I thought I'd better start another thread as the other one was full to bursting!

I had sickness for a few days but yesterday and today i feel fine!

I was actuly heaving when i had it!

Hopefully thats my lot! lol

I panicked a bit because id had no sickness and so did a pregnancy test agin theis morning (i get them free so Im not wasting money! lol)

The test line was actully darker than the control so that made me feel betetr!

mibbes · 28/04/2008 12:05

mummy2olivia I also had regular AF cramps until week7 then had a few random ones last week too - on week9 now and haven't had any for a few days. They are a worry but just bean settling in, I was worried when they stopped too - worry when they happen and worry when they stop - it is just one big worry ! Oh and I have had very few symtpoms too - tired in the evenings sometimes, have felt a tiny bit nauseous when hungry a few times and have swollen, heavy boobs. No major or consistent symtpoms, just trying to be grateful and not let it worry me.
Bras - I got a pack of 2 maternity bras from M&S for £20 (I had expected them to cost a fortune !) and went up a back size and cup size, cup is a wee bit big but I'm sure I'll grow into it soon ! I just grabbed the first one I saw as DP doesn't like hanging around the bras for long !
rosmerta good luck with presentation.

jenduck · 28/04/2008 13:14

Hi again & thanks for all the welcomes. Sorry it has taken so long to reply, am just back from a weekend with the in-laws! Although I am not experiencing any real sickness or sicky feeling yet (touches wood!), I feel so tired all the time. I spent most of yesterday asleep! Is this normal??

kayzisexpecting · 28/04/2008 13:15

Totally of topic but did anyone see Britain's Got Talent? This was brilliant!

BeckyBendyLegs · 28/04/2008 14:01

I went to our local Toddlers group this morning with DS2 and we haven't had one for ages as they don't hold them during school holidays and EVERYONE is pregnant, almost. It's weird. Is there something in the water? I actually found this when I was pregnant with DS2 - they fell pregnant like dominoes. I don't know whether it is catching or whether everyone feels broody at the same time...

I had a rough day yesterday, feeling sick all day, but feel a bit better today.

I miss chocolate. I've gone right off it but I like the idea of it. Same with a nice glass of red wine (the thought makes me recoil but I miss the idea of it).

IceCube · 28/04/2008 14:13

Jenduck - I'm with you on the sleeping thing, Sunday was a write off. Only trouble being I kept having nightmares, was actually releived when DH woke me up to tell me it was time to go to the inlaws.

BBLegs - I know what you mean about the chocolate, normally my main treat and I had been worrying about getting too much caffine but I just haven't wanted any for a couple of weeks now.

kayzisexpecting · 28/04/2008 14:20

I have really gone off Coca Cola. I think it might be the caffiene as I can't really drink coffee anymore either. But still like chocolate. Werther's Orginals are helping for when I feel sick.

MaeWest · 28/04/2008 14:25

Midwife appts seem a v long way off (I'm 6+1), haven't even phoned them yet.

Clothes-wise I'm hoping I can make it through the summer with my old 'fat' clothes. I'm about a size 12 now (apart from my bosom), but pre-DS was more often a 16. I have some maternity trousers and a skirt that will do for work when I get bigger in the Autumn.

Effie think you asked about bf? DS has one feed first thing and sometimes one in the early hours. I was thinking of weaning him completely but have decided to see how things go for the moment. It feels a bit ouchy when he first latches on, but then calms down. If it's really painful I say 'can we try that again' and he will usually come off and re-latch.

BeckyBendyLegs · 28/04/2008 14:49

I rang my midwives after seeing my GP but they told me 'you are too early, ring back when you've got a date for your dating scan and we'll see you after that'. I felt a bit disappointed. Seeing the midwives for the first time at least makes it real!

I like the idea of a nice cold glass of coke but not sure whether I want to find out what the reality would be like.

Mint humbugs and grapes keep the nausea at bay for me.

kayzisexpecting · 28/04/2008 14:52

I have had my MW appointment. My gp made it for when I was 5 and half weeks. Neither the MW or myself know why. But here you have to see the MW before your scan as she organises it.

jenduck · 28/04/2008 15:07

I'm glad it's not just me, IceCube! Hope it passes soon!

I see a lot of you are off caffeine, or concerned about having too much. I have found that Tetley or Typhoo decaf tea is really nice, after one initial day of headaches as you come off the caffeine. It tastes just like the real thing! I do miss an occasional glass of wine though!

I have already had my booking in appointment, & have received a scan date of 2nd June. Seems ages away yet, & I am dreading the thought of drinking 1.5 pints of water an hour beforehand!

okaythen · 28/04/2008 15:27

Have just got a bfp so thought I'd say hi! Officially I'm due about the 2nd January but having had 2 previous sections, it's more than likely I'm facing a third and as such baby would arrive 19th ish dec. This will be baby number 3 for us, my dd is 2.7 and my ds is 10 months old. Bit scarey as ds will be just shy of 18 months old when this next one arrives and still feels so much like a baby himself. Still bf ds and hope this won't mean he weans off early. Feeling very sick already which seems to be par for the course for me.

Had just joined slimming world to start shifting the last of my baby weight but I think as of today I'll be saying to heck with that! A little shell-shocked to be honest as it usually takes us a good four months before anything happens and I naively thought it would be the same this time too. Anyways I'm rambling so I'll shoot off but looking fwd to chatting.

JollyBear · 28/04/2008 16:15

Hello all,

okay hello and congrats on the BFP.

