Peachy · 13/04/2008 14:37

congrats fleecy and V1kk1!

Fleecy- is your s a Seb? Ours in a bas it would seem- Dh has started to call him that anyway. Clearly Sebastian's are quick births!

Took Sebastian out in the new sling for the first time today and was really pleased with it, he loved it. We have to get a new buggy as between buying buggy and birth the car was schanged, and the one we had doesn't fit in the new car! Ordered one so just waiting for it- had to base choice purely on folded size, ended up with a Graco.

Supposed to be in uni tomorrow. nay chance LOL- hate being out of sight of baby atm.

TLSM · 13/04/2008 14:38

pmsl Ellie how wicked although some days i would have thought most of us would gladly hand our angels over!

Oh I didnt mean it was a lot Scorpio I would have said average you still weight less than I did when i was 13! but I am 5'10 and big boned also only 2lbs more than the last (which could easily be a poo) and your over 3 weeks further along!

Peachy · 13/04/2008 14:40

Ellie- that's a good system, we didnt have it back home and I was due same day as someone whom I had recommended have her kids removed..... fortunately we delivered different times! In fact though the MW had me doing a support care plan on the ward for someone six hours after delivering..... hmmm.....

EllieG · 13/04/2008 14:52

Hmmm indeed. Is such a small place you have to be a bit careful over here - when I went for the labour ward tour I recognised several names of mums we were working with - one of whom I knew her babe was not going to be leaving hospital with her so would just be too, too weird and uncomfy.

DP has told me he doesn't much like the name Molly! And we can't agree - he has come up with some really boring names and doesn't like any that I pick!

What does everyone think of these:

Lila
Molly
Eloise
Lilly
Poppy

I like Lila but is it a bit chav?

scorpio1 · 13/04/2008 14:53

Lila is not chav, its my fave! too many Lilly's around here.

EllieG · 13/04/2008 14:56

There are a lot of Lillys at the moment. Don't want something a million other kiddies in her class will be called.

PortAndLemon · 13/04/2008 15:19

Love Lila -- but are you aiming for Lie-la or Lee-la pronunciation? I think that spelling is used for Lee-la in Bangladeshi communities. There is the Kate Moss factor, though (which I guess is what's worrying you?)

Love Molly too -- would have been on our shortlist if we didn't have a friend named Mollie.

And Eloise (colleague of DH's has daughter named that).

Also like Lily/Lilly (but I think you'll have problems with people knowing which spelling you want).

And Poppy is nice, but there are a lot of Poppies around here.

ThePFJ · 13/04/2008 15:23

Hi Everyone,

It's going ok, grandad is here to see his first grandchild and cooked us all a roast dinner. I couldnt eat very much though, I still feel very sicky iyswim.
My tummy is very lumpy. And feels very strange. MW says the feeling will come back totally after 6 months and the lumps should disappear. The whole 'overhang' thing is a tad embarassing though.

I have been trying not to think about the labour too much. I told it all to my dad (now grandad) and felt a bit better, but its clear now the hospital made ALOT of mistakes with me and thats a bit of a shame.

My back is really hurting at present, but I can now sleep on my side after alot of ooh and ah-ing to get there. Yay!

BFing is hard. My milk has come in, but 2 hours of BFing and Jack is still hungry. Half a bottle of formula and he's sleeping like a ... er.. baby.

He is the cutest little thing though. He's a real night owl, so time to try and get him out of that as soon as possible.

All those of you still pregnant and waiting for baby TREASURE it. It wont come again and you'll feel worse after than you do now! Well, for a while anyways!

DP is so good with baby. I have serious catching up to do. (He's helped look after lots of babies before). I am lucky in that respect though, means I can rest more

Hope you girls are ok. Am still recovering and cant read all the posts and keep up like I used to.

PFJ signing out.
xxx

VictorianSqualor · 13/04/2008 16:05

I love Leah or Leila if you like Lily/Lila they're quite similar.

Just been to MiL's and discussed arrangements for tuesday, I can't beleive baby is actually going to be here then no matter what

We're going to drop the kids with her at about 7am, she'll take us to the hospital so we don't have to faff around parking and then when I can have visitors/bfore DP goes home she'll bring the DC's to the hospital. Just wish I could go straight home Apparently she has queried it with the mw's though (staff perks here too)and I should be able to go home the next day if I push for it and everything is ok.

northeastmummy · 13/04/2008 16:33

I like all of those names Ellie, but my fave is Eloise. I love it - I really want Elise for our new LO but DH isn't keen. We were talking names last night actually and I think we've landed on Hope Olivia.

