EllieG · 13/04/2008 10:05

It will be a rest in comparison to looking after DSD at times!

Sounds like a nice idea for Reilly to go to his mate's house for tea - I am going to ring DSD's friend's mum on fri if baby not here as have ante natal app and ask her to have DSD for a few hours. I think is good for the older ones to have a bit of 'their' time too and it not just be about new baby all the time. DSD is being pretty good about it, but I want to make sure she still has plenty fun so she doesn't see new baby as a downer.

She's stopped! She asked if she could have her TV on in the lounge and I said no I want some non-american rubbish quiet time so she's gone off upstairs.

Oh no, spoke too soon. She's come back down with some drawing stuff and more talking. It must get a bit sore on the throat talking quite so much wouldn't you think?

ThePFJ · 13/04/2008 10:09

And yay as I walk through the valley of no sleep and lumpy tummy bits that I can not feel I know I shall find solice in the font of mini eggs.
Ahhhh-mennn.

ToastAddict · 13/04/2008 10:30

Mornin'
Congrats Fleecy and V1kk1 Lovely names and great to hear the stories
Good to have you back PFJ, hope things are settling down for you

Well, I thought I was going to be queue-jumping last night I had A Contraction!!! I realise that all of you desperately impatient ladies have been having contractions for weeks, to no avail, but whilst I have had period pain cramps, they have always been constant and not what I thought a contraction would feel like. But had a "proper" one last night and actually felt excited by it, rather than terrified DH was excited too Admittedly, felt happier having just the one rather than every 10 minutes!!! But I feel like I know what to expect/look out for now, iyswim?
Anyway, DH is putting the handles on the newly assembled enormous wardrobe in the nursery - once that's done, I can put all the baby's stuff in there and then feel "ready". I'm off to Sainsbury's now for the last time before baby is born - have decided to get it all delivered from now on, too much hassle going round the aisles
Anyone seen VS?? Probably making more windchimes rather than anything more exciting........

Mollyfloss · 13/04/2008 10:31

Morning ladies!

Well my mucous plug has been released gradually since Friday night (sorry if TMI) and I have been getting niggling pains - they feel like period pains but sometimes tighten a little too. I felt these all day yesterday although they were very mild. However they were like very strong period pains during the night (but still very bearable) so I rang the hospital at 2.30am (even though I pretty much knew what they would say) and they said it may or may not be beginning but to take paracetemol which I did and then went back to bed and slept til 8.30. So it's all eased off a bit now although I still have some niggling pains. This could go on for days I suppose but at least there is some sign...

StealthPolarBear · 13/04/2008 10:32

Just hijacking to see all the new babies - congratulations everyone who has given birth!

Mollyfloss · 13/04/2008 10:34

Oooh toastaddict - a contraction! I didn't mention it but I thought I had a real deal one this morning. It was pain like a bad period pain but this time with tightening - is thaht what yours was like?

Think I will start having groceries delivered once the LO arrives. Makes more sense.

EllieG · 13/04/2008 10:43

All bets are on as to who pops first...molly or ta?

VS is on another thread consoling herself that at least she won't have a baggy fanny with another CS

Hey PFJ - how's it going?

ToastAddict · 13/04/2008 10:44

Molly - what I've been having up to now have basically been period pain cramps that come on gradually but are constant, no let up. Always end up having to take paracetamol as the pain is really bad (which convinced me that I wouldn't handle ther pain of labour!!) and the paracetamol always works, pain goes away.
The one last night was the same kind of pain, but it came on very suddenly, built up for 20 seconds or so and then faded away. And then that was it. Sounded much more like the description of ctx I've heard before. And although it was painful, it was bearable as it was over fairly quickly. I'm not deluding myself, I realise that when it happens for real they will be more frequent and more painful, but I think the fact that I couldn't cope with the constant "lasting for hours" pains before was really worrying me about my pain threshold!!

