What do we think of the name Rex? Too doggy? DH has suggested it as an alternative to Max as I've said that's too common for our boring surname.

TwilightSurfer · 24/04/2008 20:32

Buckets...I LOVE REX! It was on my short list for boy names.

LOL Sazzles. Buckets - it's great!

Anyone know anything about the double/triple test? I was going through my notes the other day and noticed that my weight was wrong on the print out of the results. Any idea what that does to the results (out by 10kg)? Midwife seemed to think it was quite serious, but hasn't got back to me with an answer yet. Obviously we couldn't do anything about the result, even if we wanted to, but would be interested to know what it all means....

Hello everyone, I,ve been away for ages and missed absolutely loads. Was trying to scim read through all I,ve missed but only caught wee bits. I,m doing ok but at 23 wks I'm still plagued by m/s. It's a real pain but nothing seems to take it away. Sea bands are now a permament fixture.sarahnh Yes i,ve got the exact same problem with maternity jeans and as yet have found no solution. Now living in stretchy trousers. Been getting lots of cramps in my lower belly over the last few days on and off. Is that the norm at this stage? First baby and all that, never sure what to expect next.Anyway, feeling baby move more and thats great. also heartburn is alive and well and living with me!!Keep well everyonexxxx

CaptainCaveman · 24/04/2008 20:50

Floor problem solved - dh will be cleaning it this weekend .

Decided am definately finishing work on July 3rd, taking 2 weeks annual leave then starting mat leave at 36 weeks. So, now only have 30 days left at work.

Also, got a load of stuff out of the loft at the weekend, including 4 enormous bags of baby clothes. I must count the vest tally for 0-3 months......

Sazzles your dinner sounds great. We had chili-cheese dogs and potato chips. I'll probably be paying for the meal later but it did taste good. DH made them and bathed DD so no complaints here tonight. Just hoping the coughing thing subsides enough for me to rest this evening. I keep thinking it's over then HACK HACK HACK.

MIA ALERT: I will be offline all day tomorrow due to busy schedule. Preschool, DD doctor, then DH's work party...all back to back. It's going to be a vveerryy lloonngg ddaayy.

Karney, cramping/growing pains are sorta hard to tell apart. If they come and go....you shouldn't worry. If they come and stay....definitely check with your midwife. Sometimes for me the baby moves into an odd position causing discomfort. Changing positions helps me most times.

Captain, very jealous of your bags of baby clothes. I gave ALL DD's away. I didn't want the pressure to fill them again. Now I'm left with the chore of buying all new things. Is that really a chore???

Poppysocks, I've not a clue what test you're talking about or why weight would be an important factor for any pregnancy tests. Sorry.

Everyone have a lovely Friday. OH AND I'm not watching Ugly Betty or Grey's until I have time to watch them ALONE so if you find out any details.......DON'T MENTION THEM ON HERE.

Buckets · 25/04/2008 07:53

Heheh, DH is a big Marc Bolan fan actually and it's also the nearest he'd get to calling the baby Elvis (Rex meaning The King.) Guess it ticks all his boxes but I can't help thinking a teenage rock fan is going to be more grateful for the name Kurt than a lifetime of 'Rover.' I don't hate it but still not sure.

well I'm not a happy bunny. Dh went out to a posh diinner last night. Said he'd prob be late but promised not to come back worse for wear. At 1.50am I woke up to heavy footedness on stairs/ in bathroom, light glaring on the landing....... grr.

Then at about 4 ish he got up to go to loo and clearly fortot where he sleeps cos I heard him wander into dd's room and went in and found him curled up at the end of her bed. Not impressed. Loudly whispered at him to get out, and I went back to bed muttering mild expletives . When I got up this morning I found the floor of the shower room he uses was rather wet under foot. DOn't think it was lodger - think he either tried to take a shower last night or was very very unsucessful at cleaning his teeth. So not happy.

Then when dd went to the loo, I happened to look as i flushed, and her wee was red. ARGH!Panicked. she's not good at going to the loo often - she holds onto it most of the day at school. have got gp app.... then texted my mum who asked if dd had beetroot yesterday. {blush] -er yes she did for dinnner. Am keeping app just in case, but i feel a bit silly now.

and still not happy with dh. lol.

CaptainCaveman · 25/04/2008 09:38

ALBS - are you sure he didn't wee on the shower room floor? My dh once peed in his friends clean pile of washing (before we lived together, he shared a house with his friend)....didn't go down too well. He was plastered after a work night out.....

Well, 9,40 and I'm half dressed. Not bad for a friday. Ds is downstairs watching Balamory and taking about 1 hour to eat a piece of toast. Off to buy ds some new shoes today seeing as his others now have holes in them (poor lad!). Going to get sandals for our holidays!!!!!!!!!!! Only 2 weeks to go

CaptainCaveman · 25/04/2008 09:39

sazzles have you recovered from your early start? Ds woke me at 6.45 too. Thats just too early in my book.

alittlebitshy · 25/04/2008 10:06

Pretty sure it wasn't wee . Did cross my mine but it looked too "wet" iyswim...

Is all mopped now and I can demand explanations later!!!

sarahnh · 25/04/2008 10:34

Good morning everyone,

I feel very virtous(sp) as i have just hoovered and mopped and tidied the house.. the hoover is bloomin heavy tho.. me thinks i will have to try and delegate soon!!

Now i am sitting with my one coffee a day looking on mn!

Thinking i should really get off my lazy ass and go to mothercare, my bras are too tight but the thoughts of shopping is making me go arghhhh!!!