I am off chocolate too! Very unlike me . According to a story on the BBC website, chocolate is the number one pregnancy craving so there is still time for that to kick in!

The nausea is a bit worse today. Nothing like some of you ladies are having though, you poor things.

mibbes Can you recommend any other books or do they say much the same thing?!

kayzisexpecting · 28/04/2008 16:23

Oh Turnip! I used to have that when I was a kid but I'd put sugar on the butter when my mum wasn't looking.

BeckyBendyLegs · 28/04/2008 17:20

Humus on toast is my mid-afternoon snack of the moment. And before tea when I feel I need a boost a huge lump of cheese from the fridge does the trick for me.

Rich tea with sugar and butter sounds really yummy!

I don't get the chocolate craving thing at all. I've gone off the stuff totally with all my pregnancies.

mibbes · 28/04/2008 17:21

mmm I used to eat digestives with butter when I was little..yum ! Haven't had any craving for strange foods yet, just the things I liked already !
Jollybear I also have 'PG week by week' which is pretty much the same as the Bible one. I have also read Myleene Klass' PG diary which was interesting and Jamie Oliver wife's PG diary, also interesting to read about other women's experiences. Am in the middle of Alison Craig's PG book which is really funny but brutally honest and also have Mel Gedwroiyc's to read ! Have a PG recipe book which isn't particularly inspiring and a PG exercise book which is very dry and dull. I went on a mad amazon spree when I got BFP !
Anyone started using stretchmark cream/oil ? I have read that you should start applying it straight away.. anyone have any tips as to which is best ?

mibbes · 28/04/2008 17:23

I'm using boiled sweets and raw carrots to keep me going when really hungry as start to feel queasy. Not together !

hattyyellow · 28/04/2008 17:35

I just can't work out what I feel like eating - nothing really appeals! Think I might hurl if I tried biscuits with butter on!

Mibbes my consultant told me that creams don't make any difference to stretch marks -that it was really due to your skin type the body shop coconut body butter anyway just in case!

JB have you looked at "what to expect when you're expecting"? I found that really useful, as well as "what to expect the first year" after the birth.

hattyyellow · 28/04/2008 17:36

sorry brain gone - should say your skin type. I used the body shop!

abbymeg · 28/04/2008 17:39

Hello everyone

I went to the consultant today who cannot tell me what impact a general anesthetic would have on pg, although she acknowledges a risk. She was lovely, reassuring me they would look after me, and I'm having a scan a week on Friday (will be 7+1) to check things are okay.

On the downside, am feeling rough. I haven't been sick, but I'm fighting the nausea all of the time. Today I can only eat white toast and ice cream. I couldn't even drink the peppermint tea.

Anyway, I'm a bit worried because I'm back at work on Wednesday and I wondered whether anyone has tips for coping with the nausea? I'm a teacher so technically I'm not allowed to eat during lessons which is going to make things very interesting. Are there any drinks that might help?

katie3677 · 28/04/2008 17:39

Today has been the worst so far for feeling ill. Had to keep DS at home today as DH's car had a flat battery this morning so lent him mine to get to work, but then had no way of getting DS to nursery. I was supposed to be working, but managed one 10 minute phone call before giving up! Still haven't actually been sick but tbh that would be a relief from the nausea. Having real problems with what to eat, as everyone else seems to be. Really don't feel like anything and when I do decide on something that doesn't make me gag, by the time I've cooked/ prepared it I've totlly gone off it! I had no ms at all with DS, so am finding this really horrendous, how long does it usually go on for?
Also feeling really huge and having some very wierd pains in lower abdomen. In turns both dreading and can't wait for scan on Friday.

katie3677 · 28/04/2008 17:41

Abbeymeg, I've always been told that ginger is great for nausea, I can't stand the stuff so haven't tried it, but perhaps you could replace the peppermint tea with ginger infused tea?

hattyyellow · 28/04/2008 17:50

Abbey I'd second any drink with ginger in - are you allowed to take drinks into class? Twinings Ginger and Lemon tea is great and you can get lovely ginger cordials as well..

I also used to drink lots of hot squash last pregnancy - it stopped me drinking tea all day whilst still feeling like a hot drink, and the sweetness helped with sickness.

That's brilliant that your consultant has been reassuring and that you'll get an early scan.

Indith · 28/04/2008 18:07

God you lot are chatty

Christmas, ds was due 27th Dec, we hosted Christmas! It was great I did nothing! Just sat my huge pg arse down and let the rest of them work. Not sure this time with an edd of Dec 24th!

Clothes, am living in pjs at home and putting up with jeans being too tight out. Tried on the pair of one size too big jeans I got post ds and they are still far too big. Must remember to shave legs and wear comfy skirts instead.

Mints, cordial, haribo, grapes, anything to munch so there is always something in my tummy. Though at the moment it seems to be force self to eat breakfast, force self to eat lunch, feeling sick the whole time then come 3/4pm starving! At 2 blocks of noodles coated in soy sauce at 4 and am famished already.

Still not even asked at surgery about appointments. I failed miserable to be a panicky first time mum, I shall be a lost cause with this one. "baby? oh yes I have one of those, erm I think its on the rug"

Stretch marks, tis true it depends on your skin, nothing will change it. Saying that there is nothing wrong with keeping it moisturised as it will help with the itchy feeling when it stretches over your bump so tis a good idea to start early. But don't waste money just get a big bottle of something fairly inexpensive I got none on my belly last time but loads on my norks.
