VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 17:44

Congrats V1KK1M.

WRT breastfeeding, if you change your mind, there is still plenty of time to try again once you've given your nipples a chance to heel, it's not the easiest task, but certainly possible, so bare that in mind.
If not, then please don't beat yourself up about it, it is hard work, it can be really tough and no-one wants bleeding nipples!

Mollyfloss · 12/04/2008 17:48

Congrats VIKK1M!!! Lovely name. Glad it all went so well

TLSM · 12/04/2008 18:10

Ohh congrates VIKK1M The same thing happened to me with my DS dont worry this way DH can help out with night feeds! even though mine never!

Right girls we better get thngs moving in here we havent had a baby since Wednesday and and some of you at the top are now taking other peoples slots VS Scorpio about time you pulled your fingers out

I tried the Sage thingy rub this afternoon and nothing! think I may try some in my bath tonight the weather here is still quite nice was meant to rain on and off but hasnt DH and DS are still in the garden digging bless them! so I am going to a mammoth carboot tomorrow morning hopefully that will get this little one moving!

northeastmummy · 12/04/2008 18:42

Awwwwww V1KK1M - another lovely baby . I hope you're enjoying getting to know each other! Don't worry about your feeding choice either. I know exactly what you mean about feeling guilty but you've made your choice for a reason and if it's right for you, then why worry about anything else?

Now, what about Aussie ... i wonder ...

Mum2b2BabyRoo · 12/04/2008 18:50

Congrats V1KK1M Love the names you picked!!

Just made some chocolate cupcakes/fairy cakes which are cooling as I type waiting to be iced. YUM!

Well my friends baby was born last night - 3.1kgs - another little girl who they have named Isabella!

Nursery is almost done now - DH just wants to put the new wardrobe doors on and then it is complete! Will post pics of the end result. Nothing as glam as Molly's but we like it!

Sheesh - so tired today. Woke up at 9am, went back to sleep at 2pm and slept until 4pm and and ready to hit the sack again... yawn...

Yes - hope all is okay with Aussie!!

lorisparkle · 12/04/2008 19:44

I am getting rather frustrated at not having this baby. I am finding everything painful - sitting, standing, lying, walking. If I go out in the car I am in agony, my pelvis hurts when I sit / lie or walk and my feet just ache from being so swollen. I can't pick anything up off the floor so am training DS1 (21months) to do it for me. I was awake 4 times in the night because of the pain.

Sorry for all the complaining.

Congratulations V1KK1M try not to beat yourself up over the BF. Sounds like you tried really hard and I can completely sympathise over the bleeding nipples. They have put a huge amount of work into getting FF right so it is not as if you are doing anything wrong.

Lets hope for some more LO soon!

chipmonkey · 12/04/2008 19:51

congratulations V1KK1M! Nice to have another little girl to even things up around here! Sorry the bf hasn't gone well but as VS says, you could try again if your nipples heal, of course that's if you want to, no pressure!
These silverettes are supposed to be fantastic for healing sore nipples.

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 19:53

Also for sore/bleeding nipples try hand expressing a small amount of milk just a little squeeze should do, and rub that into them.

Sal22 · 12/04/2008 20:53

Congrats VIKK1M!

I'm just checking in quickly, thinking of everyone. My mom arrived yesterday (she's staying till the 2nd of May) and is adamant that I need rest and needs to be spoilt - and of course I'm not complaining

xxx
S.

chipmonkey · 12/04/2008 21:44

My next door neighbour used to wander around her garden topless to ease sore nipples but I don't know if you would want to try that!

TLSM · 12/04/2008 21:53

Chip are you sure thats why she wandered around the garden topless

Well am off to bed am up early for carboot!

Fleecy · 12/04/2008 22:18

Hi all, congrats to all those with new arrivals. No time to catch up properly as I've been busy with my own new lo.

Had cramps all day Thursday but didn't think anything of it as they didn't hurt any more than the ones I'd been having the previous few weeks. DH went out to play football and I ran myself a bath which eased things off nicely.

As soon as I got out the bath things started up again and by half ten when I went to bed they had started to hurt a bit, although nothing major, so I didn't think anything of it and turned the light out. At 10.45pm I heard a click and my waters broke - a nasty green colour so was a bit worried about that. As soon as my waters had gone, the contractions went crazy and got really painful and intense so DH and I got my mum over straight away to babysit DD and shot up to the hospital. Arrived at 11.35pm, examined at 11.45pm and was 6/7cm dilated. Felt the urge to push at 00.35 and delivered the baby at 00.54 - so a lovely quick 2h10mins labour. V painful though but worth it for the speed!

