Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
dizzydixies · 30/04/2008 10:34

buckets that would drive me to the loo every 10 minutes! go and cut it down yourself, if you think it won't stop world war one!

dizzydixies · 30/04/2008 10:38

ALBS if you don't know which bump it is in the future just tell them all its them

aarrgghhh just had scrambled egg on toast but now want jaffa cakes am going to tesco later so feel the need for a triple box coming on

am with you on the can't be arsed today, dh coming home tonight and the house is in no better state than when he left

I remember with dd2 being uncomfortable with her movements and some of them being painful - I have the feeling of pressure and tightening, without sharp pains, and am presuming they are BH if you are at all worried then you should give your m/w a call just to be sure

cyteen · 30/04/2008 10:39

Morning ladies Weather's not too bad here - it pissed down last night, so today we've just got the grey skies and dullness. Which isn't very inspiring when you're trying to pull a five thousand word essay out of your fundament (curse my laziness and lack of organisation ).

Have tried a couple of times to upload bump pics to my profile but they just won't load, even though I've resized and my broadband connection is quite fast. Then again, it does spare you all the sight of my massive bum. I am thinking of suing Cadbury's, hehe.

cyteen · 30/04/2008 10:41

Sazzles I think you are looking pretty fly in your bump pic - in fact, you don't look that pregnant at all!

dizzydixies · 30/04/2008 10:48

cyteen am ignoring my college work too you're sounds a lot more grown up and serious than mine though lol

alittlebitshy · 30/04/2008 10:55

mmm - i have to admit i bought a triple box of jaffa cakes. have eaten one pack of them....

cyteen · 30/04/2008 11:03

dizzy - I don't know what my problem is! at self. The subject is quite interesting (Samuel Pepys), but I just struggle so much to organise my thoughts into essay format these days. You don't realise how much you're trained into the habit of essay writing by the school-->>uni treadmill, till you've been off it for 10 years and then fling yourself into postgrad study without a second thought.

Anyway, mine may sound highfalutin' but I bet yours is actually of some practical use rather than just a load of old waffle

dizzydixies · 30/04/2008 11:16

cyteen well done you! I am off uni treadmill and decided was time to stretch the brain again and went back to college distance learning - was looking at a post grad course at napier but chickened out and went for an HNC instead as a completely new subject to me

my main problem with it is, and I hope you understand what I mean rather than thinking I sound like a complete arse, it that the assessments are only about 1500 words and I'm used to 5-10,000 word essays! I find it very difficult not to research it all to death and then have to spend time cutting it all down

my degree was pretty non specific and I would've had to have specialised to go on to something so this will bopefully be a bit more practical!

even the tutor has told me on several occassions that this is a college course and I could basically re-write the course notes and pass it

am getting merits for my work though which helps and with work, girls, pg and mum being ill it was def right decision not to do a postgrad yet

all very expensive as self funding too

cyteen · 30/04/2008 11:34

Hehe, I totally know what you mean about overworking things. Not a problem with this particular assignment (sadly), as it's for a module I had to take rather than one I felt passionate about, but the main component of my MA is a 30k dissertation on a topic of my choice, and that's all I want to do at the moment! Which also isn't helping me get this stupid essay done...am supposed to be writing about textual issues surrounding Pepys' diary and all I want to do is read about monsters

How is the distance part of distance learning working out for you? I looked at doing some OU courses before, and might still do them one day (languages hopefully) - have you found it a practical way to work around family and work stuff?

It definitely sounds like you made the right choice re. postgrad work for the time being though - illness situations especially are so unpredictable. I made quite a snap decision to start my MA when I was signed off work following my brother's death, and sometimes I do wonder if it was the right decision to start so soon (especially since I then got up the stick!). But I love my course and couldn't have gone on in the same old routine every day, going to work, coming home, as if the world was not completely different.

dizzydixies · 30/04/2008 11:48

the college were fantastic about the distance learning stuff, its just not practical to be there with 2 kids, a dh that works shifts and me working too

most of the course is taken up with school leavers who might need a bit more guidance than me so I think as long as I keep in touch via email and hand in the assignments they're happy enough, esp as I pay for it myself - its all money and numbers to the college

have also managed to land myself some decent work experience, which starts tomorrow so they seem really happy with that

so far anyway!! I try to get the stuff done in the morning while girls at nursery (not managed today obviously) or in the evening once they're in bed and I just email my tutor if I have any queries

I looked at OU but wasn't keen on how regimented some of it was, this is only a 1yr course full time but have explained to them I'll be happy if I get it done in 2 years lol

CaptainCaveman · 30/04/2008 12:04

dizzy and cyteen I have now retired, temporarily, from post grad study. Cyteen, I can offer you a recently passed (with distinction86%) essay on 'Contemporary issues in public service management', circa 5000 words. However, you would die of boredom and it would bear no relevance to Pepys.....

sazzles is that you with some sexy undies on there? That bra looks distinctly more colourful than the plain black and white 2 that I have. Errr, how many maternity bras have you guys bought??? clearly, I have only bought the 2. A definate admission on my part that I do not wash my bras after only one wear.......

Must upload new bump pic tonight too. I'm liking my bump very much , and have had some lovely comments from other people on how 'neat' it is. Maybe I look like a thug who would kill them if they said otherwise?

