I thought I'd better start another thread as the other one was full to bursting!

good luck for tomorrow Verso and Nandos.

Msdynamo ignore the shop assistant. In that 'What to Expect when you're expecting book' it says that looking bloated early on is to with 'bowel distention' a lot of the time!

Welcome Inspectorgadget-I think most people worry-it is hard not to.

I also feel worse late afternoon.

Mibbes hope you friends are pleased for you despite their decision not to have kids themselves.
Snowwombat I am glad everything was fine with your scan. I am very jealous that you managed to get a scan so quickly.

Whoever mentioned Professor Nicolaides, I agree he is quite a character. I saw him at Kings with the pregnancy that went horribly wrong (he works at the Harris Birthright as well as the Harley Street Practice) and at first he was very jokey despite the grave circumstances. It was he who said to me 'You will have more children but not this child' and then said I should have a termination the next day. I really appreciated his frankness in the middle of a really terrible time when it is hard to listen to what anybody is telling you.

mibbes · 01/05/2008 22:00

verso wishing you loads of luck for tomorrow and here are some {{{big hugs}}}
hatty love your idea of playing at Doctors with DD's, genius!
snowwombat glad all turned out well after a stressful start to the week.

msdynamo · 01/05/2008 22:31

kayzisexpecting you are so knowledgeable you could have your own website! I've yet to think of a question you don't know the answer to, amazing!

mibbes I pity you re your friends. I was forced to break the news to a female friend who couldn't accept I didn't want a glass of wine. She was so cool and offhand in her response that I wish I hadn't mentioned it.

Also another friend, my best friend, has gone into a weird depression and has been avoiding me ever since I told her.

It's so difficult. I've tried not to tell people, but the few ones I have I almost wish I hadn't!

I am having a viability scan tomorrow for piece of mind but now am a bit nervous.

kayzisexpecting · 02/05/2008 06:19

Morning.

msdynamo I'm not that knowledgeable. I'm sure you'll find a question soon I dont know. I look most of them up in my pregnancy book. I think because I have done it before with DS I know a bit.
I hope your scans goes well verso and msdynamo!

I've decided not to have a private scan. Its only about 5 weeks until the dating scan so I am going to wait it out.

Verso · 02/05/2008 07:41

Thanks, everyone, for your kind wishes. I've been up since very early. It seems surreal now that the day is actually here. Will let you know how I get on (appointment is at 10am).

kayzisexpecting · 02/05/2008 07:52

Morning Verso, I hope everything goes well.

I have to go to the dentist today. I hate the dentist. I am really struggling to do my teeth in the morning as it makes me feel very sick so I am hoping they can suggest something to help me.

msdynamo · 02/05/2008 08:05

Hi Kayz, I went to the dentist yesterday, it was pretty depressing as I have some serious gum problems and need lots of treatment. He said worst case scenario I could lose a front tooth. Imagine being a toothless mum! Yikes! I only wish I'd dealt with it earlier. Now it's tricky. I told him I didn't want any xrays.

I don't suppose you know anything about the safety of xrays or local anaesthetic?

He also wants me to use a mouthwash called Cordisol. I'm sure I read that this is not safe.

It's a minefield out there!

kayzisexpecting · 02/05/2008 08:12

I think Cordisol is safe, I have to use it sometimes because I have gum problems too. If you ask your pharmacist they'll be able to tell you.
I'll warn you though its bloody disgusting. Tastes bloody horrible.

I don't think you should have X-rays but I'm not sure. You can have local anaesthetic as long as you tell your dentist you are pregnant. Thats what my book says. I am so glad I have my book. I dont know what I would do without it some days.

MrsMattie · 02/05/2008 08:13

Morning all. just sticking my head in to say hi. Off to my booking in appointment at hospital this morning.

Verso - wishing you all the luck in the world for today xxxx

EffiePerine · 02/05/2008 08:30

I habve another question for Kayz's book! Have been having some cramps and am pretty sure I got them last time as well but can't remember when. Something about the uterus stretching? Period type cramps and quite low down, not painful and no bleeding or anything...

kayzisexpecting · 02/05/2008 08:35

It says cramps occur during the first trimester.

Everyone should buy 'Pregnancy for Dummies' its a great book and there are some funny old wives tales at the back too.

BeckyBendyLegs · 02/05/2008 08:37

Hello! I hope everyones scans and dentist appointments go well today. Good luck!!!!

They say you lose a tooth for each baby! I've used Cordisol in the past - tastes vial but it is good stuff.

Well better go, off to do the preschool run and then need to do some house hunting on the internet.

EffiePerine · 02/05/2008 08:42

Thanks

I had Miriam Stoppard's book last time but got VERY irritated with it. I thought the rough guide to babies was good, no idea what the pg one is like. I don't need one of those week by week thingies, just a general reminder of what's going on! And here was me thinking I'd remember it all from last time

rosmerta · 02/05/2008 09:54

Just popping in quickly,

mrsdynamo I went to the dentist the other day, told him about the pregnancy and he said he wouldn't do any xrays until after the baby is born. It might be worth mentioning just in case?

verso, good luck for today [hugs]

Sorry, have to dash off but will catch up with everyone later

artichokes · 02/05/2008 10:02

Morning

Verso you should be going into your scan appointment now. I hope it all goes well and you get to see a lovely, healthy baby. Am thinking of you.

MissMattie good luck with your booking appointment. Do you get a scan at the same time?

Mibbles I found some childless friends reacted pretty oddly when I announced my pregnancy with DD. To be honest my friendships have changed alot since becoming a Mum, other than my two oldest childhood friends who don't have kids I have mainly made new friends with babies and it is them I hang out with. Having a baby is actually a great oppurtunity to meet new people. Are you going to do NCT classes? I am still great friends with the Mum's from NCT.

Well I don't work Fridays so am home with DD. Its sooooo much harder to look after DD when I feel sick than it is to go to work . I am relying heavily on CBeebies... Later I wll take her to see some friends so she does not get bored, but the thought of leaving the sofa fills me with horror. Is anyone else getting really behind on housework? My house is normally quite clean and tidy but it is horrible right now. I just don't have the energy. Its ironic as usually I am out all the time, now I am home lots and the house is an uninviting as it could be.

xx

rosmerta · 02/05/2008 10:39

artichokes, know how you feel re housework. Ds is in nursery this morning & so far I've managed to put one load of washing on . Just don't have the energy for anything else!

EffiePerine · 02/05/2008 10:46

Artichokes: I'm with you on getting a rest at work! Was lying on the sofa Weds feeling tired and awful, DS refusing to nap, raining so we couldn't go out... was longing for my nice office chair and cup of tea

chinchi · 02/05/2008 10:51

Was worrying about my lack of symptoms, although I threw up like a good 'un just as the taxi came for me this morning! Ive been eating fruit by the bag load too!

Verso so pleased for you. I am feeling on top of the world too as just had a scan and there is a heartbeat! They think I'm about 7/8 weeks and have a dating scan booked for two weeks time. There does look to be some bleeding, which they think is probably due to a twin pregnancy, with one twin miscarrying although can't be sure. I should be sad about that but actually I am just so releived that there is one little healthy bean.
Booking in appointment in ten minutes, it's all go...!

EffiePerine · 02/05/2008 11:34

Great news on the scan Katie

chinchi · 02/05/2008 11:40

Great stuff Katie!
