Northeastmummy, you look very glam!

Carey, I like your bump pictures, I must take another. No doubt I'll have this bump for at least two more weeks so no rush!

Congratulations BR and Honeybee.

Scampmum, I am still not out of the habit of getting up at 7 for work! Of course, when I had to go to work I couldn't get up.

I've just had a pedicure so now I have fat feet but nice red toenails.

Good luck, Egyptianprincess, I hope this is it for you.

TheMaskedPoster, your daughters are adorable.

Scampmum · 10/04/2008 12:20

I might have to join in this bump-documenting frenzy - my bump is so pointy from above when I lean back it's ridiculous! Literally looks like the bottom end of an ice-cream cone. Was exactly the same with DD, though.

Carey, your bump does look really low. Or maybe it's just your pert, youthful boobs in comparison to mine resting on my bump! Re the engagement thing, DD never engaged and no-one ever seemed to think it was a problem. There really seems to be no accepted wisdom on engaging, though - I thought further babies rarely/never engaged but this one is and loads of other non-first-timers have (e.g. BR and Scorpio engaged waaay before birth) so I wonder if it actually means anything? apart from worse heartburn in my case

VictorianSqualor · 10/04/2008 12:45

I wasn't having baby.
Sorry to disappoint

northeastmummy · 10/04/2008 12:58

Noooooooooooooooooooooo VS ...............

Thanks for all your lovely comments on photos everyone! I thought it was about time I showed my face - I love looking at all your photos so really needed to update my profile. It makes it all so real when I can see what you all look like .

Carey - your bump is completely different to mine. It just sits bump like on you . Mine's more of a full body bump!!

I have to say, I'm really glad there are so many experienced breastfeeders on here. I've promised myself that I won't just stick my head in the sand this time and will ask if I'm not sure if things are going well or not. And I really feel there is so much support available right here! I'm actually even a little bit excited about getting going with it!!

northeastmummy · 10/04/2008 13:02

I'm really worried about PFJ too . Surely she would have texted by now?

I'm heading out for a bit. I have my 38 week check with the doctor because the midwife is too busy to see me. I haven't got an appointment with her now until I'm 41+2. Have a lovely afternoon everyone.

moominsmummy · 10/04/2008 13:03

some fab bumps out there!

VS - sorry it wasn't the real thing but at least you gave us all some excitement for the morning!

coffee morning was good - nice people to chat to - although I was only "bump" there - the rest were babies - cute though - they all go walking together on a friday which is great for me - altho can't go tomorrow as having eyebrows and nails done!

keep meaning to ask what's all this "emoticon" thing? at first I just thought lots of people were mis-spelling emotion but clearly not? what am I missing out on?

OP posts:
Carey87 · 10/04/2008 13:12

northeast - your lo is a cutie!!

VS - so naughty of you!!!

im rather proud of my bump, purely because ive managed to avoid the dreaded sreatch marks apart from two about 1 cm long which look like bunny ears coming from my belly button, DP keeps saying 'and hows is bunny rabbit today' makes me feel all nice inside

VictorianSqualor · 10/04/2008 13:22

I'm imagining PFJ had to have a CSection, she was in established labour (well 5 mins apart ctx) on sunday, so if she had a CS then they may have kept her in a few days as she is a first-timer.
Hopefully we'll hear soon.

PortAndLemon · 10/04/2008 13:27

When I had c/s with DS late on a Friday I didn't get out until Tuesday afternoon/evening, so if she had a c/s on, say, Monday she might well not be out until tomorrow.

elfsmummy · 10/04/2008 13:39

Afternoon all.

Now 2 days overcooked but feeling good as I slept well last night (finally - sent DH to spare room!)

I can't remember who raised what point but Re LEAKING. I fed DD for 11.5 months and never ever leaked breast milk pre or post birth! Bizarre. Am hoping it will be the same this time - certainly no leakage yet. Never had to bother with breast pads it was fab. (A friend used to sleep with newborn pampers in her bra cups!)

Re Baby engaging - As I mentioned before DD never engaged until labour - which I gather is pretty unusual for a first baby - when I went to be induced she was still free. This baby is still free too which I think explains the bloody heartburn.

