OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
EllieG · 15/04/2008 14:14

Why? What was it about?

I have done LOADS of interacting today - took DSD to her little allotment thing and we planted stuff. Gosh I am a good step-mummy today. And now she is at an art thing so I get 2 hours off hurray!

EllieG · 15/04/2008 14:16

has anyone ever gone into labour without any warning twinges or false starts?

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:16

One woman who is 26 is pg with her 7th baby and is, to put it nicely, a total dick.

Another case who didnt think she was her parents biological child....

and now a lesbian DNA test thing.

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:16

me Ellie, both times, it just starts!

EllieG · 15/04/2008 14:20

So this means my baby might not be late jsut cos haven't had warning stuff? (Desparately tries to convince self)

I didn't know you could do a DNA test for lesbianism

Scampmum · 15/04/2008 14:21

Yes, Ellie, me too. Show in the morning then first contraction at 2.50pm which kicked it all off, second one 10 mins later, fully dilated by 10pm!

Funny that you had the false start this time, Scorpio - I think your theory about Millie needing longer to develop her superior female brain is spot on!

Scampmum · 15/04/2008 14:22

Also, when I had the contraction I knew FOR SURE that was it. (Was a lot more painful/intense but also more manageable than I expected, if that doesn't sound too paradoxical!)

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:22

oh yes Ellie

Of course it doesnt mean you will be late; labour just starts, i have only ever seen a show this pregnancy, this one has been the most niggly, with the others it just started and bang, X hours later a baby!!

You are due v soon aren't you?

Shiatsu lady told me today to have lots of sex and orgasms

EllieG · 15/04/2008 14:22

Cool! I want one like scamp's.

EllieG · 15/04/2008 14:24

Due on thurs. I am going to go home and ravage DP tonight then. Within the confines of not being able to move that well of course. A sort of gentle, slow ravage.

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:25

i just feel so full of baby now, sex almost feels rude iyswim. DH doesn't really care though!

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:26

i really dont want the baby on the 19th. is dh ex's bday.

EllieG · 15/04/2008 14:31

Is my exh's birthday tomorrow - he sent me a text out the blue this morning 'How are you - still alive?' etc etc. Just replied 'FIne thanks, baby due thurs' which stopped him from replying with anything nasty, which is his usual tactic.

I am soooo glad I am not with him anymore - couldn't have contemplated having children with him. Mainly cos I never wanted to have sex with him, which does put a dampner on pro-creation.

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:32

oh yes, that would be tricky. i never wanted to have sex with ex either, we were supposed to get married but i bailed out, thank god.

EllieG · 15/04/2008 14:36

It's always a telling sign I think. It was when he started wanting to plan having kids that I thought I had to go - bless him, he's a decent enough man, and we both needed more - you reach a make or break don't you at some points? And if we'd had children i could just see my life streeeeetching out in front of me, all planned out and depressing. And now we both have lovely new partners who love us loads and are much happier, so I was right.

Gosh, went a bit oprah then didn't I? Ahem. Must be more British and not share. [stiff upper lip emoticon].

Scampmum · 15/04/2008 14:37

Me too! First stage, anyway...

Sex and orgasms, eh?

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:40

well i had Reilly with him, but now looking back on it i was v young and a 'man' like that was never going to keep me. i already madly fantasised about DH!! (him and DH used to be friends...... )

He now is in and out of work, drives a stupid (think old car but trying to look boy-racer)car, thinks the state owe him a living (legal aid, benefits, etc) and lives with his mummy and daddy. He tried living away from home after we split up but his parents had to go round and clean!!! He is 25 now and has an 18 yr old gf, who loves me even though i do nothing to her apart from ask for money for Reilly.

When reilly was a baby he slept poorly and i used to do it all the time; he never did a thing. he had a job driving buses but the amount of times i had to literally push him out of the house so we could get money....

DH on the other hand is FABULOUS

EllieG · 15/04/2008 14:46

Much better all round then! Well, my ex is very driven, motivated, barrister person who earns loads of money but unfortunately thinks that's the important thing in life. He is completely incapable of any kind of emotional strength or of dealing with anything difficult in an honest way. He hides his head in the sand about any sort of problem and thinks can be solved by chucking money at it.

DP, on the other hand, while having a very strong work ethic, doesn't have a bean but is the loveliest, most understanding, grown-up, strongest man I know. Bless him. Plus he's much better in the sack

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:49

ooh yes DH is fab in that way

I am just better off with DH in so many ways, with everything. I know if i had married my ex i would have had an affair with DH now anyway...and TBH thats not great for anyone is it.

I wanted DH to have the day off tomorrow, but he cant cos he had yesterday off. Mum is meeting me anyway at the docs to sit with Jamie in the waiting room and have coffee after.

sagitta · 15/04/2008 14:52

Can I ask you - esp Scorpio, resident sexpert - I really can't have LO until 40+ 2 at the earliest . I am now 38+3. is it too risky to have sex, do you think? And should I stay off the RL?

EllieG · 15/04/2008 14:53

At least you've got your Mum there. I am looking forward to being able to do a bit more when have got the hang of the baby thing - feel a bit housebound and is frustrating not to be able to go for nice long walk as too hurty etc. DP said last night 'It'll be nice to get my girl back' and I feel a bit like that too!

Anyway, 1 hour left before pick up DSD. Time for a power-nap methinks...

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:54

Well the sperm contains hormones that ripen your cervix and are used in induction gel; orgasm makes oxytocin which is also another thing they induce you with.

Up to you....

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 14:55

must drag big fat arse to do school run.....

Mollyfloss · 15/04/2008 15:43

My Mum has arrived. We went to the Doc's and then went for a nice lunch (well advised Scampmum). So the Doc had a 'look' as she put it. She did a sweep which was very quick, took 30 seconds and not as bad as I expected. She also told me I am 2 cm dilated and expects me to be in labour within 48 hrs but worst case scenario if not then I have to go in to see her on Monday morning probably to have waters broken and be put on a drip. No point in using the gel as I am already at the stage she would want someone with the gel. By the sounds of things it is unlikely that I will be induced anyway. I'm quite achy again and have just had one contraction. Labour - bring it on!!!

Ellie & Scoirpio: I'm loving all the gossip on your exes - very entertaining

scorpio1 · 15/04/2008 15:44

MF - i was 3cm 2 weeks ago glad your sweep was ok, mine will be tomorrow. You will be induced before me then...thats quite early isnt it? they do 41+5 here.
