Molly, when it's real contractions you'll know cos they'll bloody hurt!
Could be it getting started or you could be entering the 'body has been ready for labour for weeks' stage that I seem to have had

peach123 · 13/04/2008 20:47

probably wouldnt go down too well with the mw! dh is out of luck then! funnily enough the tip did come from a man! any other tips on bringing it on? my 3rd is due on sat and i am so uncomfortable. not castor oil though as tried it with dd and made me sick.

peach123 · 13/04/2008 20:48

oh god have just read through my message. cant believe i put go down!

EllieG · 13/04/2008 21:11

He he he he [Ellie does Sid James style dirty laugh at peach's inadvertently rude comment]

moomin - what a lovely day with your LO I have sat on my arse all day being grumpy, but I may do some interacting tomorrow. Oh no, my Dad is taking her out tomorrow, I will do some quality activities to save my conscience on tues

VS - 3 TIMES!!! Bloody hell!

molly - best o'luck lady. I feel like I am one constant Branston pickle now, plus period-pain type aches. Doesn't seem to get any further than that though, hey-ho.

Ta for naming thoughts - one more to offer up -

does anyone have any thoughts on Maisie? I thought DP would hate but he is suprisingly keen.

It is the Kate Moss thing that puts me off Lila yes, I would be hard pressed not to think of cocaine-snorting skinny girl when looking at my baby and this is not an image I like....
Plus DP said no don't like it.

VictorianSqualor · 13/04/2008 21:12

I like Maisie, my best friends niece is Maisie(maisy I think)

EllieG · 13/04/2008 21:14

Ta. The only prob is spelling it, as I am not quite sure how to, and that would never do for a parent not to be able to spell their child's name. Am off to go google baby names and find definitive answers.

EllieG · 13/04/2008 22:12

DP has just suggested the following

Katherine
Melissa
Gemma
Melanie
Abigale
Nadia

Nowt wrong with them exactly (apologies to anyone who has them)it's just they are really not the kind of names I was thinking of - we are coming from completely different directions! Our poor baby is not going to have a name. Or will have a name that only one of us will like and the other one will resent.

VictorianSqualor · 13/04/2008 22:21

I probably wouldnt use any of them either, I liked Katherine (kitty or katie) but changed my mind.
Not keen on melissa but do like megan (quite similar)
Not Nadia - heshe on big brother

VictorianSqualor · 13/04/2008 22:30

There are some really pretty names on this thread ellie.

What about Naomi? Just trying to think of sort-of-middle-ground between you and your DH...

Lydia? Lena? Lara? Lyra? Daisy? Eliza? Cecily? Lucy? Charlotte?

VictorianSqualor · 13/04/2008 22:52

Darcy, Scarlett, Sadie

ThePFJ · 13/04/2008 23:50

Name her Lara after me

Or Melody, Melanie, Maisie, Niobi. (Nigh-ob-be)
xxx

ThePFJ · 14/04/2008 01:13

OMG one of my boobs is suddenly so much more massive than the other!!!!! Argh!

ToastAddict · 14/04/2008 03:22

Am now paranoid I'm in labour but don't really believe it, and as a result will give birth at home!
Had show last night (nice) and lots of back ache. Put tens on for back pain, when took it off, had crampy ctx pain
Hardly slept, so now up with tens on again, timing "ctx" - still not sure if this is what they are! Feels a lot like the pain you get when you have a tummmy bug and get "gripes". And it goes into my back a LOT. tens is FAB. baby still quite active ....

ToastAddict · 14/04/2008 03:43

hmmmm they range from every 3.5 minutes to every 7.5 ..... last 30 secs to 1min. seems like too much variation? so guess this isn't "it"

eva07 · 14/04/2008 05:40

hi TA, you still here? hope it's the real thing!!

Molly, how are you?

ellie, in austrian dialect 'gemma' means 'let's go!' no offense if anyone's a gemma here!

Carey87 · 14/04/2008 07:45

morning all - having contractions every 3-4 mins but their only lasting about 15 seconds - real thing???

i will read up on everyones posts in a little while, just in pain at the moment!!

elfsmummy · 14/04/2008 08:18

Morning all.

Sounds like there may have been a bit of action (on the labour fronts ) from several areas last night - here's hoping anyway.

