I totally burst out crying every day for no reason, and then sometimes feel really trapped now I am tied to a baby... but mostly I feel happy to be a mummy

VictorianSqualor · 30/04/2008 22:10

Congrats chipmonkey.

PFJ, ugh! I still get quite emotional, but only with silly things, so soemthing that might normally have made me sad makes me real sad, or I get really tired and moan at DP to do more (he's doing plenty though bless him) that's my normal emotional baby moments, if you're feeling that sort of thing, plus happy, I'm hoping (fingers crossed and bloody surprising after what you;ve been through"") that there is no PND, just the average emotions, but make sure you let someone know if it gets worsew, in your situation I'D have been a state with ym first (remember I OD'd and gave myself kidney failure at six months with DD that's why I'm so hot on tough times and PND). Oh and DP says sue, buy Jack his first porsche early

Ellie, glad to make you smile, it was a rough day but even I find it funny now!

Ayomi · 30/04/2008 22:35

Hello all and congrats to new mums!
I had a little girl Sunday evening weighing 6lb 1oz - delivered by ventouse after what I am told is a nice short labour of 7 hours
Sore, tired but very happy

ThePFJ · 30/04/2008 22:42

Well..VS tell your DP that we are definately looking into the legal side of things.. but need to get Jack all better first

CONGRATS Ayomi!! You must be so happy

Carey87 · 01/05/2008 06:01

Ive got my sweep today! Yay!!!! Ive never been so excited to go to the hospital! (and yes I do realise that it will probably hurt like hell but bring it on !)

Ayomi · 01/05/2008 08:05

Morning all. Just done a quick thread check...
PFJ - Poor you! Just read about Jack. Take care and lots of love your way.
Vs - to hear about your kittens.
Carey87 - good luck

Far too much other stuff going on (and sleep deprivation). Will try to catch up in detail later

moominsmummy · 01/05/2008 08:11

Happy sweep day to us!! (carey and me - and for tomorrow for Eva)

Sagitta went for a sweep yesterday and hasn't posted since........

Sheds75 · 01/05/2008 08:21

Morning all,

PFJ hope Jack is doing better.

question for all those experienced mums, Henry has really bad Colic and infacol doesn't seem to be working. HV has suggested Colief, has anyone used it? or are there any other suggestions for relieving the little mans discomfort??? thanks in advance

Sheds75 · 01/05/2008 08:22

Good luck to all the Sweeps today

ThePFJ · 01/05/2008 08:30

Sheds - Colief is supposed to be quite good.. other than that I'd tell granny how to suck eggs and suggest lots of gentle to bold patting on his back like we do when Jack is suffering. Lets see what the other experienced mummies say.

Carey - my sweep didn't hurt that much it was more like 'very uncomfortable'. Good luck with it. Enjoy your last hours of pregnancy. After this it will be all go!!! Time for a bump hug!! If you haven't been going to the loo much ask about enema's and if your feet are size 5 or less TELL THEM. Can't remember if this is your first baby or not. If not I'll shut up and offer you some of the minieggs Knitter sent me
Good luck! Am so excited for you

ThePFJ · 01/05/2008 08:31

Oh.. missed your post moomin!! Good luck to you too sweetie and I'll say the same to you and Eva. Plus Minieggs all round!!!

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 01/05/2008 09:11

Mornin'!

Bainmarie had her baby, a little boy named Gabriel, on Saturday.

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 01/05/2008 09:12

Colief is great, used it for older 3; also baby massage for colic is fabulous

ThePFJ · 01/05/2008 09:23

Yay! I had enough money for my rent.

eva07 · 01/05/2008 09:33

carey and moomins, I will be thinking of you all day, hope it works

pfj, all the best for little jack!! and thanks for the minieggs...

eva07 · 01/05/2008 09:41

I'm a bit homesick today. May 1st is a bank holiday in austria. in some areas brass bands go from house to house and play little tunes, they (we, I'm playing in a brass band) earn money with it and it's always great fun. lots of food and free beers and schnapps (bloody lips are part of it too, we play from 6 a.m. to approx. 4 p.m. quite exhausting, but who cares)
miss my mates

ThePFJ · 01/05/2008 09:43

hugs Eva!!!

More minieggs for you then.

moominsmummy · 01/05/2008 09:45

eva - ((hugs)) - if i get my trumpet out of the loft and play you a tune will it help? (I can only remember how to play christmas carols though )

sheds - can't remember if you are BF but if you are try cutting out cows milk from your diet - and see if LO settles down at all.

VictorianSqualor · 01/05/2008 09:52

Sheds, I second what Peachy says about baby massage, it's bloody great, see if your HV can recc someone to teach you it, but for now, on Henrys belly with a little olive oil rub it in a circle, clockwise, start softly getting harder, and go down his legs too, firmly, as if you are stretching them so you hold his leg in your hand and pull it out straight, whilst rubbing the oil in, don't worry about washing the oil off, it's actually the best thing for babys skin.

The rest of it is easier shown than told, but that little bit of massage should help him with his tummy.

sagitta · 01/05/2008 10:20

Morning all. Good luck with sweep, carey - I hope it goes well. Mine apparently did, and MW says it should kick off labour within 24 hours. Nothing yet though, despite sex as well. Am about to go for a long walk. Still don't feel ready for a baby, but I've got childcare tonight so today would be good!

So glad jack is better, PFJ and that you sound more cheery.

Sorry for bad days, MM and VS - what a nightmare.

I'll check in later.

moominsmummy · 01/05/2008 10:25

aw - sagitta - I was getting all excited then thinking you were in labour! enjoy your walk - I'm off to be the token "bump" at the bumps and babes coffee morning!

sagitta · 01/05/2008 10:26

VS - By the way, the MW told me yesterday that especially with second or more babies, the bleeding is likely to stop and start a few times - so keep wearing the pads. It is also likely to be heavier...

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 01/05/2008 10:46

Oooh - good luck Moomins, Carey and Eva!!!

Congrats to yet more new mommies!! Can't wait to be one myself - if my little cherub ever decides to enter this world!

PFJ - glad all is getting resolved and that something is being done and that Jack is on the mend. Poor you going through all this - my worst nightmare. BTW - you said to let them know if your feet are size 5 or under (mine are size 3!) - why?

Sagitta - here is hoping it all kicks off for you today!

Denny185 · 01/05/2008 11:00

Congratulations bainmarie

goodluck with all the sweeps today, fingers crossed to lots of success over the next couple of days.

Sheds couple of friends have found good relief with colief and able to get it on prescription as quite expensive. Third the baby massage, most places you can be taught via the HV's the tend to run classes where lots of mums go and see whos the first to be pee'd on. There are also lots of anticolic bottles on the market (? how effective they are), feed him as upright as possible, try and make sure his back is straight whilst winding (Im sure your already doing). The other thing is to look at the milk your using for Henry cow and gate do a brand called comfy or comfil along those lines that has less lactose in it (im sure other brands do it to).

PortAndLemon · 01/05/2008 11:03

I haven't used colief myself, but several of the women in my due date group with DS (on another board) swore by it.
