Morning. I failed to mention my hunger has increased too. I was up at 2am eating crackers with cheese and having a coke. The needs have obviously increased.

No more spotting. I really figured (because of the itty bitty amount) it was just left over crap and the pool action had that douching effect I guess. Totally impressed by my togetherness about it. I guess with all the health stuff with me then DD over the past 33 weeks, I'm a little hard to scare.

When my sinus issue has finally moved from post nasal to face nasal. I'm popping into the clinic on Tuesday to make sure I'm handling it well. Honestly, compared to how this allergy thing's been over the past FIVE weeks...this is nothing. So maybe it's almost over.

Shower, preschool, then errands for me today. I don't remember what errands I need to run but I think they're written down somewhere. Hopefully I'll find the list. If not I'll just park and sleep until DD gets out of school.

Wishing all a splendid day!!!

My NCT Refresher course will start about 33wks for me, but I'm only going for the social aspect as this will be my 2nd elective CSec. £50's a good price to buy some new friends I think
Bank Holiday and DH busy laminating baby's room so a KFC Bucket for lunch today I think. Bit of fried chicken's always medicinal.

TwilightSurfer · 05/05/2008 11:48

Buckets my DH would do just about anything for a bucket of KFC.

You know I haven't even considered a birthing course this time round. I didn't find the ones I took with DD very helpful so maybe that's why. I'm a researcher so most of my info I found on my own. PLUS with DD I was addicted to birthing shows of all types. I believe it was the shows not the classroom that helped me. Maybe I'll go set the DVR to record a few.........nope, I'll wait a few more weeks.

good news to report.. I haven't had any more discharge to looks like Pip's staying where he is for a little longer at least!

ALBS we still haven't managed to do the hospital tour either..fancy trying to do the same one?
The ward sister was just really unhelpful. When i first arrived on the ward at 11.30pm I was being escorted by a sister from a different ward (having been at the hospital for 9hours already!) and she showed me to a private room. I commented how amazing that was and that i was really grateful etc. I was just settling in when about half an hour later miserable sister came in and asked what i was doing in there and why i had moved myself. Erm i hadn't moved myself anywhere! i was just doing as i was told. Anyway, i got moved out of the private room (do you think she helped me with my bags? did she heck!) and into a bigger room with 3 other ladies in it. Not a problem, I just wanted to get settled again. I tried to turn the lamp on (the whole ward was pitch black by now) but it didn't work. So i asked if she could help, she told me it was broken and that there was nothing she could do. I suggested we tried a new bulb in it. That wasn't allowed! Maintenance have to do that kind of thing and couldn't I read in the dark? (yup, she really did ask me this!) i gave up at this point and resigned to sitting in the dark with nothing to do (it was too noisy to sleep). The nice sister from the other ward had found some food for me (sandwich and a yoghurt) because i hadn't eaten all day. I asked miserable sister for a spoon, some water to drink and a pad to wear (doctor had asked me to do this). (Perhaps i should add here that i was being really patient and nice still despite the bulb episode). She told me I had to supply my own pads (it didn't seem to matter that i wasn't actually planning on being in hospital that night!) and she walked off. Few minutes later someone else came back with water and a polysterene cup (which I tore up to make it into a spoon!). I asked her for a pad and she came straight back with 2. During night miserable sister took my blood pressure etc, i asked her if all ok, she grunted and walked off! I did manage to dose off at one point but got woken up by her kicking a rubbish sack down the corridor!
But as I said, she was the only one out of all the staff I came across who was anything other than lovely so don't let it worry you!
Your friends certainly sound "interesting"!

