Alex ahs a quite big birth mark on his back, thankfully it's brown so obviously a birth mark, hate to think what assumptions people would've jumped to otherwise.
You sure you wont be at it next weekend Scorpio?
I do find it funny that on an antenatal thread we're already discussing sex within weeks of our babies being born, is this the horniest antenatal group ever or what?

scorpio1 · 24/04/2008 07:12

lol Vs i reckon so. i think we all talk about it every few days!!

I got about 7 hours sleep from 9-7 last night - she is the best.

PFJ - i wouldn't see her again, just attend lcinic occasinally to weigh Jack. you dont need this at the moment.

its so quiet here!

PortAndLemon · 24/04/2008 07:37

But I would definitely either officially complain or officially request a different HV. You want to have it on record that she's a mad old trout with a history of making unsubstantiatd allegations before something like this happens.

PortAndLemon · 24/04/2008 07:39

Sorry, linked wrong thread -- something like this.

northeastmummy · 24/04/2008 08:21

Good morning! I've been having lots of early contractions overnight - not hugely painful but definitely there. After feeling funny all day they started in the evening and carried on all night. Nothing much happening now but I feel like things are going in the right direction.

My MW phoned me last night too. I'm booked in for a sweep on Friday morning.

Hope you're all well. Any more news from christmaspixie?

Fllight · 24/04/2008 08:32

Not as yet! I hope she is busy...

littlemissturquoise · 24/04/2008 08:35

Denny185 - would you be able to update my record when you next do a list of babies who are still baking - I am littlemissturquoise, due on 21 April (so now late!) from Scotland and it's baba numero uno for me. Thanks. All the best to everyone who, like me, are mamas in waiting! Hope today will make our dreams come true!

northeastmummy · 24/04/2008 08:44

I can't decide if I want LO to come today or not! It's my DH's birthday ... do we want them to share a birthday or not??

PortAndLemon · 24/04/2008 08:49

Anyone can update the list -- just cut and paste.

littlemissturquoise · 24/04/2008 09:46

Thanks for putting my details on, portandlemon! I am sooo encouraged to hear of others who are going into labour slooooooooooooowly like me.

I had two days last week of thinking it was happening (when I was 39 wks) with mild contractions. DH took time off work and our families were all on the alert and then everything stopped. Then, things seemed to be happening again after a membrane sweep on Tues at 40+1, as I was told I had dilated to 1-2 cm and I also had a show at home an hour after the sweep. The following day (yest) I had a WHOLE day of contractions at 10 mins apart (and it was my birthday so we were excited that the baby would be born on my birthday) but now nothing more than twinges. Feeling very frustrated, disappointed and upset. Feel that it'll never happen. Feel massive pressure from the hundreds (feels like) of texts and phone calls from everyone (know I am lucky that they care and are thinking about me so much, but it's kind of doing my head in!) So, I just wish I had been on MN a bit more to get support from you guys as you're all going through it and are lovely!

Carey87 · 24/04/2008 10:01

Hi littlemiss! I had the same as you, a whole day of contractions and then nothing! I was very annoyed at LO for playing games

Fingers crossed you'll be seeing your soon

littlemissturquoise · 24/04/2008 10:07

Thanks, Carey! Let's hope that we're off to the hospital by the end of the day! Our little rascals are obviously too comfy in there. I had a Guinness and lots of spicy chilli in a stir-fry last night to get him/her feeling a bit less comfy in there and want to come out......

Annieroo · 24/04/2008 10:22

hello everyone!

Littlemiss, like you i was due on monday, but nothing has happened yet - not even a twinge so far! my midwife tried a sweep on monday, but couldn't as i wasnt dilated at all. Just been to midwife again and still no joy. Have just spent the last 10 mins in tears, feeling really down about it as keep also getting loads of calls and texts asking if the baby is here!

I tried a curry and a beer last night too - still nothing, although i did get up at 6 this morning and cleaned the oven

Carey87 · 24/04/2008 10:22

LOL! Ive been doing the whole pineapple, having lots of se* etc... and still nothing, had a few more teinges last night but slept through most of them

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 24/04/2008 10:26

NEM- make it tomorrow, get a few days of celebrations! and every few years an excuse for a very good family weekend away.

DH shares his birthday with our wedding anniversary, its what he wated but I do find one alwys slips into significance a bit and we get less celebrations.

But does sound hopeful for ASAP- fingers crossed!

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 24/04/2008 10:30

littlemissturqupise- has the same as you for a few ekks before Sebastian was born but honestly, it does happen in the end! I promise! And lots of pre-labour can really help on the big day, too.

FWIW I swear that popping the evening primrose oil helped, and then when that had worked and I was getting odd niggles, think the clary sage did it for me. Clary sage won't work until your cervix is ready though.

sagitta · 24/04/2008 10:39

does Guinness bring on labour, then?

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 24/04/2008 10:44

not tyat i know of lol

my mum used to be given guinness in maternity wards though for her iron, and good iron levels = less chajnce of haemorrhage

hecks, its medicine!!!

littlemissturquoise · 24/04/2008 10:45

You're probably right - sharing my birthday with my child would probably always make my birthday seem insignificant. If baby comes today (i.e. day after my birthday), I'll probably be hosting its birthday party every year with a hangover - ha ha! Maybe not - I am a teacher and know that hangovers and children do not mix!

Annieroo - I know EXACTLY how you feel. Was also in tears last night and this morning with DH before he left for work as felt so down about things not happening. And although it is really nice that everyone is thinking about you re. birth, it is quite annoying when the mobile/landline is red hot. I have actually switched my mobile off today as I can't stand all the texts from everyone. Is that really bad? I do appreciate their support and how excited they are that I am due (late) but I feel like an enormous pressure surrounds me now. Shame we can't weep together, Annie!

mamiguay · 24/04/2008 10:46

wanted to pop in and wish you all quick (but not too quick!!) and painfree labours from an April 2007 mum.. this time last year I was eyeing my due date (25th) on the calendar and wishing he would come already! lol

Thinking of you all

littlemissturquoise · 24/04/2008 10:48

Thanks, mamiguay!

sagitta · 24/04/2008 10:48

My last HV told me to drink guinness while BFing - which was one piece of advice I really took on board . Shall do again this time too (not with every feed though, LOL)

Sorry to hear you are weepy, little miss. DD and I were both howling at each other before 8.00am, which is never a good start to the day...

Annieroo · 24/04/2008 10:52

I'm glad it's not just me then! I think DP was getting worried i was heading towards depression, bless him, he just doesn't understand the pressure. It does help knowing that everyone is there for you, but i do agree that it's really annoying too!

I've drunk guinness quite frequently (only a few glasses a week at most) whilst being pregnant because i've been slightly anaemic and desperately trying to stay off the iron tablets!

Carey87 · 24/04/2008 10:58

started to get pains like something is being poked up my derriere IYKWIM

god I hope this is the start of it!

christmaspixie · 24/04/2008 11:03

Just a really quick message to say had babbba girl this morning 1.am. 9lb2oz 40 + 6 (or more likely 41 + 5 - my dates- judging by the length of her fingernails!!) Haven't chosen a name yet. Had a fabulous, magical, fairly fast, homebirth. DH was an absolute star.