Am now proud mum to another Sebastian (sorry Peachy!). This one is Sebastian James and weighed a rather shocking 10lb2oz. Have to say, I didn't realise how big he was from pushing so those of you who've been told your babies are on the large side, please don't worry too much about the pushing bit! The only downside was that his head is also big and he had his hand up by his face so I ended up with a 3rd degree tear. Had to stay in hospital til this evening partly so they could keep an eye on DS for Group B strep (I had iv anti-biotics in labour but there wasn't enough time for them to pass to him so he had to have them directly afterwards) and partly so they could make sure I was okay after the tear. Hospital staff were great but I did find it quite dull in there and couldn't wait to get home!

Sorry for the world's longest post but I like telling the story! Is there a sweepstake on who's next?

VictorianSqualor · 12/04/2008 22:22

Congrats fleecy
Pictures???

Scampmum · 12/04/2008 22:35

Congrats Fleecy and V1kk1m, WELL DONE. Can't wait to see pictures.

Nothing to report here, had a pretend 2nd birthday for DD today (her birthday is next Sat so who knows what will be happening), was totally knackered and flaked out around 5 (had been out for Mum's birthday, which is today, for lunch) and got up at about half six to see DD and put her to bed before going out (again) for DH's Grandpa's 90th (which was a week or so ago). Only stayed out for starter (so quite peckish now), came home after an hour or so to find out DD hadn't stopped singing (alone, happy, in her cot) since we left, apparently closing with a resounding rendition of Twinkle Twinkle, but having managed a few Happy Birthday to PoppyandGranny numbers in there. She woke up again when the babysitters left (they are friends and we chatted for a bit) and I've just been up there for about 45 minutes - think too exciting a day and she's been chatting away with me (I WISH I'd had my new digital voice recorder! must remember it in future). We read a book with a boot in and she decided it would be the funniest thing in the world to pretend to take a bit of the boot and feed it to Mummy, so we both sat there laughing hysterically and eating boot chunks for about 10 minutes. I swear she is the most delightful creature in the world. BEING A MUM IS THE BEST!!

Mollyfloss · 12/04/2008 23:05

Congrats Fleecy!!!

Awwww Peachy! Now I am even more impatient to be a Mum!

Mollyfloss · 12/04/2008 23:09

Sorry, I meant Awwww to Scampmum's last comment.

chipmonkey · 12/04/2008 23:24

Congratulations Fleecy! Well done!!

moominsmummy · 13/04/2008 07:55

Morning all - congrats Fleecy - am liking all these tales of speedy 2nd labours

Am finally feeling "properly" pregnant - have been fine up until now but in the last day or two I have been desperately tired and been having shooting pains in my hip (which I think is trapped nerve or SPD??) Bit unfortunate really as my friend is here this weekend so don't really feel I can totally opt out of stuff!

No signs of labour here at all -which suits me fine as we need to get DH's treatment out of the way on 21-23rd and get back home first.

VS - any signs?

Lori - big hugs and hope you feel a bit better soon

OP posts:
EllieG · 13/04/2008 09:30

LOL at moomin - it's only taken you 9 months to feel 'properly' PG!

CONGRATS fleecy! Yey for you and your new little man. Sebastian is a fab name x Glad it wasn't too bad pushing him out - mine is looking like a bit of a fatty so gives me some hope!

Awwwwwww too at scamp and her DD

No news from aussie yet? VS? Scorpio? Any moves?

Looks like I spoke too soon lori - you're as grumpy as the rest of us hugs to you lady x

EllieG · 13/04/2008 09:34

DSD came down about 10 mins ago and literally hasn't stopped talking! She doesn't even seem to need any response from me - started off by talking back but it doesn't seem to be needed! So am going to see how long she can maintain it. We may have a record.

northeastmummy · 13/04/2008 09:39

Awwwww Scamp - your lovely story just brought tears to my eyes. There are so many things that just make it all worthwhile aren't there?

Congrats Fleecy. I love hearing the stories so glad you took time to write it !

scorpio1 · 13/04/2008 09:45

Congrats Fleecy and V1kk1 Lovely names

Still pg here, 40+2. DH has taken the kids out to the car boot this morning, i have been cleaning and now relaxing. Had a nice night last night, was home by 10pm and no, no wine. i havent had any for 9 months so dont want to spoil it now

I seriously dont feel like i am going to labour naturally with this one. Wondering if they need to induce they can put gel in and let me go home?

EllieG · 13/04/2008 09:51

She's still going! I'm not even really sure what she's talking about tbh [bad step-mummy emoticon].

DP is taking her for a bike ride and picnic today, so he says (though he is generally very disorganised about these things). Means I get some quiet time before the next week starts hurray! Plus this week will be better than the last one cos my Dad is having DSD over tomorrow and have twisted DP's arm to get him to take a couple of days off. And hopefully I will have a baby so will get a little rest in hospital!

scorpio1 · 13/04/2008 09:54

hospital will not be a rest!!

The rest of the week sounds lovely though i don't really want DH to go to work this week but if i havent got the baby here then there is no excuse, really. Tomorrow another lovely mum at school is taking Reilly back to hers for tea after school so i dont have to do the school run at 4.15, after his tennis.