Am now 40 + 6 and midwife coming in about an hour to do sweep - although they wouldn't do it with DD as she wasn't engaged so I'm not holding my breath this time either.

DD had a lovely 2nd birthday and party yesterday. Only had 4 of her friends but lots of family (1st grandchild both sides - so totally doted on!)

Its only now that yesterday is over that I feel ready to have this LO! Amazing how much more relaxed I feel - didn't really want bump putting in an appearance on her big day - not that she'd known LOL!

Anyway have a nice day everyone and good luck to those who may be currently in the early stages!

ToastAddict · 14/04/2008 09:08

Rang labour suite as was worried I hadn't felt lo move (now moving lots, so clearly was just asleep ). They said not to bother ringing again until ctx every 3 minutes lasting a minute or more. So I have a while to go.....
Went back to bed at 6ish, as was so tired. Kept falling asleep whilst boost button of tens was on, and would get woken by next contraction as boost wasn't enough any more!! Can highly recommend tens, for this early stage, anyway.
Want to reiterate what someone said a while ago about the show and how gross it was and how they wished they'd known beforehand. There's just so much of it and it's so damn viscous, it's really hard to get rid of (sorry, tmi, but forewarned etc etc)
Carey and Molly, hope it's happening for you.
And VS and Scorpio
And anyone else who's fed up!!!

KnitterInTheNW · 14/04/2008 09:18

It looks like our next 'batch' of babies are nearly cooked!

I'm very very tired this morning, so far I've been spoiled by having a baby that if I can get the last feed to be at about 10:30/11ish, then only wakes up for one at 4/5ish then again at 8/9ish which has been brilliant. I think he must be having a growth spurt ATM though cos he was on practically the whole time from 6:30 til 10:30 yesterday evening, then every couple of hours after that/ I'm not complaining, I'm so pleased that bfing is working out for us. I'm just tired!

My parents are coming back later for most of the week again (it's my birthday tomorrow, hooray!) so I'd better go and take advantage of having 2 free boobs and go jumpo in the shower.

Good luck and all that to all you popping ladies

Mollyfloss · 14/04/2008 09:57

Morning ladies,

Well I am pretty wrecked this morning. I had contractions from about 9pm to 1.30an which had no regular pattern and then nothing... They were very painful and I even used the TENS machine. Now I'm just tired and have the odd niggling pain. Belly is also quite tender. DH had to get up at 6 to go to work after being up half the night. I know I'm the one going through the pain but I feel bad that he is going to be so tired today especially as this could happen again and go on for a few days. My Mum has offered to come over from Dublin. I'll see how things go today but if she came and she could end up waiting around days or more. But then the company would be nice. I'm contemplating whether to go to NCT coffee thing at later this morning. Think I will if nothing else has happened. May as well keep busy...

TLSM · 14/04/2008 09:58

Sounds Promising TA

I have the MW this morning at 11 so will moan to her for about 15 mins before walking up to Tescos not that I need anything but need to do something!

I have woken up with a horrid back ache and feel crap I have been having green strecked with red discharge for a week now nonstop which I am starting to worry about! I have just had enough now and want this one out

Scampmum · 14/04/2008 10:12

Poor Molly - I was sure you would be posting later today with an LO! I would get your mum over if you can, you sound worried and stressed and that's obviously not ideal. However, am sure DH will survive at work and if he tends to wake up it might be an idea to get used to working after a, ahem, disturbed night's sleep!

TA - good luck!

I slept really well and woke up feeling good (first time in ages) so am hoping today's the day! Of course it won't be, it'll happen next time I 'wake up' after zero sleep and then drag on all day and into the next night! Dad came up yesterday and examined me (ex GP) and said baby was at least 4/5 palpable , but by the time he left the bump looked significantly lower and we reckon it had probably engaged again.

Having had a phase of being EXCELLENT at doing my pelvic floors I am now rubbish, but not only did loads last night also watched TWO episodes of 'The Wire' (our new nightly activity - it's great!) on hands and knees. Now feel virtuous and deserving of 2 hour painless labour. - we'll see!

Scampmum · 14/04/2008 10:14

ps - VS, still reeling from three times!! We had sex yesterday and nothing, didn't even get Braxton Hicks! Think DH must have contrived to give me a low prostaglandin 'dose' so I decide we have to do it more often
