I thought I'd better start another thread as the other one was full to bursting!

Hi!
Just checking so I can find you all easily again . I get paranoid that I have no symptoms then I feel sick, can't stay awake etc etc. Oh and the main thing for me is that I go off tea.

sureitsno3- I had a very faint BFP with Clearblue to start with,so faint I almost wasn't convinced it was there . I think that might have been just about when AF was due (my cycles can be a bit irregular). I needed to convince myself and have since had very strong positives with a Tesco own brand.

I still haven't got round to making an appointment,I guess I'd better get on and do it .

Annagt · 23/04/2008 22:20

sureirsno3 Idont know-actually I dont know anything about a lot- but I thought that all those tests, test for a certain enzyme and if you test early on- meaning if it's right after you conceive it will be a faint line- wait a week and it will be a very strong line- the longer you are pregnant the more hormone is in your system. So I think (remember I dont know) that even a faint line is a positive...
I think you should try again in 2 days with a different test and see what happens then...

rosmerta · 24/04/2008 08:34

anna, as maewest said antental care varies between areas but if you go to the GP, he should refer you to a midwife for a booking appt which is where they take all of your medical history & is usually around 8-10 weeks. At that appt the mw will book the scan, usually around 12-14 weeks.

EffiePerine · 24/04/2008 08:38

I forgot another benefit to being pg in the spring/summer: no hay fever

Anna: yes your mw will book you in for a scan, I had to make the booking in appointment myself last time hence plan to bypass GP. Don;t think there's much point in contacting GP before 6 weeks as they'll usually tell you to go away!

rosmerta · 24/04/2008 08:55

but effie, it does depend on where you are. Eg, where I am, you have to go to the GP, you can't book directly with the midwife. So even if you go before 6 weeks they have to book you in.

rosmerta · 24/04/2008 09:02

sorry, I didn't mean for that to sound argumentative!

southernbelle77 · 24/04/2008 09:12

Morning! Nausea out in force this morning. With dd I hade bad morning sickness so at the moment I'm glad it's just nausea!

Did another pregnancy test to make sure it was still positive before going to the doctors today!! Hoping he will give me somthing for the spots on my neck as they really are quite painful! Also hope to get my booking in appt with the midwife too which, last time at least, was at 8 weeks.

monkeydops · 24/04/2008 09:39

hello can I join? No 2 is due probably on 22nd dec but not too sure about dates as only just stopped BF DS1 and have only had 1 period. V excited but bit shocked happened so soon. Also, hung up on fact that 22nd dec is day b4 DS1's 2nd birthday as well as being just before Xmas, so worried how DS1 will deal with it all. As well as all the family hassle about being due around xmas for the 2nd time. Haven't told them yet!

Disenchanted · 24/04/2008 09:49

MORNING LADIES

Am feeling a bit today. I keep worrying about something going wrong.

I just wish I was 12 weeks so I can relax (a bit).

When Im actully sat alone, floating in the bath or something I actully feel OK about it all, I feel like everything will be OK and I can see myself having a lovely homebirth in Dec ect ...

But then when I start thinking of all the mc people in my family have had I start to panick.

Ill be confident everything is OK and that I got my BFP over a week ago and its stuck but then Ill open a thread thats got nothing to do with MC and someone will have posted I had a MC at 6 weeks and another at 7, and Ill be like, 'yea, didn't really want to read that'.

Up to now everythings going good, but Im just nervous

EffiePerine · 24/04/2008 09:58

DON'T READ THE MC THREADS

It's the only way to stay sane, honestly. I try and think well, if something is going to happen worrying about it won't change that, and just wait and see (though it is hard). Am a bit less worried with this pg, poss because I've had a successful pg already, partly because I'm busier and not thinking about it as much...

Disenchanted · 24/04/2008 10:00

I dont!!

I said ... Ill open a thread thats got nothing to do with MC...

So I dont know its going to be there!

artichokes · 24/04/2008 10:04

Morning

Welcome to Monkeydrops and Annagt .

