its wrong as I should do housework or decorate my sons room which we have the paint for and all the bedding, new curtains for him, but no motivation.

CaptainCaveman · 01/05/2008 21:13

Awww, sorry you feel so tired - praying you get an energy burst soon! I have bought NOTHING yet for this baby - eeekkkk, denial won't help!!

TwilightSurfer · 01/05/2008 21:13

Jennylee, for Dizzy's sake, please say the travel system is NOT in your home. {{just say it whether you mean it or not}} Oh and nothings wrong with sleeping ANYTIME you get the chance.

TwilightSurfer · 01/05/2008 21:15

Captain, you have things from DS1...you're lucky you don't need to buy much at all.

OP posts:
Jennylee · 01/05/2008 21:18

I'm in denial too but august seems a long way off I keep thinking. i like looking at the baby stuff just don't actually feel the urge to buy it yet. although I saw a nice thing for co-sleeping which goes beside the bed

IlanaK · 01/05/2008 21:19

I did a quick scan back to see what I missed on the previous thread.

Dizzydixies - We have three bedrooms too. Two larger and one smaller. We gave the largest to the two boys to share and it is their playroom too. They love sharing and are really upset that the new baby will not be sharing with them. I too thought of what to do in the future. Here is what we decided in case it helps you: new baby will be co-sleeping with us, but his stuff will all be in the small room. He will go into the small room once he stops co-sleeping. When he is old enough, he will move into the older boys room either with them both, or if oldest ds is ready, oldest ds will get the small bedroom as his own space with desk etc. I think the oldest will definately get to the point where he wants his own room.

Jennylee · 01/05/2008 21:20

lol no its not in my home, and certainly is not sitting in the hall collecting dust for the next three months, no not at all.

TwilightSurfer · 01/05/2008 21:24

I almost bought that exact co-sleeper for DD. Used an ordinary playpen instead....DD really slept with us in the bed most of the time. I really liked the co-sleeper though. Might consider it this time....

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 01/05/2008 21:38

ds stayed in our room for all of 10 nights before he got put in his own room - man that boy was NOISY! We'll try having ds2 in our room but will see what happens when he arrives.

True TS, we have all our old stuff. I must get round to washing it but I guess that can wait until mat leave starts. I was looking at some of it tonight, the socks are so cute and teeny-weeny - a little red and white pair which say "mummy loves me". awwwwww. And the little body/vest suits, they are toooo cute.

CaptainCaveman · 01/05/2008 21:43

Right-o ladies, I have to give in and go to sleep. Must check what time mw appt is, can't be oversleeping....(ha, fat chance with ds the human alarm clock!).

Can anyone tell me how come ds will be 4 years old on 10th May? Where did that time go exactly?

Jennylee · 01/05/2008 21:45

My ds slept in out bed untill he was 18 months, and screamed if put in moses basket or cot so am afraid to waste money on those again, the only time ds did not scream in his moses backet we took a picture of him so we could capture it and pretend the moses basket was not a complete waste of money, but my parents are trying to get me to buy them again and not co-sleep, but i can't imagine coping without co-sleeping. plus we only have 2 bedrooms so can't buy shedloads of stuff, although I think I definately want a silvercross changing station, that folds away for storage, i just like the look of it.

Buckets · 01/05/2008 22:27

Confession time:
Neither me nor DH could stand having 3 of us in the bed so I do really fancy one of those co-sleepers since I plan to BF this time. Inheriting a swingy crib thing instead, haven't seen it yet though. DD went in cot in her own room by 3wks old because DH wouldn't have sex with her in the room () and DS slept in carseat or bouncy chair in our room for first 2 months due to reflux (DH's phobia dealt fairly quick with that time).

Cavey - I still sing "Oy'll get it" in Nanny's voice whenever the phone rings or the door goes .

TwilightSurfer · 02/05/2008 00:26

Jennylee...the waste of money and little space are also factors for me. We dealt with DD in our bed just fine. Even moved to guest bed which is smaller during a remodel phase of the master bedroom. That's why I'm leaning towards another playpen. As for changing station......don't laugh...I had one of those foam-pad/u-shaped pads (that's suppose to go on a changing table) on the floor in her room. I'd slide it under the crib (that we never used) to hide it sometimes. It worked perfectly that way. The playpen also had a changing table insert but I only used it when she was newborn. There's just so much stuff out there and the stores (and online) make it look so appealing but in reality you need very little to care for a child. That's my mindset with this pregnancy. Here's hoping I don't LOSE IT in the next three months.

Captain, best wishes for an excellent MW visit tomorrow. This will be the last time you see her before traveling to the states so have all your questions in order. Remember you've got a contact in the states if you need something while you're here.

Buckets, WTF sex at three weeks post?? That was about the LAST thing I wanted and if DH wanted he knew better than to admit it.

OP posts:
cyteen · 02/05/2008 00:33

I thought that too! Buckets, I salute your indefatigability /

Well, I have pretty much finished my hideous assignment...one panic attack and many moments of despair later, I've just the tidying up of references to do and a few bits and pieces of evidence to insert. Going to get up early tomorrow and do those, then print it at the library and hand it in. It's complete shit, but I am crossing my fingers that it'll do. This stupid piece of coursework has been hanging over me for weeks, making me anxious when all I want is to relax and enjoy my pregnancy, so I truly hope this will be the last I hear of it.

