We've told my parents (I couldn't wait) but not dh's - he wants to wait as they were very upset when I had a miscarriage in November (yes, and 6 weeks pg again already, dh is very proud of himself). I'm dying to tell my best friend but we're waiting a couple of weeks.

Jaxpax · 26/01/2005 13:53

Franch - You are right, I don't really want m/s. I still remember m/s from my last pg 12y ago! Apologies to all of you who are suffering, I hope you didn't think I was trivialising m/s. It just seems an eternity to wait 6 more weeks for the scan/confirmation.

xx

pooka · 26/01/2005 14:53

It really does feel like an eternity waiting for the scan. more than three and a half weeks to go. rang my midwives, and it seems that my referral letter for the booking in appointment has gone astray, but in any case, that appointment wont be until after the nuchal scan, so no early glimpses this time round (last time was booked in at 9 weeks).
Still feeling pretty rotten in evenings, and still have occasional griping pain. Just trying to stuff myself stupid during the day so don't feel hungry AND sick in the evening.

zubb · 26/01/2005 15:05

How funny - my midwife has just phoned as she saw I was down for an appointment next week - she wanted to check that I was going for a planned home birth this time! As dh wasn't keen last time she wanted me to start working on him already, but I reassured her that we are both sure it will be at home this time.
It's great to be remembered, but not sure that having a baby in the bathroom is the best way to do it! She did say that just because both previous labours were really quick (precipitous for ds2) this one might not be.

franch · 26/01/2005 15:10

zubb - at your midwife!!!

jaxpax - sorry if I sounded peeved! No offence taken

YOKEFLEET · 26/01/2005 15:12

Hi, I am new to this thread, I am 5w+1d pg (that 1day is very important to me!!) this is my first pg and I am scared to death to be honest!! I don't feel excited yet as it seems so soon?

YOKEFLEET · 26/01/2005 15:13

meant 2 soon!

zubb · 26/01/2005 15:14

I thought she might remember me! She's been my community midwife for both kids in the last 3 years, so she's used to seeing me! I had ds1 in hospital so it wasn't her that delivered him, but she was there 5 minutes after ds2 arrived - and had told me to prepare for an emergency homebirth (shame I didn't listen!).
Have you discussed homebirth yet? Here they are quite keen on it which is lucky.

Beatie · 26/01/2005 15:18

Zubb - which area are you in?

zubb · 26/01/2005 15:26

Wiltshire

Beatie · 26/01/2005 15:28

Oh lucky you. The South West is so much more progressive about home birth isn't it?

zubb · 26/01/2005 15:30

It does seem to be, I know that Bristol has quite a high home birth rate as well.
Have to say that I hadn't really considered the option before, but given my history it is the only wise course of action - unless it's twins!

DecafArabica · 26/01/2005 15:38

Hi everyone and congratulations and welcome to Yokefleet. Have you worked out when your baby is due?

Beatie · 26/01/2005 15:44

I don't think I'd be allowed a homebirth since I had bp issues last time and was induced early.

I'm begging for a waterbirth this time though and will not take no for an answer unless I have to be induced again.... which I will try very hard no to be.

YOKEFLEET · 26/01/2005 15:46

DECAFARABICA - I am due on the 27th. I can;t believe how quick we fell pg as we only decided on Xmas day to start trying!!

franch · 26/01/2005 16:23

Congratulations Yokefleet Where are you hoping to give birth, do you know yet?

YOKEFLEET · 26/01/2005 16:29

Franch - absolutly no offence taken, you just made me realise how lucky I am at the moment not having the dreaded m/s, plus I just wanted to make sure I hadn't upset anyone.

Yokefleet - welcome, I know how you feel as I am also a mere 5w+4d.

Kiwicath · 26/01/2005 17:45

My word!!!, quite a gang aren't we. Welcome Yokefleet Very clever getting bingo on the first try. I bet hubby over the moon but also a bit miffed (trying being the best part of it all ).

Well, my dh handed in his notice at work last night so it looks like we're really leaving. Haven't booked flights yet but planning on flying out mid June. Really amazed to find that Singapore Air lets you fly at 35 weeks or 32 for twins. Cutting it a bit close for us though. Will have to find a house, job, hospital and give birth all in a matter of months. Sh!t scared but also very excited. I left New Zealand 15 years ago so will feel like a foreigner in my own country. Leaving Egypt in summer to go to NZ in mid winter - I MUST BE CRAZY!!!!

Jeepers · 26/01/2005 19:10

Hello, Hope its ok if I join this thread. I have just spent the last hour reading through many many postings on this site and its been such a relief to find out that people are feeling and experiencing the same things as me. I am just over 8 weeks pregnant and I must admit I have been feeling really quite isolated in this whole pregnancy thing. We haven't told anyone yet (waiting for that elusive scan) and my husband, whilst happy, seems somewhat detached. I seem to veer wildly from excitement to fear and sometimes it doesn't even feel real. What I'm trying to say is that it was lovely to stumble on this site and simply writing this has made me feel so much better about things.

franch · 26/01/2005 19:15

Wow Kiwicath, best of luck to you - very exciting!

Jeepers - welcome - glad you've found us! Let me know your EDD and planned place of birth and I'll add you to our lovely long list. Is this your first baby? Congratulations!

maretta · 26/01/2005 19:25

Hi - welcome to Yokefleet and Jeepers.

I'd be interesterd to know how many people have a date for the scan. I'm sure I had my appointment by this time with ds1.

Have you been feeling sick Jeepers? I think it takes longer for the news to sink in with dh's. For them life just carries on as usual, whereas we're all feeling sick, sore breasts, can't drink, can't eat nice cheese, can't eat yummy runny egg and so on.

Congratulations on your move back to NZ Kiwicath. I went there a couple of years ago. It's such a beautiful place. How come you went to live in Egypt - it looks so exotic when you look down our members list and your local hospital is Cairo.

marinda · 26/01/2005 19:30
