I thought I'd better start another thread as the other one was full to bursting!

abbymeg so glad consultant was helpful - toast and ice-cream together ?
disenchanted ooh you are first to get your notes - how exciting !
Ladies - thanks for stretchmark cream advice. I suspect that I'll get them as had some during puberty on boobs (although you have given me reason to hope majormoo). Am a bit of a lotion and potion fiend at the best of times so have been slathering my tum and boobs in clarins oil at night and decleor cream in the mornings ! Even if it doesn't work at least I smell yummy ! Thanks for the links EffiePerine I can feel another PG spending splurge coming on - I should really try to get used to be skint for mat leave... hmmm nah plenty of time for that !
LittlePeanut am so glad things have settled down for you.
Oh dear you poor ladies with sickness - I am fine and can eat anything, maybe better I couldn't though... have to keep reminding myself that I don't actually have to eat for two....
How awful BeckyBendyLegs - hope you are both resting now.
msdynamo we have 'gently' done it a few times but not very often, like JB says we are both a bit apprehensive - poor DP, there was a feast and now a famine...

EffiePerine · 29/04/2008 13:31

March: I think I'm due the same time and apart from feeling a bit sick no symptoms.

Becky: hope your DS is OK now. We had a couple of hospital runs the other week: it is terrifying. I found the hock kicked in a few days later, so look after yourself and take your DH up on the offer of a nap

Who mentioend sex during pg? Think it's fine as long as you're not bleeding or anything. I was keener on the idea last time round (again thinking this might be Sign of a Girl).

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 13:46

I have got my notes too got them 2 weeks ago now. God it only seems a few days ago I had my MW appt. Hopefully the rest of the pregnancy will go this quick. I am a bit peeved that my notes says planned on the front though. My ones with DS don't. It shouldn't matter really.

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 14:34

Is anyone else starving? Nothing I eat is seeming to fill me up at all.

rosmerta · 29/04/2008 16:47

hi all, I'm find it really hard to keep up with everything. Tiredness seems to have kicked back in so am back to napping when ds does!

Hope everyone's ok & will try and see what you've all been up to later.

artichokes · 29/04/2008 17:34

I haven't really felt sick all day. This is what I have hoped for and dreamed of. Instead of being happy I am sooo scared. What if it is a bad sign??? What if those post-sex cramps hurt the baby??? . Last time I did not have a day of respite from the sickness until 17 weeks. I am very happy if I have avoided that this time but I just want to know the baby is OK.

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 17:39

Sex can not hurt the baby. It can't. Those cramps are perfectly normal. I'm sure you are fine. You could ring your EPU.

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 18:00

My blooming Pregnancy book has somehow(I think DH has something to do with it) got shoved under the sofa and I can't reach it. So I asked DH to get it and then started to cry when he said "Just a minute" bloody pregnancy hormones!!

BeckyBendyLegs · 29/04/2008 18:04

I feel too yucky in the evening to do anything beyond cuddle a cushion in front of Lost or Brothers and Sisters.

I struggled cooking my two DSs their tea tonight. It's the smell of butter and onions cooking - oh my.

I've had a strange day. I'm on a bit of a tiredness and emotional high after last night and have felt it hard not to cry at the slightest thing. But there you go. If only I could have a huge glass of red wine with my tea tonight but yuck, yuck, yuck the thought. It'll have to be a huge glass of milk instead!

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 18:06

Artichokes

My pregnancy book says:

There is no reason to stop having sex unless you are at risk of preterm labour and thats only for after 32 weeks. The biggest problem is finding comfortable positions the further on you get.

It also says that some women experience cramps after having sex which is due to increased blood flow.

MrsMattie · 29/04/2008 18:10

I typed a long post earlier on and for some reason, it's vanished

Anyway...

Becky, I do hope your little one is a bit better now. That must have been really frightening for you all

This thread moves so quickly I feel like I can't keep up with most of you, so apologies if I seem rude!

I'm better than I have been - the last 3 days have been much better, actually. Got my booking in appointment at the hospital on Friday, and my 12 week scan is on 27th May (I'll be 13 + 4). DH has booked the afternoon off work for it. Nervous but excited! I know I've said it loads, but I just want to get the first trimester over and done with...

Glad you are ok Turnip. Sorry there was only the one but I'm so happy everything was good.

nandos · 29/04/2008 18:57

kayz, i do experience cramps (most of the time) after sx and its very uncomfortable..like having stomach ache.

btw got my blood test date which is on the 16th may and scan on 21st may(am gonna be 13 weeks by then) i guess i have to tell everyone before i get the scan otherwise friends n relatives might think why im hiding my pregnancy from them !

BeckyBendyLegs · 29/04/2008 19:17

Turnip that must have been quite a scary experience for you but glad you are ok. There does seem to be a few of us hanging around in A&E at the moment for various reasons!