cyteen there's a really good site with videos of how to do the basic things including casting off. I'll have a look now to see if i can find it again for you
If you can do knit, purl and cast on, you can already do all of the hard stuff! and combining knits and purls creates a whole load of possiblities for you!
when my cat sits on my tummy purring, this seems to get Pip wiggling as well so i reckon you're right about the vibrations being stimulating

buckets you're not wrong about the steroid injections hurting! dear goodness it hurt! As i was being injected with the first one she warned me it would hurt. a warning before hand would have been better because as soon as she said that, i tensed my muscles which made it even worse! stung like a bee sting for about 15mins! But i was ready for the second one, made sure i was really relaxed and it wasn't much worse than a normal injection. I felt rather pleaesd with myself for controlling it all better!
Your comment about your DS's sixpack and superhero strength made me and DP giggle! I'm assuming Pip's having a growth spurt at the moment due to the injections...because there doesn't seem to be enough time in the day for me to eat as much as i feel like i need to! my appetite is even bigger than it was before!
And thanks for the showing of solidarity... my bag isn't anymore than a list still so i really need to get that sorted this week! As for giant sanpads..hmmmm!
I've heard some excuses for drinking beer before but using it in breadmaking is the best one yet!

Sazzles you feeling better today? fancy your goldfish not realising you were pregnant!!
I was always helping my dad fix things so take it from me, she'll be fine but yes, don't watch!

TS its so interesting to hear what its like across the pond! and here's me thinking that ER wasn't true to life! There were a couple of ladies that went home from the ward for a day trip, i reckon they were only leaving so they could have a break! well done on your cleaning efforts but it sounds like you should have stopped sooner if your hip is sore. Sorry to hear you're having spotting, promise you'll go to see the ob/gyn earlier if there's any change at all? ok?

CC really pleased your Ds had a lovely birthday. You're right about nothing happening unless I complain about miserable sister. Knowing my luck though, she'll be on duty when i'm back on that same ward to give birth. I'm saving up my complaints for after baby's here (my midwife is going to get a complaint as well due to her absolute lack of care and interest! took her 2 weeks to phone me back after my leaking episode and unsurprisingly i still haven't heard from her since leaving an urgent message for her on friday morning)

pregnancy1, I'd forgotten you were going to be at whipps too. have you done their sunday tour? erm no, havent done any ante-natal yet, i'll be sorting that out first thing tomorrow morning!

re co-sleeping, i don't think any of us would get any sleep so we're definitely planning on a moses basket by the bed.

still no news from Dizzy?

miamla · 05/05/2008 12:57

woah! that was a mammoth post! sorry girls!

cyteen · 05/05/2008 13:07

Morning all

TS I hope you have received many contrite hugs from your DH today! Really glad you're feeling positive and not bothered by the spotting...sounds like a very sensible attitude to take to it all.

Buckets I do like beer bread (and beer, but that's another story I miss ale). Unfortunately my one attempt to make it by hand was a disaster - managed to sluice half the dry mixture onto the floor while adding the beer, and then the bread was like rock when it came out of the oven. Honestly, you could have used it as a housebrick. I don't have such a great track record with bread, if I'm honest - cakes are more my forte

Antenatal classes: I couldn't get onto any NCT classes that were designed for my due date, so we're doing ours end of May/start of June. We've got a whole weekend session (10-4 Sat + Sun), another Saturday session on breastfeeding, and then a Wednesday evening that's women-only. Is this what they're usually like? Can I expect them to cover the usual stuff, do you think?

Haven't heard anything from the NHS about their classes yet - am seeing the mw in a few weeks so I shall investigate with her.

It's lovely and fresh here today so I have been seized with the urge to do; have vacc'd the front room, cleaned the dining and coffee tables, emptied the bin, poured boiling water on the vile bin juice, cleaned the toilet, and been to the shop for roast dinner supplies. Going to have vegetarian pies, roast spuds and three veg, followed by homemade apple crumble and cream, YUM! As you can guess my appetite has also gone up a gear recently. Besides, I'm having my GTT tomorrow morning so need to fill up as much as possible before I'm nil by mouth for 12 hours.

cyteen · 05/05/2008 13:13

oops, sorry miamla, cross posted with you there. That ward sister sounds like she needs some attitude adjustment, so I hope you do follow it up. Most likely she just needs a kick up the backside and a reminder of what her job is - I think it can be quite easy to forget these things when you work in such an intense environment, not that that's any excuse.

