BraveNewWorld · 18/04/2008 11:50

Hi all,
Just checking in to say hello. All well with us, lots of kicking and jiggling around - and that's just me trying to get comfortable at night! Also wanted to pass on a tip from a friend who gave birth in 5hrs flat 3 weeks ago to try Natal Hypnotherapy CDs as they give you ways of staying calm(er!) during the big event. They're recommended from 34 weeks so will let you know how I get on when I hit that landmark. Booked a babymoon trip away next week, on the readiness stakes, have a few babygros and a study to clear out!
Good luck and stay well all,
xx

Congrats on the BOY Cyteen...even if you did tip the scales.

Sending DD back to preschool today...late as usual. She needs a quick wash then out the door we'll go.

It's suppose to reach 80 degrees today (i think that's 48 cel.) Earthquake this morning just 354 miles away. Didn't feel a thing but apparently somebody did in our county according to news reports. Will be checking with family who live closer to the epicenter to see if they were given a wild shake this morning.

Till later!!

Shazza2002 · 18/04/2008 13:18

I'm back.

Was I missed? Nah, didn't think so.

Been very down lately and I knew it was only me that could bring myself out of it so didn't want to bring everybody else down too.

Anyway, was starting to feel loads better until I went for 24 week check up at GP. Not my normal GP, but anyway I had forgot my notes so had to tell her why I was there (to check blood pressure and urine because of previous pregnancy). So she started giving me a lecture about my weight and how I should be watching my diet and not eating lots blah blah blah. Yes I know one cause of high blood pressure is weight but it's not the only one. Plus what is the sense in telling a woman when she's pregnant that she has a weight problem,
I can hardly suddenly start some exercise regime to lose weight . So then she tests my urine and says I may have a UTI so off goes my pee for testing. So just waiting to see what comes back now. But what is strange is blood pressure was actually LOW. So I felt like saying to her "Now my blood pressure isn't high are you going to take back all those comments!" So that's it really from me. Nothing else much to report

Hope eveybody else is well.

For the record, my DP is currently a useless pile of poo too!

cyteen · 18/04/2008 13:44

Don't be silly Shazza, of course you were missed! Sorry to hear you've had a rubbish GP encounter, today is obviously "don't give a toss" day in the NHS.

Had a text from my friend saying all is well with her mini-bubs (heartbeat and everything) - phew! Such a relief. The sad thing is that I know it'll only be temporary, now she'll be worrying about how to get to 12 weeks, then after that it will be whether she'll make it to 20 weeks...it's so unfair that she can't relax and enjoy her pregnancy as much as she should be able to.

But I'm not thinking about that - accentuate the positive etc. It's great that things are good so far

libbyssister · 18/04/2008 14:04

Oh Shazza Pity she didn't take your blood pressure before she started the damn lecture. Horrid that you came out on a downer.

Well done for having low blood pressure though, you must be fairly chilled even with all this agro! Did you suspect the UTI? Or was it a complete surprise?

Shazza2002 · 18/04/2008 14:44

Thanks ladies.

I just came out of there thinking 'What an evil b!tch'. I have no abdominal pain, just a few pains down below when I get up or try to turn over in the night. But that's more near my pubic bone area and not internal ?? So am quite surprised. Just annoyed about the weight thing, does she seriously think I don't know I'm overweight? Even the hospital didn't give me that lecture which I thought was pretty nice of them

cyteen Great news about your friend, must make you feel more relaxed too knowing that you can talk about your pregnancy to her.

Well only 1 hour 45 minutes left at work. How can I waste that? Searching for my ex on facebook that's how?? WTF is that all about. I keep dreaming about him too. I read somewhere though (so must be true) that if you have dreams about your ex it's because you have doubts about your current relationship. Which is very true at the moment.

PetitFilou1 · 18/04/2008 14:59

TS I drink aloe vera gel when my IBS (irritable bowel if that doesn't make sense to you Stateside!) is really bad. It has to be bad as it tastes FOUL. I suspect you'd have real trouble getting it down your dd I'm afraid. Have you tried her on probiotic yoghurt drinks - that might help?

Shazza Why so down? It is fine to share how you're feeling. Your GP sounds deeply insensitive - maybe avoid seeing her in future and if you can be bothered, complain to the Practice Manager.

Cyteen Congratulations. Not all sonographers are like that though. But I don't think it is a characteristic of the male ones as some women are just as bad (was talking to a rl friend last night who had a bad tempered female one)

And don't any of you let your dh sit about on the sofa while you do all the work! Kick them off it!

libbyssister · 18/04/2008 15:10

OK Shazza I've got a crap baby joke to try and cheer you up:

A pregnant lady was in an accident and she woke up in the hospital. She noticed she was not pregnant anymore and asked the nurse what happened to her baby.

The nurse said, "You have two healthy babies, a boy and a girl!" The lady said, "Oh, I must name them," but the nurse said, "You were unconscious, so we called your brother, and he named them!"

The lady said, "But he's as dumb as a box of rocks! So what are their names?"

The nurse said, "The girl is called "Denise." The woman replied, "Well that is a pretty name, so what did he name my boy?"

The nurse replied, "Denephew!"