TwilightSurfer · 02/05/2008 00:33

Okay here's a question for the group: Is anyone or has anyone taken allergy medicine while pregnant? My cough is still bad so I finally broke down and took some Zyrtec (sorry don't know if available in UK but it's like Benadryl) today. I hate meds so I've only taken a child's dose and I have to admit it's sorta made me feel better. The baby's been playing like she's always played so I don't think it's bothering her. Just wanted to see if anyone else has medicated themselves during this process.

I'm going to assume everyone is in bed by now. I'm going to hang out with DH then crash out early. Catch ya'll in the morning.

Night

ta 4 advice on clothes, will have a look 4 some shorts too. ordered a lovely pair of cut offs and tshirt from m&s last night for 20squid for our hols (in maternity section)reckon i'll get tons of use out of them.

twillight i'm sure your medicine will be ok, it was only a kids measure, perhaps ring your docs & check if u can carry on taking it. they probably will ask u to call back later, that's what mine did with hayfever tabs. have you tried honey & lemon in a drink?

CaptainCaveman · 02/05/2008 08:15

LOL buckets - showing your age too!! (count duckula was my fave cartoon)

TS can you email me? captaincaveman 92 at yahoo dot co dot uk (no gaps obv)

STill need to find a pee receptacle.....seeing mw in 75 mins.....

poppysocks · 02/05/2008 08:28

Whatever you do CC, don't try what my Mum did once and use an old marmite pot. No matter how well it's cleaned all traces will not be gone and it won't make for sensible results!

miamla · 02/05/2008 08:47

CC, what about an empty bottle of water? if you haven't got one, buy one on the way, drink it (ensuring you'll definitely need a wee) and bob's your uncle!

IlanaK · 02/05/2008 09:13

Twilightsurfer - I get very bad allergies and the season has kicked in here. I have been advised through all three pregnancies (which were all at the same season) to not take anything orally. The meds here (including zirtec) all say not to take when pg. However, you can take topical things like eyedrops and nose sprays.

I kept saying after last time that I would not have another summer baby for this very reason and yet here i am again! My first was born July, seond June and this one will be July again!

Buckets · 02/05/2008 09:25

LOL Actually I think it was just less than 3wks! Then I felt I had to break that record after DS was born . What have I set myself up for this time? You have to remember that although I had had major abdominal surgery, I hadn't quite pushed a baby out so that bit of me was still up for it. 2nd time around DH had refused to sleep with me the last few days before DS's elective Csection (some bizarre logic I still don't get) so I was kind of gagging for it. I guess it's the relief of getting my body back that does it, so perhaps breastfeeding will counteract that this time.

Buckets · 02/05/2008 09:26

Cavey - I have all 36-odd episodes of Mysterious Cities of Gold on DVD (well worth £20 from some dodgy net geezer.) Still haven't watched the last one funnily enough.

We're quiet today aren't we??

Hope CC's app goes well and that she found appropriate receptacle!!! lol at poppysocks mum and the marniite jar. Wonder what came up in their results for that?? yeast infection ?
I have mw on Tues - must remember to pee in my pot!! Last time I sat there with my pot (actually I think I made dh look after it lol), and all these women - many of them much more pg than me, so clearly should have known the drill, were going into mw, then sheepishly coming out with a pot to perform in. In the end the mws made an announcement about everyone needing a sample. Some people STILL managed to go in without though. I must say I felt rather smug!!!!

I was alseep before 10 last night. But I woke up to wee at 11.30, then dd wanted a wee at 2, so I had one too, then dh came to bed at 3.30 (he had planned to stay up late - lots of letters need to go out today re church, so he planned to sit up last night), the I think i needed the loo later. ARGH! Had a good sleep overall though. An finding that I get really uncomfy in the evening - I get a pain under my boob/by my ribs, so in the end go to bed to stretch out and that helps. Took hot water bottle to bed last night, which was lovely - though when I owke up at 11.30 I was a bit on the hot side .

Not got too much to do today. Need to tackle the ironing (mainly dh's shirts - I'm being a good wife, after months of neglect when reallt bad with the m/s) and give kitech floor a quick mop over. But other than that ma havign a chilled day. Hence sitting on MN so far since i got back from school run/supermarket.

A mum at school - her ds is in dd's class - had a baby yesterday. a second ds. And it was on her due date!!!! Wow!!

We never co-slept (in the literal same bed sense) and I'm not sure I see us doing it this time. Dd was in our room in moses basket for first 7 weeks, though after than we were all disturbing each other (she was sleeping through) so we moved her into her room. Plus she was too big for the moses after that so had to go into her cot! In her life (she is 5 in 2 weeks) she has only slept in bed with us/ me a handful of times. It's always a treat (for her) when she does, and I'm never sure if i wish we'd done it when she was a baby or not. Probably not - but it's all personal choice, right?

alittlebitshy · 02/05/2008 11:16

sazzles you hadn;t posted when I started writing mine - wasn't ignoring you!! Yummy - pimms!!!