Anyway, the main thing is that you and bubs are healthy and well

Website sounds awesome, it would be cool to have a look if you do find it again. Learning from a book is okay but a bit harder than actually watching someone, since you have to keep referring back to the page and there's no one to talk you through it. Also, the book I've got is unhelpfully bound so that it falls shut when you take your hand off it - you'd think the publishers might have thought about how practical this would be to anyone with two fistfuls of knitting needles!

miamla · 05/05/2008 13:45

blimey! the videos were easier to find than i thought!
here's a link for you... www.knittinghelp.com/videos/learn-to-knit

for some good patterns try www.knitty.com Click on the "archive" link at the top to see all of the patterns. Be warned, its an american site so you'll have trouble getting the same yarn as they suggest. If you do decide to go for something from here, let me know and I'll find a suitable UK yarn as a substitute for you. Lots of funky things though, well worth a look. the patterns are all marked for how easy/hard they are so you can choose your skill level before starting the project.

cyteen I've been knitting for years so if you've got any questions, feel free to throw them my way!

Ooh, forgot to say... i did a rough design of how i want to decorate Pip's bedroom and DP likes my ideas despite it involving lime green, bright yellow and a 6ft long crocodile! all we need to do now is move!

Buckets · 05/05/2008 13:50

Cyteen - will think of you being nil by mouth tomorrow . Secret to breadmaking is to use a breadmachine of course - and you have to scald and cool the beer or it will make the yeast drunk (or dead, I forget which).

Trick with nasty health profs is to burst into tears loudly and say 'do you have to be so unkind?' in front of as many people as possible .

Miamla - can't actually promise it was all due to steroids but he certainly looked mature when he was born at 38w5d. The superstrength and high pain threshold are also common symptoms of autism and we're getting his diagnosis (or not) this Thursday - or he might just have been swapped at the hospital with a certain baby from the planet Krypton... .

dizzydixies · 05/05/2008 16:37

call off the hounds girls all well in the dixie household

sorry for disappearing, was at work, and celebrating my birthday - stupid RL getting in the way

am off now for a couple of weeks which should give me time to catch up with everything I've missed lol

will be back on later tonight once have read everything!

cyteen · 05/05/2008 16:41

Phew! You had us all scared there. Happy birthday, hope it was a good one, even if sober

dizzydixies · 05/05/2008 16:43

thank you, was pishing with rain but today has made up for it, lovely sunshine and have spent it doing too much in the garden

will have a read of everything after tea as just tried but all too much to take in with these two trying to undo all our good work in garden without supervision lol

miamla · 05/05/2008 17:43

yay, good to see you back Dizzy, damn those RL friends of yours stealing you away!

TwilightSurfer · 05/05/2008 18:14

Dizzy dear we missed you. Glad you were having a good time, though.

I forgot to wish everyone Feliz Cinco de Mayo earlier. Visited my favorite Mexican restuarant for lunch. I go there so often I don't have to order...they just bring me my food.

Still knicker checking but nothing new. Had I been having sex like the rest of you ladies I probably would have expelled the stuff sooner. My hips are still bothering me and my belly feels like it's pushing itself forward (or someone's blowing it up like a balloon.) The area between my hips (down into the infamous lady garden) is not more rounded than last week. Makes me wonder HOW LOW CAN YOU GO? I'm so tired I can barely sit here and type. I keep telling DD it's time for nap....she's not listening!!!! I'm sure I'll be hungry again in a few minutes. EAT SLEEP take a tylenol EAT SLEEP take a tylenol EAT SLEEP take a tylenol All this and I've got at least 11 more weeks to go.

OP posts:
CaptainCaveman · 05/05/2008 18:21

Hurrah and huzzah! Hounds called off from dizzy-searching. Glad you are ok though, and that you had a nice birthday!

