' but things will settle down. I know its a few weeks away but the first time your babies smile at you, all the difficult weeks just float away ..I sobbed like a baby.

Big hugs for you and your family.

katyjo · 23/05/2008 12:39

Good luck paro hope this is it for you! Don't wait for waters to break apparently only happens spontaneously in about 10% pregnancies (don't know where I got that fact from so don't quote me!)

needahand · 23/05/2008 13:54

Neen you are doing so well. The nights are bad enough with one but can't imagine what it is like with two. Your mum is a star to come and stay and give you a bit of a break every wednesday.

thegreenfairy · 23/05/2008 14:06

systemsaddict re your dp. A lymphatic drainage massage could help as it would boost his circulation.
Also, shiatsu (acupressure) is a good alternative to acupuncture for the needle phobic. Reflexology is also great.
With alternative therapies you don't need to believe in them for them to work...

g43 your son is so cute! I just want to squeeze those juicy cheeks . Thanks for posting your birth story - PMSL at the 'gaping tunnel' comment!

allipalli happy birthday! I may paint my toenails today as a special treat!

paro that sounds like one to me. If it hurts enough to stop you doing stuff it's worth keeping an eye on timings etc. Have had three false starts now and they do bloody hurt!

josey eeek!

neenz big hugs - you will be fine.

OKAY, marathon post alert...

Firstly, thanks for all the good wishes re this morning's ecv. I saw a lovely woman consultant and she had a good go, but came to the conclusion there's not enough room at the top of my uterus for LO to turn. This is what I suspected so I feel I can stop trying now - a huge relief given the discomfort involved. It wasn't as painful as the first time - she was a lot more gentle, but am still feeling rather battered!

This was at my old hospital and what was good was that, despite the negativity I've had from the other consultants, she was open to the idea of my trying for a natural birth. Basically, I'm tall (5ft10) and LO is about 6.5lbs now so she thinks it could be worth a shot. She said about 50 per cent of women at that hosp who try for vaginal breech birth end up with CS, which I found encouraging. She also was well informed about the best way to birth a breech baby and has written 'no epidural/ syntocinon' etc in my notes without prompting.

I will still see the consultant in Bath on June 2 as I want to know what the CS rates for vaginal trials are there, and am due to see my Bristol woman consultant on June 9 - if I've not gone into labour by then I'll have a back up plan for elective CS past about 41 weeks as bambino will get bigger and her head will get harder etc. But I suspect she'll be here before then (touch wood.

So, feeling a bit drained, and a bit sad it didn't work, but happier about the hospital's attitude now and glad I've been given the all clear to play the waiting game like most of the rest of you! Thanks to all the pushing and shoving LO now not engaged so will be interesting to see what's next...

systemsaddict thanks for the virtual hobnob! am going to try and hang on until 3 and then leave early, in a 'well I've been ill and don't want to overdo it' kind of way!

TGF sounds like you have had a much better experience today, despite the failure to turn, I'm pleased for you!

ktpie · 23/05/2008 14:22

How are you all managing to paint your toenails? I can reach mine but can't stay in that position long enough to paint them! DH had to do them last time (and did a better job than me!).

TGF - glad you are feeling happier about the hospital, sounds like you need to take it easy for a bit.

Neenz - hope you feel better after a rest.

I got some raspberry leaf tea in town, just having some, it's nicer than I thought it would be! Also got some chamomile ointment that seems to be easing my horrible itchy stretch marks. Managed to forget to lose the shopping list though so will be sure to have forgotten something vital!

needahand · 23/05/2008 14:27

GF glad you had a more positive experience but sorry LO didn't turn. At least like you said, now you can move on and concentrate on having your vaginal birth. I hope it all works out for you

systemsaddict · 23/05/2008 14:38

Thanks TGF - and lymphatic drainage massage sounds a scientific enough name that he might be persuadable to try it! Think I will say it's what footballers have done, and see if that works . So glad you have had a better experience with the consultant, it makes such a difference when you have confidence in the people looking after you.

whinegums · 23/05/2008 14:50

TGF - glad you had a lovely consultant today, she sounds good. Hope it goes how you want it to.

Laura - go home if you haven't already! It's a Bank Holiday weekend - and pregnant ladies cannot survive on fruit and virtual hob nobs.

Neenz - you are doing amazingly well, rest!

Paro, ooooh, sounds like things are definitely getting going.

debinaustria · 23/05/2008 14:55

TGF - glad you had a more positive experience today

josey · 23/05/2008 14:59

GF sorry they couldnt get your LO to turn but sounds as though things were quite possitive in other ways

Neez dont worry about feeling this way I have yet to find a mother who hasnt...A MW friend of mine struggled with one BF baby and she always gave her DD a formula feed last thing at night it might be worth thinking about and also going back to disposables for a few weeks...be kind to yourself.

G43 lovely photo

Debs it was about the size of a pound coin blob and although clear had a very slight green to it.....Serious TMI fanjo still feels gunky though no more blobs have come out it is slimy to wipe

I took DD swimming the lady that takes the class did most of the stuff for me so I just had to slop about in the lovely warm baby pool...I then had lunch with mum.

Im having lots of aches and pains though and I dont know what to do...it really feels like pre labour those warm cramps in bands round back and belly...baby movements are bloody sore and causing huge BH's....Im really on a see-saw of its just false etc nothing to worry about and FK I need to get my DH home but if I get him home I know it will be false. I will have wasted lots of peoples time for nothing and he will be back tomorrow....sorry just getting paranoid but this has happend to me before and i dismissed everything only for it to be the real thing.

systemsaddict · 23/05/2008 15:21

Josey you know your own body - go with your instincts - but it does sound like things are starting! Are the cramps regular yet?
