I admit, a few droplets of moisture squeezed their way out of even my withered ducts There were still some quite terrifying images on there for a first timer though

CaptainCaveman · 17/04/2008 21:22

Why oh why am i so tired?!?!?!? Anyone would think I'm pg or something. Got in from work, vaccumed, tidied, cleaned kitchen, took one load of washing out, put next load in, sat down for 30 secs before ds shouts "mummy come and wipe my bottom", wipe arse, wash hands, help ds play a game on cbeebies website, make my own tea, make ds' tea, sit down for 5 mins to eat tea, get leapt on by ds......get ds into bed, clean teeth etc, stories x2, prayers, cuddles, singing anddddd relax.
You would be forgiven for thinking dh was out.....he was sat on his arse watching tv.

Still, tomorrow is but another day

TwilightSurfer · 17/04/2008 21:46

Captain, how many weeks until your matty leave begins? You weren't so tired before you went back to work. It's not the pregnancy, you're handling that just fine...it's your JOB.

OP posts:
HazieAndBaby · 17/04/2008 21:58

Hope everyone who was feeling a bit low is doing better today. My friend who?s also pregnant says that every time she has a low day, she buys something small for the baby which mostly always cheers her up.

Thanks for your opinions on my names! These are about the only ones that DH and I agree on so, yay! I really love Ruby for a little girl but DH won?t go with it, even when I use the, ?Oh, but we found out about the pregnancy on the night of the Kaiser Chiefs concert so it has significance?? he doesn?t buy it! He has said we could use it as a middle name though, so we?ll see.

I feel for you too TwilightSurfer! I could feel little kicks this morning in my nether region and each one made me move a step closer to the loo! Talking of movements, the baby was going crazy the other night and I was getting the strongest kicks I?ve had so far, even DH was surprised at the strength!. I was playing ?Ruby? by the Kaiser Chiefs on my iPod whilst lying in bed and he was loving it! We had been at the concert the night that I found out I was pregnant, so I wonder if it?s something subconscious?? Or maybe the baby is a girl and really wants the name! [Hazie crosses her fingers and puts it on mental notepad for use in convincing DH!!] I tuck a pair of headphones into my pyjama waistband and have a pair of headphones too so that the baby and I can listen together. He seems to kick away at the Classic FM for Babies that DH got me for Christmas too, but doesn?t kick so strongly at that.

I?m with everyone on the body thing! It?s weird to see how much it changes and when I look at my early bump photos, I can?t believe how much my shape has changed. I totally love having a bump though and wish I could have my baby but still have the cute bump, I know this won?t happen though and that it?ll go jelly-like, but hey-ho, I?ll just have something else to moan about in the future! Hope my boobs get a bit smaller though. I was a 30F before this pregnancy malarkey and now I'm a 30J! A few steps away from bra-shopping at Millets I think!

Longwayfromhome there was a Trinny and Susannah programme on ITV a while ago that showed you how to weigh your boobs! Here?s the link Weigh away! I?ve always wanted to do it too so that I can say, ?well I weigh xx, but xx of that is boobage!!

VintageGardenia I really like Dazie actually! Wish I?d thought of it when thinking up my username ? I didn?t have my imaginative hat on that day! I could?ve been HazieDazie! Very cool!

HazieAndBaby · 17/04/2008 22:10

And Buckets I'm so with you on the Billie Joe Armstrong thing! (drool!!) I saw him at T in the Park a few years ago and stood there staring at him in a trance for the whole time they were on! Ahh, the memories!

longwayfromhome · 17/04/2008 22:15

Hazie, that's hilarious. Off to try it now ...

TwilightSurfer · 17/04/2008 22:16

Longway, report back. We all want to know.

Waiting on DH to deliver chinese for dinner. I know this is his way of making amends because when he called he said, "I'll stop at as many places as you want to get all you want to eat." Very tempted to say, "I want bread from X and steak from Y and veggies from Z" but didn't.

Anybody here take/drink Aloe Vera Juice for tummy health? Checking into things to help DD out and would really like to go the homeopathic route. She's on the mend but it doesn't hurt to be actively involved in her healing.

Well, about 900g each. It's a very elegant idea in principle but slightly difficult to carry out in practice, resulting in a bit of water on the kitchen floor. Also, I also really should have done this at the start of the process as well to be able to report any change over time.

Anyway apologies for all the random posts recently, thinking of everyone who's having a tough time, with much sympathy. Off out in an hour or so to buy tickets to the UK for Christmas - hurrah.

cyteen · 17/04/2008 22:34

I've also been cooked for by DP tonight - he's such a sweetie. And I must say, he looks rather sexy when he cooks. I must remember to tell him that, it might encourage him to do it more often

Anomaly scan day tomorrow, eek! Can't believe it's finally here, it feels like we've been waiting forever. I am really quite nervous, but had a nice chat with a friend earlier this evening which has put things in perspective somewhat - she's pregnant for the third time, having lost both previous babies at around 12 weeks, and is having her 8 week scan tomorrow morning. So all things considered I'm pretty goddamn lucky. I'll be on tenterhooks waiting for her news tomorrow.

