Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

Just a question, those of you that have put scan pics up, how did you do it? I tried scanning mine in, but the quality is naff. I've tried taking a digital picture too but also rubbish. The paper seems too reflective? Any tips???

serendippity · 29/04/2008 09:26

Morning all,
Woke up this morning to browny discharge again not horrendous and not red blood but a colour that shouldn't be there definatly! No pain tho, so keeping everything crossed it stops like last time.
Given the size of my bump i wouldn't be surpsised if i have more than one in there...but that would terrify me beyond words so i'm going with "it's the second baby so i'm showing early"
People have started commenting, and we have a family birthday party for dd on the 10th may, we were hoping to still not tell all of my family until my scan on the 15th, but i do not know how i will get away with it!
I'd love a doppler, but we agreed to do this pregnacy cheaply, last time we spent soooo much money of stuff that we hardley every used and we're determined to just buy essential stuff this time of those with one tho

SoExcited · 29/04/2008 09:29

I'm sure everythign is OK. Brown discharge is pretty common, and generally nothing to worry about, so try not to worry too much.

I was very relieved to know it's not twins!!

Hi Dozymare - my hubby got it off ebay for me - I was a bit dubious as it came from Hong Kong but it is exactly the same as the ones on the internet (have a look at amazon and look at the pink angelsounds doppler it is £40 on there - there are some reviews on there also which are good to read). I will ask DH exactly where the one I got was from.

pinkyminky · 29/04/2008 09:40

Serendipity have you scanned it in as a colour photo? That usually has the best result, and make sure it's totally flat on the scanner?
Get yourself some extra rest, and try not to worry about the discharge.

Twins- no they are not, sometimes one hides behind the other!

SoExcited · 29/04/2008 09:49

It was me that asked about scanning pics - I just put it in the scanner, and did the auto scan. It's not my scanner (a work one) and there don't seem to be many options. Went really grainy. Maybe try a different scanner, and put a book on top of the pic to make sure it's flat.

serendippity · 29/04/2008 09:56

I didn't think i had asked about scanning pictures..i haven't had a scan yet, but i have baby brain so for a minute i did wonder...

Heartmum2Jamie · 29/04/2008 10:00

serendippity We both must really get off this brown discharge/spotting roundabout! I also woke at 4am to more brown spotting, quite a bit actually, but I know from the sca that there is a small pool of blood that would either some out or be reabsorbed. It doesn't make me any less worried, but again, the doppler is a god send, baby sounds happy enough, but my blood runs cold everytime I see brown. Thankfully I am seeing my OB for the first time this morning, so I will tell her and as I will already be at the hospital, hope they can squeeze a scan in for reassurance.

Morning All,

Lolis - Good Luck for today! Twins ahoy... JOKE!

I had a chance of twins and have been on Clomid. When I went for my 2nd scan the sonographer nearly made me jump off the bed when she said "...and there's one heart beat and... (long pause) there's the yolk sac".

Serendippity, hope the discharge stops. Like everyone has said brown is old blood so should be ok, but i'm sure you'll keep an eye on it. I took a photo of my scan pics. They're not great but I took the flash off which helped a little.

Lacksadaisy - Great photos. Your DC are gorgeous! It is very weird seeing a picture of someone who you have been talking/emailing anonymously.

I am feeling good today. Had a few twinges at bedtime but know that can be normal. Other than that boobs don't hurt and I am loving Cheese and tomato sandwiches with salt and vingear crisps pushed in. I keep telling myself that I must start eating healthy now I am starting to feel better.

I'm 11 + 5 today.

AutumnLady · 29/04/2008 10:29

morning all
just wanted to say that my scan went really well yesterday and i'm definitely having a baby!!

very low risk on the NT which is cool and saw lots of bump as took ages to get any good measurements and pictures as it wouldn't stop moving!! hands and feet all over the shop!

Pinkali37 · 29/04/2008 10:46

CONGRATULATIONS Autumnlady x

serendippity · 29/04/2008 11:00

Heartmum- that's exactly how it feels, my blood ran cold when i saw it! I'm sure it's easing, but i don't think i have spent so much tme analyzing toilet paper in my life (sorry tmi!)
Desperatly want a Ginsters cheese and onion pasty atm, i'm gonna go and buy one when i go and pick dd up from school, even tho it's tipping it down!
lackadaisycal gooorgeous pics

Lolis · 29/04/2008 12:07

hi ladies!

I'VE GOT A BABY IN MY TUMMY AND IT'S CUTE!!!!

And it's NOT twins (as far as I know lol)

DH made me drink loads beforehand and my bladder was really painful. Then after a tiny glimpse of baby, the machine crashed and we had to wait 5 mins before it booted up again! I was SO uncomfortable and scan lady said I could go to the loo and let half out, but I was too heavy to move! Then she said my bladder was very full indeed and didn't need to be that full! GRRRRRR DH....

She was nice though and gave me 4 different pics for free cos she felt bad. Apparently you have to pay for them normally - didn't know this....

It was kicking around and doing the spine jerk thing and seems to have really long legs, which is weird cos DH is SHORT but I have tall brothers.

Anyway, it's all good and I'll see if I can put the pics up.

Oh and I'm 12+2, so due 9 Nov, pretty much as I thought.

bubbaz · 29/04/2008 12:25

Congrats Auntumnlady and Lolis (glad there is only 1).
loving everyones scans pics, I tried to do mine last night but my camera had died so hopefully it will be back up and running later on and I will post them then.
Hope eveyone else is OK.x

AutumnLady · 29/04/2008 12:27

Congrats lolis - due same day as me!

ceebee74 · 29/04/2008 12:28

Congrats to all the ladies who have had scans this week

I find it so hard keeping up with this thread as it moves so quickly!

Serendippity - your scan is the same day as me so we are 'scan buddies' - it does seem SO long away doesn't it? And all this talk of twins is scaring the living daylights out of me!

Went to a zoo yesterday and they had some really slippery walkways which of course I fell over with a huge bump onto my (very well-padded) bum - am quite worried about 'bump' as am only 10 weeks pg - do you think I should go and get checked out? I have no pain or bleeding or anything so maybe I am panicking over nothing.

serendippity · 29/04/2008 12:34

Hello all, i've had some tummy pain and the discharge has gone a little darker so i'm booked in for a scan tomorrow at 10.00am. I know i shouldn't, but am freaking anyway.
ceebee if you've no pain or bleeding, and since you landed on your bum and not your tummy, i should think you'll be ok. But no harm in getting checked out if you're worried

Heartmum2Jamie · 29/04/2008 12:51

Congrats Autumnlady & Lolis!!

I have just got back from the biggest waste os time OB appt ever. I didn't get to see a consultant, just a registrar (what is the point in sending high risk patients to registrar's?). She told me that ds2's heart condition is not hereditary and so random that she doesn't think I need a fetal echo but will write to Birmingham Women's anyway (undoubtedly saying that in her humble opinion my baby's heart does not need scanning). I don't care what anyone says, I WANT MY babys heart looking at, so will bypass the bloody registrar and will either ring my GP to do the referal, or speak to ds2's cardiac consultant as he is the one who does the fetal echo's! The appt was running an hour late, I had both boys with me (I home school) and they couldn't even find the heartbeat, which I heard clearly at home 30 minutes before I left. Grrrr, flaming useless.

Ceebee, I wouldn't worry about your fall. Babies are very well protected in there. I tripped and fell onto my belly at 39+5 with ds2 and although I did give birth a few hours later, I was told that I wouldn't have gone into labour from the fall, I was obviously ready to go (I did have a HUGE show that morning). Maybe you could call the midwife and talk it over with her?