PetitFilou1 · 18/04/2008 15:23

Shazza Those pains sound like joint pain - try keeping your legs together when you turn over and when you get out of bed (swing yourself over the edge of the bed) and same when you get out of the car. It should help. I had trouble with my sacroileac joint in both previous pregs and had exercises from the physio plus advice as above which is what they tell you if you have SPD I think.

Shazza2002 · 18/04/2008 15:35

Well libbysister that made me chuckle.

petitfilou I'm starting to think I should have done the whole keeping legs crossed thing about 5 1/2 months ago!! Only joking of course . But I do find it better when I move both legs together. Just amazing how everything takes that much longer, I mean I forgot how it was first time.

LadyOfWaffle · 18/04/2008 17:00

New thread again? Yikes! Quickie update, had MW app. on Monday - everything ok (although it was very brief and quick), got to hear the heartbeat (which took ages to locate!) and wee didn't show too much sugar (the tiny tiny sample I managed to squeeze out literally last minute ) and that was basically it. She didn't weigh me which I guess is a good thing! Next is the GTT test on the 20th May, with my 28 week bloods (eeek!) then another MW app. 2nd June. The kicking is getting so so strong now, I can see it very clearly aswelll which is quite scary. Bought my first pair of maternity trousers at the weekend (I got away with it last time ), which was nice because I actually went down a size from what I was wearing and I can sit down without having to pull them down Have to buy some maternity tops now aswell, my massive tents are too short (bar one). Be nice when it's summer (properly) then all I'll need is jeans and a skirt and some different strappy tops, I am trying to get away with not buying any maternity jumpers at all ( @ mothercare prices for very basic tops). Hope everyone is well, I am so out of the loop!

LadyOfWaffle · 18/04/2008 17:02

Shazza - I dreamt about my ex the other night, pregnancy can bring on all sorts of dreams I find - quite bizarre! Then that leads to real life thoughts which always ends on facebook {{hugs}}

LadyOfWaffle · 18/04/2008 17:06

Oooh, I like the new stats

cyteen · 18/04/2008 17:07

Glad all is going well LoW. I booked my GTT test this morning, glaaagh.

VintageGardenia · 18/04/2008 17:09

Good to see you back, missing ones.

Shazza have you got the real blues or do you think you've got the random "life is shite" sobby blues? Hope it's the passing kind.

LoW hope your DH behaving himself & not being arsey.

cyteen good news on your boy! Congratulations.

Sorry to hear about poor experiences with craply mannered medical types, it's funny how an experience like that can make you feel so lousy. I had a horrible sonographer at one scan and was weepy for days.

In rush, sausages and mash to produce, with Nigella's red wine, cumin & onion gravy, for DS to look disgusted at no doubt. No blardy work done today AT ALL will have to make up for it over weekend, have 2 missed deadlines grrr and yikes.

dizzydixies · 18/04/2008 17:18

evening all, where to start lol

shazza silly PITA mw - hope you GLARED at her!! was looking for you as had some inspiration on the wedding outfit front - will update you later

am also dreaming about ex partners but have no doubts at all as to current relationship, I just put it down to preggy hormones.

LofW good to see you in here

cyteen yipee for your blue!

VG get back to your work lol

dizzydixies · 18/04/2008 17:21

not much news from here

dd2 has turned into a not so happy slapper and walloped dd1 on the face and burst into tears when I gave her a row

dh has been on early shift last 2 days so comes in at 5pm and does fark all for rest of evening, will have to power our way through some housework tomorrow before social turn up

managed to knacker myself trying to catch up stuff that hasn't been done whilst I was working so am off to make tea

sorry my patter is shite tonight, I haven't done anything particularly interesting

anyone need any help with any names so I can redeem myself slightly?!?!?!?!?

Buckets · 18/04/2008 17:58

What names have you got then Dizzy?

BraveNewWorld · 18/04/2008 18:02

Shazza sorry to hear you're having a crap week. I'm up and down like a yoyo at the moment, so much more sensitive than usual. I reckon it's to do with being PERMANENTLY SOBER! Also had a UTI I had no idea about - freaked me out completely as they said it was e coli, but all fine after some mild antibiotics. Definitely see a different GP next time - mine doesn't remember who I am and introduces herself each time when i've seen her dozens of times!

cyteen · 18/04/2008 18:42

dizzy I'm open to name suggestions - we've had almost zero luck with finding boy's names so far. The only thing we both like that fits with our surnames is Alexander, but damned if I'm going to settle on a name this early and miss out on all the fun!

cyteen · 18/04/2008 18:43

I just can't believe how different I feel, how much more real it is, knowing what we're having. It's not just an it in there, it's a little boy. My little boy I so can't wait to meet him

dizzydixies · 18/04/2008 18:54

cyteen thats lovely

buckets I still have all our boys names from the first 2 times as we didn't use them obviously

we had
Corin or Caleb for dd1
Roan or Reuben for dd2

am also a huge fan of Cassius or Rudy

girls am completely stuck on

everything I like dh just goes

PetitFilou1 · 18/04/2008 18:55

Shazza - I had a feeling you would say that!

Btw does anyone want to buy two children? Mine flooded the bathroom last night (well actually it was ds) and water has been dripping through the downstairs loo light today. We've had the electrician in to disconnect the light while the ceiling dries out ... Lucky we're moving out really

dizzy - here is your mojo I found it under the sofa