Just slobbing out with the cat now...bliss Hope you all are getting in some relaxation time too!

Have fun Cyteen - looking forwards to hearing your good scan news later!!

Got some good strong kicks and pokes off Mr Sweetheart/Mr Kicky this morning whilst lying in bed. I could feel him turn right round! Ds has decided that Jerry would be a good name for his little brother - but only because he is called Tom. He is absolutely convinced that they will be Tom & Jerry .....not whilst I have breath in my body anyway!!

TS mat leave starts on July 24th so about 14 weeks yet, but 2 weeks of that I will be in Florida - yippee!!

LWFH lol at boobage - they must weigh about 2lb each then? (is my maths right? 2.2lb to the kilo???) Still, 4lb can be the difference between dress sizes right . I shan't ask how the water came into it.....

Hazie you can still change your name to haziedazie, we would still recognise you!

We are off to Ikea this morning to buy sheets and a mattress protector for ds' new bed which is arriving tomorrow. Ds is off to grannies overnight tomorrow night so we'll get the bed done and room sorted whilst he's away, and he'll come back to a nice surprise!! Just got a mountain of shite to shift through first in the 'spare' room which will be ds'.

Where is the dizzy one?

libbyssister · 18/04/2008 09:24

Good luck Cyteen, hope the scan goes well.

All the power was off this morning. No heating, no hot water, no lights no alarm clock radio, no nothing, and food slowly defrosting in the freezer. Our village and the surrounding towns. Petitf - you're gonna love S.Oxfordshire

Brrrr, I am an cold, unwashed skank who was late for work!

Buckets · 18/04/2008 10:33

Hazie, if you were 30F you will LOVE your skinny mummish boobs when they come! (although probably not until you've stopped breastfeeding)

Good luck Cyteen.

Had speech & language assessment for DS yesterday which went so much better than Tuesday's paed appt, they actually seem to know about kids there funnily enough.

cyteen · 18/04/2008 11:03

Hello all!

Back from scan which was quite magical despite the best efforts of the moody bastard sonographer. He was so rubbish! I know it's just a job to them blah blah blah, but honestly, he barely said two words to us the whole time we were there - didn't even look up when we came into the room or say hello, didn't explain anything about what we were looking at apart from a terse "that's its heartbeat" or "there's the face - eyes, nose, lips". I asked him what he was measuring, because I was interested - "head, tummy, thigh", no explanation offered of what they look for or anything. FFS!

Anyway, the main thing is that everything is alright, the heart was beating away nice and strong, all limbs and organs seem to be in place...and we are having a BOY (sorry to unbalance the stats, Saz! ;)). Just before he asked if we wanted to know the sex I distinctly saw a collection of dangly bits on the screen, so wasn't that surprised Was a bit gutted for 2 minutes, then totally over the moon for two minutes, and now I'm just trying to let the new information sink in. A boy!

So we're both pretty dazed and happy now...DP has gone off to work clutching our scan pics. We've decided that we are going to tell everyone the sex after all - as soon as I knew I wanted everyone else to know, and I'm rubbish at keeping secrets anyway.

So there it is! I shall update my stats in a minute. Hope everyone else is having a good day, and libbyssister, I hope your power comes back so you can have a nice hot bath this evening

Hey Cyteen, that's great news! A boy! I'm biased and think boys are great Pity you had a monosyllabic sonographer, it makes such a difference. Don't let him take any of your excitement away!

Don't worry, have phoned DH and leccy is back on so I only shower when I get home...

cyteen · 18/04/2008 11:22

Yay, boys' club! And you're due on the same day as me...just think, there'll be two new bewanged babies entering the world together over the Bank Holiday weekend.

I am still a bit raaar about the moody sonographer (bloody hormones) but tbh in some ways it was quite useful, as it's totally strengthened my resolve to have this baby at the birthing centre rather than in hospital - I really do not want people with that kind of attitude around me for what could and should be a special experience. I want people who will respect how extraordinary it is to make and produce a new human being, and that's more likely to happen at the birthing centre than in hospital, I reckon.

libbyssister · 18/04/2008 11:36

Oh yes! Bank Holiday boys! I've already got a BHB as DS birthday is 4 May, BH Mon this year!

Maybe it's a male sonographer thing. Don't like to stereotype (but I'm gonna anyway), but ours was mumbly and crap too and he just didn't seem to have the ability to convey his wonder at the miracle in my tummy . Just seem a bit disconnected. Stuff 'em!