OK, wish me well - am just nipping home to take the dead cat out of the outhouse for the council man to pick up.....peg and gloves at the ready!

TwilightSurfer · 30/04/2008 12:17

Sazzles, good job with the lists. They'll be there whenever you decided to work on them....tomorrow, next week, next year. Nice sexy bump photo too. I was just thinking I forgot my 24 week shot. Might attempt that one today (but don't hold your breath).

Alittlebitshy, I've got the same sensations. And the last few days it's been worse. It's got to be that the baby's getting bigger and running out of room. She'll curl up and totally cause me issue. Some nights I spend 30min to and hour on all fours trying to move her into a more comfortable position (FOR ME). Then there are days when I feel strong and my belly feels like a natural part of me....that's not often though. This morning I feel HUGE and can't move well and would like a crane to lift me out of this bed so I can do what I need to do today.

Snipping....DH and I will need to have a chat.

Must get up now....lots to do.

cyteen · 30/04/2008 13:34

Cavey, that is an impressive mark! I applaud your distinctive efforts, particularly with such a boring title to work from

There's no way I'll be attaining high marks for this, it's so blatantly cobbled together. But I don't care too much if I'm honest - it wasn't a module I would have chosen (had to choose from a list of three, all of which were less than inspiring) so as far as I'm concerned scraping a pass will be good enough. I just want it done and out of the way so I can concentrate on the things that matter, like my dissertation, oh, and this baby of course

Am doing okay so far with it - have bashed out a thousand words in a kind of very rough draft/plan style, so I can go back and add onto/tart up later. Just having a lunch break, then I'll press on this afternoon.

(Btw I'm with you re. bras, I've only bought two...and before that I was wearing my sports bra for rather longer than I care to mention )

alittlebitshy · 30/04/2008 14:21

oh - bras. I have 4. I started off with a 2 pack, but when we were going to be away from home for a good few days back at easter time I decided I had to get more, so I got another 2 pack. So I now have 4 and that is working well... less rushing around trying to find one that is in some way clean. I just have M and S maternity ones. They're really comfy - although i think I may have got bigger suddenly cos there does seem to be less coverage than there was. Also just gone down to the last set of holes so think my ribs have started their bid for expansion. Really hoping I can get away with thse bras until I have the baby cos I don't want to have to buy more, thne in a few weeks have to get new ones for feeding too....

poppysocks · 30/04/2008 14:35

You lucky studying people. I left uni 'temporarily' nearly 10 years ago and no real sign of my getting back to actually get the PhD I SO want. I always intended to combine it with motherhood, but the mortgage says otherwise... Now it'll have to wait until retirement. Optimistic or depressing?

Quick question for everyone since we're onto the contraceptive chat. Anyone use the mirena coil? Did you put on weight? I was on the pill for years and did put on weight, but had the normal coil after DD and def. didn't. Did have pretty terrible periods though so the mirena might be better, but given the custom I've given Cadburys over the last 6 months anything that makes getting the weight off any more difficult that it has to be is a no-no.

DH WILL have the snip at some stage, but we've decided that we're too young to make such a final decision. This is def. the last baby though, all being well!

I'm wearing an ancient underwired bra at the mo. The lovely non-wired one I got measured for in Feb(?) started leaving sore marks around the sides and I've definitely gone up a cupsize since anyway. This old one's from before kids when I was 2 dress sizes bigger, lucky I'm a hoarder eh? Just got no time to go shopping and trying on by myself .

Buckets · 30/04/2008 16:24

Actually I've realised half my wardrobe is from BC and just fitting me now over my bump! Will def have a post-baby clearout (optimistically assuming I'm not still that big.)

ALBS dear lord I know now EXACTLY your stabbing pain/bruised sensation curtosy of a trip to tesco - if you find out what it was let me know so I can avoid doing whatever caused it ever again [meep]

bigboydiditandranaway · 30/04/2008 19:04

I now have a due date of 29th july, if you can go anything by that!
Missing info is - 36yrs old, from the midlands,ds age 26mths and next appointment next wed!

Feeling a little, tiny bit less tired but as i said on another thread i'm suffering with a bit of an ache under my bump, i think it's when i've been on my feet a bit too much as well as a growth spurt as twillight said it could be. I am now 42inch waist!! The only time you could be happy about that is now!

Well seems we have quite a large number of July births planned. Honestly I'm hoping to be one of them...not a CS just naturally early. Two to three weeks ahead of schedule would work so perfectly for me.

More shopping today. Four sleepers and three long sleeve snap front t-shirts. My whole baby lot is spread around me at the moment. I think I'm going to go wash it all and see what shrinks. Then I'll sort it my size again. Tag numbers never end up describing size correctly and one brand is always bigger than another with the same size.

I'll try to go take a pic of my bump now so I can keep up with the masses. No sexy undies for me though.....just my little bikini.

No more talk about furthering your education. I'm so jealous. I'd planned to have a nice degree one day.....one day just hasn't come round yet. Maybe when I'm 50.

OK new belly pic is in profile....sorry no lingerie. DD had to show off too so sorry in advance, she's been a bit wild today.