It's been a glorious day here today, around 23 degrees and wonderfully sunny. We had a couple come to look at our house and they seemed to like it - we'll keep saying our prayers for someone to buy it soon. Then we had a trip out to the 'duck park' - aka Colwick Park with a great big lake where we fed the ducks and a nice play park where we chased ds around. Phew. Just been asleep for an hour and now feel washed out - there's no pleasing some of us!

miamla the sister sounds like a mean old cow and I love buckets plan to burst into tears whilst asking if she has to be so mean

pregnancy1 we have one full day of NHS ante-natal classes on July 1st. I shall be 34 weeks by then. The hospital don't do tours of the labour ward anymore either (can't remember why), but I think you can do a 'virtual' tour of the ward (woo-hoo) online.

albs was just wondering if your husband prays for your friends individually or just refers to them as 'dw's odd friends'? . Variety is the spice of life as they say, your friends must keep you entertained (and make your eyes open!)

Suitcase is packed bar the daily essentials . Bonus - mum gave me the cheque back that I gave her for our theme park tickets!! That means I can buy my Quinny Buzz....now just to choose a colour!!!!

TwilightSurfer · 05/05/2008 19:13

MY stroller is STILL on back order!! Seems it could be another two to three weeks. The store offered me another color......CAMO!!!

Oh and Miamla that Ward Nurse....I've been thinking about her. She's got my feathers ruffled. Nurses like that have no place in the health care industry.

{{{hack}}}{{{hack}}}{{{hack}}}
still coughing here. The only thing that helps is Peppermint Tea. Would anyone else care for a cup?

ok, I think I've caught up lol

miamla what a worry for you, am glad it seems to have settled for now and veyr at the horrible night nurse though ,there is always one isn't there (sigh)

sazzles are you feeling any better? am glad you've been taking it easy. Loving the new hair too, its like you've just stepped out of the salon

TS Georgia is nice but I think I prefer Maggie with your dd1

CC am soooooooooooooo of your holiday, have a wonderful wonderful time

VG and Hazie are both on holiday Hazie in her log cabin and VG in Iceland if I remember rightly

so whats been happening with us?! Late shift was fine, busy but plenty of staff for once which was nice. both girls are fine and dh came home from his course in one piece - although he is now knackered from our gardening antics today lol

had a lovely birthday, lie in, mooching about then pc world, toys r us and pizza hut lol went back to bed in the afternoon though so that was lovely too [smile

am DEFINATELY feeling myself slowing down but them again late shift is always tiring as don't get home till midnight and always a little hyper from being busy

its the wedding this weekend too so have been making a bit of an effort and had the lady garden/ eyebrows and eyelashes seen to today. hair and nails on friday before heading up to the castle on friday afternoon

right am sorry for wittering on, have missed you all and its nice to be back

TwilightSurfer · 06/05/2008 03:19

Good Morning!!

I'm just getting ready to go to bed but wanted to start off on a positive note after reading all my negative posts today. YIKES!! I realize I don't feel quite myself but goodness gracious!!!!

Well I believe all my efforts today have ended with the baby properly positioned, head down. Now if she'll just stay this way. She almost brought me to tears a few hours ago by laying what felt like sideways, hip bone to hip bone. I'm sure that's a big part of my discomfort the past few days. It is nice though to be constantly reminded that she's alive and kick'n. And I am not kidding about constant.

So Captain, how many sleeps till the transAtlantic flight? (My DD measures everything now in sleeps.) We are soo much more alike than you know...I too am often packed in advance. I call it my trial run. I'll pack and repack to make things fit better or remove things that after further consideration I realize I don't need. DH finds it amusing but LOVES IT. I do all his packing whenever he goes ANYWHERE.

