VS - what a nightmare - have another beer (guiness will help from a medical perspective anyway )

my poo-all-over-soft-play-centre-epic seems like a minor blip in comparison to your afternoon

wow! we've just had the most blinding flash of lightening and enormous clap of thunder - jumped out of my skin! (but didn't of course trigger labour)

soph28 · 30/04/2008 16:57

Still I think all the thongs I have are at the bottom of my pants drawer and haven't seen the light since 2004 (pre-kids)

However, in a matter of weeks I will be on a fitness regime and becoming toned and slender [wishful thinking emoticon]

Mollyfloss · 30/04/2008 17:18

Hello Ladies!

I've been really busy with little Ailish so doubt I can catch up on the thread but I see that there are loads of new babies. Congrats to the new mums!!! and good luck to the ladies who still have their little buns in the ovens. It won't be long now.

Ailish is doing great. As some of you know I had issues with breastfeeding at the beginning but they are pretty much sorted now and I now longer have to express and Ailish feeds really well from the breast. I even had my first 'public breastfeed' today when we went to the embassy to get her passport.

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 30/04/2008 17:27

Chipmonkey had little Harry Samuel (weight 9lb 5oz) at 1.05 today, she sounds very much in love .

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 30/04/2008 17:28

( I have a Harry and a Samuel so love the name, but iif her next is called Stirling Sebastian I am yelling stalker LOL ).

bigbadmom · 30/04/2008 17:55

Hello everyone - esp. Moominsmummy I am also waiting for labour - seven days late now!

What's an EPO out of interest? And have you got a sweep booked or are you not keen on that? Not sure what your due date was..?!

VictorianSqualor · 30/04/2008 18:01

evening primrose oil, it's great for ripening the cervix, as we said earlier, take one-two orally and two vaginally each day, make sure they are the ones Without added vitamin A though, they should be vitamin E only.

shelleylou · 30/04/2008 18:12

Peaches are mum and baby both ok?

moominsmummy · 30/04/2008 18:16

congrats ChipM - good weight that!

BB Mom - I am seeing MW tomorrow so will get her to do a sweep but only if cervix is favourable (I think it's painful and pointless if not at all effaced or dilated and cervix difficult to reach). I will also be getting her to check out my perinium - I think I had a 3rd degree cut last time - but my notes aren't clear so would like to know if I did and what the likely impact is for this time - anyone else any experiences??

am fully expecting to be told that baby isn't any more engaged and that I show no signs of labour - so any progress will be good news.

Carey87 · 30/04/2008 18:25

moominsmummy · 30/04/2008 18:29

ooo - just realised that we are all overdue now! race you all to 42 weeks!!!

am assuming that some of the earlier people (e,g, siameez) have had babies and just not posted - would be a month overdue by now

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 30/04/2008 18:40

Congrats to all the new moms!

Yes we are all overdue now and I am last on the list!

Carey87 · 30/04/2008 19:13

mum2b - and i bet youll be the first out of all of us to have yours

scorpio1 · 30/04/2008 19:16

VS - that sounds like a fun afternoon I'm still bleeding a small amount,i had already finished by now with others, think maybe its becuase we have to do more with other children and have to be quite active that it starts up again iyswim? i can't wait to wear my thongs again! They do make pads that can take quite heavy flow for things. i bought lovely pants from dps could not bear wearing cotton multipack or disposables, lol!

Molly - glad feeding getting better for you

Congrats chipmonkey!!!!!!

EllieG · 30/04/2008 20:00

'Lo all - am typing one handed with Molly clamped to boob - am about to look at some of those sites having finally had enough time to catch up on the 3 million pages I missed!

Yey for chip and good luck soph!

VS - I know was horrid afternoon but you do make me laugh

All ok here - I couldn't do anything much for the first week apart from survive - was so overwhelmed that felt like I was drowning sometimes. So my sympathies to PFJ - it's harder than you think isn't it? Even using nipple sheilds my nips are so cracked and bleeding after initially having really crap latch. Luckily had really lovely community midwife to visit who helped me sort it, but am still using the shields as am too scared to try without! I know I should but can't bear to until have healed up a bit more. Have made contact with local bf counsellor and she will visit me to help if I want though.

Molly slept really badly for the first few nights but last night she had a feed at 7 - went to sleep, fed at 9.30, then 2.45 and 6, so was only up once in the night, which was fantastic. Am still so so tired, but starting to get my head round it. Hats off to you ladies who have voluntarily done this more than once!

Anyway, I shall stop banging on about me - hope you all are feeling good.

Ooooo molly's gone to sleep!

I told her today that if she didn't behave herself and sleep better I was going to call Gina Ford to come round and sort her out. That should do it.

Oh poo. She's woken up. I have had to resort to a dummy sometimes as she is SO sucky I would have no breasts left from the amount of comfort sucks she needs. My baby is such a chav.

scorpio1 · 30/04/2008 20:35

lol @ chavvy baby

when i had ds1 i felt like i had been run over by a train.

Woollymummy · 30/04/2008 20:41

I am bored with waiting and am only 40+2. Grrr. I had to wait around all day at the hospital because the midwife thought my really itchy skin was something serious, and they wanted to monitor the baby and do blood tests. All normal in the end. It would have been nice if they could find something which would get me induced sooner than May 11th. That is the date I have been provisionally told I will get if nothing has happened naturally by then. DP made nice chilli-rich dinner tonight and I am trying to swig lots of hot chocolate tainted with chilli-powder. Quite delicious. I will also try some more internal EPO capsules, not that they have had any effect so far. I am just bored of being big and heavy and I want to have my baby NOW!

7monthsplus · 30/04/2008 20:46

sorry peachy, dont mean to be taking over posting baby's born, just seem to be on here when people announce

Carey87 · 30/04/2008 20:58

(therefore come to conclusion that am on here far too much )

Elasticwoman · 30/04/2008 20:59

Woolly - take advantage of this breathing space by getting plenty of sleep, and feet up in the day. Be well rested when you have your baby. It's quite normal for a first baby (is it your first?) to be up to 2 weeks late. Enjoy your last few days of peace with dh.

Good luck.

ThePFJ · 30/04/2008 21:09

Good news. Me, DP and my mum tested NEGATIVE for MRSA. Which means we didnt give it to Jack. It entered through his belly button where the cord is healing via a hosp. staff member or the midwife that examined him at home. Infection control have set up a meeting with us tomorrow to get to the bottom of where the MRSA came from.

Jack looks so well today, apart from his very sore botty.. nappy rash made worse from the antibiotics. He doesnt look like an ill baby at all!!

Thanks for the minieggs Knitter!!!! YUMMERS!

hugs to you all

ThePFJ · 30/04/2008 21:25

Oh and sympathy Ellie. Chompy sucky chav babies all round!

hehe. -hands out minieggs-

xx

christmaspixie · 30/04/2008 21:41

Oh thank goodness PFJ, been thinking about you and Jack, but been too busy to catch up on MN....I still can't believe you've had to go through all this- truly awful!! SO happy he's a bit better x

I'd forgotten how you do feel just like you've been hit by a truck! I'm still rather weepy then euphoric, and all over the place. But it's only day 6.

Congrats to all the new babes!! x
