clary sage oil in burner - is that correct?

scorpio1 · 14/04/2008 10:45

DH is home today, he is 'sick'.

VictorianSqualor · 14/04/2008 10:46

Morning everyone.
Those of you who might possiby be in labour, enjoy it!
Might sound silly but seriously, you're lucky, lucky ladies so try not to think about it being painful, but that every time your body contracts it's bringing your baby closer to you, think about the actual physical side of what your body is doing at the time (squeezing the top of your uterus to push baby down and opening your cervix to give it a path out).
If you can focus on that as much as possible the pain should be mroe bearable, I'm just thinking if you're using the tens machines now then by the time you get to hospital you're gonna need a different method, so try the vsualisation.
Good luck

elfsmummy · 14/04/2008 10:57

Midwife just been. Had attempted sweep- doesn't sound overly favourable - we'll see!

By some miraculous feet of bloody sod's law I'm now only measuring 33cm (despite being 36cm at 39 weeks!) So have to go to the bloody hospital for a bloody growth scan this afternoon.

Sorry. Am pissed off! The same thing happened with DD at exactly the same stage and I ended up with an induction the following day - surprise surprise she wasn't small at all but I CARRY THEM SMALL - its just that no-one seems to listen to me!

So now - being an ungrateful miserable sod - I'll have to spend the afternoon in the country's largest hospital waiting for hours whilst the admittedly fantastic NHS - who are only looking out for the welfare of my unborn child - move heaven and earth to slot me in for a scan at the last minute!

God I'm miserable and ungrateful - but I'm 41 weeks pregnant! And I'll smile be lovely whilst I'm there!!

Soph73 · 14/04/2008 11:08

Morning all. Congrats PFJ Haven´t read all the posts from the weekend so sorry if anyone else has "popped" & I haven´t congratulated. Chipmonkey - yep, I´m still here, but on leave from work now so can only get to a computer for a while every day.
Elfsmummy - Am thinking of you & hope LO turns up soon.
I´ve got a growth scan tomorrow, although don´t think I actually need one, & results of my final blood test.
DH & I have decided to go out for pizza on his birthday (26th) with his mum & DS1 as when we arranged to go to an italian when I was pregnant with DS1 my waters broke Of course we both realise that nothing will happen this time, it couldn´t be that easy ..... could it
I am absolutely shattered today, which is bizarre, as I did very little over the weekend - maybe that´s the problem Have really got to try and do some chores this week as MIL is arriving a week today & you can´t see the spare room for baby stuff!

Soph73 · 14/04/2008 11:11

Scorpio - you poor thing, there´s nothing worse that a sick DH at home Thank god they can´t get pregnant - can you imagine , just doesn´t bear thinking about My DH admitted this weekend that men definitely couldn´t go through pregnancy.

moominsmummy · 14/04/2008 11:11

morning all -loads to catch up on I see..

elfs - sorry to have to spend afternoon at the hospital - what a pain - hopefully you'll prove them all wrong again

VS- am stunned at your ability to have sex 3 times in a morning!!!

TA- your tale of the TENS machine made me giggle - pity it doesn't have an automatic function to increase the level while you snooze..

Ellie - hope you can get some rest hon - didn't know you were social worker - DH is in the same job and it limited our choice of hospital ("can't go there - I only go there to remove babies from their druggie-mothers"! )

PFJ - LOL at one boob bigger than the other - this happened to me last time - my right boob was super-boob - always loads of milk and bigger than the left, unfortunately it did end up hanging 2 inches lower than the other (not that I ever go anywhere without bra on though)

well I had my first really uncomfy night - which I guess at 38+3 isn't doing too badly really. I have it in my end that this baby will be late like the last one so suddenly now am in a panic in case it's on time or early - mentally I am not prepared!! A real baby! arghhhhhhh! although am longing to meet the LO - I don't actually want it to come earlier than 40+ 3. Does anyone else not actually want their baby to arrive yet??

OP posts:
moominsmummy · 14/04/2008 11:17

Scorpio - LOL at men being pg - what a nightmare!

Ironically DH's treatment means he will on a pg diet for months after the baby is born - since he has been eating soft cheese etc in front of me for months I shall be taking great delight in consuming lots of pate and rare steak in front of him!

He also gets nausea from the treatment very similar to morning sickness - but as his lasts 3 days and mine lasted 3 months he doesn't get a huge amount of sympathy from me......

OP posts:
Mollyfloss · 14/04/2008 11:18

Absolutely nothing happening here but the baby is moving fine as if nothing happened during the night! That is good advice VS, I am going to try and think of it when things start up again. I only used my TENS (Mama Tens) on A2 & A3 for a short while so didn't really get into it. Toast: what level did you or do you have your TENS on?

Anyway, the LO will come when she wants to come. I'm not too bothered about the timing but would just like to have some company when it all starts again, so I think I will have my Mum come over tomorrow morning. She can come to my check-up with me too. DH is not moaning at all. He was up the whole time timing the contractions (with the contraction timer website which is great by the way). During those contractions I could hardly move though so if I was on my own I don't know how I'd cope. I'd probably ring DH and have him come home straight away which would be a bit of a waste if it went on for hours or was a false alarm, whereas my Mum doesn't work so she is happy enough to come over and just hang around until the action starts.

AussieDivaOnABreak · 14/04/2008 11:27

hi everyone...typing this on my iPod in bed so won't write too much just yet. Just to finally let you all know that Sophia Viviana was born at home weighing 3.08kg (6 lbs 12oz) on Saturday 12th April at 5.42am...unfortunately after this wonderful home birth I didn't stop bleeding, and twenty minutes later was in an ambulance to Kingston hospital. After losing over 2 litres of blood and 3 transfusions later, I am now home! Beyond exhausted but Sophia is feeding brilliantly and is so beautiful. I'll post again soon, promise. Xxx

scorpio1 · 14/04/2008 11:28

Congrats!!

moominsmummy · 14/04/2008 11:30

Hurrah for aussiediva!

Hope you feel lots better soon! Beautiful name btw

OP posts:
Soph73 · 14/04/2008 11:32

Moominsmummy - you meanie When I was pg with DS1 I always had reasons why he couldn´t come out, but this time round he can come out whenever as I´ve had enough now

Anyway, am going to go home and pretend to do some chores. However, I have already cleaned the kitchen windows & downstairs toilet so that could be it for the day

Take care everyone, will check in Wed as won´t have a chance tomorrow. Soph xxxxxx

Soph73 · 14/04/2008 11:33

PortAndLemon · 14/04/2008 11:34

molly dont do what i did though and leave tens until too late so it has no effect... completely forgot about the existence of pain relief!

mw just said that had i had baby saturday, there wasnt one mw available to do a hb! apparently they assume you have plenty of time . where we are is like stag night city, so getting an ambulance can be a larf too- hope theres a few dh's in newport trained in delivering own babies!

mil actually sent a card! it just says 'glad to hear of your new arrival' though, no name or anything. dh has totally given up on her now i think, i know she'll be thinking we should go visit but its a 2.5 hour drive and she won't let me bf in her house (apparently its inappropriate- with ds1 i did bf but was cofined to stool in unheated bedroom in december to do so).