Disenchanted - I know how you feel. It seems alot of friend in RL have recently had m/cs and I can't escape from conversations about them. I have told so many people this time and yet I have no proof that this is a viable pregnancy. Uber scary.

My sickness is a little better today. I still feel nauseated but I am better able to cope and less inclined to cry. You never know, I might actually get some work done!

MaeWest · 24/04/2008 10:06

Disenchanted - I do know what you mean about this first 12 weeks, seems to really drag. I have no reason to believe that I will have any probs with this pg, but I won't really relax until I see that wriggly blob on the screen.

Annagt - please don't worry about what you've eaten/drunk etc so far. It's what you do from now on that matters One of my best friends had a wild night out a few days before finding out she was pg, and her DD is absolutely fine and a lively toddler now.

I know it's easy to say don't worry and ignore any scary stories but much harder to do! I'd be interested to compare the statistics of mumsnet members with fertility/recurrent MC problems versus the general population though - I've e feeling the former would be higher. My first scan with DS was so stressful, I'd got worked up about the possibility of a missed miscarriage and held my breath until I saw a moving blob!

minster · 24/04/2008 12:06

tbh I don't think it's a matter of more people on mn having msicarriages/fertility problems, just that people can talk about it here. There is incredible stigma attached to pregnancy loss & infertility - it isn't exactly a subject for school gate gossip.

Both are extremely common, I only know of one woman (in my circle of friends, most of them have 3+ children) who hasn't had a miscarriage

twinkle183 · 24/04/2008 12:10

Morning ladies

Hope everyone is feeling well!!

EffiePerine I know how you are feeling just before I had dd I lost twins at 11 weeks and when I found out I was pregnant with dd - I was convinced I was going to loose her but didn't - at one point I had to result in wearing black knickers to stop checking for any speck of blood . But your be fine...

Am feeling really nackered at the mo and need a little nap in the afternoon.

JollyBear · 24/04/2008 12:35

disenchanted > It is really hard not to worry and fear the worst all the time. I am just trying to keep positive by thinking that although m/c are common, statistically we are more likely to have a baby in December than have a m/c. I find that really comforting .

mibbes The book I bought is called 'Your Pregnancy Bible'. Do you have that one?

DH and I haven't told anyone else yet and although we want to tell both sets of parents, we thought it might be best to wait a bit longer. I'm worried they are going to be offended we didn't tell them all sooner. Does anyone else waiting to tell worry about that?

BeckyBendyLegs · 24/04/2008 13:09

Hello everybody! I feel sick. I've just eaten lunch and I felt sick before and I feel sick now. All I want to eat is cucumber and grapes. Blaaaaa.

For anyone expecting a Christmas Day baby, there are good sides to being born on Christmas day - I was a Christmas Day baby and I love it (still). No-one ever forgets your birthday and people eve go out of their way to make sure you don't feel left out, you get tonnes of presents, and I've never had to cook a Christmas dinner yet.

Verso · 24/04/2008 13:18

Turniphead - it was an external scan as I was 7 weeks. I think before that they do an internal although it depends on the hospital (With DD I had an internal at 8weeks because I'd had bleeding.)

Disenchanted · 24/04/2008 13:24

Pics of HUGE belly on profile now!!

I honestly wasn't like this a week ago!

Indith · 24/04/2008 13:38

Nice belly Dis!

Wake me when the blooming begins there's a dear.

artichokes · 24/04/2008 13:47

Wow, Disenchanted that is an amzing bump for 6 weeks . Did you show early with your others? I am hoping to be able to hide my pregnancy at work until 20 weeks. With DD i was quite big by 20 weeks so I guess my chances aren't great.

BeckyBendyLegs · 24/04/2008 13:48

Oh to have a nap right now! Lovely. Zzzzz.

MrsMattie · 24/04/2008 13:55

Hi all. Haven't had time to catch up with this new thread, but hope you're all well. Disenchanted - twins, surely?
