Here's our shiney, new and slightly ameneded thread to reflect our main topic of conversation recently! Really didn't want to mention the cheese and rice in the same sentence, but as it is a favourite with so many of you, I had to add it in, sorry to Hanaflower!

DM That's fantastic news. Hopefully you can start to relax a bit and enjoy your pregnancy.
SoExcited Great news about your scan too. Good luck for your meeting with the headmaster, I'm sure it will be fine.
Love all the scan pics by the way
Pinkali I've not looked on the high st for maternity clothes but ordered some trousers from Jojo Maman Bebe a few weeks ago (10% off with the MN code!) and have just ordered some jeans and summer trousers from them too.
I'm going to a christening in France in late July (I'm god-mother) and would like to get a pretty dress for that but I have no idea how much of a bump I'm going to have by then. Can anybody recommend anywhere for special occasion maternity wear?

SoExcited · 28/04/2008 14:36

I've got a nice dress that my sister lent me - I'm wearing it to her daughter's christening in the summer. Can't remember the make but will look tonight - I could wear it with no bump, and I know my sis wore it with a big bump, and it looks good either way.

Lolis · 28/04/2008 14:37

Hi all, just catching up on the last few hours' posts.

Pinky - YES I always get nauseous after a shower!!! Thought I was going mad!!! Esp. after a longer shower, ie. when I'm washing my hair as well. I could only guess it's to do with getting overheated and/or the sudden burst of vigorous activity. It's driving me mad.

Congrats on more happy wriggling babies on the scans! Pinkali, I hope your MIL is ok and you have had some sleep!

I'm proper tired today and a little bit nauseous dammit. 12+1 today (or 12+4 if I ovulated when I think I did)

I told my boss weeks ago that I'm pg as I work lots of evenings and couldn't hide it. Was talking to him this am and he said he has overheard quite a lot of speculation and had one outright ask (ie. "is she pregnant?") How rude! If I am pg and haven't told people then that's probably for a reason! Don't think he's told anyone though.

Pinkali have you tried Topshop? So far it's come up trumps for me. I'm now too fat to fit into any of my more fitted clothes. I have a great big beer belly. Ugh.

Scan tomorrow!!!!!! (Sorry for long post)

SoExcited · 28/04/2008 14:41

Good luck with your scan Lolis!

I'm going to go and get some more maternity stuff too - work trousers, and some tops. Gap and TopShop looked good when I had a peek - otherwise will order online. Mamas and Papas do some fab tops - really good flattering fit.

Lolis · 28/04/2008 14:45

Ladies your scan pictures are absolutely amazing. I'm totally in awe of Mother Nature - and the science of ultrasound!

Big congratulations again to all you happy mummies!

Lolis · 28/04/2008 14:53

Mmm just had a thought about showers and nausea. My best school friend's Dad, who was a chemical scientist, used to say that you shouldn't shower after eating because your blood goes to your skin, leaving your stomach and therefore not digesting your food properly.

Just my amateur attempt at providing some kind of explanation....

SoExcited · 28/04/2008 15:03

I'd agree Lolis. My hubbie does medical research and that's what he reckons. It's the same reason as cycling to work too quick makes me feel sick at the moment

pinkyminky · 28/04/2008 15:37

Great to see more happy scan results!
Pinkali I hope your MIL is ok. MY FIL had an undiagnosed subdural Haematoma, it could have happened years ago, but the symptoms didn't manifest until last October. We all thought he'd had a stroke. Fortunately, he improved massively after surgery.
Lolis, I am sure you are right about the shower thing. II have a bit of a problem really. I can't get out of bed without eating, dear DH brings me my cereal, it takes me ages to eat, then I have to wait until it's gone down a bit before I get up- if I want a shower too it takes me hours to get anywhere in the morning!
I try to have a bath in the evening instead, if I'm not too tired.

Heartmum love your scan pics- and your boys look adorable!

pinkyminky · 28/04/2008 15:41

Hey Lolis, my DH works for the Youth Service- he's a detached youth work coordinator. He retrained after being an art lecturer for years and he loves it. He's just finishing his MA at the mo.