I'm just impressed at how many of you despite feeling sicky and horrible, talking about throwing up, are getting down to some serious love action on a regular basis! I just can't face it at the moment and I haven't even thrown up or anything. For me it is the utter knackeredness, if that is a word, that puts me off.

It feels ages and ages until I get my 12 week scan - waiting for the letter which should arrive with a date soon.

EffiePerine · 29/04/2008 19:22

Turnip: glad you're OK . Ovarian cyst sounds v painful - hope it goes away of its own accord.

It's weeks till my first appointment, let alone my scan! Should be some time in June which seems ages away. Will ring surgery in a few weeks to sort out booking appointment (10 weeks here unless it's changed in the last couple of years).

Day off today and have been frantically tidying and sorting - think the hormones have kicked in. Am not usually like this when not pg, so there's a lot to do

ChutneyMary · 29/04/2008 20:01

Hello all! Sorry for all the poor ladies / children who have been at hospital. Hope you are all ok now.

I went to lovely Kings this morning but only for a dating scan. I've moved back a week so now due 10th Dec. I apologised to the Obs who was doing the scan for eating sweets *(only thing which stops the sickness) and she offered to prescribe some drugs! I declined but good to know the offer is there.

HAve eaten so many sweets that I feel as though my teeth could crumble at any time. I had to chain eat extra strong mints yesterday to get through the day at work. Can't believe I've got a week more of this to do!

Huge respect to anyone contemplating a bonk. I could just as easily go to the moon as get jiggy. Was like this both times before and I have 2 girls so maybe the theory is true.

MaeWest · 29/04/2008 20:04

Hi all Hope those with sickness are keeping it at bay.

No puking from me here, but DS (21 months) has some horrible bug, had to pick him up from his CM this morning as he'd been sick 3 times, even throwing up water.

DH looked after him this afternoon as I had a work meeting, but since I got in at about 4.30 DS has been either bf, puking, or sleeping I think I'll keep him downstairs with me until I go to bed. Bit like having a 30lb newborn!

Sex - there has been a leetle action, but only if I lure DH away from his laptop From what I've read there's no reason to abstain unless you have been advised to (bleeding etc). Remember getting the most amazing Braxton Hicks after sex last time, DS used to go wild thrashing around too

majormoo · 29/04/2008 20:04

Turnip glad all was OK and lovely to hear see the baby and the heartbeat

Becky hope your DS is OK now.

I saw midwife today. Was really pleased as it is the same one I had with DS and she is lovely. The only problem is, because I had a very early miscarriage in March, I need a dating scan. The hospital cannot fit me in until 19th May, by which time I will be about 11 weeks. That does not leave me long to get my nuchal booked at Kings. She said it should be fine but am a bit worried I will not be able to get a scan. She said to call the hospital to ask them to call me if there is a cancellation, but they said that is very unlikely. Only other option I have is to fork out £100 for a private scan. The midwife said that is what she would do in my position but she is obviously richer than us! Oh what to do, what to do.

Verso · 29/04/2008 20:13

Majormoo that's frustrating, not getting your first scan until 11 weeks . Any chance your GP could get stroppy on your behalf and get them to book you in any sooner?

turniphead it must be a relief to know it's not an ectopic - but poor you having to put up with an ovarian cyst. I hope it 'goes away on its own' too - it's difficult when you're pg and can't do anything about a medical problem except wait... or have a paracetamol (which are useless).

Becky I'm glad your DS is ok. My DD had croup several times and it was really scary. It's a horrible sound, the barking cough.

Still feeling VERY sick here, though no vomiting thankfully. Glad I'm not the only one munching my way through loads of sweets!

mibbes · 29/04/2008 20:26

kayz sorry hun but LOL at you crying for your PG book !!
Yippee for a successful scan Turniphead, it must've been such a worry but at least you can relax a bit now - btw love the name !
majormoo that is a pity about nuchal scan - could you not get a cancellation dating scan ? Maybe you should've asked the lovely MW to lend you the money

EffiePerine · 29/04/2008 20:35

top tip of the day: Morrisons cheapo mint sweets - 99p for 400g

majormoo: do you need to book your nuchal separately? Last time I think it was all done at the 12 week scan, or is that the one you mean? I think it varies according to where you live though.

ChutneyMary · 29/04/2008 20:43

Majormoo - do you mean Kings in Denmark Hill? If so, and you can get there easily, just rock up to the Early Preg Unit and they can do it there. I went this morning (clutching a pink request form from the GP) and, despite 3 hour wait with only woman's weekly for company, got seen and sorted without an appointment. The Obs then gave me a letter telling GP to book me in and get the Harris Birthright centre to give me a scan date. Sorted.

Would this be an option for you too? You can self refer to EPU if you can't get a GP appointment. HTH.

kayzisexpecting · 29/04/2008 21:08

Its ok Mibbes I laughed to after he got it for me. I have been crying at various crap stuff since last week.

EffiePerine · 29/04/2008 21:11

I seem to be cross rather than upset - tore one off DH for daring to help me look for my lost chequebook
