Not sure if anyone else has started a new thread as our other one ran out of room, but here we go...

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
baiyu · 03/05/2008 13:27

Ooh, bobsmum and GCG, Martha and Cerys are both just gorgeous. Love the family pictures GCG.

DP driving all the way up to the highlands today, a fun 10 hours or so but he'll be here today (well late tonight)! So excited. How did you know what I had in mind GCG?! Will probably be very rude to MIL and drag him straight upstairs, hehe.

mumblesmummy · 03/05/2008 14:41

Podgelet- DPs much better thanks. He won't get the feeling in his finger back, but to be honest I didn't expect him to.

DP popped in his cousin's with her prezzie and she whinged that I hadn't turned up coz she wanted to see my bump lol. Then he came home, gave me loads of kisses, and brought a GORGEOUS teddy for baby. So I guess he realised he was being crazy wanting me to go lol. His auntie's just rung nad asked us to go for a surprise party for his cousin today with all her friends and stuff. DP said I wouldn't go because I'm so 'uncomfortable' and he'll show his face and then come home.. I suppose that'll have to do. Even if it will be full of 19 year old girls who have openly admitted to fancying my DP and have invited themselves along to our weddng abroad next year (I will put my foot down about that at a later date).

Otter- hoping we're in the same boat and almost ready to go. I've been getting v.bad braxton hicks today so I'm all set to go. If he hasn't made an appearance by tomorrow I'll just assume I'm wrong and start assuming he'll be here in weeks- then it'll be a nice surprise if he just shows up lol.

Casserole- Good God, can't believe they got the sex wrong!! I'm pooping a brick now since we've done every last thing in blue.

Brother in law has been trying to terrify me about the birth for some reason. He seems to think he's really funny. I beg to differ lol.

baiyu · 03/05/2008 14:48

mumblesmummy just wanted to share irritation at people openly fancying your DP, I know that one all too well! The amount of people that have thrown themselves at my DP just makes my blood boil, so damn insulting! We both do loads of theatre and it's always the new 18/19 yr old girls who think they can get away with it, making passes at him in late night rehearsals, inviting him out for 'cast and crew' lunches that turn out to be just DP and whatever girl is chancing it that week! Grrr. Not that they ever really worry me anymore but some people are just so rude! Sorry, bit of a rant but just wanted to join in that one!

baiyu · 03/05/2008 15:56

Hmm, I think I may be having a show but I'm really not sure... Sounds a little bit what like others have described, clear jelly snot-like substance but only a tiny bit at a time and definitely no blood. Is this a show?! Sorry if TMI!

mumblesmummy · 03/05/2008 16:33

Aww Baiyu, thanks for joining in my rant. It is infuriating isn't it? He said they look like the back end of donkeys and that I'm beautiful which was totally the right thing to say as i was having an 'I'm hideous!!!!' moment lol. But yes, 18/19 year old lasses do think they're Gods gift to our DPs and have no shame! Your show sounds very similar to mine and I reckon since the cervix will be getting ready, it'll be like losing bits at a time. But that's my unprofessional opinion. I've started to call mine a show now because it does seem that way I think. So yours probably is too!! Woohoo. Come on babies.

DPs friend just had a baby and she had really bad SPD and she said labour ward wouldn't let her use the birthing pool. Now I'm terrified they won't let me use the birthing pool and I can't imagine how a baby can come out on dry land.

asicsgirl · 03/05/2008 19:02

bobsmum love the birth story, thanks for posting that!

GCG no you were never a moaner me dear! On the contrary you kept us laughing... don't go over to the dark side just yet...

mumblesmummy glad DP is behaving better!

otter bad luck re. manflu - hope you feel better soon.

Well, baby is still playing hard to get. Very bad night... couldn't sleep, too uncomfortable. Had a better day though as decided (with gentle but quite persistent urging from DP) that I needed to stop moping around/ obsessing and get out and do a few normal things. So after DP and I had been for a walk, I walked round town with my mum and helped her buy clothes (she said 'Are you going to try anything on?' and I just looked at her ). Then took her and DS to the garden centre in the pm. Still having contractions of varying strength on and off - in fact I had quite a strong one in the car on the way to the garden centre - was thinking 'Shall I turn the car round? Nah, it's OK, Mum's on the insurance, she can drive if necessary' - didn't tell Mum tho' as she's a bit of a worrier (wonder where I get it from). Nothing happened (of course) but it was a bit of a moment!

Mitchell81 · 03/05/2008 19:07

Just to let you know Pina and Evie are home now, she will post as soon as she can. Still sore after her section, but home.

goodcatholicgirl · 03/05/2008 21:08

Just wanted to say....

oh my god my boobs hurt so much!

