DUE AUGUST 2008 NEW THREAD!!

Nope, I don't iron pillowcases either. DH usually gets an ironed shirt at some point before he leaves the house in the morning, but sometimes I forget this as well.

I was worried about this before we got married, but a good friend told me that we had been dating long enough for him to be able to work out that I'm not a big fan of ironing.

miamla · 22/04/2008 17:17

DP does all his own ironing and usually offers to do mine as well! my my i'm a lucky girl!

TwilightSurfer · 22/04/2008 17:31

Just popping in for a glass of water and noticed some nonsense about ironing pillow cases. DIZZY ARE YOU INSANE!! My iron has a very nice layer of dust on it. It only gets turned on for special reasons.....like when I forget to stop at the dry cleaners on a day when we have a special event to attend....VERY RARE!!!

OP posts:
Buckets · 22/04/2008 17:41

Dizzy, do you iron pants and jeans too?

cyteen · 22/04/2008 17:43

Ladies, step away from the irons! Ironing is WRONG and BAD, I thought we'd established that after one of our number ironed her bump.

I get around the ironing problem by never buying anything that requires pressing of any kind.

petitfilou good luck with the move - we'll be moving next month, but I sincerely doubt we'll be as organised as you are.

Morning TS, well, probably afternoon for you now (or is it?).

miamla, your scan pics are so cool! Agree about cropping off your information though, it always bothers me when women put up their scan pictures with all their real data plain to see. Anyone could be looking!

dizzy Just trying to think of what else I like...

Rowan, but DP hates it
love Edmund (but not Edward, because I am difficult) but DP probably won't go for it as it's (coincidentally) my ex's name...haven't tried it out on him yet though, so we'll see

Other names to avoid: Howard (DP's dad), Paul (my dad).

A crazy part of me is really starting to like Eric! But I can't work out if it's just a comedy name crush, so will sit on it a bit longer.

miamla · 22/04/2008 18:04

Eric is a great name! but i too have comedy name crushes!

TwilightSurfer · 22/04/2008 18:57

I actually don't mind doing the girls stuff and dh normally does ours

TwilightSurfer · 22/04/2008 19:53

Yes it does the replay...am listening away as I work on balancing checkbook.

VintageGardenia · 22/04/2008 20:14

Hi guys.

Bad couple of days, my mother went into hospital yesterday (related to existing condition but unexpected and a bit icky so please send all your good vibes to her over the Channel (or Atlantic Ocean in your case, TS). She will be in until Friday, she's in good form I must say. We have her dogs (2) (due to hosp) plus DP's parents dog (due to hols) to stay at the moment so we are a 5-dog house .

Then yesterday just as I was about to drive her to hospital one of our own dogs ran onto the road and was knocked down by a car. She screamed (she the dog I mean) and ran away (on three legs?) and eventually someone phoned, having found her & read the phone no. from her collar tag. We went to get her & she was covered in blood & froth & sweat and not letting anyone near her (though she let me pick her up & put her into the boot of the car for vet - she weighs 5 stone but it was that or let my mother do it! Long story short she has a leg broken in 2 places, needs wiring / pinning / plating / some such, horrors. Plus I have wrenched a muscle somewhere at the base of my stomach, though pain fading today, and I feel dreadful about that.

Today pre- and post-work dashing to vet again, doing x-ray delivery, doing hosp visit & shopping for my mum, etc etc and now I am going to creep into a boiling bath riddled with Jo Malone oil and when DP comes back from run I am going to force him to give me a foot rub and plaster me with BioOil.

DS today: "When the baby is born will you be getting more rice pudding tummy?" Me: Yup. {grin]

Aaargh. Sorry to break in on lovely name and ironing chat with dreary sob stories.

poppysocks · 22/04/2008 20:17

I actually rather enjoy ironing... - well as much as any housework. Def. prefer it to floor mopping or bathroom cleaning. Don't iron any more than the bare essentials thought as it is still housework and I'm all for minimising time spent in that direction.

Dizzy - I'd forgotten about Susannah/Susie too. Love it, but DH doesn't. Same with Constance/Connie. He's considering Charlotte/Lottie, so maybe the shortlist is lengthening a bit. I'm happier with Georgia too. Trouble is I know DH just wants Emily and as someone who rarely sees the negative in anything, as my Dad didn't actually say no, he thinks it would be ok. I think it probably would be too, but that's not the point. Hmmm.

Back sore and bump feeling really heavy already. Hopefully just a phase. Appointment with the midwife tomorrow am, so might mention it, but guess it's just par for the course. Just don't remember the heavy feeling last time.

dizzydixies · 22/04/2008 20:19

oh VG I wish I hadn't taken the mikey about you being absent from the board for a few days now

admisiter said bath along with very much deserved medicinal glass of wine and a long lie

fingers crossed for your mum's speedy recovery and I hope all goes well for pup too

please be careful with yourself and look after stomach pain

poppysocks · 22/04/2008 20:20

Oh VG! So sorry to hear about your Mum and the poor dog. Hope they're both better soon.

dizzydixies · 22/04/2008 20:21

poppy the main thing is to have a few names you would be happy with and when she is born you have some options to see what she looks like

you've got Emily, Georgia and a possible charlotte (Lottie)! there is two and a half at least

Thanks guys. You are superb to a man! In a manner of speaking.

dd don't be daft about taking the M. I come here for cheer and fun.

Excellent vibes, TS.

poppy your back still sore, you poor thing, apparently there are excellent physio things you can do with one of those blow-up balls, I know it's a duller solution than wine and massage, but it's meant to be good, do ask the mw I'm sure she will know of strenghtening exercises.

VintageGardenia · 22/04/2008 20:33

Thanks Saz will be avoiding weight training where poss from now on. Why is your brother kicking you? Seems unreasonable.