VS is still around No baby yet

Right, off to Sains now before my waters break [optimistic emoticon]

VictorianSqualor · 13/04/2008 10:45

My baby isn't coming.
I know this.
It has less than two days and is obviously comfy in there.
BUT I've decided my fanjo is too nice and delicate to produce it so there is a reason for it.

Mollyfloss · 13/04/2008 10:49

Ok, well then what you were feeling up to now is pretty much what I was feeling these last couple of days. The only thing that I've had that seems to be like a contraction was what I had this morning - the tightening - but it only lasted for between 10 and 20 seconds and although it was more painful than the other period like pains it was still bearable so I suppose I could be waiting for a while yet!

Right, I am going out to buy some plants (between doing up the nursery, tidying the whole time and buying plants this pregnancy has turned me into a new woman!)

Mollyfloss · 13/04/2008 10:52

There's still time VS but even if you have a CS I am sure it will be a much better experience for you this time and anyway as you say at least a certain part of you won't be left in tattters!

Denny185 · 13/04/2008 11:11

Congratulations V1KK1M and Fleecy

Ellie hate to shatter your illusions but unless you get a private room hospital is definately not a rest. Its too damm noisy too be restful thats why i took self discharge 24 hours after a section. (yes even more than a chattering girl)

Sheds75 · 13/04/2008 11:59

morning all, congrats to the new arrivals, seems like only yesterday I was wishing little Henry would hurry up and put in an apperance

hope everyone is having as much fun and enjoyment as we are with our new LO, will try and put some pics up, but with all that went on we didn't get many after he was born.

scorpio1 · 13/04/2008 13:46

i weighed myself today

have put on 2 stone 3 pounds. EEK.

PortAndLemon · 13/04/2008 13:55

Congratultions V1KK1M and Fleecy!

A message for those of you still pregnant -- DO YOUR PELVIC FLOOR EXERCISES!!! Thank you.

TLSM · 13/04/2008 14:06

Scorpio how much did you put on last time? I have put on only 13lbs - still had loads to loose from last time - I put on 6 1/2 stone last time

P&L only problem is everytime i try and tense anything I then need a wee

So Kerry Katone (sure that is spelt wrong) has had a little boy called Max (I am not happy about that) she was due on the 19th May!!! and she let the MTV crew film the whole thing [nice]

scorpio1 · 13/04/2008 14:07

about 2 stone at 37 weeks, alot more in the first pg. I'm not too worried, i was a size 6/8(9st and 5'9) before and could do with the weight i expect!

EllieG · 13/04/2008 14:07

Ah but I should be getting a private room denny [smug emoticon] - I am technically 'staff' and because I work with maternity dept closely quite often (am evil child catching social worker) I get a room unless not possible as would be bit unpleasant to be in a bed opposite someone who had previously worked with their children. Especially since one of my recent ex-clients is due same time as me and her boyf is a violent nutter who hates me for daring to stand up to him and tell him he really shouldn't be punching her lights out. According to the children he calls me 'an animal' LOL takes one to know one!

scorpio - I am beating you by one whole stone, so fret not. Am refusing to weigh self anymore. Especially since have just eaten loads of pix n mix.

EllieG · 13/04/2008 14:08

Sky are filming me too as am sooooo fascinating.

scorpio1 · 13/04/2008 14:09

well i do think that its not bad, is well within recommended weight gain. Baby will be good 8lb of that, for a start!!

I heart pic and mix loads.

lol @ evil child snatcher

EllieG · 13/04/2008 14:12

Yes, have had to hang up my net for a year....oh how I will miss it....(not).

scorpio1 · 13/04/2008 14:13

agree Ellie, a break will be good for you. Let's hope you have a nice baby, lol!!

EllieG · 13/04/2008 14:16

If it isn't I can always stick it in care. That's also a staff perk

scorpio1 · 13/04/2008 14:16

i was going to suggest it, but didn't, lol

you could take advantage of respite carers......