They are ENORMOUS and like two giant tingling orbs that I am struggling to carry around with me.......

You have all this to come girls!!!!

OP posts:
pregnabrain · 03/05/2008 22:31

All these pictures of new babies are making me so desperate to meet my own!!! They all look lovely.

mumblesmummy - grr at the 19-year olds (although I guess you can secretly be chuffed that you have a dp who is so fanciable!).

asicsgirl - sounds like you're definitely on your way. It must surely be a matter of days for you now.

I've been getting some mega braxton hicks in the last couple of days but i'd be surprised if it means anything. Am not even 37 weeks yet.

My hoped for homebirth ain't gonna happen . Saw uro-gynae consultant this week and he strongly advised against it coz of previous pelvic floor probs. So, I'm going to be in hospital after all, but hopefully free to use their pool to give birth in (am keeping everything crossed that it's not taken when we get there).

baiyu - hope your reunion with dp is suitably...steamy . Bring on that baby!

BigBadMouse · 04/05/2008 03:36

Ah the joys of late pregnancy.....

Its 3.30am and I sitting here in absolute agony because I have horrible piles ARGHHHHH!

They are soooooo painful! I can't sit down, lie down, stand walk, anything. I am only glad I am pregnant and can get away with a very odd walk. To make things worse my legs are jumping about when I lay down and I have terrible heartburn and have run out of the liquid relief stuff......

.....worse still I did a search for threads on 'Piles' for ideas on relief and came across a thread by someone called 'amateurarsedoctor' about how they operated on their own piles - I laughed so much and now they hurt even more

pregnabrain sorry about your homebirth being ruled out - turn up at the hospital with snorkel and flippers and smile sweetly and I'm sure they'll find you a birth pool.

Youcannotbeserious · 04/05/2008 07:12

Oh BBM - I'm so sorry to hear you are so uncomfortable but your post really made me (sorry! [blush!])

Pregnabrain (I LOVE your name - I didn't 'get it' until this last week, but I definitely have PREGNABRAIN too now!!) I hope you can still have your water birth somehow....

I'm also struggling to sleep, but am then SOOOO tired during the day.

GCG, PINA, Bobsmum, Podgley, Casserole - hope you are all enjoying your new babes and aren't too sore (sorry if I've missed anyone)

Mumbles, asics, Baiyu - Hope your babies are paying attention to those 'Eviction notices!)

Well, I'm off to walk the chocolate one and then I think I might go back to bed!!! (We went to London yesterday and I fell asleep on the train in AND in the cinema )

Hope everyone has a good day!

YCBS x

Youcannotbeserious · 04/05/2008 07:16

FLeurie - forgot to mention - Your 4 legged baby looks very cool! How is he coping with his disrupted routine?!?

I'm afraid, even though the chocolate one is nearly 5, he's still a puppy at heart and is the best part of 40Kgs
He's just a slobbering fur ball who bounces off walls without enough exercise!!!

Emmsy1 · 04/05/2008 07:23

Goodcatholicgirl Just popping in to offer a big CONGRATULATIONS to GCG on the birth of your beautiful baby daughter. Well done you! xx My pregnancy is going really well, I am now in my 16th week, really looking forward to having my 'new' baby. Best wishes to all the 'due May' mums who are still waiting to go into labour xx

sweetbean · 04/05/2008 08:59

Just skimmed through all the post to make sure there are no new arrivals!

so have missed everything that people have been talking about so will have to catch up another time but .......

Casserole OMG did you go for a private scan? or was it just the 20wk one at the hospital ??? So please that you have you beautiful son and that you are all settling in well xxxx

In a mad rush today but hope everyone has a lovely bank holiday weekend xxxxx

otter1980 · 04/05/2008 10:18

asics - sounds like you and I are having the same sort of carry on...

Dont think we'll hear from baiyu today as her DP should be back (and locked in bedroom!! )

CGC - they get even bigger??? I already put jordan to shame... seriously you could have someones eye out with 'em...

pregnabrain - for you re homebirth, at least you can use the pool though?

BBmouse - poor you - much sympathy coming your way!!

YCBS - im not suprised you went to sleep - I was in awe of the re-decoraters before i knew that you were still working and taking chocolate dog on 6/7 mile walks... i waddled round the park with DP yesterday and he was impressed, not telling him about your hikes (hes already planning long walks when bean arrives....)

right I have now has intermittant contractions since thursday so I've decided to try the pineapple method (orally!!) so ate one last night, have has one this morning and am now going for a walk (mainly because my sugar level will be way too high now), will let you know if anything happens...