Good to hear from you PFJ - don't worry about keeping up (I'm sure you'll never read this!), it will get easier at some point I'm sure.

Mollyfloss · 13/04/2008 16:33

I'm back from the garden centre. Think I am experiencing contractions but not 100% sure. I'll jhust ignore them until I can't anymore.

Kerry Katona is a bit of a 'I'd sell any story I can to the press'... I'm not a huge fan...

Scorpio: Pfff to our weight gain. You were so tiny before you could put on 5 stone and it wouldn't matter. I've stopped weighing myself too (she says just after a huge burger & chips). It's all water anyway

PFJ: It sounds hard but you seem to be really enjoying being a Mum! Nice that you have such a supportive DP and family in general.

VS: Must be so strange to know exactly when your baby is going to come! Is it a good idea to come out of the hospital 24 hrs after a CS? Is that what you'd prefer? As long as you have help at home why not I suppose...

VictorianSqualor · 13/04/2008 16:35

If there are any issues Molly I woud stay, but as it would be my third I'd know if anything wasn;t right iyswim. Plus the mw would visit me at home every day to check on things, and tbh it would be much less stressful for me to be at home with the kids than at hospital wanting to be with them.

Mollyfloss · 13/04/2008 16:35

Scorpio: I meant pfff to YOUR weight gain, not OUR weight gain `cos mine is not negligible...

Mollyfloss · 13/04/2008 16:38

Well you've experienced this before so you know what is best for you and if it's less stressful to be at home then that's definitely better. Nice to be with your other kids quickly too so you can all bond with the LO together Will your MIL help you out a bit? Does your DH have some time off?

VictorianSqualor · 13/04/2008 16:43

DP is on half days all next week and then it's the weekend, then DD is back at school and MiL will be around as much as she can.

Mollyfloss · 13/04/2008 16:50

Sounds like you have lot's of support.

I'm getting niggling pains quite a bit now, sometimes like period pains, sometimes like contractions , well what I think a contraction feels like, but then I haven't even recognised the braxton hicks so am not sure of anything. Anyway, judging from some of the other ladies here I think it could go on for some time...

Denny185 · 13/04/2008 16:56

PFJ good to hear form you and that your on the mend, we too have a night owl which I find really diffucult because of having to be awkae for the other kids during the day. thankfully DH is still off work and so is doing the first half of the night so I can get some sleep, hoping that shell have turned around by the time he goes back to work. Although despite all efforts to keep her awake during the day yesterday - noisy kids, loud music, washing machines, hoovering she remained fast asleep - she even fell asleep in the bath so i think it may take a while.

VS - I think your right with this being your third section you will def know if everyhting is 'normal' and its so much better getting home isnt it. My section was on the Thurs and at 7am Fri i was asking to go home, the wards are just so busy you cant get any sleep on them, our hospital was fine about letting me go and as you say the mw's come and see you the next day anyway.

LOL at Ellie the childcatcher - do you have a humped back aswell? Glad your getting your own room though dont want to be running into any of your clients if you can help it - unless of course your in the throws of labour and then youll have a v good excuse to clock them one!

Peachy · 13/04/2008 18:09

Molly- hope things are Ok with you and that if you are in labour then all goes ok- good luck!

yep, ours a night owl too.... , tiring isn't it? Fortunately Dh ahs got another week off yet. However, amrio kart arrived yesterday so I think he thinks he's on Wii leave......

7monthsplus · 13/04/2008 18:24

hi, I am still here not had her and she was due on the 8th.. grr

ThePFJ · 13/04/2008 18:36

thanks girls

PortAndLemon · 13/04/2008 18:40

Given the amount of help you get in hospital after a c/s (clue: think of a not-very-large number) it's a good idea to get out ASAP if it was fairly uncomplicated, I think. You wouldn't go onto any other post-abdominal-surgery ward, give each patient a 9lb baby requiring feeding/changing every two hours and tell them to get on with it for the next four days...

Mollyfloss · 13/04/2008 18:53

I'm still here. Pains are quite bearable so I guess I'm not in labour yet

scorpio1 · 13/04/2008 18:59

might be warming up...get some rest and make sure you eat.

Mollyfloss · 13/04/2008 19:03

Yep, could be warming up I suppose. I should eat carbs, is that right?

scorpio1 · 13/04/2008 19:06

yes, good. also sugary things, get some energy incase. have a bath to relax you, if its true labour it will have no effect.