Re Induction. I was induced with DD at term + 9 (because she was suspected IUGR - the policy there was term + 14) Had 2 lots of prostin pessaries 5 hours apart then pains started themselves. Midwives kept telling me they weren't contractions just pains related to the prostin. They would only give me paracetamol for pain relief and I just kept vomiting that back up. Anyway eventually they suggested a warm bath - where I stayed for 2 hours. Got out and my waters broke so they agreed to re-examine me. I'll never forget the look on the midwives face when she said "oops you were in labour - you're 8.5cm"

It all fades into a vague memory now!

It's DDs 2nd birthday on Sunday and I've arranged a very small party with basically close frinds and family. So sods law dictates that this baby will arrive on Sunday too!

Anyway this is now an essay.

Enjoy the lovely weather everyone xx

Denny185 · 10/04/2008 13:50

Lots of v neat bumps, no-one yet demonstrating the 'beached whale' look.

Sheds, glad your home and everything ok hope your feeling better and having more time to enjoy Henry now.

Leaky boobs, I didnt leak with any pregnancy but leak everywhere whilst establishing feeding. At the moment getting through lots of bras and t-shirts but find the shells help to collect on the non-feeding side. Speaking of which they are at that so swollen cant put my arms down stage so time to wake DD2 for a feed I think.

VictorianSqualor · 10/04/2008 14:09

Denny, did you actually see my bump?
Certainly not neat!

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 10/04/2008 14:21

From what I recall VS - yor bump was lovely and neat!

Scampmum · 10/04/2008 14:26

Urgh, I have a really bad stomach. Horrible runs and feel sick. Not sure whether I hope this is the start of something or not - if it is I guess labour has potential to be a messy business .

ToastAddict · 10/04/2008 14:29

scamp - ooh, this could be it for you Sure runs etc will finish themselves off before anything else starts [optimistic emoticon] Thus making labour non messy!

moomins - emoticon = smiley or other face. so if there is no "ready made" face done by the lovely MN people, we make our own up

moominsmummy · 10/04/2008 14:52

thanks TA

[sudden enlightenment emoticon]

Scampmum · 10/04/2008 14:58

Love it. I haven't needed that one lately, moominsmummy. I'm so pregheaded that the other day I pointed the car key at the house and was surprised when the door didn't swing open.

AussieDivaOnABreak · 10/04/2008 15:03

Hi everyone! How many pages have I had to read to try and catch up! Lordy - you'd think everyone was sitting around waiting for labour to bloody start or something...

Just to fill everyone in - had another massive show this morning with all manner of different colours, dark brown and bright red too, and quite a few contractions during breakfast which then all slowed down and seemed to disappear again. But now definately having tightenings pretty much all the time but there doesn't seem to be any organisation to them. I know very well that if this was the real thing then of course things just get more painful and closer together, so I'm just trying to get on with my normal day but it's so damn annoying that things don't just get started properly!!!

But then I know so many of you have had the same frustration...

The whole breast leaking thing I've found completely different this time round too - nothing with dd but with this lo I have been leaking for two months! Just small amounts of colostrum which I guess is reassuring, but still rather inconvenient for the whole laundry thing. And not particularly sexy

Carey87 · 10/04/2008 15:06

ah moomins, you make me giggle

where is ellie by the way?

Carey87 · 10/04/2008 15:09

aussie - i had that on tuesday, and started to get a few more noticeable braxtons today, so fingers crossed for you! told dp that it'll be sods law lo tries to make an appearance when brand new bones is on!

ThePFJ · 10/04/2008 15:16

Hello everyone. I am back from hospital finally. After 24 hours of intense labour I had to have an emergency c-section as things had gotten v.complicated for me and baby. Little Jack was born 4:30am Monday 7th April. 7lbs and 5.5oz. I want to post my birth story soon, but I am still quite ill and things are difficult for me at the mo.
Missed you all so much, was thinking of you all in hospital.
xxx

VictorianSqualor · 10/04/2008 15:18

Finally PFJ!
We were worried.
Congrats on the birth of Jack

paranoidmummy · 10/04/2008 15:19