Oh otter, pregnabrain pina and all of you you clearly know me so well... I've let the poor love go and have a shower but apart from that I've been keeping him in my room! lots of love xxxx

JackBlackRoady · 04/05/2008 14:03

wow big congratulations pina! evie is just delish!
and congratulations ot casserole - what a shock, but a nice one boys are just lovely.... ... well, i say that, but yesterday caught my DS on a porn website searching for particular things - all noted in the browser history - I then spent about 30 minutes talking to him in my best Science Teacher voice... poor thing, he really didn't want his mum explaining about the average size of a penis and why blow jobs are badly named, and what a vibrator was... DH felt quite sorry for him in the end! I tried to get him to see that finding out about sex will happen in good time, but it aint gonna happen on websites, as they are far too extreme and will make him think all sex is like that, and I always say to him, he can't watch 18 films, or play 18 rated games as his mind is still developing. I said 'An adult's brain can deal with extreme violence, horror and sex, but young teenagers have to be protected' and all the time i was thinking 'my little baby is growing up and although it is scary its also quite exciting!'

Anyway, hope you are all having a lovely BH weekend!
xxx

otter1980 · 04/05/2008 16:43

Pina - Evie is such a cutie, glad you're home and can get some proper rest also very good news re DD1!!

JBR - your poor DS. he'll not be doing that again in a hurry!!

Baiyu - i think he should be grateful he got a shower!!

just a quick check in to see if anything happening... not a lot here - having some practice contractions etc but nothing serious... hope everyone is having fun xxxx

sweetbean · 04/05/2008 18:56

WOW so quite that makes a change!!

Otter1980 OOOH it could be you!! (In a lottery style voice)hope the pains turn into something positive XX

Pina im so jealous she is so cute !! glad you OK and hope that the pain improves soon xxx

baiyu Don't ware yourself out to much just in case you go into labour and need all your strength!!!! xx

mumofk · 04/05/2008 19:54

Hello, just calling in to see how everyone is going on- last few weeks now, hope its not too long/not too soon for everyone! Sounds like a few on the boil, just about ready, hope there's some birthy silences out there...
Having new baby doesn't mean you get exempt from bugs- I've had a stinking cold and cough that is now finally almost gone- but I still sound like an alien and my hearing makes everything sound like its been digitised! I thought I had a sore throat from G&A...but it just got worse. Serious hacking cough spasms finally beat my pelvic floor Tuesay, but the cough has improved so my pf recovered by Saturday- thank goodness!
Good luck allxxxx

pregnabrain · 04/05/2008 20:07

Thanks for your messages re homebirth. Am not too gutted, as I'd never want to do anything to risk more damage to my undercarriage . To be honest, after being induced early last time, I'm really excited at the prospect of just going into labour naturally! I can't wait!

JBR - your story made me laugh so much (although I'm sure I won't be laughing when dd hits that age and I have to do the serious sex talk). I could just imagine him squirming with embarrassment at the whole thing. So great being a teenager .

baiyu - get off Mumsnet, for goodness sake. You've got far better things to be doing!!

pina - lovely birth story and glad everything went the way you wanted in the end. It all sounds really calm.

bbm - maybe you should see your GP about the piles if they're so bad they're keeping you up at night? i'm sure they can prescribe something to help. Pelvic floor exercises are very good for them too...

YCBS - sadly, I live up to my name even when totally NON pregnant.

So, where's the next baby coming from then? It's all gone quiet...my money's on Otter and asics.

pregnabrain · 04/05/2008 20:11

oh, and now i'm nearly 37 weeks I feel i should be stepping up the pre-birth rituals...

so far, all i'm doing is 1 RLT pill per day and pelvic floor exercises when i remember (you'd think that I, of anyone, wouldn't forget but I do).

What else should I be doing?

Evening primrose tablets?
Perineal massage? Is anyone actually doing this? How often?

Am going to try sex etc in a week or so (can you guess how keen I am from the way I put it? ). But, as my hypnobirthing instructor delicately put it "What got you in, gets you out" so it must be worth a try.

Coolmama · 04/05/2008 20:51

It's so great to hear all about the new arrivals -
Am due tomorrow but nothing has happened so I have a feeling this baby will be a bit late too - DS was 6 days late. Have an induction booked for next Wed but hopefully won't need it.!!
OTher than that, have just been busy with school stuff and getting ready for baby - ordered a breast pump and cleaned the old steriliser etc. Bags are packed and now just waiting, waiting, waiting............
