mummy2olivia · 19/04/2008 22:07

Thanks guys. Need to chill out and get over this really. chances are it will be fine- just cant be happy.

LittlePeanut · 19/04/2008 22:11

Rosmerta, my DH feels the same about HB. Difficult isn't it? I think sometimes that the men feel even more anxious about the birth than we do. Maybe because they have even less control over it than we do (and we don't have much!)

LittlePeanut · 19/04/2008 22:13

mummy2olivia - how soon can you book up an early scan? Do you mind me asking how you go about this? Do you have to have a reason? how much does it cost? i really hate the 12-week wait.

hiccymapops · 19/04/2008 22:23

I think it costs about £70, and you can get them from 6 weeks from a private clinic.

mummytoolivia i know how you feel it took us 15 months ttc Ben, and i was a wreck the whole pregnancy, convinced something would go wrong. This time it's taken us 14 months and i'm doing it all again. I know it's hard, but you can't help worrYing. I agree with LittlePeanut about trying to talk to your DH. I'm driving mine mad, but i can't keep all my fears to myself. At least we can all talk to each other on here too

hiccymapops · 19/04/2008 22:24

rosemerta we've done a swop! I'm originally a Londoner

LittlePeanut · 19/04/2008 22:30

Thanks for that info hiccymapops. I will have a think about that.

bcsnowpea · 19/04/2008 22:48

ah, I finally have a moment to catch up and post.

well, I shall follow the trend:

me: 21 (uni student, admin support, clueless as to a future career - or possibly too many options)
dh: 25 (pharmacist, currently sahd)
ds: 17 months, beautiful
live: sydney, australia
likes: reading, hiking (though more in Canada than in Sydney), snuggling up, not feeling queasy, jelly, watching ds kick his balls around.

Rosmerta- hb is tempting, isn't it? Well, you still have plenty of time to convince dh.

hiccamypops- our poor dh's don't get enough pity, do they. Mine has to listen to every little thought about this pregnancy that pops into my head, even the really ridiculous ones.

Well, I've had a lovely/horrible weekend. I've been really sick since Friday, but then I've gotten to relax with dh and ds. Dh is so sweet, he's done so much for me this weekend, and he panders to my every craving. I've had so much fun watching ds as well, playing with him and not worrying about studying or anything, because I know I need to relax. I'm feeling a bit better today, so I suppose it's back to the grindstone.

kayzisexpecting · 20/04/2008 08:08

Morning everyone.

mummytoolivia Sorry you are feeling so worried. I suppose it is only natural to worry. I hope you try to relax a little bit.

I am so excited about going to London tomorrow. Can't think of a better birthday present really. Going to do lots of sightseeing and shopping. Going to go in the big Mamas & Papas and go to the Mothercare.

I hope everyone is ok and the Morning Sickness is holding off.

Disenchanted · 20/04/2008 08:28

Oh, if anyone lives near an Ethel Ausins pop in because they have gone into liquidation so most things are half price, I got a few longer tops in preperation and there were also some lovely linen trousers, not maternity, but they have a strtchy waistband so the are perfect for that inbeteeny bit where your old clothes dont fit but you are too small for maternity! They have them in beige and black

Verso · 20/04/2008 08:43

mummy2olivia I think the early scan is a really good idea. I can totally empathise with the whole thinking it might be snatched away feeling. I feel like that too - so I'm scared to get too excited. I get amazed when people talk with confidence about their pregnancy actually resulting in a baby! I do think it's worth broaching with your DH if you can. My DH has been really supportive. He hates it when I'm all doom and gloom, but he totally understands. I'm not sure when I'm likely to relax with this pg - probably after the 20 week scan!

Little bit about me:
Me: 37
DH: 33
DC: DD 3yrs old
Hometown: Just outside London
Job: Senior manager in a publishing company

On a different note, my M/S has really kicked in the past week. I've not been sick, but I am constantly nauseous and really off my food (which is NOT like me!). Nothing sounds nice... bleurgh.

(I'm not complaining really though - I know nausea is a good sign!)

mibbes · 20/04/2008 09:07

mummytoolivia it is completely understandable that you feel the way you do. I felt in the first wee while as if my 'state' was temporary IYKWIM, I just couldn't relax enough to be excited. DP was all full of excited chat and I think I ruined his high spirits by reminding hi it was very early days and a lot could go wrong. I like to think I was just preparing him for the worst as I'm pretty sure he has no idea how common early mc is. Then when I bled at 6 weeks I thought my fears had been confirmed but 2 weeks on and all is well. I found that the only thing that calms me is time passing, at almost 8 weeks am feeling more like it may actually happen .
I have a private scan booked for next Monday - the clinic I'm going to in Edinburgh does reassurance scans from 7-11 weeks for £70. I'm going to put my mind at rest before we tell parents.
kayz baby shopping, How exciting !
bcsnowpea your DH sounds lovely
LittlePeanut I have everything crossed for you that things settle down and you can start to relax soon.
verso IKWYM about being surprised that people equate the PG to an end result of a baby ! I am just trying to get to 12 weeks before I can start accepting that bit !