Dizzy your wedding weekend trip will be wonderful. You get to get all dolled up and proudly display your bump. Please make sure someone takes your picture so you can post it for all of us to see. You know we are all very curious to see how your lovely outfit turns out....since we all feel like we helped you put it together. As for my baby name thing, I'm honestly not sure where I stand yet. Georgia was never on any of my lists so I haven't a clue where it hit me from and Maggie I love but a few RL folk have given me issue regarding the whole "do you mean her name is Margaret?" DH won't commit to any name selection yet so I've time to come up with more.

Oh and one last thing, I bought myself a new watch today. I figure it won't be long till I'll have to start timing contractions. It's a lovely hot pink Timex (water proof, of course). I thought it might be important to add to our hospital bag list along with Miamla's earplugs.

Good Morning!

Wow everyone has been having really busy weekends!

Miamla so glad that you are ok and little pip is staying put!

TS i have been having exactly the same problems as you, lo kicking from hip bone to hip bone!!

I wish i could be like some of you so good in the kitchen.. my diet has been appalling this weekend, nothing at all i really fancied so just kept picking on rubbish, particularly time out bars, very nutritious...

Been trying to get the house organised for the new arrival and feel like i am getting no where fast.. there is still so much to do and no energy to do it!!!

Hope everyone has a good day, not great weather for us this weekend but it suspose to be nice today so fingers crossed!!!

Oh one last thing, i was panicking last night that my dd isn't potty trained yet she is 2yr 7 months but shows no sign of being ready.. any advice??xxxx

pregnancy1 · 06/05/2008 08:29

Phew, I'm so relieved for you Miamla! That woman sounds like a mare. I popped into the magnolia suite a couple of weeks ago to see a doctor about SPD and all the staff were brilliant (although it was during the day). I don't know whether I'm being harsh - please tell me, but I was in stitches when a woman came in asking if she could be induced because she had 2 small piles. I couldn't believe how patient the doctor was (apologies if I'm underestimating the trauma of 2 small piles,as this is my first and I'm only 25 weeks)....
Anyway, no I hadn't heard anything about the sunday tour - v exciting, I may ask soon, although it's been a bit difficult trying to get onto any NHS classes. My midwife told me to contact the hospital direct, who told me to go through my midwife. After about 10 phonecalls I eventually got put on a course of 3 parentcraft classes. Have to call again sometime this week to book the physiotherapy relaxation classes (but am putting it off). Hope it won't be as difficult for you Miamla - think mine was more tricky as I live in Redbridge which is a diff borough to Whipps.
Cyteen - our NCT classes are in the evenings (7:30-9:30) for 6 weeks in a row. Strangely a girl who lives a couple of roads away from me was put on a weekend one, so it may just be down to what's available on your due date.

Right, enough waffling - do I get the longest post talking about nothing useful award?

pregnancy1 - i live in redbridge (borough)too. There seem to be a few people who choose whipps over king georges/queens, don't there?
I think the Sunday tour is a case of turn up any Sunday at a certain time (may be 2pm, not sure) and they run a tour for those who have appeared.....

Oh, thanks for this alittlebitshy. I chose Whipps partially because my doctor said that she had lots of good feedback from patients (but none (good or bad) from Georges) and partially because I was born there! (Oh, that and the fact it's only 10 min away).

Are you booked onto any maternity classes? We may be on the same ones - I am on NCT Weds 19:30 from the 18th June (in Loughton strangely even though I am affiliated to the Redbridge group). Am on the NHS parentcraft classes (for non Waltham Forest residents)at Whipps from the 9th July (14:30). Haven't booked the relaxation ones yet....

Was a bit shocked by the price of the NCT ones.....

Miamla - So pleased to hear that your horrible few days have worked out well and the wee one know where he's best staying.

Sarah - I'm also having the potty training panic. Bought the optimistically titled "Potty training in one week" at the weekend and have booked the time off work in the second week of June to get it started. DD will be 2.3 by then so should be able, but whether she's willing is another matter. At least if it doesn't work though I'll know that I've tried.

She's interested in all the basic concepts, but hasn't actually done anything yet. Hmmm.

So - any tips welcome here too!
