I thought I'd better start another thread as the other one was full to bursting!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Disenchanted · 28/04/2008 18:25

Ive just got my pregnancy notes!!

It seems sooooo real now!!

Verso · 28/04/2008 18:46

ooh, disenchanted! You're all official now!

Rich Tea - yuk at the best of times
Rich Tea, butter and M/S - aaaaaaargggghhhhh

BUT

Digestives and butter - with a little smidgen of cheese? Now we might be on to something...

Only thing is I'm starting out mahoosive so I suppose I should be watching what I eat. If I hadn't got pg this cycle I was going to take some time out to get into serious exercise and diet for a bit... oh well. I daresay there will be time enough eventually!

I used all kinds of lotions and potions with DD and still ended up with loads of stretch marks on my tummy btw.

Trying to hide said tummy at work at the moment is proving challenging... I bet people have guessed. I had a celebratory lunch for one of my staff on Friday reaching 10 years and was so grateful my Director had booked me in for a meeting mid-afternoon so I had an excuse not to drink. My colleagues were all "oh, that's SUCH a shame etc etc" - then my boss cancelled later on and they were going "ooh! you could have had a drink!!!"

Not sure who posted that they miss wine - but I find even the thought of it (or beer) just makes me feel ill. I'm also off coffee. Can anyone suggest any other brands of decaff tea? I'm a Tetley girl at heart - still have it at breakfast time - but their decaff bags are pants, as are PG Tips. I find they smell faintly of compost...

majormoo · 28/04/2008 19:05

oh digestives with butter. reminds me of being young!

Verso lucky you going off wine. I really miss it.

Re stretch marks I have used the posh stuff from Clarins with DD which people bought me as a birthday present and then cheap stuff from Boots with DS to moisturize. Both worked which I am surprised about as I already had stretch marks on my legs from puberty but somehow escaped them in pregnancy.

First midwife appointment tomorrow. I only called today and was told I should already have seen her at 7weeks. Whoops as I am 8 weeks already. You cannot win-my sister went to her GP at 5 weeks and was sent packing!

Did you see the thing on BBC news about how pregnancy cravings are increasing? I would love to get some whacky craving but have never had one!

Welcome Okay and anyone else who has just joined. Have not had time yet to read all the posts

majormoo · 28/04/2008 19:09

also just saw the bit about winter babies. It will be really good for the school year. My DD is in reception and is an August birthday. I think it is quite hard on them so much better to be an autumn/winter birthday. For example in DD's school, spring and summer borns were only doing half days for the first term, so the 8 winter born children had the teacher all to themselves every afternoon.

BeckyBendyLegs · 28/04/2008 19:36

Ooooh digestives and cheese is the best, especially crumbly mature Cheddar. Lovely.

So how many of you are craving coal, match sticks, icecubes, or sponges then? I think that is just too bizarre for words.

southernbelle77 · 28/04/2008 19:51

digestives and cheese! Now that sounds delicious! ummmm, trip to the shops is in order me thinks!

nandos · 28/04/2008 20:09

Hi everyone
I just bought a fetal doppler from ebay! yayyy .. well my hubby paid for it
couldnt wait for the appt cos' we called the nhs today and apparently they couldnt find my name! then they called back saying they will book for an appt soon since im 9+3 wks now and am absolutely worried with no symptoms at all
anywayz making porridge today cos' too tired to make anything else ..

take care all

EffiePerine · 28/04/2008 20:14

Stretch marks: I used Avent body oil spray stuff and Lush therapy massage bar (both smell nicely of lavender) and no stretch marks at all - suspect might be partly genetics but I'm not risking it so same routine this time! The solid bars are great because they last for AGES and the spray oil really easy to apply (even when you're the size of an elephant)

LittlePeanut · 28/04/2008 20:18

Bisou - bless you for asking about everyone else in your mega post on Sunday! What a thoughtful gal you must be!

My bleeding has completely stopped, thank you. It lasted about a week on and off - never very heavy, and no pain, but enough to unsettle me. I think it must have been implantation - apparently this can go on until week 7?

Anyway, I am 7 weeks today, and feeling very pregnant: nausea, tiredness, indigestion. I booked my appointment with the GP for Thursday, and feel very excited about that!

