Where is everyone? I've managed to actually get on here and there's no one to talk to!

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 22/04/2008 10:24

no baby yet- but in hospital

mw has told her she'll be unable to bf as she has flattish nipples

l bolleaux!

am going to mail her info if anyone has any good links

And see a bfc as soon as she can escape from loony midwife...

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 22/04/2008 10:38

fab PAL

fancy upsetting someone in early labour! Prat MW!

northeastmummy · 22/04/2008 10:40

I CAN'T BELIEVE THE MIDWIFE SAID THAT!!! What is she thinking???

Good luck Ellie ... good luck Ellie ... it seems to be going really smoothly so far so I hope that continues.

Is it normal to get really hungry just before the baby comes? I can't stop eating. Maybe that's a bad sign.

Scorpio - Millie's so sweet. I love the one with the dummy .

Carey87 · 22/04/2008 10:40

But I thought even if you had flattish nips breastfeeding was still possible, a bit harder granteed, but still possible?

Cx

PortAndLemon · 22/04/2008 10:44

Of course it is. Flat nipples actually very common, and espcially in first-time mothers. You need a bit of extra support and advice in the early days/weeks but normally the nipple becomes more elastic with... errr... use and there's no long-term issue.

PortAndLemon · 22/04/2008 10:46

Translation of what midwife said is really "you have flat nipples and [charitable view] I don't have the knowledge and training / [less charitable view] I can't be arsed to give you any extra breastfeeding support"

christmaspixie · 22/04/2008 10:47

Hello North East Mummy (waves!!)...still waiting too then? I'm ravenous too, I can't stop eating. Think this baby is gonna be 10lb by the time she arrives!!

Gorgeous Scorpio!!

What utter nonsense about BF, my friend had totally inverted nipples and used nipple shells to feed with at the start. Eventually BF made them stick out and she BF normally for over a year!! SOme of these MW, I do wonder where they get this stuff from

chipmonkey · 22/04/2008 10:58

My dsis had flat nipples and a prem baby and still managed to bf for six months! You just need the right help at the right time!

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 22/04/2008 11:00

Soph had her lo by VBAC this morning.

Sam and Mum doing well, Sam has Downs Syndrome but she sounds upbeat and positive.

A child with a disability is ahrd work, but also a blessing- teaches you the real meaning of love, and shows you the real power of what a Mum and dad can do.

Congrats Soph X

chipmonkey · 22/04/2008 11:02

BTW, scorpio, Millie is beautiful!
And best of luck, Ellie!

PortAndLemon · 22/04/2008 11:03

Congratulations Soph! Let us see pictures when you can...

northeastmummy · 22/04/2008 11:09

Thanks for the update from Soph Peachy. Did she know about the Downs Syndrome? Your words are very touching. I have no experience but really believe in what you say.

There's a little girl on This Morning just now who has been suffering with extremely severe eczema pretty much since she was born and her life has been transformed by a new treatment. It's incredible - she wasn't able to sleep before and now she's getting full nights of sleep for the first time in 13 years. It's an amazing story.

Hi there christmaspixie ... yes, still hanging in there. How are you getting on? I hadn't thought about LO piling on the pounds ... must try and resist the biscuits!!

KnitterInTheNW · 22/04/2008 11:15

Congratulations Soph!

chipmonkey · 22/04/2008 11:17

X posts, Peachy!
Soph, congratulations!! Sam is lovely name ( I'm sure Peachy agrees!)
The Down's Syndrome must have come as a bit of a shock but there are loads of Mums on MN with beautiful children with DS who would be able to chat to you, (Thomcat, eidsvold and geekgrrl, to name a few!)

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 22/04/2008 11:25

Tis a great name LOL and the only one other than Sebastian we've both agreed on (harold and Stirling both DH's choices)

Carey87 · 22/04/2008 11:31

Congrats Soph!

Talking of names, so far we have:

Oliver
George
Jamie

Isabella
Katie
Emma

Any thoughts? Or any other names taht anyone can sujjest are greatly appreciated.

DP really like George especially if lo is born tomorrow!

Cx

Carey87 · 22/04/2008 11:32

*suggest (blush)

chipmonkey · 22/04/2008 11:33

Ds4 is going to be Harry, we think! Although, ds1 was supposed to be Sam until he was born and then we decided he didn't look like a Sam! Ironically, now, he does look like my idea of a Sam so it would have been OK! he changed a lot in his first year![girn]

KnitterInTheNW · 22/04/2008 11:34

I am slightly biased towards George and Katie

chipmonkey · 22/04/2008 11:34

Carey, of your list, I like Jamie and Emma. Is tomorrow St Georges day? [thick Irish emoticon]

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 22/04/2008 11:35

Like all the boys name and the girls names are nive too- ds3 would have been a Katie. George obv great as Sebastian has it as a middle name LOL (as does Dh, was the name of FIL's adoptive father).

KnitterInTheNW · 22/04/2008 11:35

(I've always loved being a Katie)