Hope everyone has a good day xxx

miamla · 25/04/2008 11:00

morning all
haven't really got any news, just thought i'd say hi
i've had a cleaning splurge this morning too (i'm "working" from home!)
anyway, hope you all have a nice day, I'd better log off here otherwise I really won't get any work done!

libbyssister · 25/04/2008 11:18

Ooh ALBS. you're going to have a good weekend with DH sucking up trying to make amends

Pregnant woman whinge: Why is it that as soon as people find out you're pregnant, everyone expects you to drive everywhere??! My so-called friends have pulled the pregnant and sober card again tonight. Petrol is bleeding expensive (£1.20/l) so why should I rack up the cost? And also, if I wasn't driving I could at least have a glass of wine or something. Grrrr. It's the automatic assumption that really gets my goat.

Anyway, it's Friday. Will try to turn on my happy face now

VintageGardenia · 25/04/2008 11:59

Just popping by quickly, hope you are all doing well, looks like the gay days of this middle period - all the books go on about this time - how you burst with energy and positivity and your hair is incredibly thick and your skin looks amazing and your man can't keep his hands off you. Blessings of the second trimester upon us all.

I haven't caught up with all the posts yet.

Dog doing well, 4 hour op yesterday & she now has 12 titanium screws in her leg and a big plate down her thigh I know if you're not a doggy person this doesn't mean much to you but here chez Gardenia it's big news at the mo.

My mum doing ok, hope out of hosp this eve or tomorrow am, my brother and his wife and their gorgeous dd coming over from London tonight as a surprise for her! Will definitely set her on the road to wellness.

Good to see karney, sarah, etc back posting, will get time over weekend to spend bit more time reading.

xx

VintageGardenia · 25/04/2008 12:00

ALBS I'm sorry about your dh but I am actually lol-ing at it

miamla · 25/04/2008 13:18

albs i think your DH and my DP would make a perfect couple!

VG good to see you on here again. glad to hear your mum and dog doing well. I'm sure your brother and his family visiting is exactly the kind of medicine she needs

libby have to agree with you on the driving thing.. just make it clear to them that you're not happy doing all the driving and that Dr Miamla prescribes you to have a glass of wine! (no, i'm not really a doctor but your friends don't know that!)

I'm still giggling at TS eating her pet with a cheese and chilli topping!

we've just had another check up and the sonographer seemed quite bemused about it all. He said he didn't understand why we were there because both the fluid levels and the blood flow are completely normal
DP couldn't come so my bro accompanied me instead. Bro was really amazed as it was the first time he's seen a scan.

to the london ladies.. what glorious weather we're having today! so different from yesterday's flooding!

libbyssister · 25/04/2008 13:43

Good news Miamla. Shame you were made to worry for a few weeks but excellent news that it's all ok now. Phew.

Feeling very sorry for your dog, VG. Is the dog feeling sorry for itself too? Poor thing.

longwayfromhome · 25/04/2008 14:07

Hello all,

Dizzydixies, thinking of you with your mum at the moment, and VG, glad to hear that things are moving along slowly for your dog and mum, thinking of you as well.

Is petrol really £1.20/l now? How interesting, and very pricey. Here we have government price controls on petrol, some production within the country and I think that we also import from Venezuela, but nowhere near this price. Inflation is high at the moment, but we're not at these levels.

Poppysocks, yes I dreamed about all the girls here on this board as well. I'm not quite sure what this means that my subconscious is doing. Hum.

After breakfast this morning DH felt my tummy and said "I think that's a head" really weird - definitely a hard lumpy bit at the top right - I guess that it is either a head or a bum, but quite exciting anyway!

Oh yes, and other news from Argentina is that the economy minister resigned and DH is very happy about a poster about Nelson that he bought for his office.

On with the day ... (oh yes, to join in a previous conversation, I wash the kitchen floor once a week or once a fortnight depending on whether I think it needs doing).

afternoon All!

am just trying to catch up with you all!

last shift today until next week and thank goodness as am pooped, made dh take dd1 to her class this afternoon and dd2 napping, hopefully for a wee while longer so I can get my bakedpotatoes feet up

went to the pram centre in glasgow yesterday and spoke to a lovely woman about doubles, she's basically put me off farking everything and am back to square one

sazzles she said that dd2 is too tall to get any decent use out of the mountain buggy - what height is your dd?!? we put dd2 into the top seat of a P&Ts and her head was poking out through the wee window in the top of the hood of the sports version, they didn't have a vibe

first wheels too small for dd2 and haven't managed to see an icandy pear but it doesn't look any bigger seat wise either

AARRGGHHHHHHH, I have a headache thinking of it all now

mum doing ok thank you all for your lovely kind thought. she has been ill for 6yrs now but we seem to have come to the end of the road for treatments that work. nevermind, she enjoyed seeing the girls for a wee while and when dh and I take them through just for a few hours in the afternoon it means it doesn't take her 3 days to get over a visit.

VG hope both mum and dog doing well, we're a doggy household too so fully aware of what you muct be going through.

right so we have Rex, Jerry and Maurice as possibles, geesh, I disappear off the board for a few days and it all goes horribly wrong

poppy not long now till grand reopening of Cairnie!!!

and who the sod was laughing at me going off on matty leave?!?!? Please remember I am due in July and will probably be sectioned somewhere about the 24th!!! DH is also going to be working at TinthePark again so its easier for me to be off than try to work out the childcare I start my annual leave on the 11th june and matty officially starts on the 6th july - just counting down the shifts