Glad all is well with you (well, apart from the sickness...!)

msdynamo · 28/04/2008 23:36

Hi everyone,

When I first realised I was pg it was partly because I had a strong desire to suddenly eat cheddar, something I haven't bought in years. I then read somewhere that eating a small piece of cheddar can stop ms. I have it every day as a snack with a plain cracker and it really works for me (so far)

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 06:28

Good morning,

Bio Oil is really good for stretch marks, I did get them but its really good for getting rid of them afterwards. I do have some cocoa butter stuff from Boots and I think I am going to start using it everyday from now. It can't hurt to try.

msdynamo · 29/04/2008 06:54

Ladies, can I ask a personal question? Are you still having sex with your partners? I have but feel worried that it might be harmful in some way in thi first trimester. I know that's probably stupid. Any thoughts?

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 07:02

We are still having sex. Sex can't harm the baby in any trimester.

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 07:30

Urgh I have just been sick. I'm hoping its a one of as I feel awful!

okaythen · 29/04/2008 07:57

Morning!

Kayzisexpecting, much sympathy it's just horrid isn't it?! Even discussing food makes me feel pukey at the min. Wasn't so sick with ds but with dd I lived on Ready brek for weeks as it was the only thing I could face throwing up - no lumps! Am struggling to prepare food atm as even the smell is making me feel yuk.

On a stretch mark front, I hate to say it but would agree with all who have said there's really no avoiding if you're gonna get - sorry. Found Avent Moisturising creme for mums to be really nice esp in the later stages as it take the itch out too. A lot of folk I know swear by body shop shea butter stuff.

Gonna ring GP this morning and get the ball rolling on appts etc hopefully before the end of the week. Rang my slimming world leader yesterday and not gonna go back - a small ammount of remaining baby weight doesn't seem such a big deal just now given what's to come!

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 08:00

I didn't have it with DS so DH thinks I am having a girl. Those gender predictor things on the internet say I am having a girl too so maybe they will be right.

BeckyBendyLegs · 29/04/2008 09:21

Morning all! I've had a really dramatic night - taking DS1 to Casualty in an ambulance in the middle of the night as he had croup and asthma. So I am shattered today! He is still asleep, bless him.

Indith · 29/04/2008 09:33

Gosh Becky you poor thing! Get better soon minibendylegs and let your mummy catch up on some sleep!

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 09:45

Poor you and poor DS1. I hope he is feeling better soon. I hope you get some sleep.

Flumpybumpy · 29/04/2008 09:48

Do I need to bump over to the Nov thread???

I saw the GP yesterday and although my due date is actually 1st Dec I will have to have an elective section (already had 2 emergency's) so I will going in mid Nov.

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 09:55

You can be on both! Your Due date is still December!

hattyyellow · 29/04/2008 10:03

Becky poor little DS ! Is he okay now?

BeckyBendyLegs · 29/04/2008 10:20

Hi everyone, thanks for your good wishes DS1 is now awake and up and playing with his little brother. When I told him that he'd missed the start of preschool he got upset and said 'But I wanted to go mummy!'. He'll be ok after a day lazy day at home I think. I'm holding my eyes open with matchsticks at the moment but DH is 'working from home' today in case I need a nap.

JollyBear · 29/04/2008 11:01

Oh dear becky how upsetting. Glad he is feeling better. You make sure you have a nap this afternoon.

msdynamo I share your worry! Rationally I know it is not meant to do any harm but DH and I are both a bit concerned and it isn't conducive to a sexy mood .

flumpy You could always join both!

abby Great news about the scan and your consultant sounds much nicer than your GP.

mibbes So many books! I'll let you finish them all and let me know if I should splash out on any more. Thanks for the recommendation of the what to expect book hatty, thanks. It is good to know what others have found useful.

majormoo I thought it would be inevitable I'd get stretchmarks because I got them during puberty. You have given me hope .

The nausea is worse today. It seems to come in waves. White toast is helping at the moment. abby could you not sneak into the storeroom and have a nibble on a digestive (with or without butter or cheese!) whilst the class are working?