mummy2olivia · 20/04/2008 09:11

Thanks for your kind messages everyone. Am gonna book private scan in Bham for 7 weeks- costs £90 and will be well worth it.

mummy2olivia · 20/04/2008 09:11

southernbelle77 · 20/04/2008 10:46

Hi, can I join you all? I got my bfp on Friday (and another one today just to be sure!) and EDD is 26th Dec according to my dates.

I had a bfp in February too but it lasted less than a week so I am feeling a bit apprehensive, although 'feel' more pregnant this time, itms!

I haven't read everyone elses posts as there is over 888! But I will try and catch up with who everyone else is in time!

minster · 20/04/2008 11:13

Congratulations southernbelle! I'm feeling pretty scared too

There must be someone due after me! I don't like being on the end of the list

I'm still testing & freaking out - they seem to be getting darker I've only got 2 pound shop strips left & I am not buying anymore. I hate the first trimester.

I've defintely been felling sick on & off over the last few days, lots of cramps too. I want to bring our scan foward but I know if I have one at 7 weeks I'll be desperate for another one before 12 weeks

southernbelle77 · 20/04/2008 11:54

Have added myself too

will also put a bit about myself:

So 4-4 and lots of crampy feelings and some shooty pains. These are doing nothing for my paranoia. I totally understand how you feel mummy2olivia - it's not much fun at the moment with the worrying. I keep trying to stop myself thinking the worst.

Me: 28
DH: 34
DC: DD 9 (BIG gap !!)
Hometown: Leeds (Though am a Scarborough girl - waves to people from Pickering and Driffield )
Job: Teacher, Secondary
Things I love: Reading; have strange American TV addiction which does me, or my housework, no good whatsoever!

Indith · 20/04/2008 12:53

Just remembered, mummy2olivia you were saying about bras weren't you? I would say get yourself to John Lewis for a good measure and fit. Last time around I spent a lot of time in ill fitting bras and those god awful granny bras that pass ofr maternity stuff in M&S and my resolution this time is to get good, properly fitting bras at each stage, even if I end up spending more than I would like or only have 1 bra at a time that fits and waash it every evening. My norks are a couple of empty sacks at the moment (finished bf a couple of months ago and have yet to refill them with fat) and I need to feel good about them.

Disenchanted · 20/04/2008 13:04

Me: 23
DH: 22
DC: DS1 - 3YRS, DS2 1.10 YEARS.
Hometown: Manchester
Job: SAHM
Things I Love: Reading, drawing, painting, trying to learn to knit, sleeping!

My DH has taken the lids out for a few hours so I think Im going to go to sleep for a bit, feeling very tired today!

Disenchanted · 20/04/2008 13:04

Not lids...kids!!

PMSL at mental image of DH dragging saucepan lids down the road!

JollyBear · 20/04/2008 14:46

Afternoon all and congrats to newbies!

A special hello to due date buddies feb and southernbelle! mummytoolivia My boobs are bursting out of my bra today so I'm glad someone else has the same thing. I'm a 34FF and am dreading to think what size I'm going to end up .

I too am really fearful that these are v early days, we all sound v much in the same boat there. It is really odd to feel excited but so very worried at the same time.

Is anyone else very bloated? I have an pre-period like bloated tummy. Can anyone experienced in pregnancy tell me when/if it will go down?

Me: 28
DH: 28
Hometown: Lancashire
Job: University Researcher
Things I love: Walking, reading, attempting to learn a musical instrument, cooking mainly baking

IceCube · 20/04/2008 15:11

Jollybear - I'm very bloated too, I haven't gained any weight but have gone up a size in trousers.

I actually went out and bought a copy of the last pair of trousers I bought in exactly the same style just one size up so that friends I normally shop with won't wonder why I'm wearing new clothes!

kayzisexpecting · 20/04/2008 15:23

Afternoon girls and Welcome to our new comers.

As for bras, I don't seem to be any bigger yet but my normal bras are hurting at bit. I have been told by Lulu on here and my MW that sport bras are really good for maternity bras as the offer lots of support. I personally am fed up at having my boobs looking like they are round my waist. I went up 2 sizes last time to a 38DD so DH I am wondering what I'll be afterwards.

I'll have to say goodbye now until Thursday evening or Friday Morning. I am off on my birthday trip to London. We'll probably be in a new thread by then. So have good weeks everyone and I hope your morning sickness starts to ease. I recommend the travel sickness bands as they have really helped me.

Bye XX