Lolis · 28/04/2008 15:42

I know, I have the same problem. I can't be up more than 10 minutes without eating, then I shower. I'm trying showering in a lower temperature, and just trying to be quick. Then I have a sit down for 5 minutes afterwards! It is really annoying. It takes me ages to get going in the morning! (or any time of day really )

Lolis · 28/04/2008 15:43

Oh cool. I love youth work! Where is he doing his MA?

pinkyminky · 28/04/2008 15:55

Here at Manhester, the Didsbury campus. He's had an extension as we've had so much going on here, and he's just finishing his essays this month.

Lolis · 28/04/2008 16:06

Bet he can't wait to finish! I'd really like to do an MA at Kings (here in London) but I seem to have scuppered that one for another year at least! Would like to eventually though. But I am a personal tutor on a BA course, which I'm loving

dozymare · 28/04/2008 16:11

What a lovely happy thread today - we are all shiny happy mummies to be!!

Good luck for tomorrow Lolis...

CriCri - I would wait until a few weeks before the chrsitening to go looking for clothes as eally makes a difference to the shape of the dress if you are a bump high or bump low.....I always find JoJo Maman good for dressy stuff, but if you really really want to push the boat out, try Seraphine, Isabella Olivier or Formes....all very expensive though, but as I look at it, we are not drinking for at least 10 months so think of the money you are saving that way!! (Gosh, I sound like a lush don't i!)

DM x

pinkyminky · 28/04/2008 16:17

Haha I think you may be a bit busy for a while!
Tutoring souunds good. I did part time tutoring for foundation students for a while -I really enjoyed it.

Pinkali37 · 28/04/2008 16:40

WE ARE ALL HAPPY I love it!!

I am feeling great and I have a baby in my tummy!! YIPPEE>....

cricri · 28/04/2008 16:43

Thanks for the tips on maternity wear SoExcited and DM. I know I've got a little while to find the perfect dress (or indeed trousers) for the christening, I just thought I'd start getting some idea of what's available.
You can tell I'm a novice at all this - didn't realise I could have a high or low bump Something else to wonder about

Pinkali37 · 28/04/2008 17:09

I just can't wait to see my bump. I'm 11 + 4 today and other than a pushed out little podge (too high I think to be Tarquin) so am expecting in next 2 weeks for my bump to appear. My sister starting showing around 12 weeks but she normally looks like a stick insect.

SoExcited · 28/04/2008 17:19

I am 11+0 and reckon I have a bump visible to me and DH. Not yet to anyone else, although I feel a bit paranoid that people might guess if I wear clingly tops!

I told the headmaster, and he was lovely about it even though this is my first year in the school. Will be such a relief when it's no longer a secret....

Lolis · 28/04/2008 17:20

I have a pushed out big podge!

lackaDAISYcal · 28/04/2008 17:33

lol ladies, i have two babies....my real baby, and what I refer to lovingly as my food baby

off to feed the animals DCs and then i'll catch up later.

SoExcited · 28/04/2008 17:34

I think it depends on your normal shape a lot. I put weight on my thighs and bum, and don't ever put any on my stomach. So it seems really noticeable to me. It means that even my normal 'fat' trousers, are too tight round the waist though, as they tend to be just looser cut hip and leg.

Oh, well - we'll all have proper bumps and decent excuses for elasticated waists in a few more weeks!!

LolaBella · 28/04/2008 17:51

Another happy day for scans but i do wonder who will be the first to announce twins There must be someone on the November thread.
I think i am getting a little bump too -i'm 13w +1 today, my pubic bone area feels really hard and it seems to move upwards each day. I can't wait till iv got a fully fledged bump though.
Good luck to Lolis on your scan tomorrow, bring us more good news - maybe twins!!

Lolis · 28/04/2008 18:01

NO NO NO - please not twins! Don't jinx me! DH is a twin, but since twins are inherited on the maternal side i'm hoping I'm in the clear....I'd have to sell one and keep the other! (JUST JOKING)

Lolis · 28/04/2008 18:12

SoExcited - my loose tops have become clingy tops and my clingy tops have become crop tops! Put my trustiest loose top on this morning and found that it is tight as a drum on me. There's no hiding it now.
